AMD Radeon HD 7770 GHZ Edition Resolution incorrect and computer hangup

Hello all. I have been chasing down a problem with my computer hanging up when playing CS:GO. The computer will freeze/lag and repeat the previous 1second of audio/video until I hard boot the system or pull power. I updated my BIOS version as well as installed all of the most recent drivers for both MoBo and Catalyst Control Center.
My build specs exactly:
CPU: Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($199.99 @ Microcenter)
Motherboard: ASRock Z87M PRO4 Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($99.99 @ Newegg)
Memory: Patriot Signature 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($52.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Samsung 840 Series 120GB 2.5" Solid State Disk ($90.99 @ Amazon)
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($59.99 @ NCIX US)
Video Card: MSI Radeon HD 7770 GHz Edition 1GB Video Card ($69.99 @ Newegg)
Case: Fractal Design Core 1000 USB 3.0 MicroATX Mid Tower Case ($29.99 @ Microcenter)
Case Fan: Arctic Cooling Arctic F9 43.0 CFM 92mm Fan ($4.98 @ Amazon)
Power Supply: XFX 550W 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply ($45.99 @ NCIX US)
Optical Drive: Samsung SH-224DB/BEBE DVD/CD Writer ($15.99 @ Microcenter)
OS: Windows 7 64bit Home Premium
When I initially installed the video card and set it up, I had set the resolution to MAX which is 1920x1080 (my natural ASUS LED monitor's resolution) but got a black border around the desktop screen. I didn't think much of it and just reduced the resolution to something that fit better (dont exactly remember the size) but in an effort to troubleshoot the problem, I removed the video card and ran the monitor off of the MoBo HDMI output. When I set the resolution to 1920x1080, the desktop fit perfectly.
What would cause the same resolution settings from the HDMI out on the MoBo and HDMI out from the video card to display differently?
I completely uninstalled CCC and reinstalled the driver and there is no change in the difference in resolution display.
Some things I tried to diagnose the hang-up problems:
MemTest86+ on both sticks of ram for 10+hours without an error
Prime95 for 4+ hours without an error
FurMark ran at 17FPS at the reduced resolution for 20+ minutes sitting at ~60-62C steady state without a hiccup
CPU and GPU temps are always in check, never reaching past 65C under full load. I have not overclocked anything or adjusted the performance of the system. It is really frustrating and I am wondering if the 2 problems are connected somehow.
Any help on the resolution issue would be fantastic!

for the black border via HDMI that's normal as it will have scaling on 10% by default!
1: go into the AMD software
2: expand My Digital Flat-Panels
3: go to Scaling Options (Digital Flat-Panel)
4: change the scaling from 10% to 0% and apply
now it should fill the whole screen at 1920x1080 resolution!
Ill try that when I get home! Thanks!
Just out of curiosity, why would the scaling be down 10%?? That seems kinda silly!

    Dear Apple,
Could you please add hardware/graphics driver support for Diamond Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition (7970PE53GHZ) and Diamond Radeon HD 7970 (7970PE53G) graphics card support to OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.x
I needed a better graphics card, and need Mountain Lion drivers for the latest Diamond Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition (7970PE53GHZ).
Could you please add graphics driver support for this graphics card to Apple OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.x?  The video card works when I boot directly into Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8, but it doesn't seem to have the proper graphics drivers for OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion.
Can you please add graphics drivers support to OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion, so that the Diamond Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition (7970PE53GHZ) can be used with the Apple Mac Pro?
The GHz Edition graphics card can be found here: http://www.diamondmm.com/amd-radeon-hd-7970-ghz-edition-pcie-3g-gddr5-7970pe53gh z.php

                         Thank-you,

@Hatter - I'm quite familiar with the GTX 6xx series, and have looked at the GTX 680, but I specifically have four Radeon HD 7970 graphics cards, and I'm just extremely disappointed/outraged that I spent the amount of money that I have spent on buying an Apple product (an Apple Mac Pro) and I can't even get a decent top-of-the-line commercial (off the shelf) graphics card to work.
It's extremely sad that Apple can't even take the time to add graphics drivers for a decent graphics card like the Diamond Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition (7970PE53GHZ) and Diamond Radeon HD 7970 (7970PE53G).
This thread is NOT about NVIDIA graphics cards.  This thread is about the Diamond Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition (7970PE53GHZ) and Diamond Radeon HD 7970 (7970PE53G) graphics cards, and adding drivers for these graphics cards to OS X 10.8.2 Mountain Lion.
I want to use a Radeon HD 7970 graphics card (with 3GB of DDR5 memory).  I'm just asking for graphics drivers to support the graphics cards that I have purchased.  That is all.  The cards work great in Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8.
The only problem I am having is with OS X 10.8.x Mountain Lion.
Windows drivers exist.  Linux drivers exist.  I'm just asking Apple to add Radeon 7970 graphics drivers for OS X to Mountain Lion 10.8.2.  I didn't realize that I would have to STOP BUYING APPLE PRODUCTS just to get a decent graphics card and a decent computer.  I spent quite a bit of money on my four Apple Mac Pro's (about 3 times more than a comparable PC product) and I just find it extremely troublesome (and TERRIBLE) that I can't even use a standard commercial off the shelf (COTS) Graphics card like the Diamond Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition (7970PE53GHZ) and Diamond Radeon HD 7970 (7970PE53G) graphics cards, and find it hard to believe that nobody at Apple has the brains (or foresight) to add graphics driver support to OS X 10.8.x Mountain Lion, so that users can actually use a standard Radeon HD 7970 reference design graphics card.
The 2008 Apple Mac Pro used Diamond Radeon HD 2600XT graphics cards.  The later Apple Mac Pro's used standard Diamond Radeon graphics cards.
I just find it hard to believe that Apple is falling apart, and can't even keep up (and is about 2-5 years behind the PC sector) when it comes to adding hardware support for the Apple Mac.
Apple Mac Pro's don't even have Blu-Ray support.  Although some have managed to find ways to get Blu-Ray to partially work, but you can't watch Blu-Ray movies (or 3D Blu-Ray movies) with a Mac (in OS X 10.8.x Mountain Lion) and also you can't burn or rip Blu-Ray movies in OS X.
An Apple Mac Pro should come STANDARD with a Lite-on Blu-Ray burner (as a standard drive), and should have 3D Blu-Ray support (for watching 3D Blu-Ray movies) right out of the box, and it should also have support for editing/burning/ripping Blu-Ray movies (right out of the box).  Apple should pull their head out of their "5th point of contact" and add hardware support for the LG WH14NS40 Blu-Ray burner, and also add support for the Diamond Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition graphics cards.
The Diamond Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition (7970PE53GHZ) and Diamond Radeon HD 7970 (7970PE53G) graphics cards are the latest and greatest, and that is what I expect from Apple.
If Apple can't deliver a decent product anymore, and I can't even use decent COTS (commercial off the shelf) hardware then I'll probably have to just put my 2012 Apple Mac Pro on e-bay, and dump it, and just go out and buy a PC (that can whip the **** out of my Apple Mac Pro at nearly 1/3 the price) and can outperform the Apple Mac Pro in nearly every way (including the ability to watch/rip/record Blu-Ray movies, and the ability to use "top of the line" graphics cards like the Diamond Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition (7970PE53GHZ) and Diamond Radeon HD 7970 (7970PE53G)
If I spend "top dollar" purchasing an overpriced Apple Mac Pro product, then I expect a decent "top of the line" graphics card, specifically the Diamond Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition (7970PE53GHZ) and Diamond Radeon HD 7970 (7970PE53G) graphics cards to WORK with the Apple Mac Pro.
I didn't realize that I would need to use a graphics card from 3-5 years ago, and I expect to be able to use standard off-the-shelf hardware with the Apple Mac Pro.
It would be extremely easy for Apple to just take the time, and add Graphics Drivers support for the Diamond Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition (7970PE53GHZ) and Diamond Radeon HD 7970 (7970PE53G) graphics cards to OS X 10.8.2 Mountain Lion.
The latest operating system should support the latest hardware.  I wish Apple would begin listening to it's customers, instead of just ignoring customers, and forcing us to spend/waste thousands of dollars buying overpriced Apple products, only to find out that we can't even use a top-of-the-line graphics card like the Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition (7970PE53GHZ) and Diamond Radeon HD 7970 (7970PE53G) graphics cards in OS X 10.8.2 Mountain Lion.
The cards work fine in my Apple Mac Pro (under Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8).  The only problem I am having is graphics drivers support under OS X 10.8.2 Mountain Lion.
    Dear Apple,
Could you please add hardware/graphics driver support for Diamond Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition (7970PE53GHZ) and Diamond Radeon HD 7970 (7970PE53G) graphics card support to OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.x

  • MSI - AMD Radeon HD 7850 OC Edition CRASH

    Hello,
I recently bought MSI HD 7850 OC Edition. Before I install new card,
     - I uninstalled AMD 12.2 drivers, reboot pc
     - Ran DriverFusion (newer version of DriverSweeper), deleted entries and reboot, then shutdown.
     - Removed my old HD 5770.
     - Installed new card.
     - Installed new drivers and reboot.
Then I wanted to test performance in BF3, i had significant FPS boost but after like 2-3 mins, sound started looping then i got a white screen with stripes. Then I rebooted and tried again. This time I had black screen, my monitor just went into sleep. I thought maybe it is a problem with BF3 only. So I tried Natural Selection 2. Again, after 2-3 mins I had a green screen with stripes again.
    Any ideas?

Hi Guys, so I to recently purchased a new system and a MSi HD 7850 1G graphics card and I'm getting the same vertical line random crash when I play games  ( happens on Batman or GW2) and when I run FurMark Burn Test.
Bare in mind I've reinstalled the Gcard drivers from the website, reinstalled windows 7 64bit and swapped ram.  My GeForce 9800 Graphics card works fine and passes a 20min Furmark burn test and does not crash the machine, so I think it must be the HD 7850 card settings or its just dodgy card!
I read on another forum that I should change the core clock target and the core memory targets  using Catalyst Control Centre.
    (Google Tomshardware - sapphire-7850-edition-vertial-lines-crash-issue-help)
This seems to be what your suggesting to try here, so I was wondering what values I should change these to? It was originally set to:
    core clock target:
    30000
    90000
    memory core target:
15000 (don't know why this was so low)
    120000
(do I need to another property name, Want_2 ? As suggested in the link? )
Also if changing these setting fails, what should my next core of action be?
    here is my system:
    Board: Gigabyte X79-UD3
    VGA: MSi HD 7850
    PSU: Corsair CX7750 750watt
    Intel Core i7-3820 3.60 GHz
    MEM: Corsair 16 GB
    SSD: 128Gb
    OS: Windows 7 64bit

  • Does 10.5.6 Support Dual displays for Radeon 9800 Pro Mac Edition cards?

Does 10.5.6 Support Dual displays for Radeon 9800 Pro Mac Edition cards?
And is there driver updates for anyone using the all-in-ones HP printers...has anyone been able to use their scanners since the update? and has the dual screen support been added to avoid the blue screen on startup?

The ATI Radeon 9600 PC/Mac edition 256 MB should work in the MDD G4. It has two DVI ports (one is dual-link and can support a 30" display). You will need adapters for ADC displays.

  • AMD Radeon HD 8330

I can't seem to get the driver to install properly for this device, when I do it always error 43's. The default windows driver works OKAY but gaming is completely out. Can anyone tell me how to get it functioning correctly?

    Hi,
Do you mean that the driver for AMD Radeon HD 8330 graphic card stops working and shows error code 43? Does this issue only happen when upgraded to Windows 10 Technical Preview. First I would suggest you uninstall the driver from
device manager, then Scan for hardware changes or reboot PC to automatically reinstall the driver. detailed information in the link below can be helpful
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc725873(v=ws.10).aspx
I found on web, and didn't find a driver for this device for Windows 10 Technical Preview , so it might be a driver compatibility issue, I suggest you confirm the detailed driver info with the device manufacture.

  • MSI R7770 GHZ Edition Screen Resolution Reverts

My Screen Resolution sometimes reverts to 1024*786, when PC starts. It doesn't happen every time, but once in a day or 2-3 days after. My recommended resolution is 1600*900.
Using latest version of graphics driver 13.12, downloaded from MSI official website.
I have tried uninstalling & re installing. Then formatting & fresh install. But no luck. Please help me regarding this matter.
    Thanks...

A Radeon 7770 requires 19A on +12v and a 500W psu minimum what makes your psu inadequate. That on the other hand is not the only problem. This old Fujitsu PC lacks an updated bios for supporting new vgas especially as new like the 7770. Also it is an old PCI-E Gen1 board AMD Gen2 or Gen3 cards usually cause trouble with or refuse to work at all. To sum up the possibility to run the card in your old Fujitsu PC is very slim or there's even none.

  • AMD Radeon 7700 Resolution Issues

Okay, this seems like a totally idiotic problem, but I can use some help. I recently installed MSI's AMD Radeon 7700 video card in my Windows 8 64 bit system. The computer itself is plugged into my 16 x 9 Samsung TV through an HDMI cable. Everything works fine when I set the computer to it's recommended resolution of 1920 x 1080; however, the issue is that a significant portion of text is too small to read in various games I'm playing. I tried a simple fix at first, and just used Windows' option of making all items larger; this, however, results in multiple programs not scaling correctly, leaving portions of the program exceeding the window. So, I tried scaling down the resolution, but neither of the two option I have available (1600 x 900 or 1024 x 768) displays correctly. I'd just like to try out some other 16 x 9 resolutions to see if it makes text more easily legible, but I can't seem to find a way to expand the resolution options. I've played around a bit with the Catlyst Control Center software, but I haven't had any luck with it yet. Any advice or insight is much appreciated!

if you can't read the text in games,
use lower resolution or buy bigger monitor

  • Smaller resolution for AMD Radeon R5

I have a Satellite C55D-B5310 with the AMD Radeon R5 Graphics adapter running Windows 8.1
The driver version is 13.352.1004.1008, which I believe is the latest.
The finest resolution (which is recommended by Toshiba) is 1366x768.
I would prefer to use a smaller resolution: 1440x900 (or smaller) since I work on spreadsheets which contain many columns and the web pages I visit often now require that I scroll more frequently.
Is there a way to obtain a screen resolution so that I can display smaller objects on my laptop screen?

    Satellite C55D-B5310
Is there a way to obtain a screen resolution so that I can display smaller objects on my laptop screen?
No. The native resolution is a property of the flat-panel display.
Your AMD Radeon R5 should be able to supply a higher resolution to an external monitor attached via the RGB or HDMI port.

    ==========
I tried to go into display settings and disable the Intel card. (this caused low resolution which is unexceptable)
    ==========
This makes me think it's using that graphics "card" ( probably built into mobo ? ...called 'onboard graphics ? )
This stuff gets tricky and sometimes the only way to make windows 'recognize' the pci graphics card is to actually take it out and boot, and then put it back in...
Then you get mssg " windows detected new hardware" and you install the drivers...
usually bios gives you choice of using onboard graphics or not ( but this too is wanky sometimes...sorry to say ...)
I recently ( this past year ) had a similar sort of situation but have a desktop, where its easy for me to take off side panel and pull the pci-e graphics card and boot, and get that horrible low res default screen...turn off, install card, reboot etc...
but anyway, it sounds to me like you're notebook is using that mobile graphics driver stuff and not the radeon. Somehow you've got to make it switch to that graphics card is maybe your solution.
sorry I dont have notebook but maybe someone else here does and can help more...
    good luck.
ps..its always a weird fact of life...when things aren't working 'right' something has to get done fast....
    edit:
I dont know how much you know about windows stuff, but after you disable that intel thing and get your low res screen.. you DID try to update the driver for that card using 'my computer / device manager  '   right ??

  • R7770 GHz edition Compatibility issue

Hi wonder if you could help me?
I have the following system and needed a DX11 gpu so purchased an MSI R7770 GhZ Edition GPU 1024mb GDDR5 to replace my Radeon HD 4850
    MS-7504VP-PV (CPU 1) motherboard
    Intel Core2 Quad CPU Q8200 @ 2.33GHz
    Dynex 400w PSU
    Windows 7
After installing the card i can hear the fans whirring but no display on the monitor- checked and reseated the GPU - still not working
Refitted the Radeon HD4850 - Computer back to normal!
A lot of posts on other forums point to the PSU needing to be minimum 500w but there are conflicting posts that state that a 400w psu is adequate.
Can anyone help please-any advice/guidance greatly appreciated.
