AMD Radeon HD 8670M Install Prblem

I got a problem with my AMD Radeon HD 8670M graphic card. As when I updated windows 8 to windows 8.1 my laptop started using his own graphic card (Intel HD Graphics 4000) wich decreased my framerate in games and that how I found out about it. After resarching the web and trying most of the things I don´t know what to do anymore. I tried many times to deinstall my driver, when i install it back again and i right click on desktop->AMD catalyst control center it says it cant start the program because there is no AMD driver software instaled or there is no AMD card there. I tried many drivers and nothing really worked. But when i check my Device-manager, there are 2 graphic cars listed, the Intel HD 4000 and the AMD 8670M.

    Hello,
    I just bought HP Pavilion 14 N037-TX
    Intel‎‎ Core‎‎ i5-4200U 1.6GHZ
    ‎4 GB DDR3 RAM
    AMD Radeon HD 8670M 2GB DDR3
The notebook already had Ubuntu (uninstalled now) and then I installed Windows 8.1 64 Bit.
I installed the necessary drivers from http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4158&lc=en&cc=id&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=5448...

The installer failed to install AMD Catalyst Control Center and it says "Application Install: install package failure!"
And then I took a look the installation log, it said the installer only install the OEM but not the Catalyst Control. I keep looping install-uninstall the driver but it's always gave the same result.
I already tried some driver from AMD, this one: http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/latest-catalyst-windows-beta.aspx
    and then this one: http://www.driverscape.com/download/amd-radeon-hd-8760
    and this one too: http://www.amd-drivers.com/download-RadeonHD8760-graphics-driver-for-Windows8-64bit.html
and now I am using this one: http://support.amd.com/en-us/download by detecting my OS and automatically install the best driver according to AMD, it has 'Mobility' on it's name.
The problem is, those drivers was succesfully installed the Radeon on Device Manager, but not in dxdiag. The dxdiag still shows that I am using the Intel HD Graphic instead the AMD Radeon 8670M. The catalyst control center won't let me see what GPU is used for power savings and high-performance mode. The dxdiag keep on showing the Intel HD Hraphic whether my notebook is plugged-in to power source or on battery, the Switchable Graphics just did not work as expected.
I already look for an answer in so many forums with similar problem, but the problem still persist.

  • 15-n067sr problems with AMD Radeon HD 8670M (windows 8.1 x64)

    Hello,
below i'll explain the problem i'm experiencing.
I've decided to install Windows 8.1 x64 to this notebook model (15-n067sr). The problem is that ATI drivers which i download from HP support site doesn't allow me to install Display driver, it only installs OEM profile or something like that + Installer. No display driver, no CCC, not anything else. And it doesn't matter if i choose quick install or personalized. I've tried deleting all the ATI, Intel and chipset drivers and reinstalling them one by one. First chipset, then Intel and then ATI and still Installer won't let me setup any data which is needed for correct performance.
Anyway, i tried to install 14.9 Catalyst from AMD website, also tried beta drivers and actually they install correctly and i can switch between 2 video GPU's and everything seems fine EXCEPT ONE THING : the notebook won't come back from sleep mode , hybernation mode or when the display switches off. I've tried to manipulate with energy options , but still no result. With AMD display driver installed (from official website) the notebook never resumes correctly from these modes, i guess they just don't work at all, display just becomes black and nothing else happens.
    Yes, i've updated my BIOS.
No, with these drivers from HP i can't switch between GPU's and only Intel GPU works actually, i've checked that in TechPower GPU-Z.
I guess i've tried everything possible, but if you can think of any other solution - please let me know, because i can either play games normally and use both GPU's but it's impossible to work with notebook, because sleep and hybernation modes doesn't work, either i can work without any problems, but my AMD GPU isn't avalible.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi @Malakhov ,
Thank you for your post, I will do my best to assist you!
I grasp you are having a difficulty with the switchable graphics on your notebook. You have tried uninstalling and reinstalling and using updated drivers but to no success.
Here is a link to the recommended drivers for your system.

Download and  save the Chipset, Intel and AMD drivers and save them on your desktop
    Delete all three drivers

Now install the Intel driver and   if prompted restart the notebook and finally install the last driver.

Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I am happy to help you with your questions and assist with the green video issue. Firstly,  Pavillion G7 is a family of notebooks with many different members with pretty much every possible combination of windows 7,  8 and 8.1 among them. Please see the following if you need any help in finding that information:

Is the Windows Version on My Computer 32-bit or 64-bit?
You could try whichever of these drivers most applies to your notebook. It is possible that it could resolve the problem.

    Hi AndrewFMT,
I regret you are still having issues with installing driver.
Have you checked the HP Drivers & Downloads page for a bios update for your system? You will need to input your exact model ( see link in previous post) and follow the prompts. You will also find the recommended drivers for your system on this page.
If there is a bios update, follow these steps.
    1.Install the bios update
2.uninstall and reinstall the Intel driver
    3. restart your computer
    4. now try to install the AMD driver.
If you are still unable to install the AMD driver, I suggest you do a recovery.

  • Help installing AMD Radeon 8490 graphic card on HP Pavilion P7-1110

Appreciate any help on this that anyone can give.  I'm at a loss at the moment.  Just got an AMD Radeon 8490 graphics card to put into the HP Pavilion p7-1110 desktop.  I have not opened up the back of a computer for probably ten years (used to do it, but haven't for a long time).  The card I got was new, but pulled from a workstation before going out, and came with no disk or documentation.
I tried just opening up the back, and putting the card in the PCI-16 slot, but when I restarted the computer, the computer did not recognize either the old integrated graphic card or the new one.  When I pulled the card back out, it recognized the old integrated card.
From what I've been reading, there's a suggestion that I uninstall the Intel Integrated graphics driver before trying the install again, then plugging in the new card, turning the power back on and letting Windows 7 choose the drivers necessary for the new card, then it might work.
But what if it doesn't.  Then I don't have the drivers for the old and it's gotten me nervous that I'll be without any graphics at all and unable to use the computer.
Any suggestions?  Don't know why this has me this nervous, but I guess it's that lag time between dealing with a motherboard.
    Appreciate any assistance, guys.
    Nervous in PA.

    Hi,
    I see two possibilities.
The AMD 8490 is not compatible with your PC.
The 250 watt power supply in your PC is insufficient.
Try clearing the CMOS and see if that helps.  If not, then try the BIOS update that is posted for your PC.

  • BSOD after installing Boot Camp, AMD Radeon 6630M driver issue

I have reinstalled Windows using Boot Camp twice now and get a blue screen right after installing the Boot Camp drivers and restarting.
I am installing Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit on my Mac mini 2011 edition. I created an install disk in Lion and used the option to copy the Boot Camp drivers into the disk.
I have narrowed the problem down to Apple's driver for the AMD Radeon 6630M graphics which my Mac mini has. The driver will install without errors but then the blue screen appears on next startup. If I use safe mode to uninstall the AMD driver, the blue screen goes away, but the display resolution is very low.
I checked for driver updates from AMD, but there are none for the 6630M.
    Anyone else having this issue?

    Hi,
I have installed Windows using Boot Camp and I also get the blue screen of death right after installing the Boot Camp drivers and restarting.
I am installing Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit on a i7 Mac mini 2011 edition. I created the USB install thumb within Lion's Boot Camp, and got downloaded the latest Bootcamp drivers (bootcamp 4.0). I connect the mac mini to a 24" iiyama screen with a HDMI cable. I don't have a DVI cable anymore unless i would have checked that point too.
I have also narrowed the problem down to Apple's driver for the AMD Radeon 6630M graphics which my Mac mini also has. The driver will install without errors but then the blue screen appears on next startup. If I use safe mode to uninstall the AMD driver or renaming the atikmdag.sys file (the main cause of the crash), the blue screen goes away, but the display can't get the effects such as Aero interface.
AMD provides official drivers that don't recognize its own 6630m graphic card with Apple, then doesn't install any up-to-date driver... Only Apple's AtiGraphics setup program will install the drivers...but it makes Windows 7 crash at each boot.
Thanks for your technical skills or info to come over this issue (or releasing a bootcamp update ?)

I follwed many of the discussions for this card but without results.
I unistalled from device manager the card driver.
I unistalled all the previous ATI and AMD installations and
then I installed again avga110w7 driver.

Now the laptop works with Standard VGA Graphics adapter.
What can I do for make work the card?
    Why is it so difficult?
    Can anybody help me?
    Thank you.
    John.

    Hi John,
As the application is not using the GPU, I suggest you to uninstall AMD Driver under Device Manager and make sure to put a check on the prompt asking to delete driver software. Then Check under Control Panel / Programs and Features / Uninstall any Catalyst or AMD Graphics Components.
Now install the AMD driver in the computer and then check if the same is displayed in the Device Manager, below is the link to download the driver. Then add the application using the catalyst control center as displayed in the below image.

The simple answer is "NO".  There is no place to insert the card. Here is the motherboard, and the card.  The motherboard has only 1 graphic PCIEx16 slot, and 3 PCIEx1 slots.
In the example below, the 4 pin ATX plug is marked.  Below that is the longer PCIEx16 slot, followed by 3 PCIEx1's.
