OK so I've completed my first Dual Athlon and I'm getting some varied results. here's the specs:
MSI K7D Master AMD Dual Athlon MP Motherboard ATX

I first tried a Wildcat 5110 but got no video, 3DLabs tells me this mobo has not been tested and cleared by them, so heads-up don't go with this mobo/video combo.
I went to NVIDIA and got video, I set the system jumper to 133MHz. I got a RAM error, change sticks (I have several of the same kind) but get the same result. After several attempts the machine boots and I install WinXP.
Now it is hit and miss sometimes I get the RAM error and the machine just sits there, sometimes it boots but the mouse doesn't work other times it seems to boot fine but the programs (3D Studio Max / Brazil) will just quit for no apparent reason. I set the BIOS to to check the RAM on start-up, it finds no errors.
I really appreciate hearing any ides or from anyone who has attempted this sort of thing before.

Well I got a call back from MSI customer service, they said try going to 'Advanced chipset' and change the 'AGP Fastload' from whatever it is to the opposite state (enable vs disable) I think the default is enable. I tried that, but it was the same if not worse. I reset the BIOS, set the fsb to 100MHz flipped the 'AGP Fastload' and that, of all things worked. Giving credit to the cs department - it did not work without changeing the Fastload state.
I got the 3DS Max/serverrunning and here are some statistics:
Rendered with Brazil, tons pf polygons, reflection and refraction.
Athlon 2500XP (non-Barton) 1gig unbuffered MSI KM4M:
3 hours 15 minutes per frame.
Intel P4 2.4 533MHz fsb 1 gig unbuffered MSI 845GE (northwood)
2 hours 54 minutes minutes per frame.
K7D Master 100Mhz fsb (non-Barton) 1gig unbuffered value ram.
1 hour 15 minutes per frame.
I will try the ecc registered RAM next week. If the results are this good with the jumper set to 100MHz I really looking forward to checking out the 133MHz...
Any suggestions on brand/configuration ?

Hello guys.
Im having a some problems with my CPU.
Since my english is not fluent and im not really a PC Engineer ill try to explain the problem best i can.
Im using MSI Control Center and i think i have some issues with my motherboard / processor.
Frequencies of CPU are very oscilating, they ussualy work at x16.0 but is that good? I mean i see they can work at up to x27.0 so should i maybe set them at x26.0?
If i should do that, can u tell me how? I dont want to hurt my system by doing something that i dont really understand.
Also ive noticed that my iGPU is always at 0 MHz. I dont know what is iGPU exactly but i think this cant be good.
If anyone can tell me how can i make my CPU steady in few simple steps and how to enable iGPU please.

Ive also forgot to mention that im getting Black Screen Bug while playing some games, League of Legends exactly. And i think its somehow related to my CPU, but im not sure.
After i start the game, whole screen goes black and im unable to do anything about it. I cant even ALT+TAB it so i ca see my CPU usage..completely cut off from my PC while this is hapening.
It does hapen always, each time i start the game and it lasts for about 1-2 minutes. Screen is blinking in black like its trying to refresh itself.

k just like 6 days ago i took out my motherboard and put in the rest of the motherboard risers the one by the ram had a plastic one in it and i put in all brass ones or whatever they are, and it started to bomb the on me drivers not installing correctly and stuff like what you guys are saying so i just took them back out last night and im gonna reinstall windows again to see if it helps( i reinstalled windows XP pro 5 times yesterday by the way trying to make my Radeon 9800XT work properly with the drivers and have 8x and fast write enabled cause that was messing up also) and i finally got it to where i could install most the drivers but 2 of my hard drives are missing so thats why im reinstalling, windows wont allow me to install the driver in any way so it might be somthing with the risers on the board
it was fine when it was missing the 3 on the end where the ide plugs are and i have my ram in slots 0 and 2 but that didnt seem to matter

K7T266 Pro2 won't recognize my AMD 1800 Athlon...
I just bought a K&T266 Pro2 V2.0 mobo and I have the latest bios V3.7 on it, it doesn't boot up with my AMD Athlon 1800 but did with an AMD 1333 Athlon. I tried clocking at 100 mhz and 133 mhz, but neither worked. Is the AMD Athlon 1800 an XP or not? I know the board only supports Athlons up to 1.4 ghz but a lot higher with XP cpu's. Thanks

Help... my KM4M-L displays Athlon Xp 2000+ as AMD Mobile Athlon 800
Hi guys,
I'm using the motherboard KM4M-L (MS-6734) with CPU Athlon XP 2000+ but it always displays my CPU as AMD Mobile Athlon 800 MHz even though I've already set the jumpers for cpu speed to 133. When I tested setting the cpu speed to 100 it showed my cpu as AMD Mobile Athlon 600 MHz so I assum that the multiplier has been set to 6 from the factory. But wait... it doesn't have the jumpers for setting multiplier! Or the motherboard sets multiplier automatically? What's wrong with my motherboard or cpu? (I'm sure my cpu is Athlon XP 2000+, I've checked by installed it to my friend's machine and that machine displayed the cpu correctly). Could anyone pls help?I concur with Nick. I'm also running the KM4M-L with a 2500+ (pre-week 3/39 unlocked) and there's no way to set multi or FSB in the BIOS.
I've blown the 3rd and 5th L3 bridges on the chip which gives it a default multi of 13 instead of 11. Not much of an overclock, but 2.16Ghz (instead of 1.83Ghz) is about the best I'd expect from default vCore.
Also, just to point out, the Mobile chips (at least in the case of my 2400+) default to the 6x multi, even in my NF7-S 2.0 board. I believe due to the PowerNow technology, they are set to start out at a minimum of 6x multi and can throttle up to as high as 13.5 depending on temp and power settings. (ie. remaining battery life) -

I have been trying to find out what the safe operating temperatures are for my Pentium 4 3.0 GHz Northwood Processor (Socket 478 µPGA 130nm).

Having had a complete disaster a couple of years ago with my Mobo and Processor failing I am now very nervous regarding operating voltages and temperatures. Despite the system supposedly shutting down when the temperatures rise to a dangerous level it didn't so I am now monitoring my PC (including the Processor) using Speedfan.
Since having the Mobo and Processor replaced I find that the processor rarely exceeds 30-40 °C with perhaps the occasional "blip" to 50 in some rare circumstances so have Speedfan set to sound an alarm at >50°C. I have no doubt that this is a very conservative figure but without any specification for the working temperature range for this processor I chose what appeared to be my all time high. From what you are suggesting I could well increase this threshold quite considerably.
Speedfan appears to be operating quite accurately as it seems to agree with the readings I get from SiSandra.
A definitive Intel specification for the operating temperature for my processor would therefore be most useful. -

If so, what happens when you try to download? Is it a case of nothing happens? If so, take a look at the suggestions under 'Stalled Download' in this link:

Also, some usrs have found that logging out of the Mac App Store and then back in again and starting over has kick-started the download. It seems that the 5+gb download can take a long time to give any feedback as to what's happening. -

Currently running Leopard 10.5.8 and about to update to Snow Leopard.It will run, if that's what you want. I'd think twice though. If you want to try Lion, upgrade your RAM to the max: 4GB's(Apple says 3, but your machine will run 4), however only a little over 3GB's will be able to be addressed(limitation of your computer). IMO, Lion needs a minimum of 4GB's of RAM to function properly. In your case, you'd be a little shy. I'd suggest you go to SL & stay there.
