AMDS could not be installed . The installer encountered errors

After installing ios 7 to my iphone it was necessary to update itunes on my computer (Windows 7 / 64) But this wasn't possible because following error occurs: "Apple Mobile Device Support was't installed on your computer. The installer encountered errors before Apple Mobile Device Support could be configured. ..." The last instance of AMDS, that runs without problems is 5.2.0.6. I have uninstalledItunes and AMDS using the win 7 uninstalling tools.

Hello Sterling r,
I have uninstalled and installed itunes / bonjour / apple software update / apple application support and apple mobile device support several times using the latest update - but that doesn't help. Perhaps I didn't uninstall at the first time in the correct order, so that a part of apple mobile device support remains and now  can't be installed correct ( the installer encountered errors ....) . (Code 52)".

I am using Vista 64 bit. Used 64 bit IE to download the proper file
    iTunes64Setup.exe
    from
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
But I get this error when I try to install:
The installer encountered errors before iTunes could be configured.
To retry these operations at a later time, please run the installer again.
Click Finish to exit the installer.
I tried installing when logged in as an administrator, and again as a a user, again same results. I tried uninstalling 32 bit iTunes 7.5 and rebooting, but the issue still remains. I manually wiped away the
    c:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
directory (had only one file in there after uninstall), same problem.
FYI, this is just my secondary machine, so I'm not worried about loosing anything. So registry cleaning likely. But first, I'll try installing on a pristine 64 bit Vista virtual machine, just to see if the installer binary itself runs correctly on a machine without a history of iTunes 32 bit.
Is this a known issue with 7.6 64 bit? Is there a workaround?
There are many search hits for similar errors under 7.5 32 bit, but I seem to be alone with this error with 64 bit installer, for now...

FYI, I downloaded iTunes64Setup.exe again (not from cache), despite same exact filesize on my hard drive, this time, no install error, problem solved. So perhaps Apple uses no built-in CRC error detection, but at least it works now. I'm so glad 64 bit Vista is finally properly supported without errors about CD burning when you start it (I never bothered with the gear drivers workaround).
I did notice it still installs in the
    C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
directory despite being a 64 bit app, not sure if that matters, and not sure if it's a side effect of having 32 bit version in that directory previously.

  • Trying to install iTunes and get this error: "The installer encountered errors before iTunes could be configured   Errors occurred during installation. Your system has not been modified"

    HELP!!!
I am trying to install iTunes on my Windows 7 laptop and get this error:
"The installer encountered errors before iTunes could be configured   Errors occurred during installation. Your system has not been modified"
Arghhhhh!! I've tried different browsers and various other things suggested on other posts to no avail

Ok people, I think I have found the solution !
If you click on the start button from your desktop screen.
Then in the "search programs and files" field type : apple software update - you can find the apple installer.
Click on the apple software update line and let the machine run it's course. I recommend updating whatever it wants to , ie: safari 5, quicktime, itunes....
I then restarted my computer and it seems to be working now !
    Good luck everyone !

  • What do I do when I am trying to install my new version of itunes, and it says this: The installer encountered errors before iTunes could be configured. Errors occurred during installation. Your system has not been modified.

What do I do when I am trying to install my new version of itunes, and it says this: The installer encountered errors before iTunes could be configured. Errors occurred during installation. Your system has not been modified.

I had this, and after a large number of fruitless attempts, I had to reload Windows, which solved it. This was of course a real pain, but I had to do it since updating iTunes was necessary in order to get the new iOS version. But before doing such a drastic thing, you could try to restore Windows to a previous point in time by picking a restore point. This of course presumes that you really have some issues with your Windows (which I had) and that you can make a decent guess on when the system was ok (which I couldn't), i.e that you can decide a good date to restore to.

  • Trying to download icloud control panel - only getting so far.  Got message: The installer encountered errors before iCloud Control Panel 2.1.2 could be configured.  Your system has not been modified.  To retry these operations at ltr time, pls run again.

First time on here... so not sure if doing correctly.
I'm tryng to download icloud control panel to my PC (have Windows 7 - so should be ok).  I only get so far - 2 times I've tried it.  Keep getting message:
The installer encountered errors before iCloud Control Panel 2.1.2 could be configured.
Your system has not been modified. To retry these operations at a later time, please run the installer again.
    huh?

As I mentioned before you need to start the iTunes installation, then do NOT allow it to complete. In other words go all the way to the point that the installer extract the installation files, then STOP right there.
Now look for the temp folder and the files I mentioned in my initial posting. If you don't find the temp folder it may be because you have "Do not show hidden files and folder" selected under "View Tab" in the "Folder Options". You may need to unselec it. If you don't know about hidden files and folders in Windows XP take a look here: http://txpress.blogspot.com/2007/05/show-hidden-filesfolders-in-windows.html
Another possibility is that you may have a different path for your temp folders. To find out where you temp folders are located please do the following:
    - Right click on "my computer"
    - Select the "Advanced" tab
    - Click on "Environment Variables"
Then look for the path for both variables "TEMP" and "TMP" take note of the path and check them out.
Or you may just go to a DOS Prompt and type the following commands:
    1 - %temp% and hit enter
    2 - %tmp% and hit enter
to both of these commands you will get a reply such as:
'c:\temp' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or bath files.
So by looking at the reply you can see that my temp folder is c:\temp
The above is the temp folder on my machine which I've customized to my own use. Your machine may be different.
I suggest you check for the iTunes temp folder inside both your temp folders locations "TEMP" and "TMP" as they may be in different locations.
IMPORTANT NOTE: If you allow the iTunes installation to complete you will NOT SEE the iTunes temp folder and files because it will be deleted as soon as iTunes processes the installation.
    Hope it helps.

  • The installer encountered errors before apple mobile device support could be configured

I'm having issues with installing apple mobile device support. Every time I try to install apple mobile device support I get this annoying message:
the installer encountered errors before apple mobile device support could be configured
I have tried these two ideas with no luck.
Had this issue, and none of the solutions above worked, here is what I did to fix the issue, Install Itunes like you normally would, admin rights ect. When you get the error message "Itunes errors occurred during installation before itunes could be configured" do not click finish, leave that folder up, no navigate to your appdata directory such as example C:\Users\Your Username\appdata\local\temp, inside there look for a file called iTunes64Setup.log or iTunes32Setup1850.log, open that up and scroll down, look for these key things as in example, "Executing: "C:\windows\system32\msiexec.exe" /i "C:\Users\Crusisxx\AppData\Local\Temp\IXP593.TMP\iTunes64.msi" INSTALL_SUPPORT_PACKAGES=1" so I would navigate inside the folder in my temp called "IXP593.TMP, there you will find all the installation packages, copy all of those files and paste either on your desktop or a new folder ect, once done you can now click finish on the failed itunes installer, now whether or not where ever you decided to place your files you copied from that temp folder you will want to run Itunes64.msi or Itunes.msi ect, and run the installer, you should now have successfully of installed Itunes.
Itunes 11.1.1 Errors occurred during installation...
I got it. I just first uninstalled iTunes then this:
1.Open up the Command Prompt as an Administrator (Go to All Programs > Accessories and Right Click on Command Prompt and then choose Run as administrator)
    2.Type cd C:\Windows\SysWOW64
3.Type regsvr32 vbscript.dll (This registers VB Script with your computer.)
4.Now install iTunes as you normally would by double clicking on the install program and wait for iTunes to finish installing.
5.Type regsvr32 /u vbscript.dll (This unregisters VB Script with your computer.)
Re: "This iPod cannot be used because the required software is not installed."
What else can I do and why is it not working?

Try this: Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8

    Hello darkhawk,
Thank you for the recommendation.  I somewhat understand what a MS DOS disk is, but I'm not sure how to go about creating one. I've seen where you can use a program, like Rufus, to create a usb one  - but I'm leery about using 3rd-party programs (especially ones I'm not familiar with). I've come across a couple of 'how-to' tuts, but they didn't clarify what files (if any) I would need to include on the disk (for my particular situation). Right now I don't have any blank cds, nor any extra flash/thumb drives - wish I did, but hadn't needed these for years. There has only been one other time where I needed to re-install Windows, but that was over 15 years ago - I did it through BIOS, reformatting my drives, and then reinstalled via the Windows XP disk. Windows 8 is an entirely different breed, which has left me feeling a bit stumped, at times. If there was a way I could perform it (successfully), similar to the first time I did it years ago, I'd give it a try - but at the same time, I'm a bit reluctant, because if it doesn't work, then I'm stuck without any internet access to get further help.
Ask and ye shall receive. This should be doable in Windows 7 and Windows 8 on another PC. I recommend using a USB Flash drive like in this tutorial, but I'm sure you could use something else.
If you want, you could also use Hiren's BootCD to make a bootable CD with many options and programs on it (I keep one, just for certain situations) that will allow you to do the same things.

Also very useful for sorting out virus's as long as it's downloaded and made on another PC that is virus free......

I have a macbook pro with the Snow Leopard system but I wanted to delete everything and reinstall it. I inserted the DVD disk that came with my macbook pro and pressed c .I deleted my Macintosh HD with the disk utility and after restating my mac and trying to install the new system I got an error - A yellow triangle (Install Failed

I have been looking all over the internet and read everything but nothing worked -HOW CAN I FIX IT ?

Help us understand what you are about. In your initial post your wrote:
I wanted to delete everything and reinstall it.
Why? Were you experiencing problems with the installation? Is the HDD in the computer the original drive that came with the computer?
Here is the procedure for formatting:
    • With computer shut down insert install disk in optical drive.
    • Hit Power button and immediately after chime hold down the "C" key.
    • Select language
    • Go to the Utilities menu and launch Disk Utility.
    • Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in left side bar.
    • Select Partition tab in main panel. (You are about to create a single partition volume.)
    • Click on Options button
    • Select GUID Partition Table
    • Click OK
    • Select number of partitions in pull-down menu above Volume diagram.
(Note 1: One partition is normally preferable for an internal HDD.)
    • Type in name in Name field (usually Macintosh HD)
    • Select Volume Format as Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
    • Click Partition/Apply button at bottom of panel.
    • Select Erase tab
    • Select the sub-volume (indented) under Manufacturer ID (usually Macintosh HD).
    • Check to be sure your Volume Name and Volume Format are correct.
    • Click Erase button
    • Quit Disk Utility.
Open installer and begin installation process.
If the above step by step directions don't work for you, your HDD may be defective.

  • ITunes could not connect to the iTunes Store "Error Message"

I recently added iTunes 7.6 to my Windows XP operating system at the same time when I added an *Ion USB Turntable (TTUSB).* I currently have the 80G iPod with the larger video screen. I added in the supplied software of the EZ Vinyl Converter. The software reads from Gracenote and imports into iTunes okay. But now my PC cannot access the iTunes store to buy songs, read the tracks on the discs, or display new album artwork. The diagnostic read the network connectivety test, the CD/DVD drive, and iPod connectivity tests all read okay. I followed the directions on checking the network settings under the Internet Options Tool "Connections" Lan Settings and the Automatic detection and still no dice. All I get is "Make sure your network is active."

I'm seeing this error on some, but not all, of my Windows XP machines. On my personal development XP box, I see this error if iTunes is closed when I try and access iTunes U via my transfer script or Stanford's.
"iTunes could not connect to the Music Store. The network connection was terminated unexpectedly. Make sure your network connection is active and try again."
The errors occured in IE 7 Beta, Firefox 1.5.x, and Firefox 2 Beta. In each case, iTunes U loaded after I clicked the 'ok' button in iTunes. I did notice that in Firefox's case an additional pop-up window appeared that asked whether or not I had iTunes; when I selected that I do have itunes, it transfered me to iTunes but generated the error.
After getting these errors on my Windows XP machine, I tried it on two different lab machines running Windows XP, and didn't get the error message once -- I tried it in IE 6, Firefox 1.0.x and Firefox 1.5.x and they all worked. It even worked with IE 7 Beta and Vista Beta.
Based on this, I think the problem must lie in how Windows registered iTunes, and the handshake just isn't happening properly.

  • "iTunes could not connect to the Music Store" Error Message

    Hello all,
I finally got my script running correctly and I can see the front page of my iTunesU site(Yay!). But I am getting an irritating error message, and what is unusual are the circumstances under which I see the error message and the circumstances under which I do NOT see the error message. Allow me to elaborate.
    Scenario #1
I have iTunes open on my computer. I go to the login page I created on my school's website and login. I watch as the "Music Store" page on iTunes gives way to the front page of my iTunesU site. Perfection! This is the behavior I want!
    Scenario #2
I DO NOT have iTunes open on my computer. I go to the login page I created on my school's website and login. I watch as iTunes begins to open and then spits out this error message:
"iTunes could not connect to the Music Store. An unknown error occurred. Make sure your network connection is active and try again."
There is also an error number attached to the error message but it changes from time to time with no explanation. Here is the strange part. If I just hit "OK" on the error message my iTunesU site opens fine.
I've tried this on my home and work computers and a friend's computer and the behavior is the same. Moreover I surfed over to the Stanford iTunesU login page: http://itunes.stanford.edu/ and I get the same behavior(which pretty much rules out in my mind that it is a problem with my script).
I guess it isn't a huge deal. Worse comes to worse we can tell the students and faculty, if you see an error message from iTunes just hit "OK". But I'm rolling out this slick new iTunesU site and this error message is like a scratch in the paint job. Plus my boss is looking over my shoulder like "what's that error?" and it is starting to detract from the computer whiz kid image I've worked so hard to cultivate
    My possible suspects are:
iTunes - (Went over to the iTunes discussion board and a lot of people report similar error messages when trying to get into the Music Store but I couldn't find anyone who said hitting "OK" made it possible to proceed)
My script -(seems unlikely since Stanford has the same problem)
The configuration on the computers I've tested it on - (But I've tested it on three different computers!)
iTunesU - If this is the problem I'm hoping you people can help me.
So has anyone else experienced this?
Try to login into your iTunesU page with and without iTunes already open. See any error messages or weird behavior?
Try the same thing on Stanford's site: http://itunes.stanford.edu/
If you can repeat my result then post it here so Apple will know this is an issue. If you can't repeat my result then post it here so that I might know I need to look elsewhere for the problem.
Thank you for your kind attention.

  • When I try to install iTunes (10.5.3) on my laptop, I get the same message. It says "The installer encountered errors before iTunes could be configured. Errors occurred during installation. Your system has not been modified." Anyone know how to fix it?

I began this trouble shooting exercise by selecting Download Only through the Apple Update applet. Running the msi manually did not resolve the problem. In fact, it was more frustrating because the download package would disappear after running even though it failed, and I had to download it again. "Cleanup" I suppose. <frown>
I followed advice to remove the Apple Software Update program, reboot and re-run the msi. That did not resolve the failure.
I then followed advice to set permissions for Administrators on registry key HKLM\Software\Micorosoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData\S-1-5-18\Com ponents
then reboot and run the update msi again. This also did not resolve the failure.
I downloaded the installer from the Apple download site as though it were a fresh install, and - voila! - it installed correctly and all content and settings were preserved. Hopefully that is all that is needed, not the steps above. Let me know! http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

I've been having trouble with my computer ever since I turned it back on after leaving for six months and now every time I try to install certain things or update things it says there's an error that occurs and it's keeping me from downloading stuff like Google Chrome and iTunes. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm running windows xp 32 bit.

I am having a similar problem, except I'm running Vista 32 bit. I haven't had issues with any other software but iTunes is giving me no end of trouble. The problem started when I tried updating to the .4 version of iTunes when it first came out. I could still use the program and transfer data from iTunes to my iPhone so I didn't worry too much about it. Recently though I wanted to upgrade my iPhone software but received a message saying I need to upgrade my iTunes before I can upgrade my iPhone. After a few tries iTunes won't even RECOGNIZE my iPhone.  I keep getting an error that the mobile device recognition isn't working.
I tried uninstalling iTunes and installing the new download directly from the iTunes website. I used Chrome, Mozilla, and Internet Explorer with the same results. I think my computer may be corrupted and I need to wipe the harddrive. I really don't want to get to that point but if someone smarter then me doesn't have answer soon I think that is my only option.

  • Can't install iTunes 10.5.3.3 x64 on Windows 7, the installer encountered errors

I have uninstalled all of Apple software many times and reinstalled 10.4 x64, which works.  I tried running the installation as administrator.  I gave everyone permission to install.  I have turned off my anti-virus software.  No success.

Try this approach as it worked in my situation.  Just a shot-
I found msicuu2.exe (Windows Installer Cleanup Utility) for free and used that tool to remove iTunes from my machine and then reinstalled iTunes. This fixed my problem.  Microsoft use to have the tool on their site to download and no longer do (I can only assume since it was so easy to use that people removed things they shouldn't have and it became to big a pain for Microsoft to deal with).  With that said, I was able to find the tool at another site.  It was an easy fix after I installed the cleanup utility and I had iTunes reinstalled in minutes.
Was getting errors due to a previous windows installer package corrupted and not deleted. (last itunes update). Download from the internet and run this program selecting Itunes to be removed.  (you won't lose your music content), then restart your computer.  When you restart re-download Itunes 10.5.3  and reinstall.  It will automatically reload a non corrupted installer package and will go find all your music, files, etc. to restore by itself.  No problems what so ever resinstalling and getting all my stuff to add to my new Touch afterwards.
note:  I spent hours researching this issue and it worked in my case.  Hopefully it helps-
