AMDS WILL NOT INSTALL!!! HELP PLEASE

Hi everyone,
Thanks for looking. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
-iTunes 9.0.2
-Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
-2 iPod Touch (Late 2009) v 3.1.2
I am unable to get Apple Mobile Device Support to install on the computer. I have tried downloading the drivers for AMDS from outside websites and unzipping them into the correct folder (C>Program Files x86>Common Files>Apple) but unfortunately even unzipping this to this location does not help because of the fact that I have not merged them into the reg edit. Don't really want to do that because of the risk of dumping the whole computer. I saved the setup64.exe to the desktop and attempted to install as normal, compatibility mode(as Windows Vista w/SP2, as Admin), and in safe boot. None of which will install the AMDS. I have also attempted to install 9.0.1 64-Bit with the same luck. I have spent about 8 hours in all trying to get this work. When I attempted the install as normal the iPods were not recognized, but when I installed in compatibility mode the iPod was recognized as a digital camera in computer and device manager as a USB Mass Storage Device. So I went into Start>Control Panel>Hardware and Sound>Auto Play>Choose Take no Action, But the device still shows as a digital camera in computer because of course there is no AMDS. If i go into device manager and right click the device and select update it says the best device drivers are currently installed. Have also put the iPod touch into recovery mode and it will pop the new driver software bubbles in the bottom right but then it displays that the device drivers were not installed correctly and the more details sections advised you that the drivers did not install because AMDS is not currently installed. I think I'm at the end of the road here and thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

  • 10.7.2 will NOT install help please

    iMac 27 (2.8 / 4gb) and my mbp (2.8 / 4gb)
Neither of then will take the 10.7.2 update. Both machines reported the corrupted update (not expandable or corrupted during download error) after The lion recovery update downloads / installs, the OS update completely downloads and reboots. On reboot the machines both error out 30 seconds into the install.
There is a thread on here that states others have had the same issue and worked through it using a combination of the repairing their disk permissions and immediately installing the update from the downloaded combo update DMG and NOT using software update.
When I download and launch the update combo update dmg or the client update (non combo?) dmg ALL of the dmg's also error out on INVALID checksum ... On two completely separate machines, I get invalid checksums from dmg's from the apple site? someone please explain.  Even if I skip the verification the installer looks normal until it starts to install and then also errors out.
The reports that have been successful at getting the update to install all report that repairing the permissions are the cure... - when I repair disk permissions, I get a load of system/library/coreservices/remotemanagment/ardagent.app....... Junk that should be.... And i get the same list on both machines. The permmisions repair lists them as repaired.
.... Then if I DO nothing, other than simply press "repair disk permissions" again, it lists all the same mess of mismatched perms....
    Please help?

thank you for your reply putnik- i'm sorry my explanation was confusing. i'll try to clarify my explanation and shelve the frustrations.
I am currently sitting at 10.7.1.  When I ORIGINALLY started this adventure, I did my usual update through Software Update and there were two items listed:
    "Lion Recovery Update"
    "Mac OS X 10.7.2"
I simply allowed all to proceed as normal.  When the machine rebooted to install the OS update- it verifies the installer for about 30 seconds and then I get -
"The update "Mac OS X Update" can't be installed. The update could not be expanded and may have been corrupted during downloading. The update will be downloaded and checked again the next time that Software Update runs."
And this is where I cannot get past. No mater what procedure I do- I cannot get the download to install on either of my machines.  https://discussions.apple.com/message/16378707#16378707
is an earlier thread that I has been experiencing the same issues, and this is where I got the info regarding the disk permision repairs- and trying to install from the downloaded image and not through Software Update.
This makes no sense to me.  I have downloaded the update dmg from apple at least 10 times on two different machines, and on every one- their checksum is invalid? Even when I check the checksum with disk utility it reports an error?
Only other thing of note is that my iPads will also not update through itunes and also report that the download was corrupted or damaged during download?
I'm stuck.  I hope that this explanation is clear?

  • Garageband will not install, Help, Please!

Where does the App store download files to?
I am having loads of problems with App store on my iMac running 10.6.7, my MacBook is fine and working as it should, but my iMac is a total disaster. It started with Update buttons appearing on the Purchases tab, which you cannot update because of the "log into the account" error and I tried all the methods outlined on the forum, none of which worked. I ended up trashing the offending apps and re-installing them. My only problem now is Garageband. It has gone. Every time I open the App store it asks me to install it, which I do, waiting 5 minutes sometimes whilst it downloads. Then nothing, it just won't install. Is there any files I should delete from the old install? It has me stumped. Any ideas?

Try a Spotlight search for Garageband. If it appears under Applications double click on it to start it, close the intro page, then on the top menu click on Garageband and then About and see what version it is.
The download you get when you are notified of a software update is a delta update as it only includes what is needed to move you from 10.6.6 to 10.6.7. The combo update contains all of the updates since the start, hence it can move you from 10.6.0 to 10.6.7, or anything in between. It is also why it is much larger than a delta update file. To my knowledge it does not contain any new updates for Garageband or anything else. It is always a good thing to try if you have problems after an OS update and some people will only manually install the combo update.
You might also want to try booting from your OS X disk and repairing permissions on your disk (there are also many different opinions on this, but it won't hurt anything).
Let us know how you get on.

You probably need to either uninstall and reinstall itunes or to download the apple application support by itself
you can download the itunes http://www.apple.com/itunes/ here
then to do a complete uninstall / reinstall follow these instructions http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1923
you could also use 7zip to extract the individual installer for apple application support from the itunes setup file http://www.7-zip.org

  • Simply will not install! Please help...

    Hello guys.
Recently managed to buy myself a new MacPro and have given my old PowerMac G4 (AGP Graphics) to my daughter to work with while at university on her Art course.
This original machine (with a bus speed of 100) has been upgraded so that it now has the following specs:
    Machine Name: Power Mac G4
    Machine Model: PowerMac3,3
    CPU Type: PowerPC G4 (3,3)
    Number of CPUs: 1
    CPU Speed: 1.2GHz
L2 Cache (per CPU): 256 KB
    L3 Cache (per CPU): 2MB
    Memory: 1.31 GB
    Bus Speed: 100 MHz
    Boot ROM Version: 4.2.8f1
It also has a RADEON 9200 Graphics Card.
Bought FCE for her to start her editing... but it simply will not instal. It WILL install the accomp[anying "Live Type" and "Soundtrack" applications perfectly, but the "Final Cut Express" application remains dimmed out when running the installer from the disks.
Have I overlooked something in the specs and done something horribly stupid?
Any help you can offer would be mightily, mightily appreciated. Thank you.

You don't say what the Operating System is.
It should be at least OSX 10.4.6 and QuickTime 7.0.4.
    Ian.
SORRY ! I have just noticed the 10.4.9 at the bottom of your post.

  • AMDS will not install as part of 10.7 upgrade. have reinstalled many times..even manually.  cannot change permissions in windows\system32\driverstore\filerepository\usb.inf_amd64_neutral_153b489118ee3 7b8

I have reinstalled Itunes 10.7 many times...each time it comes back and says that it cannot recognize my iphone because AMDS is not installed...yet when I try to install it fails...and asks me to reinstall Itunes again.  It seems as though it may be realated to the usb.inf file in usb.inf_amd64_neutral_153b489118ee37b8.
I have seen where others fix the issue by changing permissions on the folder and replacing the file...the file says it is 6kb...but when I open the file...there is nothing there.  I cannot even change the permission on the folder...even as an administrator.  Please help!!!

I have had this problem with Windows 7 and iTunes updates for some time. Each time it takes hours to solve but with the over the air upgrade to IOS6 on my iPhone and iPad, I was determined to solve and remember what I did, So here it is:

Only certain apps that had this feature added will show from an original iPad to a video out - whether VGA or HDMI. It does not have true mirroring, like the iPad2 does.

  • FCP4.5 w/OS10.4.7, FCP5.1 not installing  HELP please !

I have an older G5 dual proc, originally w/dual 500, upgraded to dual 1.3. Still has the original graphics card. Had been running OS 10.3.9 w/FCP 4.5, everything OK.
I just upgraded the OS to 10.4.6, bought full retain install, just updated to 10.4.7 over the internet.
Now, FCP HD 4.5 will not see my DV decks for capture - all decks, switched cables. NO difference. Checked all the settings, which are correct, so I'm guessing something driver-side may be out of whack.
I borrowed install disks from my office for Final Cut Studio 5 to do a test install on my Mac, to get me through captures and editing I have to do this weekend for a freelance client. Fully intending to buy the update, once biz resumes this week, assuming this upgrade solved my problem.
BUT FCP 5 will not install... on the list of products in the install menu, FCP is greyed out, as it is preventing me from installing it on my Mac. I checked the minimum requirements, all seems ok, except perhaps the graphics card.
Has Apple has upped the minimum graphics card for FCP5, (from what was ok for FCP 4.5) and thus my present card will not meet spec, so FCP will not install? Thus I'm doubly screwed? I need to upgrade to FCP to solve the problem w/not seeing my DV drives any more, but to do that I need to upgrade my graphics card?
    thanks!
    1) From Apple's FCP 5 installer:
Minimum Hardware Requirements to Install Individual Final Cut Studio Applications
    • Final Cut Pro 5
    • A Macintosh computer with a single 500 MHz or faster PowerPC G4 or G5 processor (550 MHz for PowerBook G4), any Macintosh computer with dual PowerPC G4 or G5 processors, or any Macintosh computer with an Intel Core Duo processor; 1 GHz or faster single processor or dual processors required to use HD
    • 512 MB of RAM (1 GB recommended); 1 GB required to use HD
    • AGP or PCI Express Quartz Extreme graphics card
    2) From my system profiler:
    ATY,Rage128Pro:
    Chipset Model: ATY,Rage128Pro
    Type: Display
    Bus: AGP
    Slot: SLOT-A
    VRAM (Total): 16 MB
    Vendor: ATI (0x1002)
    Device ID: 0x5046
    Revision ID: 0x0000
    ROM Revision: 113-72701-125

I have an older G5 dual proc, originally w/dual 500, upgraded to dual 1.3. Still has the original graphics card. Had been running OS 10.3.9 w/FCP 4.5, everything OK.
Is this an old G4? Those were the only DP 500s
    Chipset Model: ATY,Rage128Pro
    Type: Display
    Bus: AGP
    Slot: SLOT-A
    VRAM (Total): 16 MB
FCP 5.1 will not run on that card, no not have details right now, but minimum VRAM is more than 16 MB if I recall
Sounds more like an issue with the OS that messed up FCP 4.5. Do you see the deck in System Profiler?

  • PowerShell 3.0 will not install. Please Help

I've got a Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard 64bit and according to system properties Service Pack 1 installed.
However looking under installed updates the KB976932 is not installed.
My goal is to install PowerShell 3.0 however I get the message the update is not applicable to the system.
So far I've verified all requirements are in place I have .NET Framework 4.5.1 Version 4.5.50938
I have PowerShell 2.0 installed and WinRM is running BITS Version 7.5.7601.17514 is also installed.
I also enabled PowerShell ISE in the features so it too works.
So the only other prerequisite is SP1 and depending on where you look that is installed also.
I've also downloaded the system update readyness tool 64bit (KB947821) and this didn't solve the problem either.
I looked at the CheckSUR.persist.log and found No errors detected. However it did have this line just below that message.
    (w)
Unable to get system disk properties

    windows installer has stopped working
a problem caused the program to stop working correctly.
windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is avabilable.
    ... and that's one that I wasn't thinking of ...
Head into your Windows Update. Are there any new updates available for you? If so, and you install, does that clear up the error message?

  • CC desktop app will not install, help

I have a MacBook Pro OSX v10.8.5 and purchased PS via the CC with an annual membership. I can not get CC installed on my computer! heres what happens:
    1. I click CC installer icon on desktop
    2. a text box appears saying "CC Installer wants to make changes. Type your password to allow this." I do do that.
    3. Initalizing installer pops up, loads quickly, then disappears.
4.Then a white verticle rectangle with a black toolbar on top  (home/apps/ file/ behance) appears and a loading circle spins.
    5. This loading circle will spin forever and nothing happens. Ive tried restarting computer, uninstalling and reinstalling the installer, and updating my comps software.
    What can I do?
    Thanks.

Jubarudi please try solution 2 in CC desktop lists applications as "Up to Date" when not installed - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/aam-lists-removed-apps-date.html.  Removing the OPM.db file should resolve the difficulties you are currently experiencing.

  • Error when starting iTunes... will not start. help please!!

so earlier I downloaded the latest version of iTunes and was having trouble installing it. I downloaded it a while ago when it was version 4 but I completely deleted it and installed version 7.
eventually I got it to work, however when I went to start it I got an error saying that it encountered a problem and needs to close. then another one comes up saying that it generated problems and I need to restart the program. I did, and the same thing happened.
I uninstalled and reinstalled the entire thing 3 times; same error. I called Apple Support and they said they couldn't help me b/c I am operating in Windows XP, and Microsoft's support is closed right now. I tried repairing it and nothing works. can anyone help please??

hmmmm. okay, if your itunes.exe is running continually in Task Manager, that suggests that you don't have the Qoologic problem that Ewido fixes. (with that one, the itunes.exe typically just shows up for a few seconds, if at all ... although in some cases of multiple malware infections, it hangs around for 10 to 30 seconds.)
so let's check on the usual suspects when itunes.exe persists in Task Manager.
if you've got Norton Internet Security 2005, try the trusty Lorraine M technique:
    Lorraine M: NIS/itunes problem rectified
... but if you don't have NIS 2005, or it doesn't seem to work for you, let's also check up on this possibility:
iTunes for Windows doesn't open after upgrading

  • Safari will not install, HELP!!

My update to Safari Beta was interrupted and never installed, but in the process Safari 2 was removed from the system. Anyways, I can't find a safari version to install, every version I have tried tells me I need a different version of the OS.
Example:Trying to install 2.0.1, at Select Destination, I select Macintosh HD and the Installer gives me the !You cannot install Safari Update on this volume this
software requires Mac OSX 10.4.2. and Safari 3 Beta give me the !You cannot install Safari 3 Beta on this volume. This volume does not meet the requirements for this update.
Any clues? I am running the latest OS and

What seems to have happened is that the 3 beta has removed Safari 2.0.4 and not installed 3 - unfortunately you cannot install 2.0.1 because it's too old and 3 won't install because it doesn't see a version 2! You should note that safari is an extension of webkit and if this has been updated in the OS to the v.3 version then this could also stop the beta from installing as it thinks it's already in there. May be the uninstaller will work if it's there?
I'm not sure what to recommend here, sorry, I'm afraid the lesson is to stay away from betas!!
Best guess from here is to archive and install from your OS disk (a pain if it's 10.4.0 I know) and update from there - any other suggestions, anybody?
