AME 7.2 hangs indefinitely at mid-point

Hi I'm having an issue with AME that only appeared yesterday. When I send sequences from PPCC 7.2.1 they queue up just fine, but the encode hangs everytime at the mid-point on VBR 2-pass mp4, right when the temp .m4v.md0 file is created. The program still responds (not frozen), but the encode doesn't move even after hours. Without queuing, it 'exports' fine straight from PPCC.
What I've tried:
Updated both AME and PPCC
Updated graphics driver (GTX680 Mac)
Updated CUDA driver
Disabled CUDA (software only)
'Cleaned' cache
Deleted all cache files via Finder
Encoding to different drives
Encoding with different bitrate/size/audio (but always 2-pass VBR)
Unchecked 'enable native Premiere Pro sequence import'
Deleted AME preferences (held option at startup)
Deleted PPCC preferences
My machine:
Mac Pro 5,1
OSX 10.8.5
2 x 2.66Ghz 6-Core Xeon
40GB RAM
SSD system drive
External media drives
Any ideas or suggestions??
Thanks

Deleted AME preferences (held option at startup)
Deleted PPCC preferences
You should hold the Shift key down to clear AME prefs.  Hold Alt/Opt down to clear Premiere prefs.
What happens if you export using 1 pass?  If it's freezing at the halfway point with 2-pass encoding perhaps the 2nd pass is causing the issue.

  • AME CS5.5 Hanging at 75% & Drive Update for NVIDIA GeForce GTX-470

    Hello,
I am having problems with AME CS5.5 hanging as well.  I was wondering if somone from Adobe can tell me if the latest Driver upgrade for my NVIDIA GeForce GTX 470 card of 285.62 is safe/recomended for Adobe CS5.5 Premiere/AME/Encore/After Effects programs.  I do not want to cause any additional issues with my Adobe related issues.  My present driver is 280.26...Thanks, Steve

I installed the update after creating a restore point.
I guess it's safe, but the behavior is the same.  I still have the hanging issue.
I hope that this bug gets fixed soon.,

  • Why Levels mid-point slider and Exposure Gamma Correction slider not the same?

Both the mid-point slider in Levels and the Gamma Correction slider in Exposure adjustment appear to modify Gamma.  They even use the same numeric scale.
When Gamma <= 1, both sliders appear to produce the same results (confirmed with a couple of random sample settings and using the Difference blend mode).
When Gamma > 1, however, the results are very different.  Levels produces more what one would expect in terms of moving the Gamma curve without moving the white and black points but the Exposure Gamma Correction slider seems to do something very different, either moving the black point or applying a very different curve the produces much brighter tones in the dark shadows.
Can anyone explain why and how these two adjustments produce different results?
Is this a bug with the Exposure adjustment?
By the way, in my limited tests of this I was just using a standard RGB file in 16-bit mode - nothing fancy like 32-bit or LAB or anything like that.  Also, Photoshop CS6 Extended.  Both 32- and 64-bit versions show the same behavior.
    Thanks.

The differing gamma adjustment results also occur in the OS X version of Ps 13.0.1
The situation is worse than you realize, Dennis. Test with a linear grayscale gradient in 16-bit or 8-bit RGB mode instead of arbitrary images. Remember to view at 100% zoom for an accurate display.
Gamma adjustments of less than 1 performed by Levels adjustment layer and Exposure adjustment layer do differ but to a less obvious extent than when the adjustment is greater than 1. Differences can be seen in histograms, and low level differences when differencing layers can be made more obvious by adding an Exposure adjustment layer with the exposure increased.
You'll get further different results by using the gamma adjustment in the "Exposure and Gamma" method of Image > Adjustment > HDR Toning. Notice that the gamma value there has to be specified as the inverse of that in Levels and Exposure.
I haven't bothered to calculate which, if any, of the three gamma adjustment controls gives correct results because that is Adobe's responsibility.
It's quite ridiculous that a common routine giving consistent and correct results isn't being used for all these gamma adjustments. Code re-use makes software more robust, simpler to test, simpler to correct, leaner and overall easier to manage. But what do I know.

  • Mid point of Paygrade - Infoset

    Hi,
We have a custom infoset (LDB PNPCE) in an Ad hoc query. IT 0008 is also a part of this infoset. When I run this query by seleting the max, mid & min point pay grade under IT 0008, it does NOT give any output for hourly employees but gives output for salaried employees.
Can anyone suggest why this is happening? Also I did check T510, T510A, T510N & T710, but could not find mid point pay grade.
    Pls. suggest.
    Thanks
    SKR

    Hi Sharavan,
to get min, max and mid point you can check table T710. I had exactly same requirement a few months back. I ended up creating custom fields for min, max and reference point (mid), as you cannot join another table with your pNPCE logical database in queries.
I have documented the step by step process for others to get some direction, here is the link: SAP Adhoc Query SQ01 SQ02 SQ03
Also, you can find same question posted in another thread for inclusion of OM infotypes in your PNPCE based infoset. Here is the link: Need Help! Ad Hoc Query in HR Tables

  • [SOLVED] makepkg tends to hang indefinitely when building

I'm not that new to arch.  I'm currently installing arch via VB on MBP.
The makepkg command is hanging indefinitely when I'm trying to make multiple packages -- specifically cower and package-query
I get something like the following:
    ==> Creating package "cower"...
And then it hangs indefinitely.  I've waited like 10 minutes.  The same result occurred with package-query.
Is there anything I can do to debug this problem?

  • "Loading Public Synonyms" in SYS schema hangs indefinitely

When I try to expand "Public Synonyms" in SYS schema tree, the "Loading Public Synonyms" message window appears and hangs indefinitely without giving any result.
Trying the same in Reports/All Objects/Public Synonyms I get the result within a second.
    What's wrong?
    I'm running SQL Developer 1.1.2.25.79, Oracle Database 10g R2 (10.2.0.3) on 32-bit RHEL-4.4 AS using Sun jdk1.6.0_01.
    N.J.

If you do a select count(*) from dba_synonyms where owner='PUBLIC' you'll get a figure around 20,000 (I get 19697 from a 10.2.0.1 database out of a total of 23992). So, it'll not only take a while to return all the public synonyms but it'll also take a while to sort the output.
However, I've created a test report with the following SQL and it works quickly
    select *
    from dba_synonyms
    where owner='PUBLIC'
I guess it's a bug in SQL Developer - perhaps one of the development team could confirm?

  • Trackpad zoom gesture  hangs up between "focused points"

In Safari, the trackpad zoom gesture more often than not hangs up between "focused points," that is, you have to repeat the gesture slightly to get it to focus properly.  I assume this is a common defect and I thought I saw a reference to fixing it in the last big OS 10.7 update.  No luck.  Any feedback on this?

    Hello:
There is a feedback section for enhancement thoughts for Apple.  These forums are user-to-user.  Apple employees administer them, but it would be unusual if a suggestion were picked up from here, I think.

  • Long term planning,mid point scheduling,finite scheduling

    Dear Sir,
Please explain the Long term planning, mid point scheduling and finite scheduling in simple words
    thnx.

    Hi,
LTP: Long term planning used to simulate your future production plan. Based on your future production plan, you can check by simulation, loading the products requirements in the inactive planning version and defining the inactive planning version in the scenario and you can execute the MRP run. Then the system will create the capacity requirements and you can see the overloads. Based on this simulation run, you can include any new work centres and increase the manpower or increase the shifts.
Finite Scheduling: This will consider the real details, like the no of work centres and working hours per day and working days in a year and considering the existing loads. This is called finite scheduling. R/3 does infinite scheduling. If the capacity not exist also you can release the production orders.
    Regards,
    V. Suresh

My question is: Often times when I am opening a new page, the page hangs indefinitely, unless I hit the reload button. Sometimes I have to do this several times. The tab shows that it is trying to connect, but it won't. I have also experienced when the page loads incorrectly and all I get is a jumbled mess to the left side of the page. I mistakenly thought it was a problem with my carrier but now realize it's Mozilla. I am having more problems now than I did with Internet Explorer and am ready to go back! edit

I can't seem to get local help to work. Whether I click Download from the General tab or Update from the local content tab, it just hangs indefinitely. I literally left it overnight and it just kept showing the "working" popup but nothing was downloaded or even begun. So I agree, local content seems non-existent. (I'm on Mac OSX Lion).

  • Notes randomly hanging with external MIDI device

I have recently moved to Logic Express on an Imac from PC where I used Cubase SX for many years (I was eventually driven mad by audio problems etc..!) I have a Roland JV 1080 Synth module which I still love, but something in about my new set up does not feel the same way! I am using an M Audio Fast Track Pro interface USB interface for audio and for the MIDI link to the JV 1080. The frustrating thing is I keep getting hanging notes that occur randomly. I have managed to deduce that the hanging occurs more frequently when notes overlap by between 2 and 12 ticks but there are even exceptions to this! I have had no problem of this kind with the JV 1080 before, but maybe it is reacting badly to the Fast Track and or Logic? It has baffled the experts in my local Apple Store. I have the latest drivers for Logic and the Fast Track Pro. Any suggestions?

Thanks very much for the reply, but, although I don't want to talk to soon, I think I've sorted it! I have managed to get Logic to recognise my old Midisport 2x2 USB (the lime green box) and the problem seems to have gone away! I hesitate to point the finger directly at the Fast Track Pro because I think the cause was more subtle than that - it was a combination of devices that for some dark, hidden reason were destined never to work properly together! Thanks any way. I love my Mac again.

  • AME CS5.5 hangs on "Reading XMP"

Been having this issue ever since I upgraded to 5.5...
Finish a video in Premiere, export to AME, click the play/start encode. In the encode status, it gets to "Processing: Reading XMP" and simply hangs there indefinitely (hours). Clicking to stop/pause the encode doesn't actually stop it, only way to do anything is to force-quit AME. Then it won't re-open until a restart. Only way I can export my final video from Premiere is the direct export, which works well enough when it's a single video basis, but when I want to do a batch of exports, or continue editing something else while exporting, this completely puts me at a stand-still.
Any idea what's with AME just stalling out on me here?

I would be happy to share them with you.  However, I ran into some problems.  The files we're on an external drive and I had shut down and disconnected the drive.  Even though the computer was OFF when I disconnected, when I reconnected it Windows wanted to scan the drive and like an idiot I said OK.  The project file, and other supporting files are all reporting zero (0) bytes.  The only thing still there is the MXF video files.  Even the exported files I had made one by one are at zero bytes.
So I'm in the process of re-creating the project.  I'm starting over from scratch with a different drive for the raw video files.  I'll re-create the sequence, make my edits and I'm going to try to export with AME again.
So what would you like?  The original MXF files?  Or would you like me to finish re-creating the project and see if I run into the same issues?
One thing I'm trying different this time is I went into the Media Preferences and I unchecked the two boxes relating to XMP data. I'm seeing if that will make a difference.

  • Solaris Management Console hangs indefinitely

    Hi,
We have two t5240 servers on which Solaris 10 update 7 was fresh installed. Apparently some patches were applied by the guys who did the initial installation as well.
    My problem is as follows:
    1) I try to start SMC from a terminal (either using X11 forwarding or on local X server)
    2) SMC splash screen appears
    3) SMC shows up (and shows "Configuring the Management Server")
    4) At the bottom left "Starting console","loading toolbox...." and "toolbox successfully loaded..." messages are printed (no error messages either on the console or on the SMC screen)
    5) Following that phase, SMC hangs up indefinitely, progress bar goes left and right showing signs of activity but nothing happens. No login screen shows up.
Regarding the troubleshooting documents, i have already checked output of /etc/init.d/init.wbem status command.Server just runs fine. But I still feel like I am missing something important. Maybe something related with login services etc.
I would be glad if anybody could suggest a solution
    Thanks,

  • AME watch folder - hangs when too many files

I have about 350 vob files in a watch folder, ever time I start up AME it seems to start processing them but it just starts "not responding".  I noticed that it is writing files to the Media Cache folder but then just eventually stops after about a min or two.   If I only put like 20 files in the folder it works ok.
Is there a way to disable the media cache files from being written?  I don't know that they are necessary just for what I'm doing (i'm not previewing or anything).  I don't know that it is the issue but it seems AME is hanging on the # of files and the fact that they are VOB/mpeg2.  Has anybody ever experienced this?
The # of files is not a one time deal, this will be a reoccurring issue and it would be much nicer to be able to just dump all the files and be done.
I'm using CS5.5, Win 7 64bit, recent i7 Sandy Bridge proc, 16GB ram.  The watch folder is on a Synology NAS connected via gigibit, maybe that is part of the problem (that it is not local).  The media cache folder is on a local 2TB drive (WD Black) with plenty of room.
    Any insight would be appreciated.
    thanks
    Ryan

The fact that the watch folder is not local to the AME machine may indeed factor in.The process is definitely more robust in a local scenario; network environments complicate matters in a number of ways. Can you run a test where you copy the same batch of files to a watch folder on the AME box?
    A few other questions:
Is the "Auto-Encode Watch Folders"  option enabled (at the top right of the Queue panel)? And are all 350 files getting added to the AME queue?
If Auto-Encode *is* enabled and some jobs are *not* getting added to the queue, then please try with Auto-Encode enabled.
We're not suggesting this as a workaround but just to give us more insight into where things are failing.
What are CPU and memory usage though the process, from the time you drop files into the watch folder until AME hangs? Are either getting maxed out?
How big are the VOB files? How long does it take to copy all of them into the watch folder?
I know of no way to disable the creation of media cache files.
Thanks for bringing this issue to our attention and giving us an opportunity to troubleshoot it.
