AME at 70% cpu while AE at 100%
I'm rendering my 720p footage in ame instead of ae because i want to use the h.264 codec. when i had my i5 4670k it ran at 100% cpu. but now that i have upgraded to an i7 4970k the render times are about the same and my cpu is only running at 50-70%. When i run the ram preview with exactly the same setting as the ame render, it will go up to 100.
Can someone tell me why it doesnt utilize my cpu fully and how to fix this? and if it isnt possible, is there a codec in ae that is similar to h.264 that i can use instead?
Ok, this is my VI for the data aquisition through the 4 serial ports. The block diagram of the IMAQ sofware is password protected and I cannot send it at this time. I hope the problem is in the first one.
Again, thanks.
Alejo.

Safari loads 100% CPU while opening a webpage when working in cooperation with DeviceLock
I have Safari 5.0.5 and DeviceLock 7.1 installed on same computer running Windows XP x86.
When I confugure any network protocol settings in Devicelock (to make its network module active), Safari loads 100% CPU while opening any webpage, for example http://www.apple.com/startpage/
This issue doesn't occurs on other browsers - Internet Explorer, Firefox, so I assume the issue belongs to Safari, not to DeviceLock.It may not be DeviceLock, or Windows. I see (via Activity Monitor) Safari use 100% CPU while loading a new page on my G5 iMac. Then it drops back again. It may be something to do with Safari 5.0.5

Loading www.latimes.com firefox will soon pause while it consumes 100% of the cpu. This periodically goes away but the frequency of 100% loading increases until it barely normalizes.
This behavior persists after loading another web site. This also happens on Linux without Flash installed. Both machines I use are 64 bit, one with Vista and one with OpenSuSE.
I back reved to 3.6 and saw the same behavior. I haven't tried 3.5.
I emailed LA Times support since this behavior is recent, within the last few weeks, but have heard nothing back.Loading www.latimes.com firefox will soon pause while it consumes 100% of the cpu. This periodically goes away but the frequency of 100% loading increases until it barely normalizes.

Cpu usage raise to 100% in socketchannel read
hello guys,
i m developing one socket applicatoin in which multiple client are connected to one server socket channel..
now in my application there is one main thread which runs continuesly and in which i m asking to one particular client for his action....
now when i ask to client then after one another thread which read from the client socketchannel is started and continuously running until client not reply.
this read thread raise my cpu usage to 100%.....
so what to do.????
overview of my code::::
//first thread
void run()
askClient();
//start receive reply thread here
rrt = new RRT();
rrt.start();
//second thread run method
void run()
while(running)
System.out.pritnln("Inside receive thread");
while(Bytesread==socketchannel.read(buf) > 0)
//if get reply stop this thread
running = false;
in this second thread until client not reply cpu usage raise to 100%
I have try for sleep in second thread run method than also it is not able to stop raise in usage..
what should i do ....
plz helpYour designs demands artificial blocking reads, so why not using blocking sockets anyway? After all, you've spawned a new thread just to read that, you might as well save yourself the trouble with selectors.
On the other hands, you might want to do the right thing (TM) and switch to a non-blocking design. I side with ejp on this one, use the documentation and the web. -
My computer got really slow after updating to latest version of Firefox. I checked all processes and I was testing the system. THe CPU usage goes between 2 and 70 percent staying around 25% on average, when I check my e-mail. As soon as I click on Google taskbar (without even typing in anything) the CPU usage jumps to 100% and STAYS at 100 %, and computer extremely slow.

When I open itunes 10.6.1 my CPU usage jumps to 100%. it started doing this about 6 months ago when I updated itunes.
This helped me. You should try it. Now I can run itunes or Safari and my CPU usage is around 22%.
Close your iTunes,
Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
(Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
netsh winsock reset
Hit "ENTER" key
Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

CPU apparent usage of 100% when no applications running.
Quite frequently, and all day so far today, I have indications that the cpu is running at 100% even though no applications are running (it also shows that when they are and they don't seem particularly affected). I have tried putting to sleep for a period with no change, and then re-start, again with no change. I shut-down every night to economise, etc., and that after running Onyx to do a pretty full check and housekeeping under Automation in case anyone thinks that relevant.
If you check All Processes in Activity Monitor and there doesn't appear to be a culprit process, it may be that the SMB daemon is repeatedly launching and crashing, only to launch itself again, over and over. Try turning off Windows File Sharing in the Sharing pane of System Preferences and then turn it back on and see if that resolves the issue.
Hope this helps....

Firefox causes CPU to go to 100% for 30 seconds...
Help!
I have an iMac G5 running 10.4.9 , 2GHz processor and 1.5GB RAM with a USB Lacie external hard drive attached...
I'm running a fresh install of Firefox 2.0.0.4
I've had this computer for about three years and during the past few months I've noticed that whenever I use firefox, when it is loading a page or waiting for a site/transfering data or even somtimes when I'm typing text into a web form, the CPU will go to 100% and stay there for like 20-30 seconds, I'll get the rotating pin-wheel and the browser is just locked up.
It becomes like every operation, every page I switch to has this processor load and performance hit!
I can switch to other apps, but the CPU is pegged!
Safari does not have this problem. I've installed Netscape and it seems to have the problem too.
I have cleared all of the browser caches and logs, cleared the system logs.
I've uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled it from scratch. Nothing has helped.
No other apps other than those two browsers cause this problem.
When I look in the activity monitor at what is happening, it shows firefox using like 75-80% of the cpu and it shows it as: "not responding", then it comes back and is using like 10% of the cpu. It is like it is waiting for somthing to time out and just peggs the processor until that happens.
I sure hope someone has run into this, I feel like I'm crazy, it is making the computer very un-usable for me.
Thanks. -DonovanI have noticed the same thing before on other CRIO systems - no idea what is causing it. I'd vote for the elfs...

When viewing flash video, CPU Usage goes to 100%
When I try to watch a streaming video that uses Flash Player (say nbc.com),
my CPU Usage goes to 100%. It causes the audio to crackle, video to freeze,
and ultimately locks up my whole computer. When I check Task Manager,
the Flash Player usage is through the roof. If I can manage to pause the video,
the Flash Player usage drops down to 5%, and similarly overall CPU usage down to only around
5%, but as soon as I press play . . . It very rapidly within 20 seconds sends CPU usage
to 100%. This happens in either Firefox or IE. This is assuming that I can pause the
video quick enough. If I don't, the whole CPU crashes with usage locked at 100%, and
only a hard reboot (power button) will work.
I am running the most recent versions of Flash Player and Firefox on Windows 7.
More specifically:
Flash Player version: 11.5 r502
Firefox version: 18.0.1
I am running Windows 7 Home-Premium 32-bit.
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo CPU @ 2.10 GHz 2.10GHz
Memory: 4GHz installed (2.87 GHz usable)
I have already followed the steps in the "Windows 7 Flash Player Problems" list.
I.E. deleting Flash Player cache, and disabling Hardware Acceleration
But this has not solved the problem.
Please help!!
Thanks!Hi Chris,
I've recorded the complete DXDIAG report at the bottom.
I tried the HTML5 video, and it plays smoothly with no problems,
total CPU usage always stayed below 10%, and Flash was always at 0%.
I tried the non-HMTL5 video, and it did play fine all the way through,
Flash Player usage seemed to fluctuate between 10-20%, with memory
usage slowly creeping up to 93,000K. Typically on the videos on NBC.com
say, the flash player usage would rapidly go to 150,000K and simultaneously
the flash player CPU usage would skyrocket: 20%, 40%, 70%, . . . taking
the CPU usage to 100% and causing the problems I mentioned. In
fact, YouTube is probably one of the few video sites where I typically
don't have problems. Once the Flash Player would get out of hand, typically
the video would start skipping and the audio crackling, then audiodg.exe
would start using 10% resources which would aggravate the problem.
Hopefully you will notice something from the DirectX Diagnostic Tool.
In the meantime, I will try the Flash 11.6 Beta.
Here is the complete record from DXDIAG:

Putting ActiveX(packager) in CTabCtrl will cause CPU increase up to 100%, and the whole system hangs.(When the test application loses its focus).
Could you tell me why?

Have reinstalled Lion overnight and it seems to be limping along this morning, although the wi-fi is dropping repeatedly.
How I wish I had followed my usual rule and waited until at least OSX 10.7.1 before installing.
How did you "reinstall?" Others are reporting that installing from scratch is working better. If you're going to keep trying with Lion, I'd recommend posting in the Lion forum: https://discussions.apple.com/community/mac_os/mac_os_x_v10.7_lion (wow, I almost said "Windows forum," hmmm ).
I may get in at 7.1, more likely at 7.2, but only if things look like they've changed enough. This appears to me to be on par with the change from 9 to X, and I waited until 10.2.3 with that one. If/when I do change, I'll have an up to the minute SL clone ready to reinstall if needed, and even then, I'll probably put 10.7 on an external HD. -
Saludos,
Erin B.
English: This problem is usually caused by the memory usage of the block diagram. Reducing the number of objects by creating subVIs and using more efficient data structures (i.e. less local variables) eliminated the block diagram slowness after an upgrade from LV 7.1 to 8.x. -
Help !!!!!!!!!! I upgrade my itunes to 10.5, But, my cpu start to reach 100%, and I cant connect to Itunes store! Morever , I did try something that ppl saying delete all program and reinstall again! It dont work to me! It drive me CRAZY!!!! HELP PLEASE HELP!!!!
It took about an hour to upgrade my iphone. You're also left a couple of times with a blank screen on the iphone whilst it does things in the background which is a bit confusing. Suggest you wait - it starts doing things again (like reload your apps and then your photos etc) after you think it's finished. It's finished only when it says it is.....

Console.app hogs CPU while looking at console log
On my PowerBook G4 Console.app hogs the CPU when looking at the console log, but not at other logs. When switching to looking at the console log, this message is displayed:
Console[31127]: Error: failed to register for new message notifications (status code = 1000000)
Of course, the process number 31127 is not always the same. After this message appears, the app uses 60 to 70% of CPU time. Switching to another log, say system.log, CPU usage goes back down to % or less.
Of course the work-around is not to be looking at the console log. I would like to fix whatever is malfunctioning. BTW, an iMac G5, also running Leopard, does not exhibit this quirk.
TIA, Harald P.I have this same issue ... on a Mac Pro 8 core box ... Console.app takes about 80% of a CPU while looking at 'All Messages', and the same console error is in the console:
"failed to register for new message notification"
Anyone have a solution for this? -
CPU utilisation is at 100% on SQL Server
Currently the CPU utilisation is at 100 % on the SQL Server and sql server.exe is utilising 98% in the task manager.Is this because of the query running for long time?

MSI 970a-g43 CPU fan always at 100% when fast boot or MSI Fast Boot is enabled
I turned on fast boot in my motherboard in my BIOS but now whenever I boot into windows the CPU fan is always at 100%. I really like the performance gain from fast boot, however I can't stand the CPU fan always at 100%. The fan normally runs at ~1150rpm when its off but when its on it runs full blast ~2800rpm.
My specs are:
MSI 970a-g43
AMD FX 6300
MSI HD 7870 OC Edition (Flashed with GOP vBios)
2x4 8gb DDR3 g.skillz ramI have it set to 55c smart fan control in the BIOS. With fast-boot off it works perfectly. It seems like its not lowering the fan like it normally does when its on. If I go into the BIOS and reset it it'll work fine the first time, but after that it'll do the 100% fan speed all the time.
