  • I used an American Express card to purchase my Ipad from Apple online. I have an Apple ID. why can't I use Amex as my payment method when signing in to Itunes?

I have an Apple ID, created when I recently purchased an ipad from Apple online. I used my Amex as payment method. Why can I not use my Amex as payment method when signing in to iTunes for the first time?

Yup, I'm a Kiwi, living in sunny Blenheim. Just seems odd that I can use Amex for purchasing in the Apple store but not in the iTunes store. Perhaps the higher charge set by Amex is not  economic for small purchases? Anyway,
I know now what to do now - buy an iTunes gift card and enter the activation code to redeem and sign up. Sorted! Thanks Kappy for taking an interest in my query.

  • I purchased an iTunes gift certificate with my Canadian-based American Express card (I live there) and had it emailed as a gift to someone at a hotel in the U.S.; Now, he cannot seem to use it. Apple online said it is cause it's only usable in Canada! Wha

I bought a gift certificate from iTunes, online, for someone travelling in the U.S. temporarily. He is a Canadian, I am a U.S. citizen, and I bought it using my Canda-based American express account, as I live in Canada.  Now he is told by Apple on the telephone that he cannot use the certificate to buy anything as it was purchased on a computer in Canada.  This seems utterly impossible!  Does Apple have walls between countries?  It seems to me that someone stuck in a hotel, with his iPhone, might want to purchase stuff from iTunes, but now it seems this cannot be done and he will have to return to Canada to use the certificate.  What the heck kind of instant gift service is that!?
Anyone know how to deal with this?  The person travelling is gone another couple of months.  Anyone ever try for a refund from iTunes?

When you tried to contact Support with the card's images how were you trying to do it, on your phone or a browser on your computer ? And have you tried a different browser to see if you get the same error message ?
As well as images of the card they might also want an image of its receipt.
And to contact Support you were using : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ , and clicked on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then iTunes Cards And Codes ?

  • American express website does not allow me to pay my bill online

I am running firefox 3.5.13 on windows XP SP2. The previous release of Firefox worked fine. When I go to the american express web site and try to do the online bill paying routine it fails to work. It will show my account info as expected but when I hit the "Pay Bill" icon the next page that comes up is blank. It has "headers" or banners at the top and bottom from american express but nothing in between. At the bottom left of my display, the text reads "done" indicating the page had loaded apparently. I have disabled all plugins and extensions, cleared cookies and cache. What is wrong with this and how do I fix it? The page works as expected if I use IE but I do not care for IE.

Welcome to the forums.  You're talking to other customers here.  If you want to talk to Verizon you need to use the "contact us" link at the bottom of these pages.
There is an "idea exchange" on these forums, however it's not clear to me how much attention Verizon pays to it.  You might want to post a helpful suggestion there.
    http://forums.verizon.com/t5/Share-Your-Ideas-with-Verizon/idb-p/ideas
Note that online bill pay does not always result in a paper check.  For major payees like Verizon, most bill pay systems use an electronic check.  Not only does this save the payee the cost of processing the check, it eliminates the paper processing and postage costs for the bank.  In short, you're not costing Verizon much, if anything by using bank bill pay.  In fact, you may even be saving them a little money as the fees on credit card transactions are probably higher than the cost of accepting electronic bill pay.
    Have fun.

  • Why can't I authorize paypal for iTunes store with american express

Can not make a payment using paypal after canceling the agreement in paypal by accident. iTunes is not allowing me to create a new agreement with paypal and giving me this error message when I try: You may not use American Express to fund this payment. Please add a different type of card or use a bank account."!!!
There is a balance in the paypal account, and as I understand it the problem is that Apple (iTunes) does not want to create the agreement while the backup to the backup funding method is American Express!!! PLEASE HELP ME PAY YOU.

Sorry, but Paypal is not available as a purchase option in the Netherlands nor, to the best of my knowledge, anywhere other than the US. Why this is, no one here knows or can say.

  • Apple care/ American Express Warranty - Worth it?

My year is almost up as far as the warranty goes, and I purchased this on my american express card which doubles the warranty.
I've only had to call apple once and this was a battery issue, they sent the battery overnight(excellent service)
My question is if something like this occurs again, something small but important(cdrom, battery) - will I have to contact apple or american express?
I am debating on should I get apple care, if it is a huge issue I am sure I could just send it back to amex, but if its something small, does anyone know how this works?

If you don't have Apple Care and your one year is up, you'd contact American Express. They may have you get a repair estimate, and then they'd decide whether to pay for the repair, replace the item, or reimburse you for the original cost. (You would need to have all of your original receipts and not be behind in paying your bill at the time you filed the claim.) More info can be found here:
    https://www124.americanexpress.com/cards/cda/dynamic.jsp?name=BuyersAssuranceCCSGFAQ&type=intFAQ
Now, what happens if you buy Apple Care? (I purchased my MacBook with AmEx and bought Apple Care at the time, so I wondered that myself.)
This is what the Buyer's Assurance Plan says (on page 2):
"If you purchase an additional service contract or extended warranty with a product which is otherwise eligible under the Buyer's Assurance Plan, and the combined coverage provided by both the original manufacturer’s warranty and the purchased service contract does not exceed five years, then the product is eligible for coverage under the Buyer's Assurance Plan. The Buyer's Assurance Plan will extend the warranty time period and mirror coverage of the original manufacturers' warranty up to one additional year after both the original manufacturer’s warranty and the purchased service contract have expired. ... "
Since the Apple warranty is one year and Apple Care adds three years, the Buyer's Assurance would be tacked on when the Apple Care ended. However, it's not really clear from the way that is worded whether or not you'd have to buy the extended warranty at the time you bought the product. That would be a good question to ask American Express.
The Buyer's Assurance Plan also says (page 2):
"If you buy an additional service contract or an extended warranty for a computer, computer component or part that already comes with an original U.S. Manufacturer’s warranty, unless such coverage is provided from and
administered by the original manufacturer, coverage under the Buyer’s Assurance Plan does not apply."
Since Apple Care is provided by Apple, it would seem that this exception would not apply. That would be another question that might be worth asking American Express.
The American Express Buyer's Assurance plan can be found at https://www124.americanexpress.com/cards/benefits/includes/pdf/buyersAssurance20 03.pdf

  • American Express Gift Cards/BestBuy online

This is a strange issue but i hope i can get some help on it.  I would like to purchase a Roomba 880.  According to you website and my check a the local store, this can only be ordered online and ship to my place which isn't a big deal.  The problem i have is i have around 450.00 in American Express Gift Cards and from what i read they have to be manually scanned at the store for the cards to work.  So i guess the to questions i have can i go the the Best Buy store and use my American Express GiftCards to buy Best Buy gift cards and then use them to order the Roomba online or can i go to the store and order the Roomba to be shipped to my place but pay for it at the store using the giftcards.

    Hello RickYohn,
Welcome to the forum. No question is too strange for us. I can imagine it would be a little difficult to determine how you can purchase the Roomba if  American Express gift cards cannot be used online, and I would be happy to help you figure this out.
I recommend visiting your local store where you can purchase Best Buy gift cards to order it online. You can also inquire if they can order it for you to avoid any further hassle. Please let me know if you encounter any problems or have any further questions.
Thank you for posting here on the forum!

  • HT3702 Trying to redeem American express gift card

How do you redeem a American express gift card

You "SHOULD" be able to use the american express gift card like any other credit card.  That said, there may be a problem where the system (itunes store) is unable to verify the card because there is no associated address.  If that is the case, and you want to use the funds in iTunes, buy iTunes gift cards with the card (at a physical store like Walmart or BestBuy), and then redeem them.  If you check around, you can sometimes find iTunes cards that you can purchase where you pay less than the face value (a $50 card for $45, or similar).

  • American Express - why 2 policies?

I have my annual line rental renewal coming up & was hoping to use my American Express card to pay for it, but this option isn't available, why not? I say why not as I recently purchased an item from the BT Shop & they did take AMEX! Come on BT, one policy for all departments please.

BT Shop is a separate company operating part of the of the BT Group and has it own policies

  • American Express Prepaid Gift Card

I dont understand, paypal clearly states that you can use the American Express prepaid gift card. Even in the post where they announced the granted use of them, the card was in the picture. Yet, I can not pay for items with the card through paypal. All I ask is, why?

Maybe iTunes doesn't use Amex? Is there a number on the back of the card to call and verify your balance? You may want to do that first to verify there is money on the card.
If there is, I am not sure if you can do this with a gift card to a gift card, but you might try going to a retailer that sells iTunes gift cards (Walmart, Best Buy, Target, etc.) and use your Amex Gift card to buy an iTunes gift card. Now use the iTunes gift card to purchase iTunes Music Store content.

  • Passbook sync with American Express Card

I'm having a problem getting an American Express pass for Passbook because their system is saying I have too many iOS devices synced up already.  Apparently they limit the number of devices that are allowed to share a pass for one specific AmEx account.  I called their customer service line and I was told that they have cleared my account and that I need to contact Apple to have them clear my iCloud account of any AmEx registrations.
The problem is that there is no way to contact Apple without having a device that still has free support or AppleCare, neither of which is the case for me.  Any ideas on how to get past the requirement of paying for telephone service when it's an iCloud issue that obviously shouldn't have support cease after a certain amount of time?  Thanks!

So, for s***s and giggles, I called up AmEx and asked if I paid back what was discharged if I would be allowed back in. They said if I paid them off and waited the five year mark, I would be considered to be allowed to have a card (Optima product type - OASIS program) given that I had been such a long customer with them prior to filing (they lost around 10K with me but had them for 12 years...).  Not sure I'd pay back 10K just to say I have an AmEx card, but, that is what the credit rep told me today...I wouldn't even pay back the $3k I owed them for that deal. I used the heck out of my JetBlue Amex. I fly back and forth between NYC and FL every few weeks and was flipping the limit on my card a few times/month and racking up points like crazy. I miss the card, but I also now realize I used to pay for a lot of things I shouldn't have under the rationalization that I was earning points. I'm sure my spend was outweighing the points benefits. Now I do surveys for JetBlue points, shop online (for things I need) at partner retailers that earn me points, and make sure I fly enough times each year to hit any bonus I'm close to. Which reminds me, I need to book two more tickets for another 7,000 point bonus

  • Using a gift card other than iTunes (American Express Kids Gift Card)

Can someone help me? I tried to use my American Express Kids Prepaid Gift Card but it said the card wasn't valid.

  • Using an American Express gift card in the itunes store

I received an American Express gift card for Christmas and would like to use it in the itunes music store. I tried to use it like a credit card, but it was denied because of the extra code that's needed. Will I just have to take this card and purchase an itunes gift card? Please help!!!!

I believe u would have to call American Express customer service (number should be on the back of the card) and then get it activated so u can use it online, they then should give u that special code u need, hope that helps!!

  • You stopped taking American Express card payments without telling customers

    Hello.
I had payed my last couple of bills using an American Express card. During December I tried to pay my bill using my Amex card multiple times, but on each occassion the payment failed and the website gave no reason - something equivalent to "we cannot process your payment". It is important to note that at this time you were still listing "American Express" as a form of payment that you accept and therefore I had no reason to believe that there was a problem with my card. Over the space of a few weeks I tried to pay the bill, and eventually called EE to see what was 'going on'. During the phone call I was told that EE no longer accept Amex - and I paid shortly thereafter with an alternative card. Unfortunately however, I did not pay in time to avoid EE reporting a missed payment to the credit reference agencies, which has had a negative effect on my credit score. At the very least, I would like EE to amend the data they have reported to the credit agencies - if you had given me any reason to believe you didn't take Amex this problem would not have occurred in the first place.
Also - I notice that upon calling 150 from my handset, I am told that I can either pay £0.50 to have my call answered as a priority, or hang-on in the non priority queue to have it answered. I chose the latter, and ended up holding for 15 minutes before being told something along the lines of "we cannot connect your call, please re-dial". I seriously hope that this is not the start of a two tier system whereby unless you pay £.50 to have your call answered - you get a useless level of customer service.
    Please look into this.

When you tried to pay originally and the Amex payment was declined why did you not use another card then? The credit marks would seem to be your own fault as in addition to using another card you can pay by online banking, in the bank, set up a direct debit etc... I fail to see how this is EE fault.
Amex charge more to process payments and this could be the reason it is no longer accepted.
You can also contact EE on 07953 966250 from any other phone.
    Thanks,
