American Keyboard work in U.K on G4 OSX 10.4.11???

Hey Guys/Gals,
I have a brand new keyboard which I purchased from a fellow Ebayer here in the U.K. I wrongly assumed that buying from the U.K would give me the 'British English' version. Following delivery I noticed a strange code on the box and on further investigations realised it is the American varsion so have yet to open the box. I have asked the sellar for explanation of the transaction but he has yet to reply!!
Question is can I use the American version or are there compatibility issues such as $$$ signs instead of £££ signs or any other issues??
Thanks

Hi,
Question is can I use the American version or are there compatibility issues such as $$$ signs instead of £££ signs or any other issues??
Could this or this possibly be of interest?

    Restart.
Try this. I know you said "keyboard is not working.

  • Do non-US english keyboards work properly under ios7 on an ipad4?

Does anyone know if non-american english bluetooth keyboards work properly under ios7 on the iPad 4?
I figure that the results will probably be similar to an iPhone 5s running iOS 7 which is one of a couple reasons why I still have ios6 on my iPad (in addition to iOS 6 just looking far better.)
I have iOS 7.1.2 on my iPhone 5s and also tried typing with it in a few other 7.0.x iOS installs, but for the non-apple apps the keyboard keys I press simply put the key for what would be there on the US keyboard except for keys with no US keyboard counterpart. The keys with no US keyboard counterpart (such as the _ (underscore) key) do absolutely nothing at all.
Does anyone know if somehow this is specific to the iPhone 5s or if this is just inherent to ios7?
As I said, the apple apps seem to work fine. I checked messages, notes, reminders, and spotlight those recognize my keyboard.
Evernote also seems to recognize it.
Facebook, twitter, tumblr, and google+ do not recognize the keyboard (and this is an official apple bluetooth keyboard that has worked perfectly fine with my iPhone 4, 4s, and still works with my iPad 4 (all running ios5 or ios6)).
Does anyone know of any setting that was introduced in ios7 that might fix this or is this just apple screwing up the bluetooth keyboard api and not letting other developers know how to get correct keystrokes from a bluetooth keyboard?
I'd love to be able to FaceTime on my iPad again, but if I'm going to have to put up with an os that I find visually unappealing, I'd at least hope that it could get the right keystrokes to apps (or at least make obvious how to do so).

  • How can I change an english/american keyboard to a danish one?

How can I change an english/american keyboard to a danish one on a Macbook Air?

Apple menu / System Preferences / Keyboard / Input sources.
Click + (bottom left) and in the pane that comes up, select Danish on the left, and click Add.
Of course that can only change what the keys actually input, not what is written on the keys. If you wish to change the physical look of the keys as well, get in touch with Apple and ask if they can replace the keyboard.

  • Will Tablet case with combined keyboard work on Lenovo Ideapad A1 07

    Hi All,
Sorry if anyone has asked before but couldn't find specific.
My wife has recently purchased a Lenovo Ideapad A1 07 for its size,  a friend who has a small android tablet also recommended to her, to buy a tablet case with combined keyboard with USB connection from amazon. When received the connection obviously doesn't fit, so I started searching around web for an adapter for it, but I’m seeing conflicting info that the ideapad either does/doesn't support USB data transfer connection point, so before buying an adapter what is correct!.
Can anyone throw some light onto whether Lenovo will update the firmware to be able to use USB at any time or has anyone have a work around. Any help and advice to get this keyboard working would be grateful as the tablet is a great little device for her.
    Gazzataf

If you are patient, go through the reviews of a specific USB keyboard that was suggested as an addition for Lenovo A1 by Amazon: You will see that even though users have tried different cables and adapters, no A1 user has managed to get this working on his tablet.
This issue may be solved by a future upgrade (if any), which will enable the USB OTG feature of the microUSB port of the A1 tablet. Until then, nothing can be done in order to have any USB device identified and working with A1. I really hope that I make a mistake here and that someone will come up with a working soultion for this issue ...

Yes you should be good to go with any connection. The new Mac already has your drivers installed - simple!

  • How the "enter" key in small keyboard works?

I create a string control and try to input a string ended with "enter". I can't use the "enter" key in small keyboard (right part of key board). Only the "enter" key in the main keyboard works. Why?

Another thing that helps to control this is the Tools>>Options setting
for swapping the behavior of the two keys. Also, a Shift modified big
return key acts like the small key in most situations.

  • Only half the keyboard works after sleep

I have a fall 2011 Air running Lion. It has a weird problem: sometimes (maybe 1 out of 10), after waking up from sleeping (closing the case - I haven't tried manually putting it to sleep - only the left hand portion of the keyboard works. At the login screen, all the left hand keystrokes generate their little password dots, and all the right hand keystrokes do nothing. I wondered whether there was some sort of genetic remnant from earlier macs with Num Lock keys or toggles between numbers and letters with the fn key. That's wrong, apparently, as I've tried using shift, option, fn command and a bunch of combinations to no avail. The only thing I've been able to do to recover is power it down ugly and then when I restart, things are normal again.
Remember, this happens at the login screen, so I have no menus to work with.
Anyone seen this and found a solution??? Thanks

    Hi Alex H.
Thanks so much for the advice.  I was near an Apple store yesterday so I stopped in and one of the employees shut down the Music app completely and this resolved the issue.  I could have sworn that I had tried that before, but it's possible I hadn't.
    Thanks again,
    Tom

  • Booting up-no screen-keyboard works

Hi. My first post. My computer has had booting problems for a few days. Battery is fine. Twice, we could hear the ding and the keyboard worked (sound buttons, etc.) but no screen. The start button light does not go on, and the white light on the front blinks. The problem started with a movie disc stuck (since ejected) in the drive. Now, it just starts to boot up with no ding or keyboard response. My husband thinks it's trying to start up on the install disc (which I've not tried). I did try starting it using the apple/option/p/r pressed also; that did not work. I do always shut down when I'm not working for longer periods of time.
Maybe letting it rest a couple of days will have helped.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

Welcome to Apple Discussion, mielcat1. About "...trying to start up on the install disc (which I've not tried)," by all means, do try. Boot from the DVD that came with the computer and then run Disk Utility and see if it finds problems with the MBP's hard drive and if it can repair them. Do this sooner rather than later. The more you play around with it in it's current state, the worse could become any disk corruption that may be going on. Good luck.

  • How to make Bluetooth keyboard work?

Firstly, I have spent over an hour reading this, that and the other. Nothing seems to make it work.
It did work. For a while.
Now it just seems to spontaneously decide to stop accepting input. Or sending keys. Or whatever the issue is.
    0. The batteries are fine, they're at 94%
    1. It's on.
    2. It's connected.
    3. It's "discoverable".
    4. It's a "favourite" device.
    5. The keyboard test app works just fine.
    6. Sometimes the delete key on the keyboard works.
    7. Command-tab on the keyboard always works (so far).
    8. Disconnecting and reconnecting does not resolve.
    9. Reading Apple's support notes on this does not resolve it.
    10. The Bluetooth mouse is just fine... (unlikely it's an interference problem in that case, as you'd think the mouse would struggle too in that case)
    11. It's ****-near brand new. Only on the second lot of batteries.
    12. Cap-lock is not responding (but then most keys aren't). Difference here is that the LED for caps on isn't coming on.
    Conclusions so far:
    1. It can't be off or the sending that's the problem, since command-tab always works, it's clearly on and sending.
    2. I do not consider "reboot the computer" a solution. That's the same as saying "this is completely broken in a way that cannot be resolved properly". I'm just giving repliers a head's up here. (Part of the reason is that what's the point in a robust OS if you have reboot it for silly issues?)
Anyway, the latest reboot hasn't resolved it...
    So... what gives?

    Hmm. No responses, eh?
A temporary not-a-fix seems to be to bail out and save every open program, shutdown the computer, turn the power off, wait for a bit, then bring it all back up again. Not holding my breath for this to provide a long-term solution.
This suggests to me that Apple has a deeper problem is needs to fix, firmware perhaps, perhaps the SMC chip design?, goodness knows what. But I doubt it's just a software muck-up if I'm having to power it right down in order to clear it out.

  • Why doesnt my keyboard work anymore like i cant click it?

why doesn't my keyboard work anymore, I am not able to use the keyboard on certain parts of it, the whole top row of letters or anything wont work

I'm thinking that, it has gone bad.
If it is less than a year old and not abused, then it should be covered under Apple's one year warranty.
If it came with your iMac and you have Apple Care, then it should be covered for three years like your iMac.
To check your coverage, go to > https://selfsolve.apple.com/agreementWarrantyDynamic.do
Optionally any inexpensive generic USB keyboard will work, if you are not impressed with using or replacing yours with another expensive Apple one.

  • T440s Keyboard working intermittently

My T440s Keyboard working intermittently (randomly switching from a functioning keyboard to totally disable state)
OS: Windows 8.1 Pro, 64 bit
    In the disable state
None of the keys work, with the exception of the FnLk
    USB external keyboard works
Both pointing devices (pad & the RED Tip) works.
    Touch keyboard works

UPDATE .. I have updated all drivers & BIO's and still the problem exists.
Is the only solution to send the unit in for warranty repair?
Is anyone experiencing the same problem?
    Any suggestions?

  • How to get Apple keyboard working in Win 7?

How can I get the volume buttons and eject button working on my aluminum Apple keyboard working on my Windows 7 boot camp partition? Oddly enough we have an older white keyboard on my XP computer at work without Apple drivers and both buttons work fine.
    Thanks in advanced.

Good question. This has been a problem since day one. I have windows 7 64 bit. I was never able to install the drivers off the SL disc so I just did it manually. Tonight I downloaded BC 3.1 and ran it and all that happened was the nvidia update. My windows partition is literally running no different than before 3.1 including the magic mouse not working.
