Amex or Chase for travel rewards

I am starting to travel a lot more these days. My fiance hasn't travelled abroad as much as I have so I am trying to take her to as many of the places on our mini bucket list as possible before we settle down and focus on a mortgage etc. My Mom lives in England and I would like to visit her at least once a year also.  My question is, I am already very familiar with the CSP/Freedom combo.But I am wondering if Amex has a similar combo that works just as well? Can you transfer points between cards like the PRG and ED points cards? Is it even worth it anyway? Would the PRG be the only card I would need for reward points? I will be applying for the Amex PRG (replacing my Amex Green) in the next few months and then deciding next year after the intro 12 months which card I want to keep out of the CSP/PRG.Something that really stands out to me is the 3x points on flights with the PRG but I don't really know how 'valuable' these points would be compared to getting 2x points in UR from my CSP. Also the new featured bonus categories like gas, groceries and dining are very attractive to me. I would also be utilizing at least 50% of the $100 travel credit each year too so the higher AF for the PRG card does not bother me; I just don't want to be paying both AF's as then I would be diluting any rewards too much. On the other hand I love Chases website/point redemption system and their 'Shop Through Chase' portal. I can tell this is going to be a hard decision for me so would appreciate some input from people who have experience with these cards etc. Thank you in advance

Research redemptions with both programs.  You're going to have to look into redemptions with the travel partners and what the cash equivalents are for those rewards.  Run the numbers for your spend to compare.  Don't just rely on the earn rates or assumptions on a value per point.  I, for example, cannot redeem for the higher value for MR points so an MR point is not worth much to me.  If you can leverage the transfer partners properly you may be able to get more value per point. TYREX wrote:

You might be able to easily use 100%.  I'd suggest looking at FlyerTalk but you need to select an airline for the travel credit.  FT has a threads for the different airlines.  Definitely check the thread for the airline you would select. While I said that MR points aren't worth as much to me we have been trying out the platinum and easily used 100% of the $200 credit with United. TYREX wrote:

    Future reference: their "recommended offers" mean zilch, zero nada. You can plug in your dog's information and get the same result, as others have done! Anyway, congrats on the card. As far as "travel cards" like this go, it seems BOA defines travel a bit more broadly than the others so at least your points can be used on more transactions (though there is still no real advantage over a QS/DC). But if you book travel through the BOA site I think you do get 3 points per dollar.This is not the 'general' recommended offers, this actually only show when you login into your account. After I PC my cash rewards I started getting this offers, for Travel with 15000, then disappeared, then 20000, now 15000 again. Sometimes the offer is for BBR also.  @OP, is your cash card at 22.9%? My offer say 16.9% after the promo and thats the APR I have on my card right now. Is this your lowest limit? I may try for BBR in a few months, but I want all my cards at 5k or more.

    Sign in to iTunes Store (on desktop itunes) with your ID. Plug your iphone to itunes, right click on it and choose transfer purchases.Right click again and choose backup. Then you can sync with iTunes.

    Your conversations will not deleted if you sync with your iTunes.
    What is the problem with iCloud? iCloud has nothing to do with iTunes syncing.

    Dear Duxton,

    Verizon uses CDMA.
    The rest of the world uses GSM.
    The wifi will work, if you find a hotspot.
    The 3G will not, unless south Korea moves to Europe.

  • MacBook or MacBook Pro for travelling ?

    I want to buy a portable mac to travel in a hot country. Witch one is the most robust and durable, the Mac Book or the MacBook Pro ? I will use it mostly with CS3 and Lightroom for photos. Thanks.

    They are both good for travelling... macbook pro will be a little bit more durable due to the material that it is made out of but also a little heavier then the plastic macbook...
    It depends whats in your budget and preference... me, i choose the macbook pro..

  • How can I enter "Flate rates for travel costs" with more than 2 decimals?

    Hi expert,
    I want to enter flat rates for travel costs in table T706F.
    I have a figure with more than 2 decimals (0,066), but I cannot save it, because only 2 decimals are allowed for EUR.
    I don't want to change the decimals for this currency.
    I found OSS note 446116 which is release independent. It is a note of 30.10.2001.
    It suggests to create a new currency e.g. EUR3 and enter translation ratio's and exchange rates.
    This seems pretty drastic.
    Do you know if there is another way to handle this issue?
    Thank you.
    Kind regards,
    Linda Verding

    Hello Christian,
    I have checked it with consultants from SAP Brussels.
    They confirm that OSS note 446116 can be used to create flat rates for travel costs with more than 2 decimals.
    I will create a new currency (EUR3) with the description "for travel expenses only".
    Kind regards,
    Linda Verding

  • Workflow and POWL integration for Travel Request / Approval

    HI,
    We are on EHP7 and using POWL  for different kind of Approvals.
    POWL is working good for Leave Approval and we have used Workflow Task ID as : TS12300097 / TS12300116, and all leave request appearing in POWL for manager and approving them.
    Now we have to use POWL for Travel Request / Travel Expense approval and need to know what Task IDs I should use to configure this under SPRO.
    Few tabs / links created like Travel Req Approval / Expense Approval / Claim Approval in POWL and need to show entries in respective tabs.
    Thanks

    HI
    Is it required to run FPB_MAINTAIN_PERS_S / FPB_MAINTAIN_PERS_M to display Travel entries in POWL screen.
    2) Is it required to keep entries under "Assign Task IDs to POWL Types" in SPRO ???
    ex : MANAGER_MSS_INBOX    MSS_POWL_LEA_APPROVAL    TS12300097
    I don;t see any difference in terms of functionality even If i delete above entry, may i know the necessity of having those entries ?
    Thanks

  • Edit HTML FORM for Travel Request in BADI

    Hi Experts,
    I'm trying to use the BADI FITP_REQUEST_HTML_FORM_BADIDEF to edit the HTML form for travel request.
    I need to add and hide fields in tables, but I don't need to create new tables in the form.
    The example is like the following:
      CALL METHOD co_dd_document->add_table
        EXPORTING
          no_of_columns = 2
          width         = '350'
          border        = '0'
        IMPORTING
          table         = lo_estc_table.
    set estc columns
      CALL METHOD lo_estc_table->add_column
        EXPORTING
          width  = '150'
        IMPORTING
          column = lo_col1.
      MOVE text-t04 TO lv_text.
      CALL METHOD lo_col1->add_text
        EXPORTING
          text = lv_text.
    We don't need to create new tables, we need to add fields in an existing table of the form.
    Somebody knows how can I do that?
    I hope you can help me.
    Thanks in advance.
    Oscar.

    work around!

  • Overlapping trips (for Travel Request - TP04)

    Hi, Gurus
    Is there any way so that I can create 2 or more travel requests using the same period for the same employee? It would be a desirable requirement here in our company.
    I know that through 'FITVFELD' transaction I can choose, for a given travel schema, if I want to allow overlapping trips (checkbox "Overlapping Trips Allowed"). But it works only for the expense reports ("TRIP" transaction) related to the schema selected. For travel request (TP04) I can't do that.
    An example: with "Overlapping Trips Allowed" checked for schema A, I am able to create 2 or more expense reports (schema A) from 11/09/2010 to 11/16/2010. But if I try to create a new travel request (TP04) within this period, the system throws an error.
    PS: As we know, unfortunately schema "PL" (Travel Planning) doesn't have "Overlapping Trips Allowed" checkbox... It manages some travel request parameters.
    Thank you
    Roberto

    Hi robtaboaco  ,
    you can create two or more overlapping trip.
    it will just give u warning if u have overlap trip. but you can still save it.
    here's the link, hope it helps to explain..
