Amount of songs

Is there a limited amount of songs in a map which i can add to the library?

See http://samsoft.org.uk/iTunes/grouping.asp for tips on making iTunes "see" a collection of tracks as a single "album". If that's not quite what you want then you can always use a playlist to connect things together.

I cannot address the sync services error right now, but the error that you receive when you change from sync to manually manage music is what happens when you change. Once you change to manually manage music, it erases all of the music and will only put the music that you want on the phone, content that you manually drag over to it. How do you select an amount of songs at one time

How do you select an amount of songs at one time because i need to change my Mp3 tags ( the bands name soo its all the same) =]Help?

in order for this to work all the songs you want to change have to be right next to eachother in a list, one after the other.
Select the first song you want to change. (it will be hilighted in blue)
Hold down the shift key
without letting up the shift key click the last song you wish to change. (any songs betwwen these to songs are now blue also)
right click the blue patch of screen and click "get info"
edit the feilds you wish to change, and click ok.

Unequal amount of songs on ipod compared to Mac iTunes

Hi,
I have an old 10g ipod (click wheel) v 1.5
The total number that appears on amount of songs on the ipod does not equal the total amount of songs on iTunes.
I don't believe I have anything activated to possibly skip a song (ie I dont have "update checked songs only" on)
yet it says:
iPod 1003
iTunes 1004
I still have plenty of room on the memory to hold more songs.
Suggestions? Solutions?

From the count, you might think that you have one more song in iTunes. Easy to find it. Erase the iPod and automatically sync with iTunes.
But having "about" the same, doesn't mean that all 1003 iPod songs are in iTunes. So this is what you do:
1. Connect your iPod to itunes.
Select the iTunes Library and select all [command]A
2. Paste the results into a spreadsheet. (Should take 7 columns.) While the whole paste is still selected in the spreadsheet, sort on column A.
3. Select the iPod, do a select all, copy and paste that a column over from the first listing (i.e.select cell 1H), leaving a blank column in the middle. (Should take 6 columns.) While the whole paste is still selected in the spreadsheet, sort on column H. Now both libraries should be matched up, sorted by title.
4. In the column between - column G - put the formula =IF(A1=H1,"OK","Missing"). Copy that formula down the entire column to row 1004.
5. Scan down column G until it starts saying "missing" - there's your missing song.

Max amount of songs that can be written

Hi all
Not that it is a big concern but more a curiosity. Why when there is 700 megs of space on a CD that you can only burn on average 18 songs. If I was to take that same amount of songs and just burn a data file in toast it adds up to about 100 megs. Toast is the same for audio songs..what else is being written or is it just the way the apps are programmed.

Burning on Data CD/DVD will leave the files unaltered. It is the same as copying from one disk to another.
You will not loose audio quality.
The same is true for purchased music.
To play purchased music on another computer, that computer must be authorized of course.

Two Windows scripts to make playlists of Duplicates and Exact Duplicates. Use shift-delete to remove selected tracks from the library as well as the playlist.
There is also my DeDuper script if you don't want to do it by hand. Please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping. See this thread for background.

I have an iPod mini and a nano and I'd like to use them both on the same system. I know the mini holds more songs than my 2gb nano so I was wondering if there was a way to limit the amount of songs that I can put into iTunes so I can have an equal amount of songs on both iPods, up to the 500 limit of the nano or would I just have to create seperate playlists? Thanks.

Making a few Smart playlists can help you solve the problem.
You can limit the number of songs, MB, GB etc. by checking 'limit to'.

Approx amount of songs - does this include album art?

Hi,
I am deciding on the 1GB or 2GB, 1 GB will probably be enough for my type of use, however,
If the approx amount of songs for a 1gb is around 240, based on 4 mins, AAC..etc, Does the approx amount of 240 songs include each song having album art showing, if not, how many songs am I looking at if each song has album art as I may need to get a 2GB if it significantly reduces.

The estimate includes the album artwork.
However, I would still get a larger iPod just to allow for more music. Also, the iPod can be used to store files, store and view photos, etc., all of which you may want to take advantage of and require more space.

Does anyone know how to view the amount of songs you have and how much data it takes up in the new iTunes?

i have downloaded the new itunes on to my computer, but cant find where it says how many songs you have and how much data they will take up on my phone. thanks

Just a comment that the playlist size only shows in List View (not Grid or Artist view).

You would have to have songs with smaller file sizes.
Reduce the quality of the files and you can save some room.

Help with amount of songs

i have a 5th generation iPod that has a memory of 30GB/7500 songs PC + Mac i only have 491 songs on it and it says the memory is all used up and there is no more room for more songs......my friends have the same ipod and have about 6/7 of space left and have more songs than me....i only have songs on my iPod and every song is less than 9 minutes.......does resetting my iPod help it or no? can any1 help me please?!?!

do you have several DVD's on your iPod? Those eat up a ton of space...
Also, look at your music files and see how many KB a piece they are, if any are over 10KB, then you have some huge song files, and as the other guy said, make sure that youproperly imported the files

Bear in mind that Apple quotes the number of songs you are able to store on any iPod by using aac at 128kbps for a 4 minute song.
It's probably because you have the import settings and bitrate set wrong. Look in iTunes under edit/preferences/advanced/importing. What does it say in settings and import using? You need to compress your music using either mp3 or aac. If you see AIFF, WAV or Apple Lossless then those formats are going to take way more space than mp3 or aac, especially the first 2 which are raw uncompressed formats.

Settings/main menu/playlists/on. Photos/on etc, etc.

Adding large amounts of songs

Is it a bad thing to upload over 3000 songs onto a new iPod all at once, or will that likely mess it up? Like, will it overheat and melt a piece of hardware or something?

For a reference point, when I moved to my new machine, I dragged over 10,000 tracks into iTunes at once. It worked fine, after I figured out a couple of minor issues relating to Dual Core processors.

Deleting Large amounts of songs purchased

Is it possible to easily display what account purchased the iTunes song? I have several accounts that have authorized my computer to play music so I have songs from different iTunes accounts. One account in particular is no longer authorized to play, so I would like to delete all the songs purchased with that account. Is there a way to group all of the songs together to delete them quickly?
I do NOT want to go through "Get Info" and then click through all the songs in my iTunes library just to find the ones to delete.
