Ampersand problem in numbers

Serious problems with passing "&" in HyperLink function for example this
=HYPERLINK("https://www.google.com/finance?fct=big&q="&B108,B108)
where B108 is a cell containing "AAPL" text.
will be passed to SAFARI as:
https://www.google.com/finance?fct=big%26q=AAPL
that is & gets replaced by %26 which google DOES NOT understand.
Any suggestion?

It seems to work correctly, for me, when I use the formula hyperlink formula in an iWork document on my computer. It, however, does NOT work correctly from the document you shared in iCloud.

%26 is the ascii code the the "&" character. So this seems like a bug in the iCloud rendetion of Numbers. Perhaps provide feedback to Apple

PDF exportig problems from numbers: offset margins, pages missing

hi,
we are encountering some odd problems in numbers here..
first our problem was, that exporting a pages of a numbers document to a pdf with
document margins lead to an offset of the margins. The whole content was offset
and f.i. the window of an envelope didn't work.
the wrong margins even showed as fine thin lines in the preview of the pdf.
we worked around that problem by exporting the pdf via the printing menu.
NOW - since mavericks - even our workaround seems to be bugged.
It is only possible to print only one page although the document has multiple pages.
Seriously,.. this is very annoying. Since the new mavericks numbers has "NO" working Page preview,
which is essential to writing invoices out of numbers.
What happened? Can anyone help please? I am supposing this has something to do
with the Adobe-PDF engine and the Apple PDF engine.

Yes, stay with Numbers 2 for serious business.
As a matter of interest, I do not know why you can print only one page to PDF in Numbers 3.

File > Print... shows two pages
There is only one Sheet (in the spreadsheet sense) consisting of two pages (of "paper"). 'This Sheet' has the same effect as 'All Sheets'.
Click on Print.
Lower left, click on PDF and choose Open PDF in Preview
Here is Preview (zoomed out) showing two pages.

1 of 2. Have a play with settings such as Auto Rotate and Scale to get what you want.
Numbers 2 will do what you want, but I thought this discussion would help those who are persevering with Numbers 3. (And those who do not have the option to use Numbers 2).

The problem is that iWork apps were coded with feets not with brains.
We just may hope that the next upgrade will be coded a better way.

Problem viewing Numbers spreadsheet via VNC

When I connect to an Intel Mac Mini running 10.5.6 using a VNC client and launch Numbers (2.0.2) on the Mini, a valid spreadsheet opens but it looks blank (no cells visible, no data visible). The program is fully functional and if the arrow keys are used to scroll around the spreadsheet, each cell's data is displayed, one cell at a time, in the entry field (at the top of the spreadsheet).
The spreadsheet display normal, as expected, on a monitor connected to the Mini. The spreadsheet can be printed and saved as PDF. These both show a complete, normal spreadsheet with data in each cell.
This issue occurs when using either Chicken Of The VNC and JollyFastVNC. Changing display resolution nor number of colors fixes the problem. Changing window size in the VNC client (full-screen mode vs. window mode) does not fix the problem.
Other applications running on the Mini show no problems when viewed & controlled from the VNC client.
The VNC client runs on a PowerBook G3/400 running OS X 10.4.11. These computers are connected via a LAN and 10/100 ethernet switch. Personal filesharing is enabled on the Mini; no firewalls are used.
How can I fix the remote viewing problem with Numbers? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Gretchen,
I talked to R&D and they said this is expected behavior. The min/max from the properties from the hypertrend properties reflect what is considered as true and false on the chart.
Is there a reason you cannot set these to 0 and 1?

Oracle SID Problems with numbers

Hi everybody,
I created a new database (ORACLE 10g) with the SID name IC71 and the same global database name. After finishing the configuration and starting the database everything worked fine.
Now I installed the Oracle Client on another server machine. I made an entry in the tnsnames.ora with the Servicename IC71 and it worked. The problem now is, that I have to give the SID instead of the Servicename for installing some software. With the SID IC71 it does not work, after I changed the SID to IC it works.
Can someone explain me this strange settings? Has Oracle problems with numbers in the SID name?

Problem with numbering of general task lists by creation thru LSMW - (IA05)

I'm using a sequencial file to create general task list thru LSMW (Object 0490 which corresponds to TCode IA05).
The numbering range for general task list groups is internal. I executed batch input and it works pretty well with the first general task list group, but every next fails, because the number of the previousy created task list stays in the user buffer and apears in the PLNNR field, so the system assumes I'm trying to create a new group counter instead of new general task list group.
I explicitely set IBIPTLST-PLNNR = '' in field mapping - still the same problem. I also set user parameter PLN to be empty in SU3 and still no luck. I even turned off the historic data in local data tab of SAPGui, but the problem persist.
Can anyone tell me how can I achieve it without changing the numbering range to external?

As a general rule, initial fields in structures are not transported into the corresponding screen field. In other words, fields that are blank are ignored. If you explicitly want to reset a field to the value "<blank>", you must mark the field in the batch input structure with the value !. This is the reset indicator, and means that a field is to be reset to its initial value.
Try setting IBIPTLST-PLNNR to !

SAP ERP 6.0 - Problems displaying numbers in ALV (i.e tx. se16n)

Hi, We've just upgraded our system from version 46C to version 6.0.
As the result of the process we're experiecing a problem when displaying numbers with ALV reports, even with standard transactions.
For example, when running the transaction se16n to display the content of the table CABN table, the value of the ATINN field (NUMC) is replaced by the value of other field ATNAM (CHAR 30).
This situation doesn't happen when consulting data in se16 transaction (here we display the result in se16 standard list).
We also experienced this problem in Z programs showing data in ALV reports..
Any help on this would be appreciated.!!!

Update the import_state.properties where you replace the "-" with "0" for the packages that you want to retry.
Then set the JAVA_HOME environment, and then run the import_monitor.sh.

Line graph problem in numbers

How can I change. the thickness of lines when using the line diagram in numbers. I want to see 3 lines that are relatively close to each other but because they are very thick they overlay each other.

There isn't a way to change the shape. Your options are to change the graph type, or to make the graph larger (should correct the overlap problem).

Have a problem in Numbers with entering data directly into a cell when a table reaches a certain size and special characters are used?

I am creating a list of words with special characters in some of them. I get to a point where I cannot enter data directly into the cell. I have to use the data entry bar at the top in the toolbar. Any solutions available?
This is the table I am creating...
From row 25 on, I am only able to enter data into the cell through the toolbar at the top and not directly into the cell itself. I believe that this problem originates from the special characters I have inserted in the previous records because if I do not use special characters, then the spreadsheet acts flawlessly. Have there been issues in Numbers with data entry, the size of a table, and using special characters?

I would try removing the rows with "special" characters one at a time to see which one is causing the problem

Problem with numbering in TOC

I don't know how I got this in my TOC:
The problem is that I get an extra "1" before the word "Inhoud" and also before "1 Foundation 5" and other chapters.
I don't know how to remove this "1". I understand where the other numbers are coming from.
I thought maybe the style of Foundation is based on another style which has also a numbering. But that was not the case.

This is what I want, and it also what I get when I put the list type to "none".
I don't get it, as I now still have chapter numbering.

[HW Problem] Some numbers and left and right keys are not working

Numbers one, two, three, four, eight, nine, zero, left, down, and right arrow keys constantly stop and start working. This also happens in the BIOS. I have to remove the keyboard, the hdd, and do a reboot to get them working.

Then I wouldn't think it's to do with the Arch, updating does not stop parts of the keyboard working for the bios as it's separate firmware. When you can access the bios after first turning on, your PC has not yet accessed the hard drive to load the drivers for the operating system yet. Also as far as I'm aware Arch (or any other operating system in fact) has never updated the bios firmware.

I am having problems using Numbers package, unable to add specific cells in a column, when I tap "sum" it totals the whole column, rather than the specific cells I want. Would appreciate any help. Thank You Francis

I am having a problem with adding selected numbers in a column. When I select "sum" the whole column is added, not just the selected cells. I would appreciate any help how to rectify? Many thanks. Francis Anthony

I don't know if this is the best way but it's pretty easy.
1.) Select the cell you want the sum in.
2.) Select the sum function
3.) In the line where you see =sum(B2:B8) using your finger tap the B2:B8
4.) Use the backspace key to delete the B2:B8 and it will then show "value"
5.) You can now tap any cell you want in the sum
6.) When finished tap the green check mark button at the end of the sum line.
That pretty much sums it up.

Standby problem - log numbers out of sequence

Hi everyone! I am on 10.2.0.3.
My physical standby stopped applying logs because all of a sudden the logs went out of sequence. See errors below - after seq 7975 & 7976 seq# 7974 showed up again:

HELP! Problem Projecting Numbers Document

Hi
I am trying to project a Numbers document from my iPad onto a projector via the 30pin to VGA adaptor. In the past, this has worked fine, projecting full screen. However on this document it is squeezing it vertically. - I think 16:9. Are there any settings on the iPad I can change? Help - I have less than 30 minutes.

I believe you have to double-tap the cell to type in it on the iOS version, and it will zoom in on the cell and give you the keyboard. And always make sure you are importing the files onto your iPod while connected to Wi-Fi. This will let the iPod download anything necessary to make the Numbers file compatible with iOS. If the keyboard truly doesn't appear, try one of these:
Instead of using iCloud, try just emailing yourself the file. Then open it in your Mail app on the iPod. When finished editing, email it again.
Start all spreadsheets on your iPod, but don't edit them. Then send them to your Mac for editing. If your spreadsheets are started on your iOS device you just might be able to edit them correctly.
Uninstall Numbers on your iPod and reinstall it. This might take away glitches. You can always reinstall directly from the App Store on your iPod without paying again. If you have any spreadsheets you wish to save, send them to your Mac or by email, or use iCloud.
Tell Apple about your problem at http://www.apple.com/feedback/. They will try to fix the bug.
