Amplitude modulation

Hello Im a Portuguese student from Eng. and i have a problem with a circuit design.
I made a Amplitude modulation real circuit with TL072 AMPOP, but the circuit is not working so i simulate in multisim and the problem still the same in the practice.
The problem is that the Carrier wave modulates the amplitude from the modulate, its wrong the was the message function.
Please i need some help with this, if anyone can send me any circuit for i compare whit mine
I wiil post my circuit later. Sorry

  • Help with amplitude modulation

    Dear Labview users,
Im having some trouble with this Amplitude Modulation. What I want is to change the Amplitude of a sine wave using a rectangular pulse as following (see figure):
The A.M. sinewave will be the input for my Daq device. I figured this is a strange modulation since i haven't found any info about this type of modulation (most only refer to sine-by-sine modulation).
Any help on this problem would be greatly appreciated
    Regards, Dennis
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Dear Mike,
Thank you for your reply! My problem is indeed that i dont know how to do the modulation =/
My drawing might be misleading. The carrier (which is the sinewave) is in fact between the rectangular pulse (AM-modulated by it) i haven't drawn that one because there is no sine function in paint
Some additional information regarding the frequencys:
    - The sinewave is a typical mains signal with 50 Hz.
    - The squarewave's amplitude will be increasing, starting from 0.008 Hz till 40 Hz.
So yes you are indeed right about the carrier frequency being higher..
Still, any help will be greatly appreciated

  • How to create a on/off modulation in AWR VSS?

    Hi all!!!
This is my first post and want to know if anyone knows how to make a source amplitude modulation on / off in VSS, the purpose is to create a sequence of RF pulses at a frequency of 1090MHz and PRF of 250Hz for simulate a Secondary RADAR system, or any example related subject.
    Thanks!!!

There is an example that comes with the AWRDE named Pulse_Doppler_Radar_System.emp.  It includes a chirp FM source that can be configured using the appropriate PRF and duty cycle.  The same system may be used for secondary Radar as well.
To access the example, click File, Open Example, then either scroll down or start typing the example name to filter results.

  • Picture-in-picture capable tv with FIOS

Hi, I'm hoping I can get some tips/pointers on how to set this up. I have a TV that has "picture-in-picture" capability - you can watch one channel whilst have a little corner of the TV showing another channel. Does anyone have any idea how I set this up? Do I need to have 2 signals coming into the TV? Thanks in advance for any and all info. Please feel free to email me directly - bcmchong at hotmail.
    Thanks much.

QAM is a modulation scheme that is used by cable companies for digital TV broadcast - Quadrature Amplitude Modulation.  Analog cable systems and older TVs use NTSC (in the US) - this is the modulation scheme that was used in boadcast TV until June 12th of this year when the US went all digital using a modulation commonly referred to as ATSC.  Unless your TV is newer it will not have a QAM or ATSC tuner - try looking in the manual under specifications and see what it lists for tuning.  If it only says something like "120 channel cable ready" then it doesn't have a QAM tuner.

  • How do you analyze a carrier frequency.

I usign the "Formula Waveform.vi" shipped with Labview 6i. The formula is a*cos(2*3.14*30000*t)*cos(2*3.14*1000*t). It basically ends up being a 30 khz waveform in a 1 khz envelope. When I use the Power Spectum.vi I only "see" the 30 Khz waveform. How can I view the 1 KHz envelope.

The spectrum of an amplitude modulated signal as you describe will be made of two peaks located at frequencies :
(carrier freq + message freq) and (carrier freq - message freq)
So, we should observe a peak at 29 kHz and a peak at 31 kHz when using the formula and values you mention.(Pls see attached VI)
If you are using a sine wave signal as a modulating signal, you may try to use the "Extract single tone.vi" in order to get the frequency of this signal - That's what is described in the attached VI.
You also need to make sure you are using appropriate sampling frequencies (>60kS/s) in order to respect the Nyquist criterion.
    I hope this will help.

  • Digital Out Sample Clock Sources

    Hey guys,
I am putting together an application <attached>.
Currently I have the ai/sampleclock wired to its timing VI.  When I run this with highlighting on, it just goes to the read for the digital in task and waits there like it has not yet acquired enough samples.  Am I right in thinking that this should result in an array of integers 2000 elements long with 1's where the line is high and 0's where the line is low?
When I swapped the clock source to being di/sampleclock I get something about my device not supporting it.
This is my first adventure into digital in, anybody have a quick hint?
    Thanks,
    ~milq

First - how are you doing a difference of 2 quad encoders?  Are you taking the A channel from each of 2 different encoders running at the same nominal pulse rate?  I'm away from my LV PC and can't go back and look now.  I've done that kind of thing before, where you configure for up/down counting and you get a measure of relative lead and lag.
Second - all the stuff I did was at home while procrastinating and is fully untested.  Don't trust it to do what I said it should without testing.
Third - does it make sense to save data continuously like I tried to do for you?  I've developed a rule of thumb that says, "when in doubt, store to file and defer the decision-making."  The reason I goofed with the # of samples acquired & displayed was that I pictured you updating a graph representing <something> through exactly 1 engine cycle.  Seemed like updating it a couple times a second would be enough.
Since this is your thread and you asked, here's the scoop on Audacity:  I actually grunted through that stuff several months back.  I probably did use the envelope tool, but I think I ended up applying it piecewise in several little pieces through the fade region.  I couldn't make the envelope curves apply just the right shape to keep the volume constant across the fade.
It was interesting in a weird way.  I'd have thought going in that nothing could be easier to mix imperceptibly than noise.  It turned out that the clicks you get with no fade and the volume artifacts coming from linear fade make noise especially *difficult* to mix.
At some stage I think I mixed in some pure noise and then applied some filtering to cut out high freq hiss.  I also added some low freq amplitude modulation and some low freq Left<-->Right panning.  In the order of <0.1 Hz, with the two effects at frequencies without common multiples.  Overall the effect isn't very noticeable (especially the panning on a boombox), but I think the slight variation works better than 100% solid repetition.  Anyway, they were effects sitting there in Audacity and I figured they'd be fun to goof with.
Finally, a couple months after the first cd I found an old "Nature Sounds" tape of crashing waves on a beach.  So I mixed that in with the original cd to make a version 2.  The nightly scoreboard is now Fans - 2, Boomboxes - 2.  I'm getting there...

  • How to check a quality of a picture

Hello. Im a starter graphic in small company. I decide to try adoboe software to make my projects. My task;s is to make pdf files from illustrator and send them to printer company to make copys. And i have a problem because printer company dont want to print my files coz they said " you have too small quality of pictures in your pdf, we need 300 dpi or more to print this in good quality". Im using illustrator to change photos or adding some text to background then i make .pdf file in illustrator.
And my question is how check quality of pasted picture (example i go to file>new>ok>ctrl+v some picture from memory and how to check what dpi have this picture)
In save menu to pdf i have printer quality check
    Thanks for answare. CHeers

    szeli,
Soo if iths PPI and in print company they wana miniumu 300 dpi how many ppi this will be ?
Many use the terms PPI and DPI indiscriminately, but wrongly. DPI expresses how closely dots are placed in print, whereas PPI expresses digital image resolution. If one pixel is used to produce one dot, the values correspond to each other, but the relation depends on the process.
To muddle things a bit, with traditional (amplitude modulation) halftone screening, the key concept is LPI (lines per inch) rather than DPI.
The general rule is PPI = 1 - 2 times LPI, 1.5 times LPI often being suitable or even best for traditional screening; the pleasant increased woolliness of stochastic screening (frequency modulation) may give you better images or allow lower resolution. The LPI may be 150, 100, or lower, or higher.
To muddle things a bit more, if the images are line art, the required PPI may be much higher than 300, maybe 1200 or more to create what is (at least sometimes) called SPI (spots per inch).

  • Computer CONSTANTLY restarts while editing with premiere and after effects

Whenever i edit in premiere or after effects, my computer will always just randomly restart.  It normally does it more in after effects than premiere, but lately, it has been doing it a lot in premiere, sometimes as much as every 15 minutes.    Here are my specs:
    Windows 7 64 Bit
    i7 Processor
    12GB Ram
    4tb Raid system
    NVIDA GEFORCE video card
    800 watt power supply
    3ghz speed
Does anyone know what the problem could be? I have been told that it could be the video card before, but I highly doubt that my video card is not sufficient enough for basic video editing on premiere, as I know many people who have worse video cards that edit with no problem.  Please help!

  • Timeline won't play video but scrubs fine CS4

I don't know what I did, but the timeline won't play the video now in CS4, only the audio.  It scrubs ok.
I cleaned the cache. I tried the loop button, opening another saved project, and starting a new one.
Priemiere Elements works ok.  I'm not sure what I did, nor what else to try to resolve this..
Anyone familiar with this and know the solution?

  • IVI FGEN problems with HP 33120A

    Hi,
I'm trying to control a HP 33120A using IVI through CVI. The basics work
well, but when I try to do arbitrary waveforms of amplitude modulation if
    get errors.
I have include the code snipets with error handling removed for brevity.
Unfortunately I can not find a sample with either of these two cases, and
the error codes do not shed any lights. I have looked at the IVI.h file and
documentation to try and get more insight but I'm hitting a brick wall.
I would appreciate any examples/solution even partial.
    Cheers
    Peter

    Hi,
I guess the two instruments have a similar command set. I am also guessing that you are using the standard VISA type instrument driver for the 33120A and not the IVI.
You will have to switch of the Query because the query string returned will have 33120A related text. This should get you passed the Initialisation.
Have you not tried Agilent web site for a HP1441A driver?

    Hi Christian,
For clarity, by "DSP" I meant "digital signal processing" which is the ultimate goal of this code. It has no other relevance to the discussion.
It's possible that my question is more of a general-Eclipse-tool problem. I understand most of how these tools can work and I am trying to describe and/or design the process by which it all magically comes together to minimize hand work.
    For example:
    1) Xtext can parse and translate an assembler language file (the path of which was an attribute in my Ecore model) to a Java representation.
    2) "Something" can analyze the resulting code for input, output, and control "hooks" and generate supporting Java code to handle those.
    3) "Something" can analyze the need for GUI (Swing) controls specified in my Ecore model, which would adjust certain variables generated in step 1, and generate the supporting Java code to handle that.
    4) "Something" can take the result of steps 2 and 3 and create a new class in my Java project.
    5) "Something" can see that there is a new class in my project and add it to the application's menu. The characteristics of this new class are that it extends a specific class in my application and it could also have specific info in the Ecore model which told the "something" which menu heading it belongs under.
Up to now, all of those "somethings" is me, doing it by hand. However it is a predictable, programmable set of steps and so I'm trying to figure out how to get Eclipse to do those things for me.
    Thanks,
    Gary

  • Constantly getting green screen, help - flash

As I am watching some videos online, I get green screen and the audio scratches. The video than quickly jumps to the end. It happens to me everywhere else youtube. Sometimes it lets me to watch a video for 20 minutes without interuptingi it and sometimes its like 5 seconds, I have to refresh the page after I get that green screen. Sometimes the collor is not green, its just a whole mess of mixed gerey color (white and dark spots randomly everywhere in the window)
I am using mainly chrome/mozila I have installed opera too, just to be sure.
    i7- 4790K / GTX 770 2GB / 1080P monitor / 16 GB RAM  / 2x SSD RAID 0 / dual monitors- 1080Px2
I do not know what to do, I tried using all those browsers, reinstall flash several times and nothink has helped. Disabled the hardware acceleration, increased the memmory flash can store on my computer.

  • Can anyone help me with this- recording at audio signal in the upper frequency region of the audio s

Using Audition, how would I go about recording an audio signal (voice) at
14,500Hz? I know this would be outside the frequency range for the human ear to hear, but that is the point of my question. Any help would be very much appreciated
    Thanks!!!!

You are thinking about it absolutely the wrong way if you think you can "convert" a voice file to be only 14.5kHz. You need to think of a control frequency (14.5kHz) being modulated by the voice line you record. You can't just change the pitch of the voice file or use the FFT filter to eliminate everything under 14.5kHz. It won't work that way.
Try it yourself. Record a voice line. Use Pitch Shifter or pitch strech to change the pitch on the voice. Crank it up all the way to highest possible pitch. Listen to it. Painful isn't it? Could you understand anything? Thought not. Then go to the FFT filter. Reset so it's flat. Add a break point (click on the line) at 14.5kHz. Then click and drag the line below 14.5kHz and bring it to zero. Listen to it. You get the occasional movment if you watch the Frequency Analysis window, but certainly nothing audible to my burned out ears.
The direction I would look at is using the Vocoder effect in MT. insert your voice line into the MT window. In EV, create a new file using Generate Tones at 14.5kHz of the length you need. Insert the tone file into MT ABOVE the voice file. Select and highlight them both. Still in MT, go to Effects>Vocoder. Make your Control Wave the voice file and your Process Wave the tone file. Hit OK. A new file (that looks blank) will be created. Play it in EV with the Frequency Analysis window open and you will see activity at 14.5kHz. This is amplitude modulation (AM). Will it result in anything subliminal? I doubt it, but it would depend on how much you belive subliminal messaging works.
Didn't an earlier version of Audition have some subliminal effect? Could it have been as far back as CEP 1.2?

  • How to do fade from one db level to another?

I have been using Audition for years, and I cannot figure out how to do something in Audition CS 5.5 that ought to be simple.  In my waveform editor, I want to be able to select an area of audio and adjust it's gain over time.  For example, fade the level from 0 db to 15 db.  In Audition 1.5 and 3.0, this was simple.  Select your audio range, choose the "amplify/fade" effect, click on the "fade" tab and enter your db values.  But I am going BONKERS trying to figure out how to do this in Audition CS 5.5!  Can anyone help me?  The amplify effect does not do fades.  And the Volume Envelope effect only does full fade out and fade in.

No, the Volume Envelope effect in the Waveform Edit view can do anything you want. When you open the effect a yellow line appears on the selected bit of audio, usually just a straight line at the top of the waveform. You can then click on the yellow line to place keyframes wherever you want and drag them up and down to the level that you want.
OK not so simple as the previous versions but much more versatile. You can draw any curve you want or even do amplitude modulation as with the 'Tremors' preset.
You are lucky that I still just happened to have CS 5.5 loaded on my laptop so that I could check for you. Since it is only Win 7 32bit capable, I can't have anything newer than Audition CS 6 installed.

  • Waveform graphs

In one application I need to display & measure peak to peak amplitude of a sinusoidal waveform. Due to some unwanted spikes present in one or odd cycles the measured values are wrong as it is measuring the peak of unwanted spikes. I dont know the source of these unwanted spikes. I could know about it only from the waveform displayed.
How do i ignore these spikes?
The waveform is actually measured by NI Express scope VI. Do I need to configure it? how?

    Hi Paul!
In my application I am using a LVDT demodulator followed by a filter. to test the frequency response of the filter i need to feed amplitude modulated input with varying frequency of the modulating signal. the filter is a 1st order low pass filter with a cut off freq of 19.4hz. so i need to check the filter's response over a range of 1.94 Hz to 194 Hz. I am measuring the demodulated ac output of the board using NI scope VI available in LV 8.0. This is the signal where I was getting unwanted spikes. I tried capturing this signal in another CRO and observed that spikes' freq is around 50 Hz to 200 Hz (over a range of 1.94Hz to 194 Hz).
Usage of a filter, as suggested, in LV to filter out these spikes may suppress my filter's actual output itself.
Best would have been to kill this noise at the hardware level itself but unfortunately the hardware is frozen and I cant touch the hardware. Thats why I was looking for some solution in the " techniques to extract"  the true signal. Any other suggestion?
I tried using tone measurement instead of amplitude/level measurement. It helped to a good extent but is there any better alternative?
    Thanks
    Rutz
