how can this be fixed??

  • BridgeTalk.bringToFront ("aftereffects");  - No longer works?

    I tried posting this question in the after effects scripting forum and got no response.  Hopefully someone here knows about this.
    I have been putsing around with a script since CS6.  Suddenly with the most recent updates to CC, BridgeTalk.bringToFront ("aftereffects"); isn't working on my pc.
    I have tested this on a mac and it seems to work fine however when I try on my windows 7 system, nothing.  I searched through the Javascript CC ref but I am getting no where.
    Here is what I have been trying.  I open a new javascript set it to run the Extend Script Toolkit CC, pull photoshop in front of after effects.
    I run this:
    BridgeTalk.bringToFront ("aftereffects");
    nothing
    However, if I put after effects or any other programs in front of photoshop and run this:
    BridgeTalk.bringToFront ("photoshop");
    Photoshop pops right up.
    Is anyone else having this same problem?  Does anyone know anything about it?  Can anyone offer advice for a work around?
    I would appreciate it if someone would try this on their windows system as all my adobe friends work on mac.

    Versions of Photoshop and After Effects that old (PPC code only) have to be the original CS or older.
    The cheapest fix is to revert to Snow Leopard. If you need/want to remain in Lion, then upgrade to CS 5.5. All of its apps have been updated to work as expected in Lion.
    Since there is no upgrade path from CS to CS 5.5 (you'd have to pay full price), then, if you can, you may as well wait until CS6 is released. Going by Adobe's typical upgrade cycle of 12 - 18 months, the earliest possible release will be sometime this fall.
    One page on Adobe's site notes that the oldest software that qualifies for an upgrade to CS 6 will be CS 3. Upgrade prices have been ranked by age the past few years. People upgrading from CS 3 will pay more for CS 6 than someone upgrading from CS 5.

  • How do I download the AfterEffects 6 trial that I want to use on a computer that is not connected to the net?

    I am using a Mac for video editing but due to company rules it can not go on the net with that computer. I have AfterEffects 5 but I need AfterEffects 6 for a project. I wanted to download the trial from Adobe.com but it wants to install on the designated "internet" computer which is of course a Win based computer and not the one that is set up for video editing.
    So how/from where can I get the full AE6 trial downloaded onto my Win based computer and then transfer it to my Mac, then of course activate it on the Mac for the 30 day trial period without having to put that computer on-line?

    I am sorry Juditka but I do not know of any downloads for After Effects 6.0.

  • AfterEffects CC crashes on Startup

    Yesterday AE was working mostly fine; every hour or so it would crash. I'd start it up and it would work for another hour. This morning it was working fine for 5 minutes; I imported a .mov file and added it to the timeline and crash. Now it opens the project and immediately crashes. I cannot remove the QT movie because it crashes before I can do anything. I tried moving the file to the trash but that didn't work. Tried closing other programs. Tried trashing preferences. no effect. When it crashes I get "Adobe AfterEffects CC (12.2) quit unexpectedly. And then the error log. Please help!

    Error log below. I am running 12.2.1.5, and starting a new project works fine. doesn't crash with solids or footage. The .mov codec is animation, but I was able to pull it into another AE project and it doesn't crash. So it seems there is something aobut this project - how do I recover it?

  • Photoshop & AfterEffects CC (2014) Refuse to Update

    Hi all,
    I'm encountering a strange issue with my account...a few days ago an update appeared in CC for Photoshop and AfterEffects. When I attempted to update as usual from the Creative Cloud app, the updates both failed, citing an error code U43M1D204 ("the download appears corrupted").
    At this point I started following existing community suggestions and did the following:
    Deleted the contents of ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/AAMUpdater/1.0, restarted CC, restarted computer, etc.—no difference
    Uninstalled Photoshop and AfterEffects, then re-installed. They both gave a message stating that installation had completed but that a patch had failed, and thereafter I was getting the same update prompts which failed with the same error code
    Attempted to run updates from within each app manually (Help > Updates...), both of which failed with the same error code
    The last step at least revealed that the problem is Camera Raw 8, which has an update to Camera Raw 9.0. Knowing that, I tried to manually install the latest version of Camera Raw (both 8 and 9) but even after doing so and rebooting, Creative Cloud and Photoshop/AfterEffects still claim they need updating, and of course those updates still fail.
    To make things even more interesting, the same issue is present on my second licensed machine as well, not just this one. Both are Macs, running Yosemite (10.10.3). One is an iMac and one is a Mac Pro 3,1.
    Is anyone else encountering this? Is there some other place that the update data is being downloaded that I can delete to force it to try downloading again? Is there another solution? Would appreciate any assistance.

  • Help, my Bridge does not works well with my AfterEffect. does not preview .ffx files

    Hi,
         I have some problem with my Bridge. When i browse preset from my After Effect in Bridge, it won't preview all of the After Effect preset(*.ffx), but my Bridge works well with photoshop files, it will preview all the photo files inculding .PSD. Does anyone knows what's the problem? Anyone knows how to fix it? I need help to fix this problem to get my work in AfterEffect, it is very hard to get things work it won't preview the preset. Thanks.

  • Exporting from Final Cut Pro - Quality of AfterEffects Text Graphics

    I am once again struggling with Final Cut Pro exports in terms of the look and quality of AfterEffects graphics.
    I have AfterEffects MOV files that look fine as is (both as Animation and as Apple Pro Res) and they look fine on the timeline in FCP 7.   When I export though from FCP (in multiple ways - H.246, AppleProRes, 1080/720, etc.), the graphics within the exported video are breaking up and look pixellated.   Any advice?   Thank you!!  - [email protected]

    This is very hard to tell because, first, we don't know anything at all about your export settings, frame rate, frame size or even how you are judging the quality, and second, this is not a Final Cut Pro forum. There are a bunch of FCP users that use AE but if everything looks great coming out of AE as a rendered DI (digital intermediate) and your are using the DI in FCP then the problem is in Final Cut.
    Maybe a better explanation of the process in FCP and some screenshots or examples of the rendered from FCP vs the rendered from AE would help us figure out what is going on.

  • Advice on upgrading to SSD for Mac Pro (optimized for AfterEffects & Photoshop)

    Hello,
    I'm an animator (I use AfterEffects CS5, but will be upgrading to CC soon) and I'm going to start work on a new AE project in a few months for an animated film that will be very demanding (lots of different shots -- meaning multiple projects, all of which will also incorporate large HD stock footage elements as well as multiple layers of art created in Photoshop).
    So I'm looking to upgrade my current desktop Mac Pro (a 2010 2x2.66GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon) with SSD drives (and possibly a new graphics card) in order to speed up my system and optimize it for both AfterEffects and Photoshop. (In the past I've created projects using external 7200 RPM hard drives connected via eSATA). I've also decided, for now, not to purchase the new Mac Pro, but rather try and make a smaller investment to speed up my current system.
    I'd love any advice that pro users would have that have made similiar upgrades, both in terms of the best equipment (SSD drives and graphics card) and the best way to set up AfterEffects/Photoshop projects using these SSDs.
    For example:
    1. Should I be purchasing 1 or 2 SSDs, and how should I be using these drives to optimize my system for AfterEffects and Photoshop?
    2. Should I install my operating system (I'm on OS 10.8.5 but plan to upgrade to Mavericks when I upgrade to CC) on one separate SSD, and then install my Adobe applications on a 2nd SSD, or can I put both the operating system and applications on a single SSD? And should I be saving my projects on a SSD (if so, which one, if I'm supposed to purchase 2?
    3. Should I assign a 2nd SSD as a scratch disk for AfterEffects or Photoshop?
    4. I plan on using my current external hard drives (a 12 TB RAID array connected via eSATA) to store the footage and Photoshop elements being used in my AE projects (these files will be multiple GBs, and I can't afford to purchase SSD drives to hold these elements on) and also to store the renders from AfterEffects (which will also be very large files). Is this OK, or will this slow me down and negate whatever speed I've gained from moving to SSDs?
    5. In researching how to switch over to SSD, I've considered purchasing 1 or 2 SSD drives. The one I'm currently looking at is called the Murcury Accelsior_E2, a PCI Express SSD sold via OWC. It comes in a few different sizes (120 GBs, 240 GBs, 480 GBs, 960 GBs). Just wondering if this is a good purchase -- the reviews seem to be very positive:

    Thanks so much for jumping back into the discussion, The hatter! I had some earlier questions from before that I was hoping you could answer:
    Currently I own a 12 TB OWC Mercury Elite Pro RAID drive array (connected via eSATA) which I use to save projects, project files, and renders. So (unless I am mistaken) you're recommending that I continue to use this RAID array to save projects, project files, and renders.
    (I was looking into purchasing a Mercury Accelsior_E2 for my SSD via PCI -- it has eSATA, so I can continue to connect my RAID array)
    Then I would use my new SSD via SATA II for my system, apps, and OS (minus home folder media files, data, documents) and my SSD via PCI for scratch disks for Photoshop/AfterEffects.
    Currently I have 2 x 2 TB internal hard drives, which have all my OS + home folder media files.
    Can I get more details in terms of the step-by-step instructions when it's time to install/clone? Here's how it looks to me (apologies if I have this out-of-order, and feel free to correct me if I've missed a step or have it wrong -- thank you in advance!):
    1. Purchase SSDs (via PCI and internal SATA II) and install them inside my Mac Pro.
    (Is there any formatting I need to do at this point to the SSDs once they are all plugged in...?)
    2. Install TRIM Enabler
    (Once it's installed, what do I do with TRIM Enabler? Is it an app that runs 24/7 in the background, or is it an app that I need to launch on a regular basis and perform commands on the SSDs...? Very confused on what TRIM Enabler does.)
    3. Use CCC to clone system from old internal hard drive to new internal SSD drive. When using CCC, deselect media folders in home account before cloning (so I am NOT cloning media folders from old hard drive to new SSD drive).
    (What specific media folders should I be deselecting? I'd like to keep my music, movies, iPhoto/Lightroom files, and email archive where they are now -- on the 2 x 2TB internal drives that shipped with my Mac Pro. Is there a link that provides more info on this process? Never used CCC before but I assume it's not too hard to use...?)
    4. CCC clones system gets 'cloned' (minus the media folders) to the SSD that is installed via SATA II in empty internal drive bay inside Mac Pro.
    5. Repair the SSD with DU after cloning and before using and booting from SSD.
    (What is DU? How does it work? Not familiar with DU...?)
    6. Reboot computer from system running on SSD.
    7. Open Photoshop/AfterEffects (now running from SSD) and assign new scratch disk (the SSDs on PCIe SSD controller).
    8. After 100% sure that system + apps that have been cloned is working via SSD, delete ONLY system and apps from old hard drive (but do not delete media files).
    (Now that my system is on a separate SSD drive, when I do things like purchase new music from iTunes, will it get downloaded to the old location (my old hard drive with all my media)? In other words, are there steps I have to perform in order to relink my media folders now that they're on a separate drive?

  • Fonts Not appearing in Aftereffects

    I am having a new issue that just started. Aftereffects is not seeing some fonts that are on the machine. They are regular fonts and not free ones I found online. They are in the fonts folder but have just stopped showing up.

    The thing is these are fonts that have been on my machine for a while. They just randomly stopped working. That's what was weird about it.
    Honestly, i think it's time for a reinstall. Aftereffects is doing so many ridiculous things for me I don't even know where to start.
    My current project I can't get to render. It just crashes on every render for different reasons everytime. Sometimes i don't even get a reason it just drops to the desktop in the middle of a render.
    When i get the errors I have gotten both Keylight Errors and some random PDF issue error.
    All of this has been going on for a few days so I figured I would try and update my drivers for my graphics card, Radeon x1900, and updated Windows Media and I am still having the same problems.
    I tried trashing the preferences and that has slowed down the random crashes, there are still some, but it has still not let me render.
    And I don't even have the new quicktime installed.
    Re-install time it is.
    I am frustrated as heck. This project is not even that intense laeyrs wise. there are a number of keys but this is driving me insane. I have never had this many problems.

    Provide a screenshot. It is in no way clear what you mean, even more so since you have not provided any system and version info. If at all I would suspect mundane file permissions/ user privileges issues.

    Hi,
    My colleuges Adobe CS4 Aftereffects is crashing at random intervals while using the program.
    I need to end multiple instances of aftereffect.exe and also the cs4 application before I can reload the program and carry on working with it.
    Any suggestions?

    Can't help you on the engine thingy but "random crashing" is not usually caused by After Effects. In my experience, nothing in AE is ever random, including crashes; everyting has a root cause. Far more likely to be caused by the source media in the project, access issues to that source media, or OS problems.

  • Adding menu items and making system calls in AfterEffects (AE,CS3)

    We are looking to do the following things via javascript in AfterEffects CS3. It does seem straight-forward, but am unable to find a good reference or example.
    * Add at startup a menu item under "File" (or similar main menu) and have it call a script function when clicked.
    * Have a script make an external system call (to launch an external application/executable with a few parameters)
    Any insights on how to achieve this?

    I wanted to see if there was any update on this, I'm writing a series of tools and would love to create a custom menu for quick and easy access.
    If it turns out there isn't an "easy" way to do this (env variables, special directory locations, javascripts) would anyone know if access to the menubar is possible from the Plugin API?
    I'm fairly new to After Effects, just getting up-to-speed on the environment now... seeing if I can duplicate the functionality of some old Nuke scripts in AE.
