An account I didn't set up?!

Major security issue - help?!
I was hoping that I could message Skype directly, but I can't find an address to do so anywhere. Am I being silly?
I have received an email from Skype about an account I have not set up, to an email address that I have never, ever even mentioned to Skype. It says: "You don't seem to have used any of your Skype Credit in a while. It becomes inactive if you haven't used it in 180 days. But don't worry - once it becomes inactive, you can reactivate it whenever you're ready to use it. Simply sign into your account online and follow the option to Reactivate credit."
The email address in question is my university address, which I just wouldn't use to set up a skype account - if nothing else, because it's an address that is only temporary. The email gives me an account name that I would never have chosen in a million years - and have, actually, in the past year, legally changed!
The email also says I have a balance of "EURO 0.7". Well, I am living in the UK, and thus am not using euros...
This wouldn't be so bad, but I have also received an email today, to a different email account, of confirmation for plane tickets from American Airlines to Austin, Texas. I have booked no such things.
I have already done a virus scan and found nothing. I suppose what I am really asking is...has this happened to anyone else? Who do I need to contact to investigate this?

Be careful. I just got off chat with Skype about $155 of unauthorized charges to my account for calls to the Phillipines and they told me they're not responsible for unauthorized use of my account. If they aren't then who IS responsible for the security of this product?

I didn't set up my outlook e-mail account on my ipad mail app; how did it know/input my e-mail account?
I went to my mail app today, with the intention of setting it up with my e-mail account for the first time.  All of the e-mail associated with my outlook account was already there.  There does not appear to be a sign in or out for the app and I never set it up.  No one that uses my Ipad set it up.  My Itunes account, etc. is associated with that e-mail, but how did the information get synced there?

Follow up:  Is it somehow associated with my wireless network at home?  Am I only able to access the e-mail account on my mail app while I am sharing the server that my outlook account is associated with?

You are not addressing Apple here. We are all just users like yourself

No app on the iOS device is required.
    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod/iPhone/iPad on the iOS device in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected or cellular data is on and connected for, on a computer browser go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up or continue to show off-line.
    - You can also wipe/erase the iOS device and have the device play a sound via iCloud.
    iCloud: Erase your device
    iCloud: Use Lost Mode
    - If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the device and report to police and carrier if iPhone or cellular iPad
    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the erase (it erases it) using it unless you had iOS 7 or later on the device. With iOS 7 or later, one has to enter the Apple ID and password to restore the device.

  • HT3231 I've just got MacBook pro and now I can't get pass the password section.  We didn't set a password

Help please, my MacBook pro is asking for a password but we didn't set one

You need to set a password. So, do this:
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
When the menubar appears select Terminal from the Utilities menu. Enter resetpassword at the prompt and press RETURN. Follow instructions in the dialog window that will appear.

  • I made the fatal mistake of allowing iCloud to handle my @mac mail account. I had set this address up with aliases and never had a problem.  Ever since iCloud has been handling it I have had problems. It seams impossible to claim my account back from iClo

I made the fatal mistake of allowing iCloud to handle my @mac mail account.
I had set this address up with aliases and never had a problem.
Ever since iCloud has been handling it I have had problems.
It seams impossible to claim my account back from iCloud. How can it be achieved or has Apple set a booby trap?

iCloud is the successor to MobileMe. MobileMe shuts down forever tomoorrow.
If you only want to use the email portion of your previous MobileMe account you can. You do not have to use all the other features of iCloud, just like you didn't have to use all the other features of MobileMe.
The email account has not really changed at all. Just the server address it comes from.
The sending emails problem you are having, is this on your Mac in Mail, in webmail at iCloud.com or on your iOS device?
When it doesn't succeed in sending, what does it do? Any error message?
What mail server settings are you using in Mail? What version of Mac OS X are you using?

  • "Add an email account to Outlook Before setting up ICloud"

When I click the boxes in Icloud to sync the Outlook calander and Contacts I get the message "Add an email account to Outlook Before setting up Icloud"  I have an hotmail account synced up into my outlook. Am i doing something wrong or is this an issue apple needs to fix.
I am running Windows 7 pro with 64bit  and outlook 2010

johnfromfort dodge: I can't access your latest reply for some reason, but I'll respond anyway.
I'm using both the calendar and contacts with Outlook 2010 on two PCs & iPhone 3GS and it works fine. I had trouble at first getting it to recognize Outlook on my main PC, but when I installed it on my husband's, it worked the first time.
When I finally got it working on mine, I did get a mess of a calendar, but I just deleted what it imported, then replaced it with my backup. I was a bit worried what would happen when my husband's came back online, but it seems to be working great.
Sure, it took some time and frustration, but it's worth it. I've been waiting for a solution like this for a long time. Plugging my phone into iTunes on 2 PCs to keep everything in sync was a drag and that didn't always work seamlessly either.

The Three Best Alternatives for Security Questions and Rescue Mail
        1. Use Apple's Express Lane.
Go to https://expresslane.apple.com ; click 'See all products and services' at the
bottom of the page. In the next page click 'More Products and Services, then
'Apple ID'. In the next page select 'Other Apple ID Topics' then 'Forgotten Apple
ID security questions' and click 'Continue'. Please be patient waiting for the return
phone call. It will come in time depending on how heavily the servers are being hit.
         2.  Call Apple Support in your country: Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support or
Apple ID- Contacting Apple for help with Apple ID account security. Ask to speak to

  • HT201303 asking for answers to security questions that I didn't set up

To change my password it is asking for answers to security questions that I didn't set up.

If you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) set up on your account then the steps half-way down this page give you a reset link for the questions on your account : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5312
If you don't have a rescue email address (you won't be able to add one until you can answer 2 of your questions) then you will need to contact iTunes Support / Apple to get the questions reset.
Contacting Apple about account security : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5699
When they've been reset (and if you don't already have a rescue email address) you can then use the steps half-way down the HT5312 link above to add a rescue email address for potential future use

Sorry, unless Find My Phone was turned on & activated on that phone, there is no way to locate it other than physically looking for it.

  • HT203433 I downloaded apps with one appleid on my iphone.  When my account was disabled I set up a new appleid & account.  Now I cannot update apps on my iphone that were downloaded with original appleid when I login with my new apple id.  What do I need

I downloaded apps with one appleid on my iphone.  When my account was disabled I set up a new appleid & account.  Now I cannot update apps on my iphone that were downloaded with original appleid when I login with my new apple id.  What do I need to do?

You can write into support and ask for help reenabling the account through this link here:
    http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/
Since the applications were purchased on the older account, you will need to log into that account to update them. The newer account will not recognize the purchases because they are not a part of the purchase history for the specific account.

  • I didn't set any password during setup of Lion, but now when I want to download stuff from safari, it asks me for password? plz help

I bought a new macbook air pre loaded with Lion. while setting up the system, I just input the user name, and didn't set any password.
But now when I wanna download stuff off safari, it asks me for password. The user name appears (the same one which I set) but it keeps on asking me the password which I never set. Can some one please help me. Thanks!

I did it like that, but for the purpose of not having to type my password every time since I'm installing a lot of programs, and yes, it asks for the password, but do not type anything and just click "ok" or "install", since you haven't set a password it should let you go through. I guess it asks for the "password" just to let you know it will install something, but just click ok.
I will set up a password once i have install everything in System Preferences/Users & Groups
    Hope it helps...
