An easy way to delete a whole album without having to select it's tracks?

I have only been using iTunes for the past week after purchasing an iPod Nano, and am used to using Wmp 11. In Wmp 11, if you want to delete an album from your local library or dap, you can just right-click the album art and select 'delete'- job done.
However, in iTunes, I have found I have to make sure my Artist and Album categories are shown at the top of my track list (by clicking the 'eye' button at the bottom right), select the album so just that albums tracks are displayed, select one of the tracks, then Ctrl+A to highlight all the tracks, then press Del. Is there something I am missing here? I have checked the iTunes help, and can't see any other way of deleting a whole album without having to highlight all the albums tracks.
Any help would be appreciated.

Blimey! Why didn't I think of that? Especially as I knew to press the 'Del' key to delete highlighted tracks. I am assuming you can do the same if you want all an artists album collection removed too- highlight the artist and press 'Del'?
I think what it is, I am just used to right-clicking with Wmp11, and I am not used to using the keyboard for such tasks.
Thanks for the reply. I know now my question must seem rather silly.

  • HT1660 is there an easy way to delete the whole itunes library and and start again. I notice there is only an add file/folder button but no remove facility

I recently upgraded to the iphone 5 and managed to sort the transition out with little trouble but noticed when I tried to put my music on that Itunes has messed with album info and either it or me has generated several copies of the same albums over the years and it makes it quite dificult to sort it all out before reloading on the phone. To stop the chaos I had hoped to clear the library and start again but cant find a way to do it. I was hoping to sort all my music out in original files and consolidate them into a proper folder. HOw do I do this. I notice there is an add fole and folder button but no take away??? is there an easy way?

Use Shift > View > Show Exact Duplicate Items as this is normally a more useful selection. You need to manually select all but one of each group to remove. If you have multiple references to the same files then don't send to the recycle bin. Use my DeDuper script if you don't want to do it by hand. See this thread for background and please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping.

  • My iCal runs very slowly. Is there a way to delete past events quickly without having to delete each event individually?

Ever since my new Mac OS update, my calendar runs very slowly, sometimes freezing. What shall I do? Could it be that past events are slowing it down? If so, how can I remove them easily without having to scroll through everything and press delete?

What settings have you in Preferences/Advanced delete events after they have passed?

  • I have 1200 bookmarks, want to delete all of them without having to select one by one...

    hello,
I found how to delete bookmarks, but by selecting one by one... isnt' there a way to select all of them in once ? (I have 1200).

You can reset all bookmarks on the [[Safe mode]] start window.
You would have to select all three main (root) folders one at a time (Toolbar, Menu, Unsorted) and select all bookmarks and folders in the right pane for each of them if you want to delete them in the Bookmarks Manager (Library).

  • Easy Way to Delete Duplicates?

Can someone please tell me if there's an easier way to delete duplicates in my iTunes Library than selecting each of them individually and removing them to the trash? I'm sure there is but I can't seem to get beyond having iTunes show me the duplicates.
    Thanks,
    Beth

Have a look at Doug's AppleScripts there are a couple of scripts there to help manage duplicates. Search the page for "Corral iTunes Dupes" and "Corral All dupes": Doug's AppleScripts for iTunes
Doug also has a shareware application called Dupin specifically for managing duplicates, you can get it here: Dupin

  • Is there an easy way to delete complete albums instead of selecting and deleting each single foto?

I am using an ipad 4 with IOS 8.0.2
I am using the Standard "Photo" app
Is there an easy way to delete complete albums instead of selecting and deleting each single photo? I want to reorganize the structure of my Pictures and delete lots of the photos and download new Pictures via iTunes Synchronisation.

Go to Albums. Tap edit in the upper right corner. Tap the x. Tap done.

  • HT201302 I have over 1000 photos in my camera roll, and I have saved them to my computer.  Is there an easy way to delete some or all of them to clear out space on my iPhone?

I have over 1000 photos in my camera roll, and I have saved them to my computer.  Is there an easy way to delete some or all of them to clear out space on my iPhone?

The quick way is when you imprort them to an app on your computer, usually there is the option to delete everything on the phone that was imported.  If you declined that option, then you have to do it one by one or manualy select in edit mode.

  • HT201272 I made a purchase of an album on iTunes...somehow I deleted the whole album from my iMac and now when I go back to my purchases it does not give me the option to download the whole album again, instead it gives me the option of plaing them...plea

I made a purchase of an album on iTunes...somehow I deleted the whole album from my iMac and now when I go back to my purchases it does not give me the option to download the whole album again, instead it gives me the option of plaing them...please help!!

Where are you looking to download them from ? You might be able to redownload them via the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage on your Mac's iTunes. If that album shows there but doesn't have the cloud symbol against it for redownloading then that implies that it's still in your iTunes library

  • I have many duplicates of my pictures on iPhoto there an easy way to delete these?

I have many duplicates of my pictures on iphoto Is there an easy way to delete these, 23,000 pictures would take years to go through.

Where are you seeing these duplicates?  In the iPhoto window or via the Finder?  If it's the Finder then you don't have true duplicates.  Each photo in iPhoto will have a minimum of two copies often three.  Then there will be additional faces images for each photo.
If you truly seeing duplicates while viewing in the iPhoto window there are two apps, actually one app and one Applescript script, for finding and removing duplicate photos from iPhoto. They are:
    Duplicate Annihilator
    iPhoto AppleScript to Remove Duplicates
However, do not ever remove files from iPhoto using the Finder.  That will corrupt the library.

  • My itunes library has duplicated all of my music and would take me hours to delete one by one. What is a quick easy way to delete over 2,500 duplicates?

My itunes library has duplicated all of my music and would take me hours to delete one by one. What is a quick easy way to delete over 2,500 duplicates?

Apple's official advice is here... HT2905: How to find and remove duplicate items in your iTunes library. It is a manual process and the article fails to explain some of the potential pitfalls.
Use Shift > View > Show Exact Duplicate Items to display duplicates as this is normally a more useful selection. You need to manually select all but one of each group of identical tracks to remove. Sorting the list by Date Added may make it easier to select the appropriate tracks, however this works best when performed immediately after the dupes have been created.  If you have multiple entries in iTunes connected to the same file on the hard drive then don't send to the recycle bin. This can happen, for example, if you start iTunes with a disconnected external drive, then connect it, reimport from your media folder, then restart iTunes.
Use my DeDuper script if you're not sure, don't want to do it by hand, or want to preserve ratings, play counts and playlist membership. See this thread for background. Please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping, whether you do so by hand or using my script, in case something goes wrong.

  • After editing images in Aperture, I want to overwrite the editing to an external drive.  Is thee an easy way to "add" the new work without the  long process of backing up the whole library.

After editing images in Aperture, I want to overwrite the new editing to a backup external drive.  Is there an easy way to "add" the new work without the  long process of backing up the whole library.

But the Library is not a program.  I use SuperDuper, and it is smart enough to treat Finder Packages (such as the Library) as a whole bunch of files and folders, and overwrites only those that have changed.  Can't CCC be set up the same way?

Photos in your camera roll? If so, launch Image Capture from your applications folder, connect your phone, highlight all the photos you want to delete, hit the delete key.

  • Song won't sync to iPad no matter what (deleted a whole album while listening to that song)

I bought a new album today at the store (Slaughterhouse, welcome to:Our House) and had a lot of problems with it today. I solved most of them (which included sorting all the songs into one album and into the same order) but, just when I think everything is going great as I put the album artwork in (done this before) my OCD makes me delete the whole album off the iPad to see if it all works again when I sync it. Well, I forgot to stop playing the first track (The Slaughter) when I deleted it, and no matter what I try I can't get it back. I have tried a lot, and nobody has asked a similar question so I can't find any more help.
As I said before, I have OCD, and only the first track is gone (which is just a skit), but, I bought this album JUST to put on my iPad, because we were out. I am really frustrated.
    What I have done includes:
Removing the album from the music library
Removing the album from my own playlist
    Resyncing the whole album
Removing the CD and putting it back in
Trying to regroup the whole album like before, including trying to have The Slaughter have the same artwork as the rest of the album
This really troubles me, and I might think again about getting an album from the store if nobody answers this.

All right, I tried again the next day and I didn't have a problem. I still have no idea what happened the first time, but I guess it was just a random glitch or something. Sorry for the trouble...although nobody else appears to have figured it out either. Thanks again.

  • Recently downloaded a whole cd on itunes. However, as it was downloading one of the songs was interrupted and didn't fully download. How do i get the whole song without having to pay again?

I recently downloaded a whole cd on itunes. However, as it was downloading one of the songs was interrupted and didn't fully download. How do i get the whole song without having to pay again?

Depending upon what country that you are in (music can't be re-downloaded in all countries) then try deleting the incomplete track from your iTunes library and redownload it via the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes.
If you aren't in a country where you can re-download music then you will need to contact iTunes Support - try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via the Store > View Account menu option and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find that song and use the 'Report a Problem' link and fill in details about the problem (iTunes support should reply within, I think, about 24 hours).
If the 'report a problem' link doesn't work (it's been taking some people to this site on a browser instead of showing a form in iTunes) then you can try contacting iTunes support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/- click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page.
