An error has occurred, repeatedly, in downloading Mountain Lion

I have cleared my AppStore cache, reset my preferences, signed in, signed out, rebooted my MBP, rebooted my router, checked my internet speed, called Apple Support (who asked my if I had done all of the above), does anyone have any other ideas how I might get rid of this roadblock in downloading the update? I'm at the end of my rope.

This is what it looks like in my app store; the download button isn't even working.

Error 1004 and 1013: These errors may be the result of the connection to gs.apple.com being redirected or blocked. Follow these steps to resolve these errors:
Check security software. Ensure that communication to gs.apple.com is allowed. Follow this article for assistance with security software. iTunes for Windows: Troubleshooting security software issues.

    Quit the App Store.
Disable anti virus software and turn off the Firewal in System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Firewall
Relaunch the App Store. From the menu bar top of your screen click Store > Check for Unfinished Downloads
If that doesn't help, try here >  Mac App Store: How to resume interrupted downloads

  • Not able to update pixelator. Purchases show "an error has occurred" repeatedly

I am having problems in updating Pixelator which I purchased from App Store. When I click update I am informed that it can not be down loaded go to Purchases. When I do that I get the message that an error has ocurred. What do I do?

If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Select
    /var/log ▹ install.log
from the hierarchical list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar. Then select the messages from the last installation or update attempt, starting from the time when you initiated it. If you're not sure when that was, start over and note the time. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.

  • Unexpected error has occurred when I download apps or tunes only on my iPad

This seems really strange but why is it that I cannot download any music or apps to my iPad no matter what I have tried,  Last time this happened I couldn't do anything due to issues with the bank thinking it was fraud. This cannot be the issue though as I tried my iPod touch and it works perfectly and have even purchased music with it. Please help!

Try signing out of your account and restart your iPad.
Go to Settings>Store>Apple ID and tap the ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button. Go back to Settings>Store> Apple ID and sign in again.

  • An error has occured, Can't download.

I can't download Lion at work, I've had to set up two new apple IDs, for the two stations here, because it's not available on disk, and now if just wont download. Worked fine when I did it at home. Hardware shouldn't be an issue as it's a mac pro with 2 x 2.8 quad-core intel Xeon processors, also 200gb available and running 10.6.8.
    Any help would be ace.
    Paul.

same problem and precisely with the OS X lion up to date program.
I called apple but they said there's nothing they can do for now. there are many problems they are trying to resolve and one of them is the up to date program.
the only solution available they said is to wait. but they didn't specify for how long.
One would think that they'd test their solution well when they took the decision to make the OS available only though the appstore or at least offer a back up solution should people be unable to obtain it like it is the case for us.

    Suggestions?

  • Try to download Maverick,stopped a d says 3 incompatible files,an error has occurred

Tried to update to Maverick, have MBP,10.8.5,after a while a message came up,an error has occurred, three incompatible downloads.Cannot restart or remove the downloaded portion of Maverick. Many thanks.  i Photo 9.5.1,Pages 5.0.1 and Numbers 3. are named incompatible programs.

    I dont understand your question.
While the download progresses, it does not check for software. Only after you run the installer.
The installer goes into your apps folder and can easily be removed.
    Start over.

  • HT202159 an error has occured

    To whom it may concerned:
I purchased mountain lion to update my 10.6.8 Macbook. I was downloading with slow speed, so I decided to resume it when I receive faster Internet speed.
However, when I tried to resume,  it shows "an error has occurred" and the download bottom didn't work at all.
What should I do? Please advise ASAP.
    Thank you,
    April

I was downloading with slow speed, so I decided to resume it when I receive faster Internet speed.
    April ...
For downloading Mountain Lion from the App Store, a high speed (broadband) internet connection (consistent) is strongly recommended by Apple as noted here > iTUNES STORE - MAC APP STORE - TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Stopping and resumeing the download on a slow connection could cause the download to time out.
Keep in mind, if you need to reinstall OS X or repair the the startup disk using Mountain Lion Recovery, that requires broadband access to the internet via Wi-Fi or an Ethernet connection.
If you are near an Apple store, they may download Mountain Lion for you but no guarantees.

In "purchases" while in my App Store, Mountain Lion says, "an error has occurred" and the green 'download' button is grey and I cannot re-start the download. I was abroad when I purchased this app and during download, my internet connection was lost. At the time, Apple was still offering the e-chat, so I did that and the man was very helpful and it was a quick fix, so my download button turned green again, and I was able to begin the download. BUT during the download, I was kicked offline once again, and I decided to wait until I was back in the USA. I will go in to an Apple store and ask assistance, but if there is something I am missing, I'd like to try that first. Thanks in advance for any advice.

  • Mavericks will not download from the App store. Repeatedly receive a message that "an error has occurred. Try again"

I have repeatedly tried to download Mavericks from the App store. When attempted from the update tab it fails and instructs me to try again from the Purchases tab. When I try it there, I receive an error message that "an error has occurred" and to try again. I have successfully downloaded other apps (both Apple and third party) but Mavericks won't do it.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you boot, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.
