An error occurred attempting to perform the search. Faulty bluetooth?
So aside from the "Bluetooth Unavailable" error that a lot of users are experiencing, I've done so much searching on my specific issue. No answers so far. I've come to the forums for help and insight.
My bluetooth IS available. I have it set on discoverable. However, when I click to set up any device whatsoever in the Bluetooth Setup Assistant, 90% of the time, the error "An error occurred attempting to perform the search." appears next to a yellow triangle with an exclamation point inside. One in every 30 tries, it might pick up my cell phone or a bluetooth headset or a mouse. But the connection unpairs as soon as the setup process is complete. Almost all of the time, that error appears. Rarely will I get the message "No devices found." Also, my PDA and phone never see my Macbook as discoverable.
I have three months left on the original Apple warranty. It's a refurbished Macbook 2GHz Core Duo running 10.4.10 with 2 GB of RAM. I bought it 9 months ago from apple.com. Is this mostlikely an OS X problem with Tiger or an actual hardware malfunction with the bluetooth module? Has anyone else experienced this problem?
PS - I should mention that the same type of malfunction happens when I'm in Windows XP Professional in Bootcamp.
Hi WizKidd,
welcome to macbook forum.
try to reset PRAM and or PMU to refresh your Hardware including your bluetooth.

http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=2238
Also you can tun hardware test by starting using installer disk and press D key while it start up.
If those doesn't help, consult apple care or apple store and let them examine and have it fixed.
Good Luck.

Bluetooth - "An error occurred attempting to perform the search"
Hi all,
This has only happened for me with Tiger.
This has now happened twice. My bluetooth phones (Nokia & O2) sync beautifully for couple of months. Then I get "An error occurred attempting to perform the search". Isync then hangs, cannot be force quit and I have to power the machine off (holding down power button for 10 seconds to shut it down).
Apple tech support in Australia had not heard of the problem.
Running all latest firmware, software for bluetooth - that is not the problem.
What is strange: I create another account on the mac, log in as that account and the problem is not there - it all works perfectly.
Three options; (1) reinstall Tiger, (2) use test account to sync (this ***** as all my data is not in the test account, or (3) try and fix it...
Any one have any ideas??? It appears to be an account issue / account corruption affecting bluetooth, rather than a bluetooth issue
17" Powerbook G4 1.67GHz Mac OS X (10.4.6)I should have tried this earlier - but I just deleted any plist file that had the word bluetooth in it. It appears to have worked and is now finding the phones and synching.
Next time I will try this - that is if the bluetooth preference list files keep corrupting -
An error occurred while attempting to perform the operation.
Hi All,
I am getting an error while running the report:
"An error occurred while attempting to perform the operation. Then operation did not complete successfully."
Although I can see the data coming is correct, but don't know why this error is coming.
I have seen for NULL values.
How can I see the detail log to trace the error?
Please help.
Thanks,
Himanshu TiwariHi,
You can login as system using SQLPlus and use the DBMS_SYSTEM.set_sql_trace_in_session procedure to set trace on another Discoverer session. This should establish if there is any database error occuring in the Discoverer session.

I attempted to perform the itunes update on two different PCs. Itunes will no longer open and prompted me to reinstall itunes. The reinstall did not work after several attempts and I received an error: "Runtime error R6034. An application has made an attempt to load the C Runtime library incorrectly. Please contact the application's support team for more information." Has anyone else had this issue? How can I resolve it?
I've been having the same exact problem this morning, and from the looks of it a lot of other people are posting about this issue, so I don't know if it's maybe something wrong with the download but I'm just relieved that it seems to be that instead of a corruption issue with my windows installation. I'm just wondering how long this will take to be resolved.

Hi All,
I have a two node 2003 cluster, When any one of the cluster node holding resources goes down, the resources are not failing over to the running node.
In the running node I receive the pop-up error message

After I click on ok on the pop-up error message the resources are coming online on the running node. If I dont click ok the pop-up error message. The Cluadmin screen is not responding and the resources are not coming online.
In the cluster log i see the below messages realted to Error ID 1726

How to FIX this issue?
Regards,
Stunner.Hi,
Unfortunately, the available information is not enough to have a clear view of the occurred behavior. Base on my experience, it may cause by some of one resource abnormal
failure, I suggest that please schedule a down time to run “Repair Active Directory object” in “Simulate Failue of this resource” status. And the operation “Repair Active Directory Object” will force to update the object’s attributes.

Kind day, colleague.
It was required to organize a statement chain for TimeSheet of employees, as we realized. Everything is good, but at linear managers in PSW opportunity to execute Approve when viewing TimeSheet of the employee remained, and in attempt to approve TimeSheet there
is a mistake.
500 Internal Server Error
"An error occurred when communicating with the server. Check connectivity with your administrator to determine whether further action is necessary. "
Accept, is carried out as it is necessary.
It is a bug or we not correctly realized approval chain?issue is related to the user booking time against a task that was past the finish/end date listed in the Project Schedule.
To resolve the user needs to submit their time on a valid task that is still within the current reporting timeframe, or have the Project Manager
update the task in questions so that the finish/end dates are at or beyond the submission period and then republish the project. After that, the user should be able to go in and submit their timesheet with success.

Event ID 1012 - There was an error while attempting to read the local hosts file
When I start my Computer after it has been turned off overnight (switched off at the Power supply) I get a Blue screen and have to reboot the PC. in the Event log it has this error: Event ID 1012 - DNS client events - There was an error while attempting
to read the local hosts file.
Once the PC has booted evrything is O.K. I can restart the PC with no problems, it only seems to happen if the PC has been switched off for a while.
I am connected to the net via an Netgear dg834v4 Modem/Router
Windows 7 Ultimate
Intel Q8200 CPU
2 x 360 Gb HDD
ATI 4680 !Gb Video Card
Digital HDA X-Mystique 7.1 Sound Card
Aver media 777 TV Tuner card.
Thank you
jeepers01
After further Investigation it seems that this error is Not responsible for my Blue screening......I started my PC after leaving it off all night, and it started normally, but i still have this error in the Event Log - System.....I have searched the Technet
forums (and there is a lot of ID 1012 errors) but non relating to my problem....If anyone knows what is causing this error and how to fix it, i'd be Grateful....although it does not seem to affect the PC in any way that i can see.
thanks
jeepers01Since Windows system uses separated user mode and kernel mode memory space, stop errors are always caused by kernel portion components, such as a third-party device drivers, backup software or anti-virus services (buggy services).
The system goes to a BSOD because there is some exceptions happened in the kernel (either the device driver errors or the service errors), and Windows implements this mechanism: When it detects some errors occur in the kernel, it will kill the box in case
some more severe damage happens. Then we get a blue screen or the system reboots (it depends on what the system settings are).
To troubleshoot this kind of kernel crash issue, we need to debug the crashed system dump. Unfortunately, debugging is beyond what we can do in the forum. A suggestion would be to contact Microsoft Customer Service and Support (CSS) via telephone so that
a dedicated Support Professional can assist with your request. Please be advised that contacting phone support will be a charged call.
To obtain the phone numbers for specific technology request please take a look at the web site listed below:
Microsoft - Help and Support
If you are outside the US please see
Microsoft Worldwide Home for regional support phone numbers.
Meantime we can try some available steps as a general troubleshoot.
1. Please remove the antivirus and run the system with a period. If the issue does not occur, mainly focus on antivirus settings and compatibility.
2. Disable Automatic Restart and see detail information on the blue screen.
1).Click Start, in the Start Search box enter sysdm.cpl.
2).Click the tab Advanced. Under Startup and Recovery, click the Settings button.
3). Uncheck “Automatically restart”.
4). On the drop-down menu “Write debugging information”, choose “Small memory dump”.
5). Click OK.
When Blue Screen displays, you may find some useful information.

Error occurred while restoring from the TimeMachine backup
I have an brand new HD that I want to restore from TimeMachine.
Erased and partitioned this brand new drive. Created 2 partitions and formatted as “OS Extended Journaled/ GUID.”
Did a “Command R recovery boot” and went through the steps to backup from TM to my new HD.
15 seconds into the restoration process Msg. reads:
“Error occurred while restoring from the backup.
Restart your computer and then try restoring again.”
Trouble shooting:
Luckily my original files and initial boot drive that TM was backing up from remains fine and I performed some more TM back ups as well as a TM backup onto another drive as well.
I even tried restoring to another empty drive with older backups and backups off of another HD and got the same error message.
All my BU’s and BU attempts have been within 10.7.3 on the same MP.
Thank you in advance for any help!!These are the four hard drives I am using for troubleshooting:
1. Internal new 1TB drive
2. External erased and reformatted 500GB firewire drive
3. Internal original 500GB drive designated for TimeMachine with
~200Gigs of successful backup (Including entire bootdrive)
4. External erased and reformatted 300GB drive that I told
TimeMachine to back up to for testing purposes.
I have only erased and reformatted the first 2 empty drives to use as a future boot drive once I can finally restore from my TimeMachine files to one of them successfully.
My troubles all started when I couldn’t get my cpu to boot from my initial boot drive. That’s what has put me on this track. I have since repaired that boot drive with DiskWarrior to perfect order.
Through a lot of my trouble shooting, I have left that initial boot drive in but have since taken it out. I don’t have lion installed on any other drive. Again, my 2 test drives are empty.
I don’t know how long this old boot drive will remain in perfect order and am glad I have found that I cant use TimeMachine on this side of needing it desperately.
Pondini- Thank you again for hangin' in there with me. I think I understand your last recommendation:
Do I load a new copy of Lion from this location?:
http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/os-x-lion/id444303913?mt=12&ls=1
The suggestion of “coping the installer” is to have a hard copy like I used to in SnowLeopard etc. for a faster future install? -
I am unable to remove a host from my Virtual Machine Manager 2012 R2. I receive the following error:
Error (2606)
Unable to perform the job because one or more of the selected objects are locked by another job.
Recommended Action
To find out which job is locking the object, in the Jobs view, group by Status, and find the running or canceling job for the object. When the job is complete, try again.
I have already tried running the following command in SQL Server Management Studio
SELECT * FROM [VirtualManagerDB].[dbo].[tbl_VMM_Lock] where TaskID='Task_GUID'
I received this error back:
Msg 8169, Level 16, State 2, Line 1
Conversion failed when converting from a character string to uniqueidentifier.
I have also tried rebooting both the host and the Virtual Machine Manager Server. After rebooting them both, I still receive the same error when trying to remove the host.
Here are my server details
VMM Server OS = Windows 2012 Standard
VMM Version = 2012 R2 3.2.7510.0
Host OS = Windows 2012 R2 Datacenter
Host Agent Version = 3.2.75.10.0
SQL Server OS = Windows 2012 Datacenter
SQL Version = 2012 SP 1 (11.0.3000.0)Hi there,
How many hosts are you managing with your VMM server?
The locking job might be the background host refresher job. Did you see any jobs in the jobs view, when the host removal job failed?
If there is no active jobs in the jobs view when this host removal job fails, can you please turn on the VMM tracing, retry the host removal, and paste back the traces for the failed job (search for exception and paste the whole stack)?
Thanks!

#1.5# #1209391819428#/SystHi Dorothea,
Thanks for the reply. The property rdbms.connection is already set to jdbc/pool/<sid>.
This is the file content for config.properties.
#Generated by Config Tool

rdbms.maximum_connections=5
system.name=BID
secstorefs.keyfile=/sapmnt/BID/global/security/data/SecStore.key

rdbms.driverLocation=/usr/sap/BID/SYS/jdbc/tbx/jt400.jar
rdbms.connection=jdbc/pool/BID
rdbms.initial_connections=1
We are using the toolbox driver.
The configtool gui opens up properly.
We tried editing the password for the admin/password/BID...
in the secure store but still comes back with the same error.
We did not change the the jdbc/pool/BID/Password as we were not sure.
What should jdbc/pool/BID/Password correspond to? We are putting in the J2EE_ADMIN passwords as the admin/user/BID is J2EE_ADMIN
If we change the password for the jdbc/pool/BID/Password, we believe we should be using the password for the jdbc/pool/BID/User, which in this case is SAP<SID>DB or SAPBIDDB.
We have verified the passwords for this user SAPBIDDB on the i5/OS and they look ok to us.
To verify, also logged in the portal using J2EE_ADMIN and the password given here in the configtool.
Still the same error persists.
Thanks

S S ManneHi Manne,
As your description, you come across an error when trying to install SQL Server 2008 express Service Pack 1 on windows XP Service Pack 3 machine. From your error log, I get the error(unable to read registry value). As my analysis, the issue could be due
to that your account doesn't have access to registry. Below are the recommendations for troubleshooting the issue.
1. Make sure that you log in as an administrator of the machine.
2. Please follow the steps below to make sure that you have granted the right permission to registry.
a. Located HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server in registry.
b. Right click and go to Permission, then you could see user accounts or groups. If your user account is not in the list, you could click Add to add your account there.
c. Select your account and Click on Advance.
d. Check on both check box ('Include inheritable permissions from this object's parent'.
and 'Replace all child object permissions with inheritable permissions from this object'), click OK.
e. Click OK again.

Hi All - After the upgrade, I am getting SP-Crawl Error for certain links. I check the Crawl component has proper permission.
Google is showing some article like
http://blog.karstein-consulting.com/2012/04/20/error-in-crawl-log-the-sharepoint-item-being-crawled-returned-an-error-when-attempting-to-download-the-item/
not sure if this resolution is referring to 2010 and/or 2013.
I checked the registery editor. I couldn't find 14.0 under the Office Server.
Any clue?
Regards,
Khushi
KhushiI checked the web application policy the search crawl account has full read permission.

When trying to play itunes from my PC to my stereo connected to an Airport Express, I gen an error that says "An error occured while connecting to the Airplay device "Stereo" an unknown error occured (-15000)". This has happened before and for reasons unknown to me, the problem corrects itself, then it starts again/ Makes me wish I did not have my music on itunes.
moehadi, Welcome to the discussion area!
This is typically caused by a firewall or Internet security software running on your PC. Please read the comments in "Error -3256 or -15000 when streaming to AirPort Express base stations using iTunes".
Also there is "iTunes 8: Unknown error -15000 when attempting to stream music to devices connected to AirPort Express with AirTunes". -
Error occurred while connecting to the FTP server: java.lang.NullPointerExc
Hello Experts,
I have a scenario wherein i have to send file from FTP to application server of ECC.
I don't want to do any mapping and transformation; Just need to transfer the file as it is.
I have achieved this using Integrated scenario.
But in the sender communication channel i get an error saying "Error occurred while connecting to the FTP server "*.*.*.*:*": java.lang.NullPointerException"
I have checked all my FTP parameters many times and everything is correct.
Thanks,
Lalit Mohan Gupta.Hi,
You can check the connect test of FTP in either of the below ways.
1. Use FTP Dos command (i.e go the run and type ftp..) and from there try to login to the source FTP server by using FTP Commands. If you are able to connect to the same then ask your basis to check the connectivity test from PI server.
If you are not able to connect check the error you are getting and post the same if you are not able to resolve the same.
2. There is Program from SAP which need to be deployed into Server and after that you can test the ftp connection by yourselves from PI server. Search in sap support for Connection Test SAP Note..

An unexpected error occurred attempting to prepare your library
So I'm trying to use the new photos library, and I keep getting this error no matter what i do when importing my iPhoto library in:
An unexpected error occurred attempting to prepare your library (1,114)
Ive rebuilt the library in iPhoto, fixed permissions, and I'm almost to the point of just exporting everything, but i can't say I'm a huge fan of what Ive seen in photos so far, so I'm currently just using iPhoto. Is anyone else having issues importing their library from if to photos? I haven't even attempted to move apertures.Same thing has happened to me. I'm using a MacBook Aluminum (Late 2008) upgraded to 8GB of RAM and 1TB HDD running Yosemite 10.10.3. I successfully set up the photo app on an admin account that has no photos, but had the same error on my main user account.
Troubleshooting attempted so far:
1. Closed the app then tried again - did not correct the error
2. Rebooted then tried opening Photo App - did not correct the error
3. Rebooted in "Safe Mode" and repaired disk permissions - did not correct the error
I'm currently copying all my photo's to an external HDD with the intention of deleting my iPhoto library (once complete) then setting up the Photo App with no photos in my library. I'm hoping it will allow me to set it up at that point like it did with my admin account, then import all my old pics. I still have about 2 hours to go until my photos have copied over to my external HDD. I'm hoping someone will come along with a better solution. I really don't want to spend several hours/day re-organizing my photos.
