An HTML file of of bookmarks that displayed properly in FF 3.x doesn't display properly in FF 4.

I've long used a program that converts my bookmarks into a barebones HTML-coded webpage. In previous versions of FF (and in all versions of IE), the page has always displayed the same way, with various levels of indentation reflecting the hierarchical relationships of the bookmarks and theirs folders (alphabetically, with the folder names in boldface and files indented under their respective folders). With FF 4, the file displays with all links flush left -- no indentation anywhere. In IE, the file still displays as in the past. So it looks like FF 4 interprets and displays HTML code in a way (or ways?) different from the way earlier versions of FF interpreted and displayed the code. I liked the old way. Is there something I need to configure in FF 4 to get the page to display as it did in the past?

Hello,
We have semiliar problems in sweden with Adobe Reader X 10.1 Swe and Internet Explorer 8.0 with streamed PDF files.
We had some issues and got them resolved by the following
Upgraded to Adobe Reader 10.1.2.45 Eng
- Print Issue:http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/pdf-wont-print-reader-10.html
- Grey box in Internet explorer: http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/pdf-opens-grey-screen-browser.html
- Add site as trusted: Edit-> Preferences, unbox Enable Enhanced Security + add the host/url to site that is whitelisted to send pdf files
(the Automaticly trust sites from mu Win OS security zones doesnt work for us)
The thing is we run MUI pack on our Citrix servers and want Adobe Reader in Swe but it havent been translated yet...
So we have to wait for the swedish release on Adobe Reader X 10.1.2
Thanks,

    Is that Ubuntu 11.04?
    Ubuntu 11.04 displays window menus in the control bar at the top of the screen<br />
    Click on Bookmarks/Show All Bookmarks then move your mouse to the left upper corner toward Firefox Web Browser.<br />
    You'll get pop up menu (Organize, Views and Import and Backup).<br />

  • Firefox will not display my HTML file as its contents - only displays the HTML text (firefox 5.0).

    I can download a file as a Firefox file (zipped) and it displays successfully. Then I can save the file as a text file and see the HTML text.
    When I work on the HTML text file and then try to display the modified file in Firefox 5.0 and Windows XP, Firefox will only show the HTML text, not the display of the contents of the file.

    Make sure that the file has a .html file extension if you want Firefox to render the content.
    Your above posted system details show outdated plugin(s) with known security and stability risks.

  • Importing new bookmark html file without doubling bookmarks

    I saved my bookmarks form my laptop in an html file. now I want to import that file into the bookmarks on Firefox on my netbook.
    the files are basically the same but i have dded several new bookmarks because I was using my laptop and have not used my netbook in awhile.
    how do I import the new html file without doubling the bookmarks that are already on my firefox which is running on my netbook. a lot of the folders are the same.

    There is no option to just import the new bookmarks.
    A few options.
    # Import the HTML file, then use the CheckPlaces extension to remove the duplicates - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/checkplaces
    # Use the Firefox Sync extension to synchronize the bookmarks - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/firefox-sync
    # If you want bookmarks on the netbook to be replaced with those from the laptop used the method in the following link - https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Backing+up+and+restoring+bookmarks
    With the last method, you backup the bookmarks to a json file and import that file onto the netbook. When you restore a json file on the other computer it will remove all bookmarks that currently exist and replace them with those in the json file.

  • "local" html files hangs browser more that 3.X any work arounds?

    I have a program on another machine that creates an html file every 30 seconds. This html file has javascript which compares dates and figures out when to check for the next 30 second update. Works fine in the office. When I VPN in it takes longer to fetch this file. Firefox 3.X did not seem hang for minutes at a time, 4 does. Any tweaks available? I don't want to down grade to Firefox 3 because I LOVE the pinned tabs feature!! For now I'm running a separate instance of firefox just for this page.

    ( links in emails )
    this is what fixed my issue with links in my windows live mail
    in Firefox go to tools >options >advanced > general tab > at the bottom click the check now button to make sure Firefox is your default browser . if its not click yes to make it default now your links in emails should open in Firefox properly

  • Can an external html file be loaded into and displayed in Flash?

    I currently pull an html file into our site via iframe.  (due to various factors, I cannot host the information in the html on our site and need to host it elsewhere).  Is it possible to use a loader or other method to pull this information into flash?

    Thanks.  I didn't think so, but needed confirmation from someone much smarter than me.

  • I pulled the bookmarks html file off of my computer after it crashed, and am trying to get my old bookmarks into firefox. How does one do that?

    When my computer crashed, we managed to recover a bunch of the files and information from it. One of the files we pulled was the bookmarks.html from the firefox folder. The computer was running on Vista when it crashed, and I now have it running 7 Professional. The file is recorded as a Chrome html file on the new computer, and when I click on it, it pulls up a basic html page within Chrome or firefox that has links to the firefox website (kind of like a webpage version of the bookmarks folder from the toolbar, but without any of the bookmark adding capabilities). I'd like to get my old bookmarks loaded into firefox. Help?

    Firefox hasn't used the '''bookmarks.html''' file for storing bookmarks since the Firefox 2 versions, in 2008. Later versions use '''places.sqlite''' for bookmarks and history. What you have is the default file that Firefox uses on new installations and new Profiles, which has like 6 bookmarks.
    If you still have access to that old hard drive, see this for help: <br />

  • Program to read html file and to open the links in that html file

    program to read html file and to open the links in that html file..
    ex:- to read automatically all next links in the html file and save it hard disk

    Start here;
    http://java.sun.com/products/jfc/tsc/articles/bookmarks/
    It gives you all of the information you need to parse the HTML file using the HTMLEditorKit that is a part of the Java SDK.
    Once you get the links from the file, then you can think about connecting to each.

  • How to render HTML files in Java?

    I've read a bit about rendering HTML files using JEditorPane, but been told it's quite limited, and doesn't handle many events other than Hyperlinks stuff...
    I heard that Java bean has a slight more advanced HTML renderer, is that right?
    The thing is that I'm hoping to create a simple (static) HTML editor using Java, but need something to render the HTML file...and I need more event handleling, e.g. mouse click on what element (text, image or table) of the rendered HTML file.
    Can someone please give me some ideas?

    If you just need to display the HTML page with link support, you can use the JEditorPane with the content type as text/html. Look up the Java Tutorial on this site (http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/uiswing/components/text.html) and the API docs for details on how to use it.

  • Combining history, .html files, and sorting

    Is there a way to create something comparable to a bookmarklet (as described in [/questions/956384]) for browsing history and if so, how?
    Also, would any of the history be lost (as mentioned by John99 in connection with [/questions/956552])?
    Thank you!

    Sorry, there isn't an option to export browsing history to an HTML file as with bookmarks. History was never stored in an HTML file, so that's why that option isn't available for history. And the old RDF history format ''(pre- Firefox 3.0 versions)'' had few other uses beyond data storage and has seemed to quickly fall by the wayside as far as the number of files in Firefox that use RDF format files any longer. Plus browsing history isn't considered nearly as important as bookmarks.
    Wait and see what other support helpers can come up with as far as ideas, but it may take a few days for getting usable ideas.

  • When I try to open the HTML file "file:///C:/Users/DHeimann/Documents/JP Cohousing/Retreat agenda 2014.htm", the system attempts to access Gmail and hangs.

    I can open various most other *.htm or *.html files on my C drive without a problem. However, there are other HTML files on the drive that do have this problem when I try to open them.
    When I try to open the file in Internet Explorer rather than Firefox, I get a message that JavaScript is not enabled. However, I do have JavaScript enabled, and have just updated Java to Version 7, Update 51.

    One of the problems with saving web pages from complex dynamic sites like Gmail is that you may be saving the instructions for rendering the page rather than the actual content of the page. In that case, if you are logged out of your account or there is a cross-site security bar to pulling the needed data, then the saved page may not display correctly or at all. If a message is critical, it's a good idea to print or save the page to PDF or grab a screen shot to work around that problem.
    The message you're getting in Internet Explorer may be related to the fact that IE has different security zones with different restrictions. For example, sites in the Internet Zone normally can run JavaScript, and sites in the Restricted Sites list cannot. The local computer zone has much tighter security compared with the old IE6/XP days, and that may explain what you're seeing there.
    P.S. Browsers interpret JavaScript internally without using the Java plugin.

  • Cannot open HTML files on Win7 using FF 3.6.10 as default browser.

    When I click on any HTML file in Windows 7 (64 bit, Ultimate) I get an error dialog that says "There was a problem sending the command to the program."
    The only way I can open local HTML files is with IE as default browser - which I do not want.
    I first noticed the error when clicking links in emails in Outlook 2010. But now it also happens on any local HTML file - like help files (help files that I really need to be able to easily read).
    I have tried editing the registry (this solution found at http://www.raymond.cc/blog/archives/2008/03/25/fix-general-failure-when-open-link-or-url-from-outlook-and-windows-mail/) which temporarily fixed the problem, but would not work a second time to fix the issue as the change I made was still present in the registry, so nothing to do.
    I tried making IE the default browser then making FF the default browser again, but that didn't work.
    I tried checking the default program for HTML files in Win7, but that is set to FF.
    I don't get it. This just started happening in the last 2 weeks or so.
    The "This happened" drop-down below is not entirely correct. This happens whenever I click on a local HTML link or a link in an Outlook email. But, the "This happened" drop down does not have an option for "When I click a local HTML link".

    ( links in emails )
    this is what fixed my issue with links in my windows live mail
    in Firefox go to tools >options >advanced > general tab > at the bottom click the check now button to make sure Firefox is your default browser . if its not click yes to make it default now your links in emails should open in Firefox properly

  • Help with an HTML file in Flash.

    Hi there.
    I'm attempting to import an html file into my flash document
    into a textfield on a movie clip. The text works fine, as does the
    css I have attached, but the <a> tag will not work. I've
    attached my Actionscript and HTML files in the hopes that someone
    will be able to give me a hand! Thanks in advance.

    Hi, here is my ActionScript code:
    function addArticle(sLinkage:String):Void{
    if(oOpenedArticle[sLinkage]!=undefined) {
    oOpenedArticle[sLinkage].swapDepths(nTopDepth);
    return;
    function loadArticle():Void {
    var nWidth:Number = mcDisplayBackground2._width;
    var nHeight:Number = mcDisplayBackground2._height;
    var nX:Number = mcDisplayBackground2._x;
    var nY:Number = mcDisplayBackground2._y;
    this.createTextField("tArticle", this.getNextHighestDepth(),
    nX, nY, nWidth, nHeight);
    tArticle.multiline = true;
    tArticle.wordWrap = true;
    tArticle.textColor = 0x000000;
    tArticle.html = true;
    tArticle.condenseWhite = true;
    function loadData():Void {
    var lvArticleContent:LoadVars = new LoadVars();
    lvArticleContent.onData = function(sHTMLData:String):Void {
    tArticle.htmlText = sHTMLData;
    var cssStyles:TextField.StyleSheet = new
    TextField.StyleSheet();
    cssStyles.onLoad = function():Void {
    tArticle.styleSheet = this;
    lvArticleContent.load("about.html");
    cssStyles.load("aof.css");
    var nTopDepth:Number;
    var oOpenedArticle:Object = new Object();
    mcAboutButton.onRelease = function():Void {
    loadData();
    gotoAndPlay(20);
    loadArticle();
    And my HTML:

    </p>
    </body>
    </html>

    Hi
    OK, your path has to be fully qualified, tutorials.html
    doesn't work but
    http://mysite/tutorials.html
    should.
    When you think about it the swf doesn't know where it is, so
    calling tutorials.html has no starting reference.
    Placing a fully qualified path enables your link to find its
    target, irrespective of where the swf is.
    Although this is not true when called across domains, thats a
    whole new game.
    Hope it helps
