An infoset in a Multiprovider affects system performance ?
Dear One´s,
I have an info object 0COORDER which is used in the infoset and multiprovider. If the same infoset which holds this info object is used in the multiprovider, then does it affects any performance ?
Thanks for your concern,
Raj
Hi Raja,
It does not make any difference in the performance using an infoset in multiprovider. Its all depend on the join condition which you are using in the infoset which fetches the data.

Will a Dual Monitor config. affect system performance?
I have an ATI Mac SE card installed [256 megs] in my dual G5 with 4 gigs of system ram.
Will a second monitor on the card affect system performance in any way?
thanks.
-ptfigg.Paul,
How I distribute things depends on the size and relationship of the monitors.
One of the great things about FCP is you can save a great number of custom setups so, just play around and SAVE each set up. You can always delete ones that don't do it for you later.

After compressed the database table affect the system performance
There is a very big database table in my system called MSEG. It is about 910G and the wasted tablespace is about 330G. I want to compress the table, but the table is written and deleted frequently. will it affect the system performance if I compress the table. Or I can only select reorganize the dababase table avoid it affect the system performance? Thanks.
Hi Huiyong,
If you talk about table compression, it cannot be done online. we need to do this with a planned downtime. Table compression has some percentage of overhead on CPU. Refer SAP note for
1289494
FAQ: Oracle compression
1436352
Oracle Database 11g Advanced Compression for SAP Systems
If you talk about online table reorg, yes definitely there would be impact on user performance.
As the table size is very big it may take some days or hours to perform online Reorg.
Other faster method is to perform table export import which is faster than online reorg. But it will again require downtime .
Hope this helps.

Process Order tables and Production System Performance
Hi All,
What are the different tables of Process order? Also how do i know which table affects the system performance of Production system and to what extent if Change Logging is made active ?
The issue is in our clients place we would like to set the Change Logging ( Records changes made for any transaction ) for Process orders and we would like to know to which tables change logging should be made active so that Production system performance is not affected.
Please help me regarding this.
Thanks in Advance,
Neetha Avani. All the changes done in any transaction are saved in CDPOS table.
when there is any report developed based on this table then the performance will be very slow.
Tables used for process orders are
AFKO Order header data PP orders
AFPO Order item
AFRU Order Confirmations
AFRUHR Order Confirmations for HR
AFRV Confirmation pool
AFVC Operation within an order
Hope the above helps. -
Degraded system performance - possibly caused by external LaCie HD
I'm stumped over what to do to solve a serious performance problem with my iMac. Here's the setup:
Prior to today, I've been running:
An iMac Intel Core 2 Duo 17" (late 2006). The guts of it all OEM: 1 GB (2x512) RAM, 250 GB HD, SuperDrive.
A 500 GB LaCie USB 2.0 External HD.
Two external optical drives; one that can read/burn CDs and one that can read//burn DVDs/CDs. Both of these are connected via FireWire
Operating system: Mac OS 10.4.x
Network: Wireless Airport on iMac to DLink wireless router to Sympatico DSL. Using OpenDNS
Over the last few weeks, system performance (and by this, I mean basic tasks like copying a file or selecting a menu option or switching between apps) has degraded to the point where it could take several seconds simply switching from one app to another. No new software or devices were added over this time.
Running Apple's Hard Disk Utility, I discovered some "Minor" problems on the internal hard drive. I booted up in safe mode, which automatically forces a disk repair, and, upon running disk utility again, the disk appears fine.
Performance problems persisted.
I ran disk utility on the external drive. No problems.
Earlier this week, I decided to upgrade the OS.
The upgrade took 5+ hours to install. (I'd heard it can take a while but 5 hours seems silly).
Performance problems persisted.
Last night, I loaded everything I needed on the internal drive and backed up to the external drive. THen I proceeded to do a clean install of the OS 10.5.6. I ran Software Update to get the latest Java machine and other updates.
Still got problems. (Copying 2 GB of files I'd backed up on my external drive back to the internal drive took more than 2 hours! via USB 2.0)
Ran Hard Disk Utility again. Everything's fine. Still have performance problems.
Shut power down on all external drives and re-booted.
Ah-ha! Now we're gettin' somewhere. Performance seems normal. System is responding to basic commands in the what seems like a normal way.
But I need those external drives. First bright idea: Perhaps it's the cheap Dyntech 5-port USB hub that's gumming things up. To test, I disconnected the hub and connected the LaCie external drive directly to the iMac.
Back to the same old problem.
Ok -- so it seems pretty clear that the iMac and the LaCie drive, which once got along famously, are now like an old married couple -- grumpy and slow to respond to each other's requests. Again -- neither the LaCie drive nor the iMac internal drive report any problems via Hard Disk Utility. Files are being successfully copied back and forth albeit at a mind-numbingly slow speed. But for all intents and purposes, so long as the iMac is attached to the LaCie drive, it has all the zip and functional usefulness of my old Centris 610.
Any and all suggestions gratefully welcomed.True unless you frequently attach and detach the drive so that indexing never is completed. To see if this may be the case with the drive attached, open Spotlight preferences, click on the Privacy tab, then drag the drive's icon into the list.
You can also try a few other things, but start by downloading and installing AppleJack - VersionTracker or MacUpdate. Read instructions and run the program to do some cleanup. For other maintenance tips see:
Kappy's Personal Suggestions for OS X Maintenance
For disk repairs use Disk Utility. For situations DU cannot handle the best third-party utilities are: Disk Warrior; DW only fixes problems with the disk directory, but most disk problems are caused by directory corruption; Disk Warrior 4.x is now Intel Mac compatible. TechTool Pro provides additional repair options including file repair and recovery, system diagnostics, and disk defragmentation. TechTool Pro 4.5.1 or higher are Intel Mac compatible; Drive Genius is similar to TechTool Pro in terms of the various repair services provided. Versions 1.5.1 or later are Intel Mac compatible.
OS X performs certain maintenance functions that are scheduled to occur on a daily, weekly, or monthly period. The maintenance scripts run in the early AM only if the computer is turned on 24/7 (no sleep.) If this isn't the case, then an excellent solution is to download and install a shareware utility such as Macaroni, JAW PseudoAnacron, or Anacron that will automate the maintenance activity regardless of whether the computer is turned off or asleep. Dependence upon third-party utilities to run the periodic maintenance scripts had been significantly reduced in Tiger and Leopard.
OS X automatically defrags files less than 20 MBs in size, so unless you have a disk full of very large files there's little need for defragmenting the hard drive. As for virus protection there are few if any such animals affecting OS X. You can protect the computer easily using the freeware Open Source virus protection software ClamXAV. Personally I would avoid most commercial anti-virus software because of their potential for causing problems.
I would also recommend downloading the shareware utility TinkerTool System that you can use for periodic maintenance such as removing old logfiles and archives, clearing caches, etc.
For emergency repairs install the freeware utility Applejack. If you cannot start up in OS X, you may be able to start in single-user mode from which you can run Applejack to do a whole set of repair and maintenance routines from the commandline. Note that AppleJack 1.5 is required for Leopard.
When you install any new system software or updates be sure to repair the hard drive and permissions beforehand. I also recommend booting into safe mode before doing system software updates.
Get an external Firewire drive at least equal in size to the internal hard drive and make (and maintain) a bootable clone/backup. You can make a bootable clone using the Restore option of Disk Utility. You can also make and maintain clones with good backup software. My personal recommendations are (order is not significant):
1. Retrospect Desktop (Commercial - not yet universal binary)
2. Synchronize! Pro X (Commercial)
3. Synk (Backup, Standard, or Pro)
4. Deja Vu (Shareware)
5. Carbon Copy Cloner (Donationware)
6. SuperDuper! (Commercial)
7. Intego Personal Backup (Commercial)
8. Data Backup (Commercial)
9. SilverKeeper 2.0 (Freeware)
10. MimMac (Commercial)
11. CloneTool Hatchery (Shareware)
12. Clone X (Commercial)
The following utilities can also be used for backup, but cannot create bootable clones:
1. Backup (requires a .Mac account with Apple both to get the software and to use it.)
2. Toast
3. Impression
4. arRSync
Apple's Backup is a full backup tool capable of also backing up across multiple media such as CD/DVD. However, it cannot create bootable backups. It is primarily an "archiving" utility as are the other two.
Impression and Toast are disk image based backups, only. Particularly useful if you need to backup to CD/DVD across multiple media.
Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQs on maintenance, optimization, virus protection, and backup and restore.
Additional suggestions will be found in Mac Maintenance Quick Assist.

Influence about system performance by RAL, SAL
Hi, Experts.
My team are going to use RAL(Read Access Log) and SAL(Security Audit Log)
for logging users access to sensitive data.
To meet the compliance, we have to log users' activity information
as 5W1H(WHO, WHAT, HOW, WHEN, WHERE, WHY) principle.
But I want to know that how much will system performance be affected by applying RAL and SAL.
Are there anyone who have the data or experience about that?
I understand it can be different by the level of log detail.
Best Regards.
Dongki.Hi,
I have been through measurement exercises in the past for SAL and have found no measurable performance influences. The only factor we could measure was log growth (which is very dependent on what you are logging) and that is arguably storage rather than performance related.
I can't say I have looked at RAL from a performance perspective yet so am also interested in hearing any answers to this.

Will my graphics card affect the performance of Flash Professional on my computer?
Hello everyone,
I want to know if the graphics card in a computer affects the performance of Flash Professional. Or if I am going to experience any issues with computer such as lag or errors. I want to use a computer that has an hd 4600 graphics card with and i5 dual core processor. Will this be more than enough or should I opt for a i5 quadcore with an intel iris?Hi LaangDao,

Classification data organization and system performance
We are planning on setting up classification for the material master. Reviewing discussions on the topic indicate the potential for system performance issues with search response and file sizes. Performance is dependent on several factors such as the number of material numbers, classes and characteristics, use of interval values, depth of hierarchies ect.
We have a significant number of material numbers, looking to have at least 15 classes with about 200 total characteristics. The extent of superior class linkage is undetermined at this time.
I am looking for a guideline or tool that would help us understand if our design is efficient or will lead to long term performance issues. Is there a resource or documentation that gives some examples of situatinos where classification got our of hand and why?
Thank you
BrianHello Brian,
There is no document or guidlines as such however you should keep the tables upto date . Also we recommend to use CLST for updating statistics regularly. Are you looking to assign 15 classes for material ? It should not affect the performance as much but you should keep characteristics to minimal in that case. Also are you using VC as there are lot of recommendations for VC but in general for classification keeping the stats upto date is most important.
Thanks

Do the enhancements affect the performance even if they are blank?
I means that SAP has preserved so many user exit for developer to do enhancement, is it has effect to system performance even though we didn't implement them? because the system must always check if there is implemented enhancements.
Moderator Message: Moved from ABAP General as the Performance Experts are here.
Edited by: kishan P on Aug 31, 2010 12:18 PMNo, enhancements doesn't affect the performance at all.
It's true that there are a huge amount of enhancements, but to check every one for your current process doesn't affect. You don't do a lot of access to database in order to check every enhancement. -
Conky affects video performance while refreshig itself?
Hi,
today I've installed conky and configured it to run with some basic configuration fond here http://conky.sourceforge.net/screenshots.html.
Happy with new fancy stuff installed on my system I've ran VLC to watch some movie. Unfortunately it came out that conky - while refreshing itself - affects video performance really badly. So badly that some stuttering on VLC is visible. In other words playback is no more smooth.
But just to have a proof I checked glxgears. Having conky turned on I had something like 40 FPS less (lack of smooth animation every time conky was refreshing its status was also easy to notice).
So - is just mine configuration broken or it's conky's fault? I don't believe that no one noticed this problem before.
I have nVidia Quadro NVS 140M and using nvidia-304xx drivers.
Last edited by jakub (2014-11-03 23:58:30)that shouldn't happen, unless maybe if you ran it on really slow system with no gfx acceleration whatsoever.
Or if you were running some heavy script every time conky refreshes.
It might be a good idea to post the actual config you're using.. -
OS X 10.4.4 DOWNLOAD HANGING AT "Optimizing System Performance" STAGE
I began downloading 10.4.4 update about 1.5 hours ago; most of the download executed fairly quickly--within 10 minutes. But then the download got to the "Optimizing System Performance" stage, and has been hanging in it ever since. It's accompanied by the spinning beach ball.
Is this common, or at least normal?
If not, what should I do? How long should I wait? I don't know if I can even get my iBook to force quit at this stage.
thanks in advance for your help.
T.W.Timothy,
What you are experiencing is not common or normal, but can hopefully be rectified.
According to iBook: If the Computer Won't Respond you can Force Quit by holding the power button for several seconds.
Restart from the Tiger Installation CD and run the Disk Utility as directed in the Try Disk Utility paragraph of Using Disk Utility and fsck to resolve startup issues or perform disk maintenance.
Next, attempt a normal startup of your computer.
Mac OS X: Troubleshooting installation and software updates says this about optimization failures:
Installation fails during "optimization"
If the installation fails during "optimization," all of the software was installed. There is no risk of an "incomplete installation." The optimization phase of an installation only affects performance and not stability or features. You may force optimization to be repeated by reinstalling the software. If you were using the Software Update pane of System Preferences on the first attempt, you will need to download the standalone installer of the same software from Apple Downloads in order to reinstall the software.;~) -
This particular ad, supposedly from a Windows Certified Partner, opens in a second Firefox window and keeps flashing the message that my System Performance is Poor, wanting me to click on their ad and let them do whatever nasty things they want to my system. I have not been able to capture the path but next time it comes up, I will write down all that I can see.
If I have closed my main Firefox screen first, and then close out this ad, the next time I open Firefox, the ad opens and all my standard tabs are gone, requiring me to reopen each one seperately (Facebook, Google, etc).Just to address the last point: check your History menu to see whether you have the Restore Previous Session option and use that if you can. If that is grayed out or doesn't restore everything, check the Recently Closed Windows and Recently Closed Tabs lists for other pages.
The unwanted window may be generated by an add-on. Try disabling ALL nonessential or unrecognized extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:
* Ctrl+Shift+a
* "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then, if in doubt, disable.
Usually a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.
Any improvement?
Here are some other things to check:
(1) user.js file that changes Firefox startup behavior and overrides your preferences. This article describes how to track that down and delete it if you have one: [[How to fix preferences that won't save]].
(2) Possible hijacked shortcut. Check the "target" of the desktop icon you use to start Firefox to see whether it lists the unwanted page. To do that:
right-click the icon > Properties > Shortcut tab
For 64-bit Windows 7, the Target should be no more and no less than this:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe"
(3) Possible undisclosed bundle items. If you have installed any free software recently, check your Windows Control Panel, Uninstall a program for surprises. If you click the "Installed on" column head to group by date, it is easier to spot bundled junk. Remove everything suspicious or unrecognized.
(4) Supplemental clean up scans. Our support article lists tools other Firefox users have found helpful: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware]].
Hopefully that cures it. -

But you cannot seriously expect someone on this forum to spend his/her time and review such a long program. For this people are normally getting paid, you know. -
Slow System Performance after binding Machine to OD
Hello,
I've recently installed Leopard Server using standard configuration. I bound two machines to test and I noticed immediately that I took a performance hit speed wise just doing regular stuff like opening applications and browsing internet takes longer than usual for some reason now they use to pop instantly prior to binding to Server. So I broke the connection to see if the server was causing the lag but both machines for some reason now continue to lag. Does the server alter the client in some way that affects its performance? and why does it still affect the machine after the connection is broke? Any input is appreciated.Just binding a client to an OD server shouldn't make any noticeable difference in speed, assuming that the network is set up correctly. Network homes certainly will slow you down compared to local homes.
