An infosource under TR!

Hi,friends here.
I find out there is an infosource(7.0) under my TR after installing an cube from business content,but I think if using DTP then no need to assign an infosource with TR,so what's the problem?

Hi Nice Day,
Most of the Data loadding flows in BC are based on BW3.5 even you installed it in BI7.0. So this is the reason why you can see the infosource before TR.
If you do not want to use infosource or just want use DTP, you can migrate the DS from 3.5 to BI7.0

RSA1 infosources under wrong SID after system copy and BDLS has run

Hi we are a BW3.5 SP#21 system on 10202 and hpux 11.23 (ia64). We have an R/3 system connected to the BW system for extracts. Extracts work fine in the productive environment. So 1 production BW system, and 1 production R/3 system. We also have sandbox copies of each made from database copies recently. The environment is as follows:
sid     client     current logical system name     original logical system name after "copy"     system role
BW1     100     FINPBW1100     --     Productive BW system
LH1     100     FINPLH1100     --     Productive R/3 system
LHU     100     FINPLHU100     FINPBW1100     sandbox BW system
LHI     100     FINPLHI100     FINPLH1100     sandbox R/3 system
LHU is a copy of BW1. LHI is a copy of LH1. There is only 1 working client in all systems.
We recently did the copies, creating the LHU/LHI systems. we've completed our "post refresh" checklist on LHU/LHI, including the BDLS work.
BDLS was ran as follows on LHU/100:
>> convert FINPBW1100  FINPLHU100
>> convert FINPLH1100  FINPLHI100
BDLS was ran as follows on LHI/100:
>> convert FINPBW1100  FINPLHU100
>> convert FINPLH1100  FINPLHI100
In RSA1 on sandbox LHU/100, in the "source system" area, the source systems to the sandbox R/3 system LHI/100 tests out ok if you do the check connection and the technical name for the sm59 it points to is correct.
If I check the RSA1 --> Infosources though, and search for LHI.it doesn't find all the "expected" infosources/infopackages.
If instead I search for LH1 it finds the whole list of "expected" infosources/infopackages. But the R/3 system i'm trying to do extracts from is called "LHI" not "LH1".
QUESTION:
does anyone know what needs to happen to convert what we see in RSA1 --> Infosources when searching for LH1 to infosources that we can use which point to LHI it looks like all the data is there in RSA1 -->infosources, it just is under the wrong sid.thanks in advance

That link is to the document that I followed when setting up a BWQ system new, and we didn't encounter the same problem that you are experiencing. We are also BW 3.5.
I started on Page 17 which is where Section 3.7 starts.
Hopefully that might help, although that may have been what you were following.

Create InfoSource between two InfoCubes

Hi
I'm using a Transformation to transfer data from IC source to IC target.
But I want to divide it in two steps:
- first Transformation from IC source to InfoSource
- then Transformation from InfoSource to IC target.
Can someone help me how to create the InfoSource ???

OK, I discovered how to do it.
It´s quite easy (everything we understand becomes easy ...), I'll detail it here, if someone needs.
You go to InfoSources, under Modeling, select the correct Application Component, right click Create InfoSource.
Then define the IC target as the Model.
After that create a Transformation from IC source to the InfoSource,
then another Transformation from the InfoSource to IC target.
Finally a DTP from IC source to IC target.
Hope it helps people who have the same doubt.

Infosource 0MATL_GRP_1, 0MATL_GRP_2 not visible

Hi,
I have Infosources 0MATL_GRP_1, 0MATL_GRP_2 in BW Development system. I have tested them and transported them along with the corresponding datasources into BW Quality system.I can see the 0MATL_GRP_1, 0MATL_GRP_2 Datasources in the Source System->Datasource Overview with the status showing as 'Infosource assigned'
However I am not able to see the 0MATL_GRP_1, 0MATL_GRP_2 infosources under the Infosources tab at all.
What can be the reason???

Hi,
after the transport, did you restart the workbench? If not, do so via /nrsa1. Another reason might be, that the application component to which the objects are assigned is not active in your target system.

How to debug start routines of update rules from ODS to InfoCube

Dear gurus,
I have an update rule from ODS to InfoCube. I wrote a start routine in the update rule. Now I want to debug it. I went to monitor and simulate update the data package and only got the prompt "No data exists in the corresponding PSA table". So how can I debug this start routine?

Jin,
In order to use PSA between ODS and InfoCube, you may have to use an exclusive InfoPackage and load separately. In that InfoPackage, choose the radio button to use a PSA.
I think you are currently updating the InfoCube directly without using a separate InfoPackage.
Look for an InfoSource under DataMarts (search for 8<ODS Technical name>) and create your InfoPackage there.

Step 1. Select Source systems under Modelling in the left panel. In the right panel, right-click Source systems and select Createu2026.
Step 2. Select the FileSystem, manual meta data, data using file inte option, and then click to continue.
Step 3. Enter a name and a description for the source system, and then click to create the source system.
Now create an application component
Step 1. Select InfoSources under Modelling in the left panel. In the right panel, right-click InfoSources and select Create application componentu2026.
Step 2. Enter a name and a description for the application component, and then click to continue. (BW automatically adds a prefix of "Z" to the technical names of application components, unlike the naming system used for other BW objects.If u give the name as AC_DEMO it will be saved as ZAC_DEMO in the system.
Now create infosource
Step 1.Select InfoSources under Modelling in the left panel. Right-click the newly created Application Component , and then select Create InfoSourceu2026.
Step 2. Select the option Master data/texts/hierarchies, and then click to continue.
Step 3. Enter your infoobject name, and then click to continue.
Now you will be asked
Infosource(name) assigned to Appln component(name)?
Click continue
Now go back to workbench and see the Infoobject listed under the Application component name (under Infosource)
Right click the infoobject name and select Assign Datasource
Enter the Infoobject name as Infosource name and the source system name and continue
Now you ll get datasource assignment confirmations for Infosource_ATTR and Infosource_TEXT for master data and text.
Click yes and continue
Now you ll be taken to the Infosource(master data) change screen
Source system name will be given
Below that u need to give the datasource name u2026.._ATTR
Click Activate.
Now Click the tab transfer rules
Copy the communication str infoobject names to an excel sheet
For ex if your infoobj are IO_MATNUM and IO_MATNAME (material number and material name) copy and paste as
IO_MATNUM      IO_MATNAME
MAT001     TEA
MAT002     COFFEE
MAT003     SUGAR
GIVE YOUR DATA IN THE EXCEL. AND CLICK File Save As CSV(comma delimited) and save to ur system. Give file name as something like infosourcename_ATTR.csv
Now back to the Infosourcechange screen
Source system name will be given
Below that u need to give the datasource name u2026.._TEXT
And activate
Now Click the tab transfer rules
Copy the communication str infoobject names to an excel sheet
GIVE YOUR DATA IN THE EXCEL. AND CLICK File Save As CSV(comma delimited) and save to ur system. Give file name as something like infosourcename_TEXT.csv

How to check the Datasource name for Virtual cube

Hello Experts,
I have a report which is built on one multiproviider for which we are getting balance sheet data reporting on company code,enduser told us that he wanted to see the data on plant level...
The problem here is that I have checked the data flow for the multiprovider,It is showing as getting data from virtual cube.
So,from there It is not showing the datasource and infosource under it(under virtual cube)..so how can I check the datasource name for it,so that I can go and enhance the datasource in case the plant(WERKS) is not there

Hi Friend,
go virtual cube lavel and see the data flow with "downward & upward" option in RSA1
Go to RSA1
Select the Virtual cube> right click > display data flow> select "downward & upward"

here r the step to load transation data from a flat file.......
step:1 create a Flat File.
step:2 log on to sap bw (t.code : rsa1 or rsa13).
and observe the flat file source system icon. i.e pc icon.
step:3 create required info objects.
3.1: create infoarea
     (infoObjects Under Modeling > infoObjects (root node)-> context menu -
> create infoarea).
3.2: create char /keyfig infoObject Catalog.(select infoArea ---.context menu --->create infoObject catalog).
3.3:   create char.. infoObj and keyFig infoObjects accourding to ur requirement and activate them.
step:4 create infoSource for transaction data and create transfer structure and maintain communication structure...
    4.1: first create a application component.(select InfoSources Under modeling-->infosources<root node>>context menu-->create applic...component)

Hi Sabrina...thank you for ur help...i did load the data from cube to ods
steps.
1. i generated export data source on the cube
2. i found the name of the cube with prefix 8<infocube name> in the infosource under DM application component.
3. there are already communication structure and transfer rules activated but when i am creating update rules for the ods..i am getting the message 0recordmode missing in the infosource.
4. so i went to infosource and added 0recordmode in communication structure and activated but the transfer rules in yellow colour..there was no object assigned to 0recordmode but still i activated.
5.again i went to ods and created update rules and activated (tis time i didnt get any message about 0recordmode).
6.i created infopackage and loaded.
a)Now my question is without green signal in the transfer rule how data populated into the ods and in your answer you mentioned to create communication structure and transfer rules where in i didnt do anything.
b) will i b facing any problem if i keep loading the data into the ods from cube (in yellow signal) ..is it a correct procedure..plz correct me..thanks in advance

Update rules for infocube

hi all,
i am new to SAP BIW. i am trying to extract transaction data. i have assigned my data source to a certain structure in SAP DR3 500 client. this structure is also replicated in the source sysytems of the BW client. however, when i go to create update rules, it asks me for an infosource. then when i give my data source as my entry, it says that 'the name of my data source is not maintained.
can you please suggest how to maintain an infosource in such a case???

i think u know that the steps to be followed?
please follow this steps:
1) replicate the data source( in ur case, replication is already done)
2) create application component and create infosource under application component and give your infoobjects and activate your communication structure.
select infosource 3.x, if you are using older versions
3) right click on infosource, create transfer rules in that map the objects and activate transfer rules.
if you want to write transfer routine for a particular info object, you write accordingly.
4)go to ur datatarget(ODS or Infocube) rightclick you will find additional functions, create update rules.
there you can create ur update rules and activate

Hi Aarthi,
1. You will need to replicate your datasource into BW.
2. Assign the datasource to an InfoSource and activate the transfer rules.
3. If you are doing flexible updates then you need to have update rules from this InfoSource to your InfoObject to which you want to load this data.
4. Create an InfoPackage in RSA1 > Modeling > InfoSources, under the InfoSource to which you assigned the datasource.
5. Make any selections for data is reqd and select if this will be a full or init load.
6. Execute (Start the load) and check the data load monitor (F6 in the InfoPackag) to see if the data laod is going on smoothly.
7. After the load is complete, activate the master data.

Customised Datasource not able to find in Sourcce System

I have assigned InfoSource to all dataSource masterdata objects (SAP defined)
Now I need to assign few customised msterdata objects,
While assigning i am not able to find datasource in source system.
For Eg:
ZI_OPGRP_TEXT                  operating group text
ZI_BUSUNT_TEXT                 Business Unit Text
ZEMPLOYEE_9005_ATTR            Legacy Sales Organizational

Customized datasource which were missing:
ZJOB_ATTR ,ZI_OPGRP_TEXT ,ZI_BUSUNT_TEXT ,ZEMPLOYEE_9005_ATTR,ZEMPLOYEE_9000_ATTR
As you said i checked in RSA6, Customized Datasource are available, then I came to BW side and replicated Datasource, Now I am able to find below and assigned to infpsource:
ZI_BUSUNT_TEXT ,ZI_OPGRP_TEXT
But I did not find rest of the datasources which i have mentioned above.When I look for these datasources in R/3 system.
Under Modelling > Source system>right click on source system> Display datasource tree> There I am able to find missing datasources, But when I goto Infosource under modelling and try to assign to datasource, I dont find them there.
Please tell me what is the resolution for this.

Go to transport connection select the infosources under it...select objects there select ur infoaource u want to transport-there is an option tpo change the paskage if u want...assign a new request..once the new request is aassigned...then go to SE10 and then release the request. Now its ready for transport.Normally after releasing the request the Basis guys transport the request.

Check the datasource in RSA2 in source system.
If you know the Extract Structure -- check in SE11
[www.help.sap.com] would be the best source to check, for particular datasource, origin tables will be given in website.

Can not see ODS infosource in the system

Hello,
I am unable to see Infosource of my ODS under the infosources tree. This is only happening in DEV and PROD. In QA system i could see it and also create additional infopackages.
The bottom line is I want to be able to create extra Infopackages under it other than what system creates.
Is there any setting i have to do or any ideas?

Do you mean export data source one's 8*...
go to rsa12... settings-- display generated objects -- click on radio buton show ods generated objects and hit the arrow key..
