An interactive dialogue box appears. How do I get rid of this invader? I don't know what it is & don't want to open it. Is there a way to find out what it is without letting an intruder in?

I believe I'm using the latest Firefox. I download it whenever you tell me it's available. I have Windows Vista. This box appears in the desktop area (which MSN seems to have redesigned from the way I had it). This seems like a boarder which hops on to my computer after I do a search on Yahoo, but I don't really know where it comes from, what it is, or what it's doing.
One time you showed me a box which let me get rid of cookies. I don't know how to call that box back, but I'd like to

Simply stop using Safari and set your default browser to be Firefox.
I strongly advise you to NOT delete it as subsequent updates (e.g. 10.5.7 assuming Apple release that) will still try and update Safari regardless of whether you removed it or not.
There's no problem with having more than one browser present on your system (I think I have about 6 )

Start up Log In screen (box) shows "Other", how can I get rid of this user.

Are you getting that anytime you visit a page? Or after you hit the 'refresh', 'back' or 'forward' button?
This error is not usually an error telling you that anything is broken, it's warning you that you are re-doing something you have already done. Perhaps you are loading a template that has a text block already on it.
You might try the blank template option and set that as your go to template in your preferences

Now some of my pdf files have greyed-out blocks obscuring the text (which I imagine is being hidden by the blocks). In some cases the whole document is illegible. What has happened? Don't know what the problem was, but it disappeared after uninstalling the programme and re-installing it.
