To fix a wonky horizon... New tool?
Hey guys,
Photoshop as it stands is an excellent tool for design, retouching etc, but may I suggest a new tool that could help us people who love to create panoramas?
A wonky horizon tool is what we need!
Not all horizons from panoramas end up straight, curved or just up down wonky. But a tool that is a mix between the Pen Tool and Crop Ruler, would do the trick. i.e. you use the Pen Tool to draw along the wonky horizon, click 'straighten' and voila! Horizon is now straight.
Would this be possible in the realms of Photoshop? Would save many hours of headaches when PS doesn't Photomerge correctly.I use CC and LR5 (full CC suite) and no, those ONLY straghten the straights and is more one dimensionsal (apart from profile corrections).
What I'm after is a tool that will straghten 'squiggly'lines.
EDIT: the closest thing to this is the Adaptive Wide Angle Filter, but that just ruins it. Can also use Puppet Warp, but again, quite restrictive.
Like in this image, no tool that I can find will fix this with ease, just a heap of warping will get it done, but degrades the final image: -

I believe the new set of R3trans, tp, R3load tools in /usr/sap/put/exe are unable to connect to the database, while the current set of tools in /usr/sap/<SID>exe/run are working fine.

Please guide. What problems should i anticipate in the PREPARE phase when it builds shadow instance.

PS CS6 new tool for correcting converging verticals
Hello,
I came across a new tool in PS CS6, which has been introduced in this new version that can be used to correct converging verticals. I used it a couple of times in the past and now forgot its name and how to access it.
Basically it allows me to place lines on my picture that are supposed to be parallel and the tool them straightens out the picture intelligently without distorting it too much. It is ideal to correct edges of buildings that seem to converge.
I am familiar with Free Transform and basic Lens Correction filter, so I am pretty sure it was not one of these.
Please let me know if you can locate it.

ZeeKayIt is not the new crop tool either.
Basically if you have used Autopano Giga, it allows you to place vertical lines on the image, say on some building's vertical edges that are converging. It then manipulates the image to make the vertical lines straight, hence straightening the building.
I looked under all the menus at this point and it is really frustrating not to be able to find it.
Any help will be appreciated.

Can I say one thing? The design of 3D is too confused!!! I know the drawing 3D and this new tools in Photoshop aren't simple, it's too difficult to understand
Photoshop's GUI for the 3d functionality has always been a bit of a bust. And slow, cumbersome, hard to control. Rendering quality remains a major headache (and slow as a snail crawling through mud). Texturing is a hassle, and the 3d viewport one of the worst implementations I have ever encountered.
Which is why I have always avoided it, and I prefer 3d applications such as Blender, Cinema4d, Max, Lightwave, and so on, for quality work. The 3d functionality in Photoshop is adequate for relatively simple 3d typography, and simple shapes. But even for that type of work I avoided Photoshop. -

Well, it looks like a source code translation, but far away from something automatic. But who wants this? Probably people that don't know Java and come from VB world, trying to stole code. Who would buy this? Well, now it comes with C# distribution then it's free, but I am sure it would be attractive to those people that buy methodologies, case tools and so. People that don't trust on their programmers or didn't get good ones. Who cares... :) -
Requirement: New tool to migrate attachments within KM repository

I need to write a new migration tool to migrate atttachments in KM.(NW
04s SP10) I will give you an example
Currently the attachments are stored as follows
/documents/cprxrpm/<portfolio guid>/Item/<item guid>/abc.txt
or
/documents/cprxrpm/<portfolio guid>/Element/<item guid>/ccc.txt
The problem with the above was that there was language dependent text in the above url (Item in English and Element in German). So the above 2 attachments will have to be moved to
/documents/cprxrpm/<portfolio guid>/RIH/<item guid>/ccc.txt
/documents/cprxrpm/<portfolio guid>/RIH/<item guid>/abc.txt
And the folders from which the attachment is migrated will have to be
deleted. The whole path. Since all the attachments are attached at the
end of the path.
I know such a thing be done using KM API's. There are 100's of such attachments lying in various language dependent paths to be moved to the language independent folder.
Can someboby point me to the right API's and some sample code which must be already existing?
Also can this be a webdypro dc or will this have to be a EP dc?

This is a 1 time task. But as i explained i have to write some programming logic to move the files and ship it to the customer.
Customer will have a button on a iView like migrate and this program should be called where in i have to loop over all the content, check if there are attachments and move the same to the language independent path

This has to happen within the same repository. Just that attachment s have to be moved from one folder stucture to another.

NEW TOOLS & FEATURES: Suggestions
Below a few low-cost but potentially useful tools and features that you could consider for the next big update in Q2 (feel free to add any other ideas):
(1) Menu Button vs. Recent Apps Button
Mostly in the EMEA we are used to have a dedicated "Recent Apps Button" rather than a "Menu Button", which is also the case with Nexus phones, Sony, etc. I know that you can long-hold "Menu Button" to go to recent apps, but as I multitask quite often I would prefer the functionality to be the other way around. Click for "Recent Apps" and long hold for "Menu Button". Luckily this is onyl a software issues. A button to switch between these two options would take less than a day to program into the UI. Extremely low cost new feature for the VIBE UI and it would make several users happy. (I know that you can swipe up or double tap the screen, thanks for that, but when my screen is full of apps from top to bottom, it is difficult to find any space for a double tap somewhere.).
(2) Magnifying Glass (and a Mirror)
Recently, I was testing the latest Emotion UI. I was surprised to find out that they have under "TOOLS" a "Magnifying Glass" app and a "Mirror" app. As dumb as that sounds, I found them both extremely useful and efficient. You could magnify anything under the phone using the camera app, but this takes a lot of resources and a long time -> you need to open the camera app, switch to rear facing camera, then click on the screen to focus on close objects, then with two fingers zoom to 3x to see your "broken nail" or "small text" magnifcied. In Emotion UI I could just do it in one click via the app. (The Mirror app also seemed handy, as it did not suck all the resources of a selfie camera and you could adjust your hair in one click before that important date.)
(3) Brightness level (or profiles)
Brightness level on Vibe UI is continuous. As I like to use 25% during the night, and 75% during the day, I am always switching it up and down twice a day at least. However, since there is just the continuous bar I don't know what the brightness is. So when I want get 25%, I get one day 16% other day 34% next day 22%, every day at different brightness - hardly a seamless experience. I would personally prefer to see a number next to the brightness bar to set the brightness exactly to any number (and be allowed to switch between few brightness profiles e.g. night mode or day mode or evening mode). There are third party apps for this, but it would be better to have that integrated in Vibe UI. I also liked the "warmer color for the screen" at night in Lenovo Z2, but sadly in Lenovo S90 the options seems missing.
(4) Recent apps screen
As neat as the recent apps screen is, it only uses 1/3 of the entire screen. It packs 3 features "Clear Memory", "Favorite Apps", and "Recent apps" in that small portion of the screen. Maybe some smart re-arranging would allow to use the space even better. Potentially moving the "clear memory" option (and potentially adding some other stats to it) or the "favorite apps" option towards the upper part of the screen would allow to have a bit more space for recent apps at the bottom. But there are also other way of re-arranging this. One could also imagine having the upper part of the screen switching between "clear memorry & stats" and "favorite apps" by a click at "start" or a "broom" or just text toggels. I think not many users know that the options for favorite apps even exist at the moment (good idea by Lenovo).
(5) Stock Android L Option
This is an obvious one, requested a couple of times, and this fuctionality is already available in K920. K920 has received fantastic reviews for this in my view. Many people who are still a bit sceptical about Vibe UI in ROW would be willing to buy the phone because it runs the Stock Android L. This is also great for powerusers and developers. It does not incure cost, as it is already developed for K920 and has a potential to atract even more buyers. The Lenovo strategy in EMEA and Rest of Asia seems to be to grow the market share quickly and Stock Android L option would help this cause for now. As with the current implementation all Lenovo apps would stay active in the Stock Android anyway. Btw. with Stock UI running on the phone, those users who really need an app drawer would be satisfied as well, but I still expect most of the Stock Android users to switch to Vibe UI after they get used to it and understand its advantages.

At least on this S90, the home screen and all the other desktop screens with apps do not rotate to landscape. I just saw that iOS rotates home screen on phones and the apps to the landscape mode, but I am not sure how easy or difficult this would be in android that also includes widgets. But again it would be a pretty neat feature that one could enable or disable in the Features or in the Desktop Settings if apps could rotate to landscape. For instance, I sometimes use the phone on a tri-pad for skype calls, camera, or just generally as a phone holder, so in that case it would make sense for me if at least the apps would rotate to landscape (generally speaking the widgets don't need to do that, as I think that might pose some implementation challenges). -
Flash extension, new tool, need help

I am developing a Tool, and I've run into a wall. unlike the PolyStar example it doesn't draw a new shape. instead it modifies a selected graphic's start frame, as the mouse is clicked and dragged.
CS3 works flawlessly, the graphic updates while the mouse is being dragged.
CS4 & CS5 does not update while the mouse is being dragged.
I have scoured what documentation I have, and so far I have not found the magic ju-ju for updating the scene During the tools mouseMoved() function. the documentation seems to be ignoring this case.
can some Guru shed some light on this? how do I cause the document to redraw whats currenlty on the screen?
or at least tell a graphics to redraw?

I have recently run into a new problem. It started a week ago with a couple of letters on the keyboard not responding when pressed, which I attributed to dirt or a straight malfunction in the keyboard. Nothing interesting there, but it gets better.
A few days without the letter "a" and I am trying to call someone from the contacts, so I start typing and hit the key to enter the letter "u." All of a sudden the maching is typing in a string of "w"s, which will continue until I hit the back arrow (or a functioning key). Okay, it will go for at least 25 characters at which point my patience runs out. That was odd. I try a few more keys and get some interesting results, now "t," "y" and "u" cause the machine to enter "w" until stopped. So, hit the "t" key and the machine imputs "wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww ..." The "w" key actually results in "ippppppp ...."
I tried a soft reset with no success, so I resorted to a hard reset. No results, other than what the machine enters has changed, so pushing the "u" key resulted in "222222222 ...." an the other keys likewise went nuts in a new and unusual way. Another hard reset, and I have a completely new set of useless gibberish being put down (I have tried typing in SMS, the phone contacts selector, a word file, and the server name box (It is a corporate phone), with no difference in output).
One other observation. The problem keys seem to be on the top row of the keyboard from Q through I (o and p have not been problematic) and the "a" and "s" keys on the second row, which tend to just function or not function ("Q" also seems to follow that trend).
Does anyone have any suggestions?
