An open lock icon during receiving/dialling

Hi,
I am getting this weird icon, whenever i call/receive from my nokia n97 mini (my sim especially), i see an open lock icon right above the caller's name. Any idea? Think & heard that my line is being monitored, is it true? thats why there's an open lock icon whenever i receive/call anyone? I put my sim on my friend's mobile but nothing happened, we exchanged sims in mobiles but nothing happened, only when i use my line & mobile together.
What is this icon? I really need to know this, and how do i know if my line is being monitored or not? Any special diagnoses or indications?

I don't know if your staff will make you aware of my open letter to you or not, however I am willing to take that risk and directly write to you. I chose this venue because I don’t want to waste time debating with HP support staff. I already made contact with HP describing my issue with the Laptop I bought for my daughter about three years ago. Unfortunately I was told they could not help me with my issue. My service tag number is 803757473. As I mentioned, I bought my daughter’s laptop May 2007 and the mother board died 2 month ago. Some might think that the average life of a laptop is about three years. I beg to differ on the grounds that a motherboard should be seen as the engine of the laptop and should not die in a short amount of time. I know in due time any product begin to deteriorate little by little. That is expected. I am sure computers slowdown and so forth in due time too. But failure of the mother board is totally an acceptable to me.
Sir, if you truly stand behind your product, you will make this right. I don’t think I should pay to replace the mother board. I did a lot of reading on the internet regarding this particular model and I believe a lot of people who bought this model are very frustrated at HP. In fact a lot of people decided never to buy your products. Before I reach such a decision, I decided to write you an open letter, hopping you would resolve this issue.

Mail does not show lock icon on received, encrypted messages.

While sending an encrypted email message to my own account (exchange server), I've noticed since updating
to Mavericks, that the lock icon no longer exists within the header being displayed.
I have Mail set to classic view. It does display the email decrypted. If the classic view is switched
off, the message header indicates that the same email message has no content. THis is very odd.
The Mail help indicates the following:
A signed icon (a checkmark) appears in the header area of a signed message. To view the certificate details, click the icon.If the message was altered after it was signed, Mail displays a warning that it can’t verify the message signature.
A lock icon appears in the header area of an encrypted message. If you have your private key in your keychain, the message is decrypted for viewing. Otherwise, Mail indicates it can’t decrypt the message.
This does not appear to work as indicated for 10.9 or 10.9.1
(Mavericks is fully patched.)
In the previous version of OS, Mail implemented these functions just fine.
Is there a solution available to get these working again?

Yes, it happens to me in just one of the 4 accounts I have in the program.
But anyway, now my Mac is making some nosenses, like to show menus mixing english and spanish in the buttons, I can not change my desktop, and in fact not all pictures appear in the menu... the computer runs very slowly, fixing permissions cost around 20 minutes, a lot of small issues that are getting me very upset with Leopard.
But the big a real problem is the Mail, that is working very very bad, and this is my main tool for working.
Meanwhile I'm adquiring a bigger HD and more memory for my Mac, trying to give it more power, because for example in my 98 GB HD I just have 9 GB free.
I hope this will be fixed very soon, because it means a great hurt to my job.

Help! My account lock icon will not open?

I noticed recently that when trying to download apple updates that the account and password window would not open to allow the update to finish downloading. I checked system preferences and system accounts and the lock icon is closed and when clicked will not open. My correct Admin name is listed but I can't access Login Options. This is preventing all actions that need login verification (updates, time machine, downloads, etc.) I want to download Snow Leopard but will be blocked when login window does not open. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated as I've searched the discussions in vain on this problem. I am old and not the brightest bulb on the technical side.

Just wanted to post the solution to my problem as a number of people checked the discussion. My main problem was that in System Preferences the Padlock symbol would not unlock (authentication would not produce the needed login window to proceed). This was causing multiple problems (no downloads, updates, time machine, etc would function). Below is the discussion that I finally found that addressed the problem and the solution which was an Archive and Install from the OS 10.5 DVD. Hats off to (jevlewt and Bob Gold) from 2009 for getting me back on track.

Lock icon opens automatically on System Preferences Network window

The settings lock icon often is unlocked when I open the System Preferences > Network window.
I can click the lock icon and it locks without being prompted for a password.
This generally occurs right after logon.
How do I fix this problem?

Unable to open PSE icons in PSE9

I have PSE icons (JPG Files) in my Documents. I click on the file in "Documents>open>"file folder number">open" PSE 9 opens and I receive the message ("Could not complete your request because the file is locked. Use the 'Properties' command in the Windows Explorer to unlock the file.") When I try to open the same PSE icons, while PSE 9 is open, the message becomes ("Could not complete your request because of a program error.") How do you get to the 'Properties' command in the Windows Explorer? Also the file icons display as icons in the view column of Documents.

contents to secure data" I come to a dialogue box "Access Denied" "You will need

Cancel." all of which stop me in my tracks. I have a Dell System and, I am not
sure but, Dell may have some sort of prevention for me to go any further.
It may have something to do with the "Bit Blocker Drive Encryption".

As you can see, the original post, almost a year old already, received no replies. That is undoubtedly due to the total lack of details and the cryptic nature of the message.
I cannot imagine what this is all about. What presets? Where do you see this icon? In the application itself or when looking at the preset folder in your OS navigator (Apple's Finder, Win Explorer)? What does it look like, a padlock or a circle with a diagonal through it?
Please provide both a screen shot of the issue and some sensible information. We don't even know what your platform is Mac or windows.

System preference/sharing lock icon permissions

i would like to find a log of system preferences / sharing , that would show when the lock icon is becoming unlocked on its own.
the OS is up to date with current software updates.
when i do open system preference / sharing from the doc, sharing is unlocked.
this has happened many times.
now i keep system preference sharing or network in eyeball view during any session and off to the side so i can watch the lock icon. and the lock icon stays in a lock position. i have expereinced that if i close system preference and then re open some other time days, the lock icon would be open in sharing or network.
I have searched in console logs, yet i do not know precisly what key words or phrases or alphanumeric combo would or could id actions in system preferences or if i could actually find any hint of unlock action of and in system preferences in console. every other action detail is in there, so it seems.
what could i do.

Open the Security pane of System Preferences and check whether System Preferences is set to require a password to unlock each secure pane. If it's not, simply being logged in as an administrator will unlock all the panes except for Accounts.

I have tried a several times to repairing permissions, restarting the mac, relaunched Finder, but no difference.
I copied the download folder to the dock...there I can open the files, but not deleting them or copying them.
When I open finder, then I click on the folder Download, after a while of thinking, it throws me out and back to the desktop.
already tried to sign in with the guest user account, then I am able to open the download folder.(but not seeing my files)
When I am trying to change the download folder in Safari, it also throws me out and gives me a error report ,for sending to Apple.
I think it's a settings fault or i think my download folder is locked. Almost desperat, already called support center,
They couldn't help, for free, due the 90 days free online help i have reached. If I want to solve this problem, they could try it , but it cost me almost 50 euros.
hope there is someone, who's knowing this problem.
By the way, I think it also could be that I dragged some downloaded music to the desktop, and dragged some folder that has the settings. Now its changed???
Or I was downloading something, and deleted the files in the download folder while it was unpacking and reparing the files.
It's not easy for a beginner Mac user (3 months) to already solve this problems.

This is a little confusing since you say you have forgotten your password and then the system says you have not entered a password. Even with an Admin account you must have a password to install software.
If you are using Mac OS X 10.7 or above, you can change the admin password by restarting holding the Command and R keys, from the menu bar select Utilities, then Terminal. When the Terminal window opens, at the cursor type exactly:
resetpassword
and press Enter. When the Reset Password window opens, select the internal hard drive, and then the user account. Type a new password twice, leave the Hint blank, and then Save. Accept the next dialog that opens, and at the bottom of the Reset Password window agree to resetting the home directory permissions.
Quit the Reset Password window, go to the apple left side of the menu bar, Restart.
And you have a new password for your account.

PDF form has lock icon and I'm unable to view my information entered

I've been working on a 127 page pdf form for a couple of weeks and have saved all of my information multiple times. I recently opened the document to complete the form(I literally had 2 entries left) and I am unable to view any of the information I've entered. The information is no doubt still there because the original form is 7mb, and my saved form is 7.26mb. I am also able to see all of my information when I preview the document by opening the my documents window and clicking once to preview the form in the same window, however can not see any of my information when I attempt to edit it and open the form completely. I am using a PC, windows 7. I'm assuming I can't view my info. because I somehow locked it but I am not asked for a password when I open it. I recently downloaded the original form again and typed in info. and there is no lock icon when I save it under a different name and I'm able to view the info. entered. I have no idea how I locked the form or if this is the reason I can't view the info. when I open the documetn completely. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

There's not much you can do at this point. If you changed the passcode since the last time you synced, or the computer you were syncing with is not available, then there's no way to bypass it. You're going to lose the information.

Pad - LOCK icon in Upper Right Corner of Screen - How did it get there??

When I start my Mac (G5-10.4.11) for the first time I have an icon of a pad-lock in the upper right hand corner of my screen and appears in the 'closed or locked' position. I don't know how it got there. I think it has something to do with 'Keychain' but not sure. When I open Entourage (2008) to check my email for the first time following a boot sequence, Entourage asks me for a keychain password and after entering the password, the pad-lock icon in the upper right corner now indicates an 'open' or unlocked condition. I don't have to do this again as long as my computer stays on. I've tried changing the access setting in Keychain to 'ignore' Entourage and Keychain but it still asks me for a keychain password following a re-boot. What did I do to get the pad-lock icon there in the first place? And, how can I turn OFF that 'pad-lock' and not appear on my startup screen? I have another hard drive in my computer that I boot from occasionally and the "pad-lock' icon does not appear on my startup screen and I can check Entourage without entering any keychain password. I really don't need password protection on my home computer, it's very annoying every time I check my Entourage email.

Check "Keep login keychain unlocked" in the "First Aid" tab of Keychain Access (Utilities folder).
In the "General" tab, uncheck "Show Status in Menu Bar".

IPhone locked up during io6 update

My nephews iphone4 seems to have locked up during his attempt to update to ios6. The only thing it shows is a pic of a plug going into the iTunes icon, tried plugging into a computer, nothing really happened. Turning it on and off doesn't do anything, any ideas?

Problem resolved While talking to the Apple rep he was going to have me force a restore. When I plugged the iPhone back in for about the 6th time the phone reactivated and eveything was fine. Not sure what happened but at least it's working.
