"An unknown error" has occurred in status report in project server 2013

Hi,
It would help if you could provide the ULS logs for this error, even the PWA queue error message. Then has it already been working before?
Hope this helps,

  • Interactive Reporting An Unknown error has occured

I have a number of users that keep getting the following message:
"An unknown error has occurred. Please save your document and restart your application."
This error appears several times in Interactive Reporting. It happens when you are trying to copy and paste formulas into a spreadsheet. Also, the error has occurred when adding or changing a filter, removing a column, processing a query, changing column orders, copying and pasting from one window to another, removing a column, etc.
Any ideas on why we are getting this error.
    Thanks
    Doug Pilot

We have the same problem after applying the service fix. When we rolled back to the pre-service fix web client, we were unable to reproduce this issue so it seems the new web client is flawed.
Are you on red hat linux too?
We asked a couple of other implementations but they did not see this issue after adding the service fix.
The related dbgprint entry we see is:
    Failure in removal of file:C:\DOCUME~1\ij24\LOCALS~1\Temp\ODSC6.tmp.
    Error: [13] <path specifies a read-only file>

    Oracle Support Solution:_
On your HFM application server.   Navigate to the below folder:
    +\Oracle\Middleware\EPMSystem11R1\products\FinancialManagement\ServerWorkingFolder\Report Style Sheets+
Confirm that the xml files in the sub directories are zero size.  If that is the case rename the "Report Style Sheets" directory and copy the same from another working application server or from a server filesystem backup.
    My Observations:
I don't see any zero size XML files
    Please suggest your valuable solution.
    Thanks in advance!!

I can see the following message in a log " *assert failure: (.\authhandler.cpp:171). (false : no message)* " for more description about the issue...

    Hi,
I faced exactly the same problem: some resources try to connect to My Tasks, and get an Unknown error. No error message in ULS or Eventlog.
I hope I solved the problem, and want to share the experience here.
    First, by reading this article,
http://www.projectserverexperts.com/ProjectServerFAQKnowledgeBase/Unknown%20Error%20My%20Tasks%20Page.aspx: even if the SQL Query returns me no records, it gives me the idea to delete (unpublish) some tasks (i managed to identify some tasks which raised
the problem, by assigning a test account on them, and see that the pb happened).
So I decided to delete my project from the Published Database (and keep it in the Draft of course). Than in Project Pro, I opened and Published: the problem seem to be solved.
I don't know the root cause of the pb: maybe some SQL data were corrupted for an unknown reason.
Hope it could help some one ! Don't hesitate to give feedback if you solved this pb with this solution, or workaround.

  • The iPod " " could not be updated. An unknown error has occurred (1417).

This is what saved my day... I copied this from a longer reply.
"Try this: I got error 1417. The iPod "Dan's iPod" could not be updated. An unknown error has occurred (1417).
1)Plug in your iPod and wait for iTunes to tell you an update for it is available
2)Click the Install button on that dialog and keep an eye on your iPod
3)When your iPod screen switches from the flashing "Do Not Disconnect" message to the Main Menu screen, unplug the iPod, wait a couple SECONDS, plug the iPod back in
4)You should notice some slow-down in the progress meter and a new dialog box should come up and tell you your iPod is being updated and to not disconnect it until the update finishes
5)That's it. Wait for the update to finish and iTunes will re-recognize it and show its new up-to-date status."
The only thing I would add, restart your computer with the IPOD left connected. When it starts back up you are set.

Does this article contain anything useful?

  • I am trying to download an app and keep getting this error message: "Could not sign in. An unknown error has occurred" keeps popping up.

This is a question for a mini iPad...
I am trying to download an app and keep getting this error message: "Could not sign in. An unknown error has occurred.  I have tried shutting down and restarting. I've tried changing the password. I get the error message with free and not free apps. Any suggestions on how to fix?

Reports are that this is a problem with the iTunes Store that they're working on. Some people have had success after signing out of their account and back in. If that doesn't work for you, wait a few hours or perhaps until tomorrow and by then they may have the problem sorted out.
    Regards.

  • An error has occurred: An unknown error has occurred

I have a report using InvoView for input parameters and displaying the output.  The report uses a date range to select data from the database.  I can run the report for many dates and date ranges, but when I use one particular date the report produced the following error after about 20 minutes - "An error has occurred: An unknown error has occurred".  This error is displayed in the InvoView window.  I can see the pageserver.exe thread still executing in the database monitor, so I know the thread is still processing.  Any help in determining what is this generic error and any how to resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated.
    George

I'm kinda guessing here, but it sounds data related...
Are you sure there's data for 1/28/09?  Does the report assume there's data, and it's doing something it shouldn't if there's no data?
Can you scan the data for this date and see if you're getting valid data for all fields?
What is your data source (database, excel, whatever)?  Might a "date" field have an invalid date, for example?
If you don't have a lot of formula fields, add this to each (basic syntax):
    dim debug as number
debug = debug / debug  'Cause divide by zero
This will pop up a window for each field as it is being calculated.  Run the report with a different date, and note the order of the fields as they pop up.  Comment out the divide by zero as each field pops up to get to the subsequent field.  Re-run the report for the date that causes the error (after uncommenting the divide by zeros), and follow the same process, until the error pops up.  This should give you an idea of what field has the issue.  Manually walk through that field's calculation with the data for the record to see what fails.
If it's not the first record that causes the error message, you can control which iteration the divide by zero occurs on with something like:
    dim debug as number
global dbgcnt1 as number  ' probably want a different var for each formula field
    dbgcnt1 = dbgcnt1 + 1
    if dbgcnt1 > 10 then
debug = debug / debug  'Cause divide by zero
    end if

  • Project Server 2013 - "An unknown error has occured"

    Hi !
Whenever I navigate to Project Center in Project Server 2013 the credentials window pops-up continuously even after entering correct admin account and after several clicks on OK button in credential window it says "An unknown error has occurred".
This is happening at every links. Even at Resources, Tasks, Reports, etc.. Is this Project Server 2013 stable or still has bugs in it.
I recently installed March 2013 hotfix for Project Server but still no luck. In ULS or Event Viewer I didn't got any
    relevant exceptions.
I am even unable to connect to Project Server from Project Professional.
    Thanks & Regards.

"An unknown error has occurred" usually means that the browser cannot resolve some data or something is missing. This can be caused by many issues. One for instance is deleting projects, but timesheets are still referencing it. Many others.   This
is one of the harder issues to resolve, because often you don't find anything in the ULS.
Seeing that this error is occurring everywhere on PWA, I would first try rerunning the "SharePoint Product Configuration Wizard".  If this fails at any place, that will be the first thing to fix.

Migrated Project server 2010 to Project server 2013.  All the quick launch pages were working after I completed the migration. Started the process of publishing projects and statusing/timesheets to update project.
Now I see "An Unknown Error has occurred".   Tried all my solutions for Project Server 2010 without success.
    Event log looks clean.
Has anybody seen and resolved this issue?

I made all possibel changes and setting to resolve this issue. But still I am failed to find an answer.
Please help me to find the correct resolution.
    Regards,

Try one by one i think 1 one will help you for sure
1.Try updating the published database stats, well do all four Project Server databases using this command against each database
    EXEC SP_updatestats
query will take time to execute depends on data.
    2. see the
    link
    3. These types of errors are likely caused by one of the following:
Corruption in the project data being viewed
Basic corruption in the view configuration.
For #1 this can be a custom field value that is filtered where one project has an invalid (null?) value for the field in question, so often just removing any filters configured on the view will fix this.
If you identify the filter in question then see the tips above about republishing (or possibly re-saving AND re-publishing) some or all projects to correct the data.
For #2 there are few options other than to recreate the view, copying the current view sometimes helps but not reliably.

The issue is caused by corrupt Point of Veiw information stored in the USERPARAMS table in the HFM repository database.
IMPORTANT: Make a full backup of the the database before attempting any direct changes in HFM repository.
To delete corrupt user data from USERPARAMS table the following SQL statement may be used where <username> is the name of the user affected and <appname> is the name of the application:
    DELETE *
    FROM <appname>_USERPARAMS
    WHERE Username like '<username>@%'
The USERPARAMS table stores user-based information such as HFM Cluster settings, Extended Analytics settings, Web Data Entry Form settings, Web Based Report Files. Executing above SQL statement will reset all these settings for selected user.

  • Redownload - 'An unknown error has occurred'

I downloaded a couple of books when I first got iBooks and have since read & deleted them, knowing they'd be sat in my purchases history in case I ever wanted to redownload them in the future.
When I do try and redownload them the download starts (screen goes back to library and the icon for the book appears) before I get 'An unknown error has occurred'
Now I'm stuck with books in my purchases which I am unable to redownload. My purchase list now has a load of unusable links making things a bit of a mess. I'd happily just delete these items off my purchase list if that was an option, but it makes me even more reluctant to buy from the store in future.
Has anyone else come across this, I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling with no success - any advice would be much appreciated!

what made you think that ? except for purchased apps, you are entitled to one download only. click here for more information.
you might want to try what Zevoneer suggested in another thread:
You could try contacting the iTunes Music Store Customer Service and you might be able to persuade them to sanction a second free download. There have been occasional reports in the iTunes forum of this happening, however just be aware that they are not under any obligation to do so. If you click on this link you'll be able to email your query: iTMS Customer Service
You might also want to check out these pages for future reference:
