An unknown error occurred (-50). Videos/Photos won't sync! HELP!!

I have been getting this error ever since i updated to iTunes 7. I can update my music files just fine, but I can't put my podcasts, photos, or movies onto my ipod. I have tried restoring it, which didn't do anything except erase all the photos and movies i had on before. I am completely up to date with the ipod and itunes software. Can someone tell me how to fix this?
Oh, and I also get the "disk cannot be read from or written to" error every once in a while, usually when I'm trying to put on the videos or photos. It's not usually a problem, though I don't know why it's still showing the error. I've tried switching USB ports, and my computer updates are up to date so I'm not sure what the problem is. I am aware of the article on this problem as well.
Thanks for your help!

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

  • IPod cannot be synced to computer. An unknown error occured (-50)

When i connect my iPod (30gb Video), the music automatically syncs. But then i get an error code, saying "The iPod cannot be synced. An unknown error occured (-50)"
However, the music still syncs to the iPod.
So i just wanted to know, if anybody knows what this is, and what i can do to stop this appearing.
    Thank You.

The only thing that comes to mind is some file with a file name the iPod's FAT32 format doesn't like. For example, I have seen this type of error when syncing photos and having certain characters in the file name of the photo that seem ok under more modern disk formats but the iPod's Fat32 doesn't care for.

  • "unknown error occured (0xE8000001)". HELP!!!

    Hi,
I just got the iPod touch and it seems to have problems connecting to iTunes. The only screen I get is the one of the cable, with an arrow above it pointing toward the iTunes logo. When I try connecting I get the message that iTunes could not connect to iPod because an unknown error occurred (0xE8000001). Anyone know how to help? I've got the latest version of iTunes, I check all the connections, they're fine, I restarted my computer. Still the same problems. Thanks.

Does that include trying other computers?
You can sync your photos to apps on your computer without using iTunes.
Contacts should be synced with an app on your computer, but that does require iTunes. You can sync your contacts, notes, bookmarks, and calendars with MobileMe over the air, without iTunes.
Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings will put you back in "scratch" condition, with the currently installed iOS.

  • The iphone cannot be synced. An unknown error occurred (13019)

After reading discussions on this error, I found a fix and had to share.
I have the iPhone 3G (16G). I upgraded iTunes and iPhone 3.0 When I tried to sync, it gave me the error "The iphone cannot be synced. An unknown error occurred 13019"
I unchecked the Music> Sync Music option. It gave me the "Are you sure you do not want to sync music?" I chose the Don't Sync Music button and the sync was successful.
I then checked Music> Sync Music option and was able to successfully load all of my music back... granted, it took time to reload.
I'm no expert, but since it worked for me... I figured it was worth posting.

I have the same iphone and I have not been able to access my music in weeks. I keep getting that error 13019 when I would sync up.
Thank you for taking the time to post this fix! It definitely works. It does take a while after you unsync the music to put it back on but at least I have my music again!!!

When I try to open video files purchased through iTunes in Quicktime, I get the message: 'Error 23132: an unknown error occurred. This never happened until I updated iTunes, but when I try to go back to the previous version, I still get the message. It is more convenient for me to play videos in Quicktime since iTunes is such a memory hog. Please help.

You may get better results if you switch to this alternate version: iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) and, if needed, reinstall QuickTime. The new (nearly) all 64-bit version doesn't seem to play well with QuickTime. Perhaps if DRM authentication is required QuickTime needs to be able to see something that is part of the older 32-bit code.

  • I can't upload photos to facebook from iPhoto 11 (9.4.3) Message says :"An unknown error occurred, please try again later"

I have a new MacBook Pro 15" Retina with OSX Mountain Lion 10.8.3 (just did the combo update)
iPhoto 11 (9.4.3) is installed and freshly updated.
I used to share photos from iPhoto directly from my previous computer (a 2009 MacBook Pro running OSX Leopard).
It doesn't seem to work anymore on my new computer. When I try to connect to facebook, I keep having the same message :"An unknown error occurred, please try again later".
I am in China, where Facebook is blocked, but I have a VPN on (Astrill), simulating a connection from LA. I have no problem at all to access Facebook from Chrome, Safari and Skype.
I am sure that I am typing the right username and password.
I made sure iPhoto wasn't blocked in my facebook app settings.
I tried to delete the account, closing iPhoto and relaunching. It still does not work.
I tried to delete the com.apple.iphoto.plist from Library/Preferences (as suggested on another thread in this forum). It didn't do anything.
It is getting very frustrating and I really don't want to throw my new computer through the room. Anyone managed to solve this issue ?
    Thanks.

It is peculiar, that Chrome, Safari, and Skype can access FB, but not the iPhoto uploader.
Do you see any error messages/ diagnostics in the Console Window, when you try to connect to Facebook?
Launch a Console window from Applications > Utilities and clear the Console Window. Then try to upload. Are there any new messages?
And also launch a Terminal and have a look, if "facebook.com" is properly resolved:
    Type
    ping facebook.com
into the window. Do you see any transmissions? What is the IP address used?
    I see:

  • Issue with Windows Photo Viewer: "can't save picture because an unknown error occured"

    Hi,
I recently installed Windows 7 RC (Build 7100). I quite often have an issue in Windows Photo Viewer when rotating an image and trying to go to the next picture. It gives me the error "Windows Photo Viewer can't save picture because an unknown error occured".
Seperate from this issue: when I delete a picture in Windows Photo Viewer, it is still in the Windows Explorer overview of files. This did not use to be the case in Windows XP?
    Kind regards,
    Frederik

    Hi
    SOSv2 ,
This should be fixed in Windows 7 RTM.
Also, you can install Windows Live Photo Gallery to view and rotate pictures as well. To download it, please click
HERE . For more information about Windows Live Photo Gallery, you can

    Windows Live Answers
In addition, please understand that Nikon RAW images (and most Canon) do not support rotate functionality in Windows Photo Viewer, and thus rotate is
disabled. To rotate those types of images, the user will need to use an image editing program that fully supports their RAW codec.
    Regards,
    Linda
I am using Win 7 x64 Ultimate RTM and still have this problem (with JPG's dumped from my Nikon to the hard drive).  Doesn't do it on every one that I rotate, but still very annoying.  Is there a fix?
