An Unknown Error Occurred (5002).

The following is happening way too much for an expensive product like the iPod. Let's get it together Apple.
We Could Not Complete Your Music Store Request. An Unknown Error Occurred (5002).
There was an error in the Music Store. Please Try Again Later.

You might get better answers over in the music store discussions...
but if you change to one-click and go back, is it fixed?

  • An unknown error occurred (5002) and Connection timed out issue(s)

Next issue that I have since upgrading to Ver 8 of iTunes:
When trying to make a purchase I get either one of two different problems/errors -- 1.) Following pop-up “Could not purchase song. An unknown error occurred (5002)” or 2.) I get a “connection timed out” pop-up stating there could be a problem with my internet/network connection.
As far as there being an issue with my modem or internet, well...there isn’t one that I can detect. I am able to do everything else in iTunes (download samples, surf the pages, etc.) so my connection seems ok generally speaking.
If someone could get in touch with that super-hip kid in the Mac commercials and tell him to fix all of these problems with iTunes ver 8 that would be great! Honestly, any other issues I have with Vista are typically easy to fix. iTunes is the one piece of software that seems to cause me the most issues and there is very little support from Apple. Seems sort of strange for a company who claims such stability in their products. What gives?
    Sorry for the rant...just frustrated.

Ok, two seconds after making this post I think I fixed the problem (fingers crossed). I read on a quazi-related post that iTunes was now requiring security codes off credit cards for purchases. Personally I don't use a credit card but I went in to my account just to make sure. The 1st time I tried to access my account I got the 5002 error, the 2nd time I was able to access my account w/o any issue. I did not make any changes to my account at all (just browsed around a bit and made sure everything was ok). After exiting my account I was able to make a purchase. Hey, whatever...right? Of course on my next purchase it will probably throw up some new error. Anyway, try this if you have the same problem.

  • What is "An unknown error occurred (5002)" in iTunes for Mac

For the last few days I'm getting this error when I try to update an iPhone/iPod app in my Applications folder. When I click on the Update Available button I get the aforementioned error. Does anyone know what this means and/or better yet how to get rid of it so I can download the updated app.?

I get this error also. It is getting quite annoying. I tried contacting support and this is what they sent me:
"First, make sure you're using the latest version of iTunes. It can be downloaded free of charge from the iTunes website:
    http://www.itunes.com/download
Certain types of software can cause conflicts and prevent iTunes from connecting to the iTunes Store properly, even if the software appears to be configured to allow iTunes access. This can include firewall, virus-protection, and web-acceleration software.
If the error message persists after you upgrade iTunes, you can pinpoint which software program is the source of the block in the connection by using the MSCONFIG utility on your computer. For detailed instructions, please refer to the following article:
Using MSCONFIG to troubleshoot conflicts in Windows Vista
    http://www.info.apple.com/kbnum/n305415
In addition, if you are connecting to the Internet via a local area network (LAN), your router might have firewall settings that may interfere with your downloads and produce this error message. I suggest removing the router from your computer's connection and then connecting your computer directly to your modem. For assistance with settings for your router or modem, you may need to contact the manufacturer.
When configuring the software on your computer to give iTunes access to the Internet, you'll need to allow the following domains :
    phobos.apple.com
    phobos.apple.com.edgesuite.net
If you require more in-depth assistance, you may wish to consider calling Apple technical support. A representative will be able to tell you about Apple's complimentary and fee-based support options and can help you determine which option might be most helpful in this case. You can reach AppleCare technical support at 800-APL-CARE (800-275-2273). Help is available seven days a week from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. central time. "
Didn't help me... maybe it will work for someone else.

  • An unknown error occurred (5002) in Shopping Cart

I've e-mailed Apple tech. support, and they just keep giving me generic answers.
For the past 2 months, I have been unable to view my shopping cart. I've tried this on 4 different PCs/internet connections, so it can't be that. I'm sure there's something wrong on the server, or some misconfiguration of my shopping cart server side.
Anyhow, does anyone know of a workaround, a way to fix this, a way to get in touch with real tech. support and not people who treat you like an idiot?

You might get better answers over in the music store discussions...

  • How can you get your music synced from iTunes to your iPod when a window pop ups on the screen saying"The iPod "Edward's iPod" cannot be synced. An unknown error occured (13019))?

I had 429 songs already on my iPod Touch. When I was in the process of syncing a song from my iTunes Library on to my iPod, a window popped up on the screen saying, ""The iPod "Edward's iPod" cannot be synced. An unknown error occured (13019)). I click "Device" on my iTunes Library to make sure the song was in my iPod. It showed the song that was recently synced now listed under "Device", but when I physically looked for the song on my iPod Touch, it does not appear on there at all. It all started when I decided to put a Playlist I created in the iTunes Library and transferred it on to my iPod. Do you know why it may affected my syncing process and is there any way where I could get the syncing function back to normal so that I can continue adding songs on my iPod? Thank you for listening.    P.S. My iPod iOS version is 4.3.5.

  • I downloaded an album from iTunes and some of the songs downloaded but others didn't there was an error message 8003 Unknown error occurred. While I downloaded the album to my phone, it wouldn't download to my mac, what am I doing wrong???

I purchased an album on ITunes store, while the items downloaded to my phone, it didn't download to my mac. Some of the songs downloaded but not the majority, when I try to download the songs, it gives me an error 8003 Unknown error occured. What am I doing wrong? If I can't download this album, how do I get a credit??

    Hello mercdw,
Once the music has been downloaded to your iPhone, you can transfer purchases from your device to iTunes.

Alternatively, the following article provides further information regarding this error and steps that can help resolve the issue.
    "Error -50," "-5000," "8003," "8008," or "-42023"
These alerts occur due to timeouts or conflicts trying to write a file during download.
If you encounter this issue while accessing iTunes Store:
See iTunes 9: "One Moment Please" or "Error (-50)" message when accessing iTunes Store
If you encounter this issue while while downloading something from the iTunes Store:
Delete your iTunes Downloads folder, located in:
    Mac OS X:
~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Downloads   Note: "iTunes Media" may appear as "iTunes Music. Also, the tilde (~) refers to your Home directory.
    Windows Vista:
  \Users\username\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Downloads\
    Windows 7:
  \Users\username\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Downloads\
    Windows XP:
  \Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Downloads\
After locating your iTunes Downloads folder:
    Quit iTunes.
Delete the Downloads folder on your computer.
    Open iTunes.
Choose Store > Check for Available Downloads.
Enter your account name and password.
If you encounter this issue while while downloading Digital Copies using Windows:
Use MSCONFIG (directions for Windows XP and Windows Vista/Windows 7) to disable conflicting software.
If using MSCONFIG steps resolves the issue, you may want to use the System Configuration Utility to turn on the third-party System Services and Startup Items one at a time (restarting your computer after turning on the item or items) to identify which System Service or Startup Item is causing the conflict.
You can turn all of them back on by selecting the Normal Startup option under the General tab of the System Configuration Utility window, but please note that this may cause the issue to reoccur.
If you are able to isolate the issue to a particular third-party software, you may wish to contact them to let them know of the conflict.
