An unknown error occurred (-9808)
Please help me solve this problem. Every time I try to use the ITunes program to download anything I receive the following message: An unknown error occurred (-9808). When I run the diagnostic program I get the message that Network interfaces verified. ITunes connection verified. And secure link to iTunes failed. What shall I do? When I look at the diagnostic report it states that: Current user is not an administrator. However, I am logged in as the administrator. Also, Windows Firewall is on. iTunes is enabled in Windows Firewall. If iTunes is enabled in Windows Firewall, shouldn’t the problem be solved? I tried restarting the computer, but this doesn’t seem to solve the problem. I will keep trying, but it is very frustrating that I cannot download any of the iTunes/ iPod applications.
The entire report is:

I am an avid PC user, but have been considering purchasing several of Apple’s products, including the iPad. This experience is not helping me continue my desire to purchase these products. I hope you can provide technical assistance. Thank You for your attention.
Problems connecting to the iTunes Store often stem from issues with the Windows firewall or a firewall in a router, a privacy filter (such as McAfee Internet Privacy Service or Norton Internet Security), an antivirus/antispyware utility, or a download accelerator. Start here:
iTunes for Windows: iTunes Store Connection Troubleshooting
iTunes for Windows: Connection Issues when using Internet Filters, Accelerators, or Firewalls
Tunes for Windows could not establish a secure connection to the iTunes Store
iTunes for Windows: Possible iTunes Store Errors
for some basic tips to start isolating the cause of the problem. What you may need to do is temporarily disable any such service and see if that fixes the problem. If so, then if it's a firewall/Internet filter that's causing the problem and you'll need to set the offending service to allow iTunes to connect to the iTunes Store.
Hope this helps.

Want to get a free app but keep getting this response ' we could not complete your itune store request an unknown error occured (-9808)'?
I've done a search on here and haven't found any solutions posted for it for windows computers. You could try posting in the iTunes For Windows forum and see if you get any suggestions in there (are you able to download other items from the store e.g. a free app ?) - I use a Mac, the only things that I could think of to suggest trying is see if you get the same error on a different iTunes library :
creating and/or opening a different iTunes library : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1589
or using a different user account on your computer in case it's a problem with that user account.
But you may want to try the iTunes For Windows forum first, apart from anything else you are likely to get better help for the above -

I am unable to log into the iTunes store or my account. I keep getting this message. I ran Secure Link to the diagnostics and it said "Secure link to iTunes failed", so then I followed the directions that the Apple website gives, but still no luck.

Itunes error -9808, an unknown error occured. Please Help!!!
I am trying to purchase music on itunes store and every time i try to log in I get the above message. I have followed all the apple and microsoft suggestions for remedies, I have removed and reinstalled itunes, I have laboriously connected and installed itunes on an old desktop which can access the itunes store fine (same antivirus on desktop as laptop), so its not my router causing problems. Firewall is set to allow access, and even when turned off makes no difference. THe following is the details of the networking diagnostic on itunes

Hi,
I am NOT a computer boff at all, but this issue has bugged me for 2 days. I have just resolved it by the following:-
1 Start Internet Explorer.
2 On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
3 Click the Advanced tab. In the Security section, make sure that the Check for server certificate revocation check box is cleared, and that the Use SSL 2.0 and the Use SSL 3.0 check boxes are selected.
Click OK.
I had just reinstalled MSN Messenger could not sign in. Following their troubleshooting advice I completed the above actions and it resolved the issue.
I then tried Itunes again and it worked !! I have also downloaded a track and it plays fine!!
I don't know how or why it worked, but it did for me !!
I hope this helps -

The iPod "iPod" could not be restord. An unknown error occurred (6).
Error 6! I won't forget! Here's my story:
I had no problem paying and downloading the software, iTunes had my iPod Touch backed up without any problem either. But it just wouldn't install the freaking software. I kept getting this error message "An unknown error occurred (6)". I lost count how many times I tried this and i am very frustrated.
This is what I found on the support page regarding what to do with an error 6 and many other errors (2, 6, 9, -18, -48, -50, 1002, 1011, 1601, 1602, 1603, 1604, 1608, 1609, 1611, 2003, 2004, -9808).

Anyone encountering the same problem, pls check out the support article and try going through the steps Apple suggested there, see if it will fix the problem cause I went through every single one of them (except using a windows machine) and none of them worked. Sigh~! I am back to 1.1.4 now and Apple will be hearing from me.
10 bucks short and my Saturday gone, I am not happy. (and don't get me started on the $20 I paid in January!!! Fxxx!)JTZEM, thanks. I feel like a need for an 'error 6' support group...
If you do contact Apple and got an explanation/fix for the problem, could you pls post it here cause I don't live in the States, our support from Apple here could take days if not weeks. Thanks. -

I had 429 songs already on my iPod Touch. When I was in the process of syncing a song from my iTunes Library on to my iPod, a window popped up on the screen saying, ""The iPod "Edward's iPod" cannot be synced. An unknown error occured (13019)). I click "Device" on my iTunes Library to make sure the song was in my iPod. It showed the song that was recently synced now listed under "Device", but when I physically looked for the song on my iPod Touch, it does not appear on there at all. It all started when I decided to put a Playlist I created in the iTunes Library and transferred it on to my iPod. Do you know why it may affected my syncing process and is there any way where I could get the syncing function back to normal so that I can continue adding songs on my iPod? Thank you for listening. P.S. My iPod iOS version is 4.3.5.

Any ideas?Error 1611: This error may indicate a hardware issue with your device. Follow the steps in this article. Alsoattempt to restore while connected with a known-good 30-pin Dock Connector cable, computer, and network to isolate this issue to the device. The MAC address being missing or the IMEI being the default value (00 499901 064000 0) can also confirm a hardware issue.
