An unkown error occured (1417)

So I uploaded iTunes from 6 to 7 yesterday so that i may start to download movies. Problem is my iPod firmware is 1 and I can't put the movies onto my iPod if I don't update it's firmware to 1.2
Yet everytime I go to update it gives me a pop up that says "Lynette's ipod cannot be updated. An unknown error occured (1417)" And then my iPod device disappears from iTunes so I have to unplug it and then plug it back in. Can anyone tell me what to do??

Hi, can someone help me with this? I've been browsing troubleshooter and topics for days and yet I can't figure out how to fix this one. This occured when I've got my computer reformatted and installed a new iTunes. I can't put anything on my iPod shuffle. The message "The iPod cannot be updated. An unkown error occured. It is actually more simple than iTunes lets u believe.
If you just download an older version of iTunes, most likly the one u had before u updated ur computer, that should fix it and then you can update ur ipod and then get the newer version of iTunes.
Thats what i had to do when i got that exact same error just a few months ago.
If that dont work let me know.

I have the same issue with almost exactly the same environment...

iPhone has been set up to wirelessly sync when on charge yet I get this error when the iPhone is not even charging!
I work for a mobile network operator and although this isn't something we support anyway, we would usually stumble across something like this when customers call us for advice prior to contacting the manufacturer for support, yet this hasn't been a call driver so I'd imagine this is isolated... (either that or not many people have updated their device and set up the wireless sync lol)...

The iTunes application could not be opened. An unkown error occurred (-50).

I was using iTunes with Windows 7 without problem. I recently updated to the latest version of iTunes (Version 9.2?) and now everytime I try to start up iTunes I get the message "The iTunes application could not be opened. An unkown error occurred (-50)." I tried everything in the Online help section of the Apple website for Windows 7, including "repair", deleteing iTunes and reinstalling, and nothing works. What is going on? Does anybody else have this problem?

I actually looked at some of your previous advice on problems with Windows 7 and I disconnected my computer to wired and wireless networks, closed all programs, started CHKDSK and rebooted the computer and that solved the problem. iTunes is running perfectly so far. Unfortunately, I wasn't paying attention when CHKDSK finished and didn't get to see the report so can't let you know what it actually did, but it accomplished what all the the other solutions I tried did not (set up new user account, remove/replace preferences, remove/replace libraries. remove/reinstall iTunes, etc.).

Has anyone encountered the following iTunes error,
" The iTunes Library file cannot be saved. An unkown error occurred [-1450] "
Whenever I shut my iTunes down the next time I start it up the library seems to be lost. I can do an Add Folder to Library from the File options, pick my iTunes Music folder and copy everything back in. However the whole repeats when I close iTunes down again. Have tried re-installing iTunes but this did not work.
Has anyone got any suggestions,

ok people i installed the 7 itunes version for my30GB video pod but now that i connect my ipod it wont do anything it wont update the songs i have on the music library says do i want to instal the 1.2 software version to my ipod i said yes now it says....the ipod "armando vega ipod" could not be updated an unknown error occured(1417)what does that mean what do i do do i reset my ipod? i had installed the disc i got withthe ipod on my friends computer first when i got it now i did it off the site on my own computer. is this the problem?Help plz

well songs from my computer are downloading and so are my photos after i choose to not install the 1.2 version and it said that my ipod was connected with another library and if i wanted to sync with the new library i said yes but it deleted my old songs i had wheni go tit off my friends computer.Do i really need this 1.2 version? even when i try to install it now that i had to update it still wontinstall it.but why are my videos not downloading that i have on my computer theay are videos i have on adobe photoshop is it not compatible they are videos i have from my cellphone a sony ericsoon W600i. Is there a way i can make these videos compatible to download?

It doesn't specify "1437," but since this happens during a Restore, try the suggestions in this document

If your shuffle is 3rd or 4th gen, you can ignore the bit about the iPod Reset Utility. That only applies to 1st and 2nd gen shuffles.

Hi everyone!
Can anyone please shed some light on this error for me?!
"The iPod could not be updated. An unknown error occurred (1417)"
We started getting this error ever since we updated from iTunes 6 to 7 on a G5 running OS 10.4.7.

Here are the steps you have to follow:
1)Plug in your iPod and wait for iTunes to tell you an update for it is available.
2)Click the Install button on that dialog and keep an eye on your iPod.
3)When your iPod screen switches from the flashing "Do Not Disconnect" message to the Main Menu screen, unplug the iPod, wait a couple SECONDS, plug the iPod back in.
4)You should notice some slow-down in the progress meter and a new dialog box should come up and tell you your iPod is being updated and to not disconnect it until the update finishes.
5)That's it. Wait for the update to finish and iTunes will re-recognize it and show its new up-to-date status.

After couple hours on iMac .I figure out to check the windows machines.
here is the error message which ipad2 is try to send to apple.
I do not know if it is suitable to enter the codes and lists but anyway. Please check your (C:\Users\Okayra\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPad Updater Logs ) it is listed there.
I gave to the ipad2 to the store I bought it and they told me at first it is software issue and we can not get it back then after ..... anyway they gave me new one. At least this is good new.. Thanks for the customer support care system by APPLE.
I guess the problem with the GSM baseband hardware on 3G. That's what I understood from the log. Please correct me after you check on your system..

LR3.3RC - Unkown error occured

When switching from one photo to the next in the 'Develop' section, the 'hourglass' freezes (actually not an hourglass) and after about 10 seconds 'Unkown error occured' appears. However I can continue working as if nothing happened. This situation occurs only after a certain time of using Lightroom. But when it occurs, it keeps coming back whenever I move to the next photo. Closing the program and restarting it, gets rid of the error for a certain amount of time.
I did never observe this error with LR 3.2
I'm using XP, 32bit, SP3 - 4GB RAM and plenty of space on HDDs.

The problem you mention I already have since version 3.0

After the error occurs I always shut down LR and restart it.
I use Vista 32 bit with 4 Gb Ram.

I just replace this Iphone 7 months ago. Now I lockout and cannot restored. This error message ocurred everytime "The Iphone "Iphone" could not be restored. An unknowned error occured (-1)". The vendor (M1 singaopre) said this is a hardware problem. This phone is "wasted" and wanted $350 to replace it. What a load of BS, to pay $350 to replace a replacement for damaged goods.
