An unwanted toolbar showed up in Firefox. How do I get rid of it?
I was looking for restaurant menu and this shop at home.com toolbar installs itself. How do I get rid of it? I hid it by clicking on view ---> toolbars ----> unchecking shop at home, but I want to permanently delete it.

-This is a real mess and involves editing the registry.
-If you do not know what you are doing, DO NOT DO IT!
-Get help from someone who is familiar with registry editing.
-And backup all registry keys before deleting them.
-You can completely disable your system if you do something wrong in the registry. -

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.

Extensions that do not have a "Remove" button are installed by other software and are not under control of the Firefox extension manager.<br />
Such globally installed extensions are usually found via a registry scan or are installed in a location that Firefox scans for installed extensions.
* https://developer.mozilla.org/en/Adding_Extensions_using_the_Windows_Registry
Extensions installed this way need to be removed via the settings (options/preferences) of the program that has added this extension or you need to uninstall this program via "Control Panel > Programs".<br />
In Firefox you an only disable such an extension. -

I changed my operative system in my computer to windows 7 and add several plugins to my mozilla firefox, and after that i couldn´t find the plus signal to open a new page in a new tab.So, everytime i opened a new page it oppened a new firefox window, and this was very boring. So, i tryed to open mozila in safe mode and tryed to add some extras and i think it was because of this that i started to have several boxes from java script application opening and telling about several errors everytime i open a new window in mozilla. The errors are the following:
"error on adding toolbar element:NS_error Unexected, component returned failure code:0x8000fff (NS_Error_Unexpected)...id:places-New Place
or:id:Plus-Circles
or:id:Plus-Profile
or:id:Wallet
or:id:Web fonts

id:Plus-Circles
id:Plus-Profile

The problem now is that despite the errors appears all the time i open firefox, the good thing is that the plus signal now appears and i can open a new page in a new tab but that page opens at the same time in a new window!!! I mean the page appears in a new tab and in a new window and the errors are appearing all the time i open mozilla! What can i do to get rid of this???Hello,
The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
Note: ''This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.''
To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
#Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

"A fresh ramp up on your bottom line is establishing an online business from home11, easy to start,..."
Have a look on the second line ''"business from ''home11''
This is actually a link to a website and an extract form an article I wrote. No matter what I do can I get rid of that ....11 after home. On my website http://www.WomensOnlineBusiness.com/five-fundamental-steps.html on the left sidebar buttons I have the same problem and a lot of other places. Weirdly enough not on the home page, but on all the other pages where I have the sidebuttons.
I have not been able to figure out how to get rid of these numbers - think-just guessing- it has something to do with the add-ons but in that case don't know which one.
If anybody can help me out here that would be great, as I like Firefox a lot and would hate to leave it.
Hoping for the best
PIAI can't make out from your low-res screenshot what those gray images in the menu at the left are, but I do not see them and there is nothing int the page source that accounts for them.

AOL HAS GRABBED FIREFOX, HOW DO i GET RID OF IT?
I down loaded a PDF reader which turned out to be from AOL and AOL grabbed Firefox. I am left with the AOL search engine and Firefox is minimized in the top left hand corner of the screen. I have tried deleting Firefox and reloading. But the same thing occurs. I use AVG maintenance to take care of my PC but this doesn't get rid of AOL. Can you help?

seems to have been asked and answered but the answer has been removed?
'''Success, I think,''' I finally got rid of the NCH search. Find the Manage Search Engine List. Try the drop down arrow on the left of the search box and go to Manage Search Engines at the bottom. Highlight the offending search engine and click remove, then restart Firefox. After that experience, I just wanted everything NCH out of my computer.

Something added a Yahoo toolbar to Firefox, how do I get rid of it?
A Yahoo toolbar and search was added to Firefox. I suspect I missed a box I needed to uncheck when something updated.

Here is the sequence for FF 7.1 (W7-HP) :<br />
Note: You should, first, Uninstall the Babylon program with Control Panel or, I think, it will just re-infect FF.<br />
1) Show the FF Toolbar (I hide mine) and select 'Tool"<br />
2) Select 'Add-ons'<br />
3) Select 'Extensions'<br />
4) A list of extensions will appear;<br />
(On mine, Babylon was right at the top)<br />
Look for Babylon Toolbar; at the right will be two options:<br />
Disable Remove<br />
5) Click on 'Remove'; close the tabs and exit FF (restart FF).<br />
6) The Babylon stuff should be gone.<br />
Good luck, this was a real PITA. -
Malawarebytes detects and flags the above and says it successfully removes. This appears to be true if I rerun a scan. However it continued to appear in later sessions. I finally think that I have tracked it down to firing up firefox. If I turn on my desktop and just run a scan, all is clean. I load firefox and run a scan and the pup is detected. I did in the past pick up the search facility Conduit but thought I had got rid; there is no outward sign other than the HKCU, and that was months ago.
Hi ibru, if you still have a Conduit-created "Community Toolbar" extension, those preferences will keep coming back. Make sure you've removed the extension.
