An unwanted white border appears around image after dragging it to the document. Why? How to get rid of border?

Thanks.
Bob

The primary image that I'm concerned with is a jpg file, 74kb, 642x402. Also used same image at 53kb, 400x249.
Here's some good info.
I tried using same image on an old Pages document I made last yr - No border.  And - I used an image from the old flyer and put it on the current flyer and - got a Border.
A difference: the flyer I used last yr was a blank document - no template. The current flyer I'm working on is one I chose from the templates with the tear-offs at the bottom for name and phone number.
Is there something intrinsic with this template that creates a border around images?
How do I do a screensnap? If you still need.
Thanks again.

• Small square boxes appearing on blank lines (UPDATED) - The question is, how to get rid of them?

*******  As to my display name "All I tried were in use" - when I registered at the Adobe site to use the Browser Lab, I tried something like 10 or 12 user names and finally gave up and went with "All I tried were in use" - my name is Bob
------------------------------- UPDATE --------------------
The problem, small square boxes showing on lines in Freetext Tool comments, is not limited to blank lines, as I originally reported here. These boxes are showing up at the end of every line. It does not matter if the line break is hard or soft, whether the line is empty or not.
Please read the original post bearing mind that the  problem is occurring at the end of all lines.
Also - here is a screen capture of a part of one comment box, showing the square lines. I didn't show the entire box because the material above the area I'm showing is a tad private or confidential. Here is the image showing the boxes - note that there is no box at the end of the last line in the comment.
-------- Original Post ------------
We have a copy of Acrobat 5.0. and up until now it has done what we need, which is not much more than adding bookmarks, links, and some touch up. I know it is very old and I know things change. I'm hoping this has nothing to do with the release we are using. I would think this would be a backward compatibility issue if it is a problem with newer Reader versions dealing with PDFs "edited" with 5.0.
I am having small square boxes showing up on blank lines. (read my update above  - the boxes are at the end of all lines, soft break or hard break))
I'm a programmer (37+ years in most all aspects of Data Processing) and I decided to learn the PHP programming "language" to add some server side processing to some of my web sites. So, I found a fairly good manual on PHP in PDF form and have been using it.
I quickly found that the PDF didn't have a single link in it and no bookmarks, so I've been adding them as I look up a particular subject. I'm also adding comments and notes to document things not in the original manual or to add comments that would help other programmers` (who know  other languages) to adjust to PHPs' way of thinking - for example: in all the other languages I know (perhaps two dozen) to get rid of a file, you "delete" it. In PHP you "unlink" it.
I've added a lot of comments and notes like that and when I view the PDF in Reader (on this computer I have 9.4.2) I'm seeing small square boxes on empty lines. The lines were created when I pressed Enter twice to insert a blank line between paragraphs. (again, read the update at the top of this message - the boxes are at the end of all lines, soft break or hard break)
How can I get rid of them?
They are not present when I've got the PDF open with Acrobat, only when I'm using an Acrobat Reader.
They are also not present if I look at the comments using the Comments navigation panel - that is, they still show on the page, but they don't show in the copy of the comment displayed in the navigation panel.
They are not present in Notes or when I use one of the shape tools (Square Tool, Circle Tool, or Line Tool) to create notes. They are only present in Freetext Tool comments
They are clearly being show where there are successive line feed/carriage return characters - but how do I get rid of them?
I JUST THOUGHT OF SOMETHING - I realized that I'd not printed any of the pages on which I have placed comments and wondered if the boxes show when printing the PDF with Reader -- they do. They are not present if I use Acrobat, not a Reader, to print the same page.
Any assistance you can provide will be greatly appreciated.
Please don't tell me to get a newer version - an expenditure like that is simply and totally out of the picture. For us, this is a Depression, not a Recession - we are self-employed and our businesses have been severely hammered since 2006 - we are down to about 1/4 of our income before the big guys trashed the economy.

P.S. Do you know that you can have a heart attack without chest pain, shortness of breath, or left arm  pain? Well, you can! I've had two and the first one nearly killed me because I had no clue it was a heart attack. You can read about it first one here.  Pass this on, it could save a life.
My second heart attack occurred on October 4, 20112 - it began, around 3:15 AM, as the first one did, with a headache. It turned out the stent implanted in 2002 had been completely clogged by too much tissue grown. The doctor put another stent inside the first one.

Problem Resolved - it is a font issue. Apparently Acrobat can't handle particular fonts and it is best to stick with a very small slection of fonts - Arial, Helvetica, Times Roman.
I haven't test a lot of fonts. If I do, I'll post there results here.

• A line appeared in the backdrop, how to get rid of it?  (and how did it get there?)

the site was published and everything looked great, except we had to make several changes to the content and somehow along the way a line appeared on the master page (hence appearing on all pages).  i can't figure out how to get rid of it, and it's driving me nuts.  any advice would be much appreciated.
thank you in advance for you help!

Hello,
Are you talking about the Shadow effect on the page : http://trainingwebcom.worldsecuresystems.com/SachinFTP/2013-12-05_1415.png
Or is it about the line on the homepage : http://trainingwebcom.worldsecuresystems.com/SachinFTP/2013-12-05_1416.png
In case it is about the shadow, please go to Master page, click on some blank area and check in the toolbar at the top if there is some effect applied to page : http://trainingwebcom.worldsecuresystems.com/SachinFTP/2013-12-05_1417.png
It can be Shadow, Bevel or Glow effect applied. You can uncheck it and it should be good.
Let us know if it helps or not.
Regards,
Sachin

• White horiz lines in image after rotate

I have pasted an map image from ArcMap 10.2. The pasted image looks fine, and the scale is correctly maintained (I had previously set the scale in both programs to be the same).
However, after the image was pasted in to Visio 2010 and I rotated the image, the rotated image now has faint white lines running horizontally. In an 9x17 image within an 11x17 document there are 8 such lines, evenly spaced from the top.
Any suggestions as to how to rotate the image without incurring the horiz lines?  Or how to get rid of the lines after they appear?

Hi,
To further help you, could you please upload a sample file created in ArcMap 10.2 to Onedrive and share the link here?
According to a preliminary inspection, white horiz lines in image appearing in drawing may be caused by compatibility of ArcMap 10.2 and Visio 2010.
We need to do more research, then tell you more detail information.

• White Lines appear on Images in Adobe Photoshop CS3

White Lines appear on Images in Adobe Photoshop CS3
Recently discover that on three different computers, while editing images in Adobe Photoshop CS3, white lines would appear on some of the images.
For example changing a image from a .jpg to a .psd or size, or enchantment features, the white lines would appear on the image.
The lines did not appear on any of the printed images, any suggestions.
Monitor: Sony Trintron Multiscan G4110
Computer: Mac G5

>The lines did not appear on any of the printed images,
Although it is odd that three computers exhibit the same problem, and unless you can provide other coincidences (same files, same monitor, etc.), I agree. The video card is typically the culprit IF the image anomalies don't print and if they move about with each image resizing or opening of a specific image. Check to see if it's properly seated and connected. Same for monitor cable. Try swapping in another card.
One other thought: as this is a CRT monitor, what happens if you change the resolution and refresh rate? Are you using a recommended combination for that monitor?

• When a pdf is taken from illustrator, white lines appears on images. How can be avoided it?

When a pdf is taken from illustrator, white lines appears on images. How can be avoided it?
I use illustrator cs5. It occures mostly on the cover pages of brochures which contains images, texts and some effects such as drop shadow etc.

Thanks for your reply.
When smooth line art is turned off in Acrobat preferences, the lines disappears but the text becomes raserized and goes its smoothness. Not only that, we are not sure that everyone who is viewing the pdf has the same settings in their laptop or desktop.
Is there any other solution to remove these lines? I have added the screenshot of a part of the pdf.
Thanks once again for your support.

• Mysterious white outline appearing around smart object

Hi. Actually not sure if this is an Illustrator issue or Photoshop.
In a psd file I have a Smart Object created in Illustrator. It is just some basic shapes that I merged together into one shape with a fill color (#FF28FF), no stroke.
Although there is no stroke, when looking at the Smart Object in Photoshop, there seems to be a very thin white outline around the shape. I've double checked again and can't find any reason for this white outline to exist. I'd like to stress that this white outline is very subtle, yet definitely visible.
I've uploaded a sample of what I'm talking about here:

It's driving me crazy. Can someone please explain to me how to get rid of it, or what is causing this?
Thanks!

Thanks for your reply Mike. My monitor is pretty new. I got it only about two months ago. It's a Dell u2311h. I don't have the hardware to properly calibrate it, so I've been using settings recommended by people on forums (with the same model and revision) who DO have such equipment. I know this not ideal at all and that different units vary from one another inspite of being same make and model.... but this is the best I can do right now.
Out of curiousity, assuming that you are correct, I went into my monitor settings and played around with the rgb. The white outline that I'm seeing did seem to vanish when bringing the Green way down, but the colors were completely wacked at that point.
I did try catching the info with the eye-dropper and it did not detect any white. So I guess it is a calibration issue. If you have any suggestions for solving this issue without calibration hardware, I'd be happy to hear them.
Thanks!

• How to get rid of the black border around the artboard

Hopefully my last question for tonight.
I need to get rid of the black border around the artboard. The two images show my drawing lined up with the art board and then inside the artboard. The dark gray is not the artboard.
As you see, the artboard has a black border. I need to get rid of it. It shows up in my project when my color key is green. The black won't go to transparent.
So how-to get rid of the border? Thanks
***Update***
I figured it out. View > Hide Artboards. Maybe this will help someone. Doesn't change the fact my spider looks like a tick:)

Try to get hold of a real spider and take a look at its anatomy, specially where the legs sprout from :-)

• How to get rid of shadowed border around screen on MacBook Pro?

Just wondering if anyone knows how to get rid of this shadowed border on the screen of my macbook pro. I think my young daughter made it appear when she was striking various keys at random on my computer when I was not there. The cursor does not work when its over the shadow (i.e. will not depress the red 'x' button to exit a window and I have to drag window out from under shadow to close it).
It also appears in the middle of screen when airplay is turned on. (See screen shots below)
I have been unable to find any other discussion on this issue.
Above is screen normally and below is when airplay is turned on. Please help, thanks.

Hi rose_hedley,
I'm wondering if you have restarted your computer by now and if that helped.
That border is from Exposé with Show Desktop enabled (F11).
Mac Basics: Exposé (Mac OS X v10.6 and earlier)

Need to temporarily clear the clutter? Press F11 and watch all your windows scamper away.
Take care,

• White line appears on jpeg export in indesign CS6? How to get rid of the same?

Please find attached actual jpeg and the screen shot of settings at which the jpeg is exported.

• A vertical white band has appeared on my screen and I don't know how to get rid of it.

About an inch wide, going from the top of the screen all the way to the bottom. It doesn't interfere with online activities or word processing, but it pulses and is distracting. I can't move it to the left or right. Shutting the computer down doesn't get rid of it. Never had this problem before.

Does the line appear all the time or just inside Firefox? If the line is on everything including your operating system interface (Win, Mac, Linux, etc) then you may want to try updating your graphics drivers, if that doesn't help it may lie in the monitor or in the graphics processor itself. Sounds like your graphics processor is either getting old or is over heating. Which is a sign its about to burn out. If its only in Firefox then it maybe a plugin you have installed or a toolbar that is not installed properly. Need additional information about your hardware to really troubleshoot that.

• Hello, I have includes a Web link in an image. When I convert the document in PDF, the link remains inactive. Could use me? Thank you.

Hello,
I have includes a Web link in an image.
When I convert the document in PDF, the link remains inactive. Could use me?
Thank you.

No version of Pages will allow images to be links. We always got around this by bracketting the image with text and making the link in that.
Pages 5 has lost the ability to have cross links in pdfs and seems to have a bug that disables any links after the first page.

• Can anyone tell me how to get rid of the white stripe?

There is a narrow white stripe just above the container on this site and I can't figure out how to get rid of it. Do you know? http://lowellforte.com/
It doesn't appear above the right sidebar which is yellow right now. Thank you.

You could also try positioning the image using a code like this:
body {
        background-image: url('http://lowellforte.com/images/1264xindex.jpg');
        background-position: 1264px 963px;
Change the dimensions to suit your style.  963px is chosen here because the stripe is about 5px give or take 1px either side.
