An update crashed my phone

Updated a Talking Tom free update...phone went black...very upset and I want this removed from my phone and I will "never" add an app again. 1st time it happens shame on you...there will be no "shame on me" for another one. Help- asap please

I hope you resolved this, since you posted four days ago. Don't let this keep you from downloading apps in the future.
First, if you are unable to restart your phone (by holding in the sleep/wake button until you see the power off slide that you swipe sideways): Hold the sleep/wake and home buttons until the phone resets itself. (This should only be done when necessary not routinely.)
If this doesn't help, does iTunes recognize your phone when you connect to your computer? There are options to reload the OS there. Back up first to iTunes.

Did you try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again? You will not lose data by resetting.
If this does not help, try to connect in recovery mode:

IOS WebClip: update crashing the phone

Summary:
I am developing a webclip (an rss reader) and sometimes, like once out of 20 times, when I update the app (through updating the manifest) the app launches and I cannot get out of it anymore, I have to reset the phone to get out or wait for the phone to run out of battery.
The details:
My webclip calls home in AJAX on start to see if there is anything new (dunno if that's related)
When I have a new version, I update the manifest file on my server, changing the URLs of the cached resources to make sure they are downloaded again.
On restarting the app (home -> launch again), the old version launches and the new version downloads in the bg
On restarting the app again, the new version comes up. That's in 95% of the cases
In 5% of the case, the following happens:
The symptom
The old version of the app launches instead of the new version
it doesn't switches from portrait to landscape anymore. It sticks in portrait mode whatever I do.
Clicking on Home doesn't leave the app (doesn't do anything at all)
Double clicking on home doesn't do anything at all either
A long press on Home seems to trigger Siri (I hear the ding-ding) but I cannot do anything with it and I don't see Siri.
A triple press on Home launch the guided access (I have it setup) but I still cannot get out of the app.
Clicking on power doesn't do anything (long press or short press)
The phone doesn't go to sleep anymore. The screen dims after the delays and it stays dimmed forever - never turns off.
Clicking on a <a href target=_blank href=kdljkhklhklhkl> in the app normally leaves the app for Safari but it doesn't do anything here.
The app works fine otherwise.
Pressing Home+Power for 5 seconds seems the only way to leave the app at that stage. This resets the phone.
I am puzzled by this problem. It happened three times to me already - all three times in a middle of an app update. I noticed it naturally since as I'm the developer I update the app quite frequently. But I'd hate for any of my users to fall into this. Hard to explain swallow...
I am testing on an iPhone 4S with iOS 6.1.3 (the latest). I'm also testing this on Chrome and Firefox on linux with no such issue so far even though I've reloaded the app far more often with those desktop browsers.
Any hint is welcome. I am ready to get involved if anyone has issues reproducing it or want me to do specific manipulations or developments.

I have an I Phone 4 and it was working this morning went to use this afternoon the phone is dead. I tried charging it wont turn on at all. I had this happen a few months ago when my phone automatically updated and it crashed the phone. Apple had me do a restore to the phone. I did copy everything to ICloud but is it a software or hardware problem and why wont it boot up. or how do I get it to boot up. Its saying in ICloud its offline.

If safe, carefully slide iPhone into a plastic bag, double bag it for sure. Use items like pencils or kitchen utensils so you do not touch it. Make Genius reservation, and take it to Apple for replacement under Warranty.

No one on this user to user forum is going to log into your computer to help you. Why would you want a stranger in your stuff anyway?
My suggestion is to take the phone to the nearest Apple Store and let them restore the phone for you. Then get your Internet problems sorted before trying to update any other iOS devices.

If you are running iOS 4.1 on a stock, unmodified 3gs, you should
have no problem. Do a backup of all your data, music, pictures, etc

From your OLD computer...
Copy your ENTIRE iTunes FOLDER to an External Drive... and then from the External Drive to your New Computer..

Nokia N95 Update Crash

I downloaded the software updater too my computer earlier as it prompted me too.. I then went ahead with updating my phone till the updater crashed.. after that my phone went into test mode or something.. so i tried re-starting the updater too continue it.. Now it say's my phone isn't connected.. and my phone has basically gone dead.. I can't switch it on, charge it, connect usb, update it.. It's the silver N95.. Any solutions too this or is it going too be a repair job?

Thanks Apple. Your software updates have ruined my phone. Update 3.1.1 made it so my iPhone wouldn't charge. My phone was unsable for 1 week because I couldn't charge it. Now, with Update 3.1.2 - it crashed my phone & now it won't restore. Now, it's really just a paperweight.

I've been trying everything since this post. It finally restored. I restarted my computer - no luck. I unplugged my USB cable & plugged it right back in to the same slot - it worked!?!? So, I have restored. It works sort of. I have no battery left, so I've had to turn it off to charge it. I'll see if it works in the morning. Try turning off the computer, unplugging the usb & plugging it back in. Using different usb slots, etc. I've found if you keep hammering restore over & over again with some wierd things like that, you might get lucky. Good luck at the store.

Microsoft all ready has an update for Windows Phone 8.1 Verizon customers still don't have WP 8.1. UGH!

Microsoft has all ready released an update to Windows Phone 8.1. Us Verizon customers don't even have WP 8.1. *** Verizon? My contract with Verizon is up in November this is the tipping point. I am not going to renew my contract. I will just buy the phone out right and sign up for Straight Talk. Then I don't need to have the "Nanny service provider (Verizon)" telling me when I am able to obtain a device update. Thanks for nothing Verizon.

On one side, I can understand that maybe (and that's a BIG maybe) Verizon wants to make sure they have enough data (pardon the pun) regarding the successful adaptation of the update for it's customers in order to make sure everything goes smoothly. However, I find that Verizon likes to keep customers in the dark regarding time frames. It's interesting to see on some of the similar titles message boards entries on this topic have Verizon monitors ready to wipe out entries if they violate terms of service on the forums. But, when asked directly about time frames for Windows updates, you either get a link to some Verizon news page (which is of no help), or nothing at all. A number of people called Verizon customer service and get varied answers like: "Sometime this summer", "Soon", or even an "I don't know, they don't even tell us either"...which is the answer I got one time. Very discouraging. I had a choice between the Windows Phone, or a Samsung Galaxy phone. I chose Windows because of it's features. Beginning to regret it now, since support for it on Verizon appears to be dismal at best.
