Analog conference phone on digital PBX?

It won't work on a DIGITAL line, but most Digital PBX had options for analog ports, and you can swap into that port just like you were hanging a fax line.

pretty much what it says up top, we've got a nortel norstar modular PBX that is (I think) digital, and I've got 2 polycom soundstation 2W conference phones that have apparently been collecting dust for 3 years. I could get one line peeled off and sent to our conference room just for the phones, but it looks like there are adapters that would allow at least SOME of our phone functions to work, but I'm having a bear of a time figuring out what I need. Can I get this phone working with this system, or should I stop fighting and just give it it's own line?
The phone line does come in via RJ11 to each office
Nortel Norstar/Meridian PBX system, and I'm hooking a Polycom Soundstation 2W phone up to it. Thanks for your time spiceheads!

    VOIP8551B from Philips looks nice but I need a good conference phone in the base unit together with a wireless phone as well. Is there such a set? I am not looking for a USB connected one. I need a one that do not need a computer (usb) to work.

    Hi Matt,
    There is known defect about DTMF at FXS of UC320W through FXO. We have a beta image which resolves it. If you would like to use it, please send me an email at [email protected] and let me know your CCO ID. I will post the image for you to download.

  • Advice on converting analog Hi8mm tapes to digital

    Hi,
    I am looking for advice on converting some Hi8mm analog video tapes to digital. They are not my tapes but I would still prefer to obtain a good quality transfer. I may do some editing on a few of them in PRE and would like to maintain the ability to edit them in the future.
    At present, I've bought a Roxio easyVHStoDVD USB converter which states it can capture in DV-AVI format but doesn't actually appear able to do so. Results so far at capturing have been finicky at best but I'm still working on it but am wary because the format captured is not DV-AVI.
    I've read several people here suggesting using an ADS Pyro A/D Firewire converter. Would that be a better, less troublesome route to go? And what other tips does anyone have in doing an A/D conversion?
    Thanks,
    Paul

    The workflow that you outline is good for archiving the material, but not so good for later editing that material. As Paul_LS states, a DVD-video will use MPEG-2 encoding. Material and quality will be forever lost. These DVD's are good for doing a backup of the material on tape, but the best quality will result from editing the Captured DV-AVI Type II material. Get an external HDD, instead, and copy those files over to it for later editing.
    If you need to do much correction to the Captured material, especially color and exposure work, you might want to look into the Canopus 300, which allows one to do more at the Caputre stage with regards to color and density. The 100 will do a great job of straight Capture, but all corrections will need to be done in PE later.
    For a similar Project, with 34 VHS tapes (all sorts of film rates, EP, LP and SP, I did a quick archival copy to DVD (I used my Panasonic VHS-DVD deck for this), and then did a Capture to DV-AVI Type II for all tapes, logging each with details and notes on what each scene was and where it was located, via Timecode. This was all done, while the Capture was being made, and these notes were invaluable, when it came time to actually do the edits.
    Using the DV-AVI Type II files (stored on about 4 2TB external (FireWire 800) hard discs, I then Imported just what I needed to create 17 finished DVD's from the tapes. During the edit, I archived each Project to another set of external HDD's, because I will need to do extensive editing for a finished set of DVD's for the two subjects, whose lives were recorded on those 34 tapes. Again, I kept notes on these files, so I know exactly where every scene is located. I can still go back to the Captures, but as I have doine the color grading, and density correction on the next phase of files, those would be the ones that I'd want to use.
    In this Project, the biggest help was my "shot sheet," that contained all details of every shot. It saved me countless hours of searching, just to locate a particular scene. If you need a "shot sheet," let me know, and I'll share a PDF of the one that worked for me.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Conference Phone 8831 with 7.1(3)

    Hi,
    Is there anyway to add Conference Phone 8831 to CUCM 7.1.3?
    in datasheets it is only for CUCM 7.1.5+,

    It depends on what CUCM you running whether it is restricted or unrestricted, you can find it with the help of below link. If CUCM is installed as restricted then you must go for restricted version (UCSInstall_UCOS_7.1.5.35901-1.sgn.iso) only.
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/discussion/12079741/how-find-installed-cucm-iso-restricted-or-unrestricted
    If you plan well, then it is not a difficult activity its like device pack installation just you need to switch the version after new iso installation and you dont need to reconfigure anything except frimware; if you dont want to update the firmwares then you can revert back the firmware names in device default.

  • Analog receiver instead of digital HD receiver

    I retired comcast as my provider for HD - TV and Wi-Fi and agreed on a contract for Triple Bundle covering:
    Land Line
    Cell Phone
    Internet
    HD TV.
    When the Verizon technician left, I wondered about the amount of cables he had left behind consecutive to the fact the picture quality on my Samsung HD TV was poor concurrent to the sound quality being very poor.
    I called a friend this morning to do an audit only to find the receiver box sent to me via the technician Gregg Palmer was an old Motorola Analog Box.
    I ask you men and women at Verizon if this is not short changing......What is? I demand that this old analog box be replaced with a digital HD box immediately - 1, Verizon to pay for my friend who is an expert at Home Theatre System to run his diagnostics to make sure I am not short changed again - 2.
    I also demand this work be completed latest by close of business tomorrow or I plan to cancel my order.
    Thank you,

    I don't know where you got your information, but Verizon is fully digital and all the boxes (with the exception of the DCT-700 digital adapter and the QIP2500 SD box) have HDMI digital outputs.  If you got a 6xxx or 7xxx DVR or a 7100 HD box then all of them have digital (HDMI) outputs.  The installer may have used component (which is analog 108i capable) since there is a history of Samsung TVs having HDMI handshake issues.

  • No Center/Sub from Audigy using Klipsch Promedia 5.1 (analog) - NOT a CMSS/digital output qu

    <FONT face=Garamond>I am receiving no center/sub output from my Audigy Platinum card. I have had the card installed on the same system (P4 3.0/ASUS P4800 Mobo/Win XP Pro SP2) for a couple of years with no problems. I recently began experiencing intermittent loss of my center/sub channel. Since I have not changed the connections in quite some time, I was able to rule out an improper output connection. Also, I was able to independently test the speakers themselves and the center and sub are both functioning. Additionally, I switched my Klipsch volume/channel output controller to headphone mode and ran the Creative Speaker diagnostic and I hear four channels (FR/FL/RR/RL) in the headphones (as I do with my front and rear speakers) but I <EM>do not</EM> receive any signal for the center channel (i.e., no "center channel" speech signal). Based on all of the above, I am certain that the speakers are functioning correctly (I am of course using them in analogue mode), there is no "switch" on the rear of the subwoofer for 2/2., all of my Creative and windows software are configured for 5. audio. I have uninstalled and reinstalled all of the creative drivers and software (using Driver Cleaner Pro in Windows Safe Mode) and reinstalled from my original Audigy CD and then performed a complete Auto Update from the Soundblaster.com site. <Still no center/sub even in diagnostic test!!!!
    <FONT face=Garamond color=#ff0000 size=4>
    I want to be clear: I am not confused about CMSS 5. gaming/audio issues; I believe this is purely a soundcard output issue. Despite all the grousing I read about the Creative driver series, I have been most happy with the Audigy Plat card. It has performed extremely well with the Klipsch 5. in gaming, DVD, and audio contexts for several years through numerous driver updates. I know how to configure the settings to get true 5. in any context. However, now I am completely stumped. Is there anything I have overlooked or might try so I do not have to conclude that this great card has just "crapped out" and now needs to be replaced?
    Thanks for listening.

    <SPAN>Thank you! I had my digital coax connected there with an adapter, but since that can only carry ac-3 and stereo signals im better of using direct 5 chan ( i don?t watch movies on my PC... that?s what the home theater is for) Most games use EAX or some other direct sound, so ill stick with 5. direct analog. who would have thought the digital jack was also for center/sub heh.

  • Analog sound signal no digital sound

    I have a A660-BT2G25 laptop which includes DOLBY® Advanced Audio.  I connected it via an HDMI cable to the back of my Denon receiver and set the receiver to receive either digital sound input or analog sound input from the laptop that I am currently using as part of my entertainment center. All items in my device manager are operating properly (the system shows NVIDIA High Definition Audio under sound four identical times with all divers identical in each, all with normal operation & no conflicts-not sure if this is normal). The computer recognizes the Receiver as an Denon AVAMP-3 in the sound setup in Control Panel. Further,  I have set it as the default and run test after test. The properties there indicate the device is operating normally and shows DTS, Dolby Digital and Dolby Digital Plus. w/HDCP supported, up to 192 sampling rate, 16 & 24 bit. Here is the rub. My receiver is only receiving analog signals under PCM (analog signal) and not DTS (digital) so while the sound is good and clear per my receiver upgrading the signal, there is no digital splitting of the signal to the 5.1 channels. If I force the receiver to take only DTS signals over the HDMI cable there is no sound at all. There is nothing wrong with the receiver. Anybody have any suggestions???

    Hi, I just purchased a Mac Pro and am running 10.5.2. I am seeing the exact same behaviour when using the optical digital out from the Mac Pro to a Teac Receiver. It takes about 5 seconds for the audio to start playing from a "silence". If there is continuous playback there are no problems, but if there is ever a significant pause in the audio the receiver shows "unlock" on the display and stops playing out audio.
    It certainly does seem like the digital stream is getting interrupted which then causes an issue with the receiver.
    I haven't been able to find a solution yet.

  • I want to use two analog channels and one digital simultaneously

    Hello and thanks in advance for reading this!
    What I am trying to do is generate two different signals from the output channels of my interface card (PCI6024E) and simultaneously use a digital line so that I can switch two tranzistors (one NPN, one PNP) which actually control the "flow" of the two signals. This means that both signals need to be "active" while the VI is running and at the same time whenever I want to choose the signal not in use I need to use the digital line so that I switch the tranzistors and I get the desired signal.
    I have already created a VI which activates a digital line and while I was trying to add with the NI-DAQmx Assistant the first digital output, I discovered that it c
    ould not be used simultaneously, because there was the error code -200324 saying that "Device not available in NI-DAQmx. It is possible that the device is being used by Traditional NI-DAQ or that the device is being reset."
    I did reset the device but as I get it when VI runs, it cannot have an active digital channel and an analog output channel at the same time (not to mention two analog channels). Correct me (And make my day if I am wrong but this seems to be the case. Thanks a lot for your time!

    Hey Shootist000,  Thanks for the replies.  First off, I am actually okay if we both have each other applications so I am not concerned about that. It is still unclear from what you have said as to whether I can in fact, use these two separte time machine backup to create two separate profiles on the new hard drive.  If that in fact can be done, then - will it create two copies of the apps we both have in the ROOT of the drive as well as placing all the ones we each have separately?
    And reading your second reply, makes me think that maybe the partition is the way to go to begin with and then down the road - after I am in the new iMac, I could reformat the iMac 27 with only one partion and restore my son's latest back prior to the reformat thus giving him full access to the 2 TB of the drive.
    If this is still making sense, does this mean :
    replace the 1TB with a 2TB - but have it partitione - 1.5 TB & 500 GB.
    Install(Restore using Time Machine) my latest back up prior to the  1.5 partition
    Install (Restore using Time Machine) my son's latest back up prior to the 500 gig partition
    Lastly, in order for us both to be using the partioned computer - I am assuming Switch user can no longer be used - so would we need to restart and select our respective partions in order to use the computer?   And if so, how would we each be able to be using time machine to back up - two separte external hard drives - with each one dedicated to only one partition? Or ?
    Thanks so much.
    Ironically, I am only trying to do this so that I don't need to manually install all his apps, setting, games, blah blah for this temporary period.  :-)

  • BT and Java - Btl2Cap Connection (Mobile phone and Digital Pen)

    Hi!
    First a short Introduction:
    For a project I have to stream data from Maxell Penit DP201(4.1) to a mobile device (over a midlet). Data Connection is built up over Bluetooth.
    My Questions are: Is btl2cap the right method for connecting digital pen and mobile phone?
    If yes, is the btl2cap string correct?
    The pens device adress is 00-07-CF-56-05-5D
    Does anyone know a sample application like this I want to program?
    Structure;
    package /
    Midlet
    Class extending thread
    Here's the code:
    public void run() {
        //Bluetooth
        //String connString = "btspp://0007808303AA:1;master=false";
        String connString = "btl2cap://localhost:0007cf56055d;ReceiveMTU=512;TransmitMTU=512";
        System.out.println(connString);
        try {
                LocalDevice local = LocalDevice.getLocalDevice( ) ;
    // build ServiceRecord
Discoverable(DiscoveryAgent.GIAC);
    L2CAPConnectionNotifier service = (L2CAPConnectionNotifier)
    Connector.open(connString);
    ServiceRecord sr = local.getRecord(service);
    // accept Connection
    L2CAPConnection connection = (L2CAPConnection ) service.acceptAndOpen( );
            } catch (Exception e) {
                e.printStackTrace();
            }Thanks to all who can help me to reach the next step in my project.
    Best regards

    Hi,
    The reason for the compilation error is that the IDE is not able to find the jar file where bluetooth api is packed. try to put the jar file in lib directory of the project. Some IDE generates class files even though there are some compilation errors in java file.
    So it is better to resolve compilation errors before putting it in the device.
    The reason why the app freezes in the device is that you have not used a seperate thread to do the inquiry, try to use a thread where the inquiry will be done so that the apps main thread will respond to the user input.
    Hope this help you.
