Analytics Path in server where OBIEE 11g is installed

Hi All,
My requirement is:
For the reports developed, I would like to give my users a user manual kind of document , as a link on my Dashboards.
I know, we can achieve this using *'Link and Image'* feature.
But I am not aware, where I can place the document(.pdf format) and the image(.jpg format) file in the server where OBIEE is installed.
Please help.

Should OBIEE 11g be installed on a machine having weblogic already installed?

Hi Experts,
We have weblogic server already installed on one of the machines( It got installed when Hyperion was installed)
Can OBIEE 11g be installed on the same machine with its own weblogic server?

So If I install OBIEE with software only install and then configure it with Configuration assistant, Would I be able to see the same stuff in console and the enterprise manager, which I would normally see if had installed OBIEE with its own weblogic?
Also, what would be the console link in that case? for OBIEE with its own weblogic .. link is http://servername.com:7001/console/login/LoginForm.jsp
And looks like I will always have to coordinate with the Hyperion team as in like restarting of the server and other tasks like config changes.
Or can you tell me the pros and cons of having a single weblogic server.. cause we have different team for hyperion.

Removing Admin Server in OBIEE 11g on AIX 6.1

Hello all,
1. We had installed OBIEE 11g software only install and configured a instance which we had to uninstall later on. We had followed the steps provided by oracle for uninstallation of instance - http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/bi.1111/e10539/c6_deinstall.htm#CIHIDHEB
2. We had also deleted the contents in bifoundation_domain.
3. Then we had deleted Managed server entry from console.
4. Then we executed config.sh for another instance and the port allocated to the new console is 7002, with a new set of Admin and Managed server.
Kindly suggest a way to delete AdminServer of the first instance, where console is using port number 7001.

Before going to install obiee11g,
just clean all existing obiee11g install registry, RCU Schema(DEV_BIPLATDFROM/DEV_MDS),
physical folders,
temp/tmp and services.msc (admin server/bi_server, OPMN/node manager -->delete services) , ODBC - obiee11g existing connection remove it via registry then reboot u r pc and then start install ...

Any experienced how to enable SSO(Single Sign On) in OBIEE 11g, when the application platform is microsoft instead of Oracle EBS and the data source from SQL server 2005?

Separate Server for OBIEE 11G Presentation Server

In version 10 of OBIEE many people put the Presentation Server and the OBIEE Application Server on separate servers. Is this architecture possible in OBIEE 11G using the new Fusion framework?

can your try to start presentation services alone via OPMN command, and then check the sawlog0.log lastest log message..
example mine,
D:\Oracle\Middleware\instances\instance1\bin>opmnctl startproc ias-component=coreapplication_obips1
opmnctl startproc: starting opmn managed processes...
check the staus and also log message
still if its not working try to reboot your server and then "start all services"

OBIEE 11g SampleApp installing error

Hi Everyone,
I am getting following error messages in EM while deploying SampleApp from oracle for OBIEE 11g.
SEVERE: Element Type: BI_INSTANCE, Element Id: coreapplication, Operation Result: FAILED_TO_START, Detail Message: Error in starting one or more components of BI Instance; Please check the server log files for detailed message

Make sure all the BI services are up and running before deploying the RPD in the Enterprise manager. You can check to see if all the services are running by going to the system maintainance tab in Enterprise manager under Business Intelligence Domain. After making sure all the services are up and running, try to upload the RPD again, and make sure the RPD is not corrupted.

Changed the domain of the server where BO Edge is installed

We changed the domain of the server where BO Edge resided and the domain of our database server. We are not getting the error message "Failed to register with name server. Reason: a server of this name already exists". This occurs whenever we try to start any of the servers from the CCM. What are or did we do wrong?

My understanding is that Edge is the same base code as XI 3.0 and it shouldn't have any errors when changing domain name or hostname. I don't have this version installed but in the CCM is there a CMS (+other services) or a SIA?
I'm not sure what changing the domain on the DB server would do, What type of DB are you using?

Issue with the drill path in Hierarchy in OBIEE 11g

Hi ,
We have upgraded to 11g(11.1.16.6) and an issue we are facing is that the drill path for the time hierarchy is not same.
In 10g its Year >Quarter >Month>Date.
BUt in 11g its rendering as Year >Quarter >Month>Week Number >Date.
The week number is present in the hierarchy defined in the RPD, but the week number has "Use for Display " unchecked.
Not sure why it then is coming up in the drill .

You try to make the changes in the hierarchy as per required,and clear the cache then reload the rpd and then restart the services.

Oracle connection from remote server where oracle client is installed not happening.

I have OBIEE simple install in my machine with an Admin Server. Now is there any way i can upgrade that to Enterprise install without Uninstalling and re-installing.

no you cant upgrade from simple to enterprise..you have to do a full install

How to install a new oracle 9i in the same server where a 8i is installed

Hello and sorry for been an inexperience dba.
Now I need to install 9i oracle version in the same server (solaris os-5.9) where is previously installed a 8i. I'm reading the installation guide and I know that I have to make two different oracle home, and then two different owners .
My problem is when I've seen the kernel parameters and their permissions and of course all of them have the owner the old oracle user.
Do you know if I have to change some of this parameters?
How to do that, and where can I find some guide to follow ?

Changed OBIEE 11G IP Address

Good Afternoon
We changed your Server IP address where OBIEE 11g was installed on.
I am able to start all our services but when i try to login to Analytics it gets an Authentication failure.
None of our users created in Console can login.
Any suggestions?

OBIEE 11g Report-When drilling down to lower level, totals are not matching

Hi All,
I am creating a report in Analytics 7.9.6.3 , OBIEE 11g - Let’s say Budget Cost/Actual Cost based on the Date Dimension
Have selected the Fiscal Year Dim, Fact Budget Cost, Fact Actual Cost
FY BCost ACost
2011 100 120
2012 150 140
Total 250 260
But here when I am drilling down from Year to Quarter and Period - The values are not matching with the totals....

Fiscal Year, Fiscal Quarter Budget Cost and Actual Cost are not returning correct results – When selecting cost's by fiscal year, or filtering on a specific fiscal year, the amount returned does not equal the fiscal year total;
when I am drilling down to Quarter and Period Level the BCost & ACosts are bumping the Numbers as above and not matching with totals
Any suggestions?

Check out the query in both the times.Execute against database and try to sum the data for quarter/period and compare it with Year data.
Just try to differentiate is it a report total that is getting wrong or the data in the database table itself is getting wrong stored.
