Analyzer Reports Usage Monitoring

Is there a way to monitor the usage of the various Analyzer Reports. Who accesses what reports, how often, time spent,... I know there is Essbase logging info available, but that would not typically tell you which screens are being used. Just curious. Thanks in advance.

  • Broadband usage monitor lies!!!

I gather this topic might be a bit of a dead horse but i'm beyond frustrated. Signed up to Option 2 Broadband Sept 12. Recieve an e-mail Oct 16 stating I have used 32gb of my 40gb monthly allowance. Checked online usage monitor on Oct 21 which showed I had used 41.84gb. Swithed off computer & I pod & router for 24 hours then checked usage monitor which now showed 43.4gb.
At this point, I should add that only 2 of us live in this house, we don't download music or movies, only using the internet for browsing & checking e-mails. We both work full time, not getting home till 7pm. Disregarding the obviously fictional figure of 41.84gb, the jump to 43.4gb is inaccurate as no-one used the internet in that time. The password is stupidly complicated so impossible to guess. There are only 2 people with access to it.
I have been round the houses on the phone trying to speak to the customer help who have been useless. Been on the phone for 3 days speaking to help desk, technical team, cancellation team. I was told the matter was escalated to level 2 (whatever that means) and eventually was told my phone line was being tested/monitored for 24hours and I would be called back after 48hours with answers.
Everytime I phone back, I'm met with the same 'Oh, we can see you've gone over your monthly limit but we can upgrade you....') (I wonder why).
I'm more than happy to cancel but BT are trying to hold me ransom to a cancellation fee of 270 pounds. On principle, why should I pay that??? I'm just about ready to go to Ofcom as BT can't seem to get their act together. Does anyone else have any ideas on any other solutions?

    Hi. Welcome to the forums.
Just for info, the online usage meter is not real time, so it's likely that when you turned off your router for 24 hours, there was still usage for the time from midnight to when you turned it off. That usage will show on the meter the following day. You will notice that the meter shows the day before at 23:59. That probably accounts for the discrepancy there.
As for the amount you're using, can you say if you're using any form of catchup TV, games downloads or Skype video chat ?
I hope you don't mind me asking about your iPod usage (do you mean iPhone or iPad ?) ?
My usage is very low, and despite doing a few large downloads, my current usage is only 13.9GB - and in general much less than 6GB per month. General browsing and emails will be a very small amount of usage.
You may have read other forum reports, in that there have been a fair few new connections with huge initial usage meter readings. I have not seen any feedback to explain this, whether it was the user who had not included certain usage and only considered downloads (for example streaming TV of around 1GB/hour may not have been thought of as download), or that the was a meter fault at the beginning of their initial service.
I still think it's an avenue that hasn't been properly investigated.

  • Broadband Usage Monitor impossible figure

I appreciate there have been several threads on this topic but I believe I have the best example yet of how BT have broadband usage monitoring totally wrong and I am wondering how far reaching this is.
My situation is as follows. The usage monitor is showing I have used 3.72gB in November. Unfortunately for BT, I powered down my modem on Sunday night when I left and locked the country cottage and returned to London. The modem has thus been powered down for all of November.
I have just spent an hour being passed from pillar to post (India back to the UK and back to India) before calling the only sentient beings anyone ever gets to talk to; the BT cancellation line. The latter fully understand the problem, even going so far as to agree with me that they should worry that this could be endemic.
I have a fault reference and will stay on this particular case and report back.

    Hi Marc.
This is a very interesting post. Are you still in London ?, and is there any possibility of anyone being able to use the connection ? (e.g. a cleaner, that sort of thing. All they have to do is turn it on and connect via an ethernet cable .....)
Have you used BTFon/Openzone by any chance ? I ask this in case that usage has been attached to your figures. 3.27GB at BTFon speed would equate to around 16hours continuous download use. That would indeed be serious and possibly widespread.
If not, it could be an isolated situation of a crossed account with someone else, or even equipment failure (or crossed if that's possible) at the exchange.

  • BT Broadband Usage Monitor Wildly Inaccurate

I have BT Option 1 and a 10GB BB limit which should be OK for our limited surfing/e-mail usage.
17 days into this months cycle, the Usage Monitor shows 58.9GB and has risen by 14.47GB in the last 5 days. During the same period, the usage monitor on my Home Hub shows a usage of just 641MB.
I'm pretty certain that I don't have a virus, external parasite or unintentional internal leak (I'm confident that the hub records all data in & out of my property anyway so would include this if I did)
I have a 10 digit alpha-numeric password known only to me and can identify all of the MAC addresses that are/have connected to my router during the period.
Has anyone experienced this problem AND managed to persuade BT that it isn't leakage/fraud at the user end?

    Hi. Welcome to the forums.
I personally believe that there is something wrong with the online system with regard certain conditions or some form of failure or accounting system error.
Your figures clearly are wildly higher than your expected figures. Even if there is no increase in the amount used this month - you are looking at £50 for the extra usage.
I have mentioned it before, but not sure if anything has been done. A kind moderator should perhaps take on a couple of users reporting these high figures, and try to get to the bottom of it.
It does look like cross contamination of data usage somewhere.

Hi,We run Analyzer 5.0.3. We are planning to go to Analyzer 7.2. Did any body go thru this upgrade? If so, what is your opinion and tips that may help. Also, we never had Analyzer development environment. We are planning on having Analyzer development environment. In our installation, all of the Analyzer reports are centrally developed based on user requests. Once we have development and production at the same Analyzer version, if a report is developed in the development system, how can the report be mirateed/moved from development to production system?Thank you for your help,Prasant

  • Usage monitors different

Over the last three days my BT Broadband account shows that I have used 8.5GB.  My home hub manager shows only 1.0GB (and that it has been connected for 13 days).
Can anyone explain the difference between to two figures?  1.0GB feels about right.
BT Help Desk just take the attitude that we are right and you are wrong.  When pressed to explain why the figures are different they just transfer me to a number that never gets answered.

BT Home Hub 4 (Type A) | Software version 4.7.5.1.83.8.130.1.17
I am not using YouView at all.
The BT HH 4 A resets the upload and download data figures when they reach 4.3 GB. without re-connecting.
What has happened is that if the usage monitor says you have used 8.5 GB in the last three days the Hub has probably reset at least twice in the last 13 days and therefore should be reading at least 9.6 GB.
The Usage Monitor is probably correct in your case and you need to investigate why you are using more data than you think.
It is essential that you read your Hub stats at least once a day and preferably take screen prints.

  • The BB usage monitor

Is it just my browser or is it a general thing. When I log in to check the usage monitor it is a full day behind, which rather defeats the object. For instance, this morning at 07:00am,I checked and it only gave me the usage till the end of the 20th March  leaving out yesterday.I will be eventually upgrading to the next level of Broadband usage ie the 40Gig tariff, but in the meantime does anybody know of an onscreen monitor (from BT or anybody) that can be minimised to run in the toolbar? Cheers Kenny

The BT monitor shows usage up to the previous day, but it doesn't update until the morning. Don't know if there's a specific time for the update but mine showed up to yesterday just after 9am.
Third party monitors are available and this one is often recommended: http://www.thinkbroadband.com/tbbmeter.html. Their drawback is that they only apply to the computer they're installed on, which is of limited use if several devices use your connection. Whether any can be minimised to show real time use will need some more research.
You can click the white star next to this message if you think it was helpful.

  • BB usage monitor for 1 month ?

OK, just found the account linked usage monitor, and can see what has been recorded month to date.
Allowing for the fact it's a new tool, it would be nice to see previous months' data too, to assess trending vs. best service selection.
I can't see a way of selecting a date range, say from when the tool started until today though - is this available elsewhere? I presume the data is captured somehow by BT for quarterly billing support.

    Hi.
A number of "us" have already pointed this out. You can keep your own figures of course, say in a spreadsheet. The only problem is the silly fault with the system (not yet acknowledged) in that the figures for last day of the month (and hence the overall previous month's figures) are not available.
The meter shows the usage up to midnight the previous day - but does not d this when the day is 1st of the month. At the beginning of November, the meter was reset and the figures for 31st October (and hence the whole month) were not available.
The meter was supposed to go live at the beggining of October, but was delayed until 4th. It's possible that the flaw as seen above may have caused a problem and delayed the implementation.

  • BB usage monitor - random number generator yet aga...

A few months ago the BB usage monitor told me I had usage levels that were simply not possible.  When I dug deeper, everyone I work with who has BT also got the dire warning they were over their limit that month - even those with 40GB limits that were usually nowhere near and also had not changed their habits.
I got BT to admit they could not explain the bizzarre spike in my use.
But guess what's happened this month?  Double nomal usage again - which again can't be possible.  I don't play games, uplaod photos......just a few emails.
Anyone else found this?  And if so,  what can we do?  I refuse to be charged wrongly.

Last time the usage monitor went mad I found everyone I knew with BT had the same problem. So it must be them, not us.  When is this going to be fixed.  Searching through the forum this seems to happen a lot.  Feels just like a money making scheme for BT to me.
If you analyse most of the posts on this topic you will find that it is actually quite a small number that claim to have this issue and most if not all have not checked their usage against the home hub data. A good number are also unaware of the data transfer involved in common activities like Skype video calls, Iplayer etc.   If the Usage Monitor is incorrect then the hub data can easily prove it.
You will do the community a great service if you can show you have a genuine problem.  I have been trying for two years and found that the Usage Monitor has been correct when compared with the Hub data using 4 types of hub( 2a, 2b,3a,3b) .
There does appear to be issues with some new accounts and some BT Vision users but apart from 2 cases in the forum no convincing evidence of a real problem.
I agree absolutely. I have asked people in this forum to do just this to check the hub stats with the online meter. There are indeed very few cases where some have done this.
In the case I've mentioned a few times, my friend did do this and proved that there was something wrong.

We understand how important it is to monitor usage, and as you're not able to view the usage monitor we will not charge you for going over your usage limit this month. You don't need to do anything, we'll take care of that."
Well, finally BT's complete lack of ability to manage their core business is paying off.....can download/will download.....FANTASTIC!!!
And if you aren't affected by this and Do go over your limit...I'd complain to ofcom....you can't treat one customer one way and another a more preferential way....
Oh, and if you pay for anything more than 10MB download per month, I'd also ask for a discount......
Thank you BT...may your utter incompetence reign supreme forever....

  • BEx Analyzer report "New Formula", "Scaling Factor" property not working

    Hi Experts,
I have created a New Formula(Ex:- Dispatches * 2) in BEx Analyzer report. The result of the "New Formula" is 2000. When I maintain Scaling Factor as "1000" to the  New Formula properties, the result should be 2 but here 2000 is coming again.
When I maintain this property to the existing keyfigure in Analyzer report, it is working fine.
Please help me in this whether Scaling Factor can be applied to the New Formula or not in BEx Analyzer report. If it works, what changes we have to make to the New formula.
SAPKW73010 is applied already to SAP BW-730
    Please see the attachment.

    Sree,
Is the variable ABC the new one that you've created with Scaling factor setting given? The message you get on doing a syntax check on the query indicates that settings are ignored for use beyond the query.
And if this is the case, this is a known issue.
However such settings will work on existing keyfigures as it is in your case.
What you can hence do for this new variable is that if you are developing reports on top of this bex query, you can make the scaling factor setting at the report level.
Let me know if this works for you.
