Anchor mobility configuration getting lost in wlc 5508 ios code 7.4.100.0

It is observed that in WLC 5508 , ios 7.4.100.0 ,  mobility anchor configuration on wlan  is getting lost .  we configure anchor ip address on  guest wlan > mobility anchor >  Switch IP Address (Anchor).
We have configured the template on NCS 2.0 to push the anchor mobility ip address on all WLC
Has anyone oberved this behavoiur. We have more than 100 WLC  , and  everyweek  mobility anchor configuration is lost on some WLC having code  7.4.100.0.

I am having this exact same problem.  I am running 7.3 on 5508 WLC.   My remote site LAP's are using Flex (HREAP).  The initial access point that my laptop associates to connects with no problem, as soon as I wander out of range of the initial LAP and into the area of another access point, I lose data connectivity.   The was validated like the original post as I start a constant ping on the LAN and watch as the ping latency increases and then ping replies stop.  The only way to correct the problem is resetting of the wireless adapter on the laptop.  Side note my DroidX has no problem wandering from AP to AP.
Laptop: Windows 7 32bit
I then returned to my home site and test where I have a secondary controller and the LAP's are configured for local mode, no problems roaming from access point to access point.   Validated with constant ping test.  The pings drop for a second and re-
continues as the laptop reconnects.
**Edit: I am going to try the removing the DHCP Addr. Assignment required option, and report that back to the TAC engineer.

The problem is in deed solved by turning the "DHCP Address Required" but why?

We have reloaded the configuration on the controller. What might be cause for this.??
    Regards,

Did you try to factory default the WLC and rebuild it from scratch?  You shouldn't have any issues when upgrading, but when you upgrade and the configuration gets corrupt, there is noting you can do, except to rebuild the WLC.  If this is part of an HA AP SSO setup, then you need to make sure you reset the peer and then the primary.  Question is.... are you running HA AP SSO and if not, is the WLC working fine after a reboot?

  • Wlc 5508 ios upgrade in ha mode

I am having 2 wlc 5508 in HA mode, and want to upgrade ios from 7.5 to 7.6
Current IOS file status in primary and secondary.
    Primary  WLC IOS :  AIR-CT5500-K9-7-5-102-0.aes
    Standby WLC IOS :  AIR-CT5500-LDPE-K9-7-5-102-0.aes
HA WLC ios upgrade procedure is when we  upgrade ios in primary wlc it will push to standby wlc and if earlier ios version match it will accept it.
ISSUE : If you check in wlc status detail I have given upper both has same ios version but IOS file are different and currently in HA mode and working.
Now I am trying to upgrade IOS it is not allow me to upgrade it.
    Giving below error :
    TFTP receive complete... extracting components.
    Checking Version Built.
    Image version check passed.
Informing the standby to start the transfer download process
Waiting for the Transfer & Validation result from Standby.

    Standby - Checking Version Built.
Standby - Image version check passed.
Standby - Transfer failure : Upgrade from non LDPE to LDPE software is not allowed.
    Please download AIR-CT5500-K9-x-x-x-x.aes image instead.
Transfer & Validation on Standby failed.
Transfer download failed both on Active & Standby, Please retry download
    (Cisco Controller) >
Please suggest how I can upgrade IOS in HA mode.

    Primary WLC IOS : AIR-CT5500-K9-7-5-102-0.aes
    Standby WLC IOS : AIR-CT5500-LDPE-K9-7-5-102-0.aes
This won't work and you'll see from the error message.  Your standby WLC has a particular firmware loaded with LDPE enabled.  So first, you need to answer if you need LDPE or not.
Both firmwares has to match, including LDPE.  If you need LDPE, the your primary has to be loaded with LDPE before you can proceed.  If you don't need LDPE, then you need to downgrade the secondary to non-LDPE version before you can proceed.

  • Am I getting SCAMMED? Where's my code for the $100 Trade in Offer?

I recieved emails for the entire month of September - "Trade in your old phone for a Smart Phone and recieve a $100 visa gift card."
So I thought about it and on Friday September 30th, I went down to my local Verizon Store to upgade my phone.
I was eligiable in May of 2011 for the two year upgrade.  The Verizon representative checked my phone and my account and said that I was eligible for BOTH the two year upgrade AND the $100 Trade-In promotion.
I upgraded to the LG Enlighten (my first smartphone) and added (for the first time) a 2 Gig Data package.
I was told it would take 3 to 5 business days to recieve a TEXT or EMAIL from Verizon with a CODE to begin the TRADE-IN process.
Wll October 7, 2011 (5 full business days) came and went...and guess what?
    NO CODE!!!!
    Why?
So I called Verizon customer service and was told to call 866-870-5445 (the Trade-In Center). Well guess what? They're closed. Only open Monday through Friday.
Now I am reading all these posts where Verizon is not sending people codes, losing phones and giving less than the $100 credit and boy is it making me MAD.
How hard is it to send a text message with the CODE?  Why don't I have it?  They have the right EMAIL on file.  I've confirmed it three times now...and still no code.
Just TXT it to my NEW PHONE!...same number and Verizon knows it.  What's the problem?
I'm not happy about this.  This needs to be handled much better.

In case any of you didn't see my first post this is the latest on my $100 Trade In Gift Card Nightmare:

I never received an email, phone, letter or any other correspondence from Verizon regarding the 2nd phone we sent in so I started calling them.
First call 12/5/11:VerizonÂ… havenÂ’t received phone yet. I gave them the tracking number as I was tracking it online myself. It was delivered in September! Apology for the delay it will be processed and mailed to you tomorrow 12/6/11. NO CARD, NO EMAIL, NO PHONE CALL.
Second call 1/11/12 Verizon: it went to the wrong department but we will submit the request and have it mailed out to you with in the next 24 to 48 hours. (I verified the same person, at the same address, signed for the receipt of my returned phone) NO CARD, NO EMAIL, NO PHONE CALL.
Third call 1/17/12 Verizon: (this is now the 5th person I have talked to) I get transferred to “STERLING” a so called “supervisor” in the Trade In Department in Nashville. I am, again, told the phone was sent to our donation department so we can not send you the $100. He was rude and arrogant and I finally hung up on him.
In a rage I sent 4 emails, one right after the other, to the "Contact Us" email on their web page threatening a Class Action Suite!. (sorry I didn't copy and paste them to word and save them) The next day I got this email email.

I attempted to contact you today 1/20/2012 at approximately 8:45 pm MDT at the provided contact number and unfortunately missed speaking to you directly. I hope you receive my voicemail message. I am sorry to learn you did not receive the $100.00 Verizon Wireless gift card. I can definitely assist you with your inquiry regards to the $100.00 Verizon Wireless Gift card.
In tracking the status on the Trade in Website (Submission ID: 5268135 ), the incorrect envelope might have been used when returning the device to our Trade in Department. Which is why the device was received in our Central warehouse and not the Trade in Department. I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I can apply the credit of $100.00 to your wireless account for the second phone that was mailed to the incorrect Department.
Please contact me on my direct line, my name again is Monica. My direct line is 505-999-5300 extension 6998. I am in the office Monday -Friday. My office hours are as follows:

    (me) Hello Monica,
I am very sorry I missed your call on Friday and by the time I checked my email you were gone.
I left you a VM at 12:03pm today; forgetting about the time change and your hours.
I will be available to take your call until 5:00pm Pacific Time today and will expecting your call.
Just so you understand and I to make myself perfectly clear Monica, I absolutely DO NOT want you to reiterate Verizon’s excuse as to why this entire situation occurred.  I have wasted enough of my precious time on this ridiculousness.  I just want you to tell me you have credited my account the $100.00 and give me a conformation number.
After seeing the outpour of other Verizon Wireless customers posting the same anger and frustration at the lack of customer service and dissatisfaction with your Trade In Program I just hope that someone in charge of this whole debacle will take responsibility for the abuse your loyal customers have gone through and fix it!!!!
As I said, I will look forward to your call and the resolution.

  • WLC 5508 Configuration

    Hi Team,
Just i want to know below configuration are possible with WLC 5508.
Can we define specific timing to keep an account enabled. For e.g. 9:00AM to 9:00 PM from <x> date to <y> date?
    -          Can we authenticate the “lobby admin” user through TACACS?
    -          Can we enforce password change for guest user when he login for the first time?
    Regards,
    Jana

Can we define specific timing to keep an account enabled. For e.g. 9:00AM to 9:00 PM from date to date?
ans:- Yes through if you integrate WLC through ISE then its possible:-
Step 1 Choose Administration > Web Portal Management > Sponsor Group Policy.
Step 2 Click the Action icon and choose an option.
Step 3 Enter a name for the new policy.
Step 4 Choose the identity group to be associated with the policy.
Step 5 (Optional) Choose additional conditions by choosing one of these options:
•Select Existing Condition from Library to choose an existing simple, compound, or time and date condition
•Create New Condition to choose an attribute, operator, and value from the expression builder.
Step 6 Choose the sponsor group to associate with this sponsor group policy.
    Step 7 Click Save.
    -          Can we authenticate the “lobby admin” user through TACACS?
for this you need ACS as ISE dont suport TACACS right now.
    -          Can we enforce password change for guest user when he login for the first time?
    Yes through ISE its possible.

You can do this with Cisco's ISE, but not all just using the WLC lobby admin feature
Can  we define specific timing to keep an account enabled. For e.g. 9:00AM to 9:00 PM  from date to date?
    > No... the lobby admin can create only from the start of the guest credential creation and can set how many days, hours, minutes, seconds, until that credential expires.
    -          Can  we authenticate the “lobby admin” user through TACACS?

  • WLC 5508 -7.4.100 mDNS Bonjour snooping

    Hello
Have 7.4 installed and configured for Bonjour Snooping. All is working, but working too well. We have a large campus that house 2 schools and each school is complaining that they can see the other schools AppleTV devices.
I have played around with a few different scenarios to see if I can localize the bonjour traffic.
I guess I am looking to create a logical split for bonjour devices amoung the schools.
Apple came to the school and informed us that the IPAD has a limit of 64 devices that can be seen via the bonjour. At some point we will have over 100 AppleTV added.
so we have 3 wlc 5508's with 7.4.100
we have 2 SSIDs that span the whole campus
using AP groups to segment the floors in buildings
So the schools are logically split with AP groups
Here is what I have tried
I created few mDNS profiles and assigned the services for Apple TV - let's call them school1 and school2
I assign the mDNS profiles to the interfaces dedicated each school
enable snooping on the WLAN with profile of none
The end result is that devices from both schools can be seen.
I tried to create new ssid for apple TVs and a new ssid for 1 schools teachers
I followed the vlan select example
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/wireless/ps4570/products_tech_note09186a0080bb1d7c.shtml
end result is that devices from both schools can be seen
I have tried the mDNS without multicast enabled just like the video shows to no avail - I assume maybe my AP groups might be more complicated then the example of just 2 vlans
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/community/netpro/wireless-mobility/begin-wireless/blog/2013/01/01/wireless-lan-controller-wlc-release-74--bonjour-gateway-configuration-example
I have tried combinations of things, but I must be missing something
In the webinar, Cisco said it will use filtering to restrict which  clients can see which services (Apple TV's, etc). What will Cisco use to  filter Bonjour requests?
    according to this article
    http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/news/network-wifi/3376119/cisco-answers-user-questions-about-upcoming-apple-bonjour-gateway/#ixzz2SIDqFH49
The filtering options are: · Per WLAN/SSID · Per VLAN or AP  Group · Per Interface Group (which is a group of VLANs pooled together).
A Bonjour service policy can be created and applied on any one of  the above criteria. In the future, we will support per-user Bonjour  service policies which will come as a RADIUS attribute from the AAA server.

  • Cisco WLC 5508 - NPS Radius

    Cisco WLC 5508
    Software Version: 7.4.100.0
    Windows Server 2008R2
I've got everything setup on the Windows Server 2008 side of things (certificates, radius clients, etc)
I added the radius server on the WLC, and configured a new WLAN to use it.
Both are on the same subnet.
When trying to conect to the WLAN it kept failing.  I installed wireshark on the server to monitor the radius traffic, and to my surprise there was no radius traffic showing up on the server.  The radius statistics on the WLC are at 0 as well, so it's like the WLC isn't even attempting Radius.
I reverified that the server was enabled on both the security tab and the WLAN itself on the WLC.  Rebooted the controller and the server, all to no avail.  I used a radius test client, and can successfully send radius commands to the server using that utility.
Frustrated, I just kept trying to reconnect on my wireless device, and after about the 15th try, finally I saw radius activity on wireshark.  It rejected my access, but at least I saw activity.  It also registerd radius statistcs on the WLC as well.
So now if I keep trying to connect repeatedly, about every dozen or so times the WLC actually will send a radius request to the server.
What in the world is going on here?

I do have local management users on the controller.
Some hours later I added the option of authenticating management users, for the NPS server. Then logged inn to the management GUI using NPS radius, worked just fine.
However, these commands have been useful to me several times, to make sure unsuccessful requests appear in the Windows Event log:
    auditpol /get /subcategory:"Network Policy Server"
If it shows ‘No auditing’ or just "Success", you can run this command to enable it:
    auditpol /set /subcategory:"Network Policy Server" /success:enable /failure:enable
So now I know that the NPS radius server works, for management access. I will go to the customer's site some other day to test it for 802.1x authentication. If not, I'll do some debugging to decide wihich to blame - the WLC or NPS.

  • Cannot add WLC 5508 to Prime Infrastructure 2.1

    Regards,
I've been migrating / implementing a WCS to PI 2.1. I had several problems at first to add the 11 WLC we have to PI which I could be solving by trying and testing as I have not found many references by Cisco when it comes to troubleshooting when deploying PI.
    I have several queries:
    1. The WCS was added 11 WLC using different SNMP communities are configured on each of them. At first when trying to add the WLC had PI SNMP communication problems. I performed the test to eliminate any of the WLC added to WCS and add it again with some communities already existing R / W without any problem. At the end, I could not add the WLC so I had to create an SNMP community with the IP of Prime in the WLC so that they can be added. Does anyone know what is the cause of this?
    2. I could not add a WLC 5508 IOS 7.3 using this method, even creating an SNMP community and IP mask 0.0.0.0 / 0. No access list or FW in between the WLC These WLC are spread over several countries but i was able to add the other WLC adding a community in each WLC pointing to the IP of Prime. It is similar to this case:
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/discussion/12232506/cannot-add-wlc-5508-v761200-prime-infrastructure-21
    Thanks for the help.

It turns out that this situation was caused by a bug in 7.6.120.0 (CSCuo73572).
TAC handed me an escalation image (7.6.120.16) that fixed this.
Added the controllers sucessfully on the first try.

  • Wlc 5508 multicast/bonjour

    hello,
i have a wlc 5508 with code 7.0.220, with multicast enabled in it and on the lan too.I am having a bit of confusion getting bonjour to work on the wireless side. Looking at some of the cisco docs, i still have some questions on how to get it working in my specific enviroment.
I have the wlc conected to the lan via a port-channel.  2 wlan (ssid1 and ssid2) each wlan maps to a specific vlan (dynamic int), the management int (also used for dynamic ap-manager) on a third vlan (vlan x).
    The requirement:
I need to get Bonjour working between ssid1 and vlan-x, so my wireless clients (in ssid1 can use bonjour with their laptops) can synch between wireless and wired. I know that you can do this within the same wlan (ssid) but in this case, when a user has a laptop wired into the network he cant comunicate to the wireless device. I read about Vlan Select and Multicast Optimization however, from what i understand i need to setup an interface group and just assign my wlan1 and management int to it, correct?
Is there anyone that has this type of setup working? Can you provide some configs/print screens.
Another scenario that may come into play would also be when or if i need a different segment (vlan y) in my lan to also "bonjour" with ssid1? For this i assume i would need to create a dynamic interface on the wlc using the same IP segment and do the a new interface group?
    thanks in advance

I agree go to version 7.4.121.0 I has some strange issues on prior releases. Personally I am running 7.6.120.0 right now but that's mainly due to support for the 3702 access points.

  • WLC 5508 Base-Ap-Count License Inactive

    Hello,
I have two licenses on a WLC 5508 "base-ap-count permenant 100 Count medium Inactive" and "base-ap-count permanent 150 count medium In Use".  Should both the 100 and 150 be added up to make 250? Why is the 100 license inactive?  There is no option to make it active.

    Here is my status:

Both 5 license and 10 license have the dropdown arrow available to delete. Is it ok to delete them?
vWLC came with 5 AP then I added two 5 AP licenses.
