Ancient Relic: Photoshop 6.0

Hello. Ok, I'm desperate here...I still have only 6.0 and I'm trying to do color replacement. I've googled, You-tubed, used a book (remember those?!), but I can't for the life of me get a color replaced. Scenario: I'm putting friend's faces on Shrek and Fiona's bodies and I need to change their human skin tones to match the Ogres'. Please help!!! My book tells you how to do it, but it ain't workin'! Tell me it's not impossible.
Thanks in advance,
Todd

I installed an ancient version, photoshop element 2, on PC under Windows 7 after change of computer station and it is impossible to register modification made; error message: impossible because saturated disc ....what is not the case: many space on the disc. How to repair this error please?

    Hello
Thank you for your answer which is interesting because it is a disk of 2 TB... If I create a partition do you think it can solve my problem? I prefer this old version of Photoshop, very practical to use...

  • Which product to purchase (cross platform necessary from Mac to PC) Adobe Photoshop 6.0.x to ???

I have ancient Mac photoshop and pagemaker files. i need best cross platform product for windows that can access these files. adobe photoshop is my primary concern. I understand the indesign cs2 will import old school mac photoshop 6.0.x but is not compatible with windows 7 ... thank you.
In particular we use windows 7 x64
So in summary, need to determine which Windows 7 x64 version of Indesign CSxx will still open archaic Mac Adobe files (layouts, EPS, etc).  Or is there a similar product that must be obtained.  I prefer to stick to Adobe products, however, if I must go elsewhere and you can help -- please advise.
Also, if you know what I should obtain, does this product have a trial download option that I can test functionality before purchase?  Warranty when I do buy information -- and return policy in general?
    Many thanks.

PM support has long been pulled from InDesign. You are going to need some old version like CS or CS2 and save an intermediate step to ID files. PS is not a probelm at all. All programs have 30day trials and Adobe has a general 14day return policy. Refer to the product pages on teh website.

  • Photoshop 5: blacking out when I use certain tools

I have Photoshop 5. Everything is up to date.
Most of the time when I use the crop tool or patch tool, it will black out when I am circling what I want to change or crop. I can't see what I'm cropping, I just have guess, and the same thing with my crop tool. It's been happening for a very long time. Almost since I first purchased it.

Do you really mean the ancient, obsolete Photoshop 5?  Or did you mean Photoshop CS5 a.k.a. Photoshop 12.x?

  • Wacom Intuos III in CS4 64 bit - isn't work at all - help?

    Hello!
I've just barely built myself a new computer and am running Vista 64bit.  I downloaded the trail version of Photoshop CS4 64 bit to play around and I noticed my tablet (Wacom Intuos 3) is not working in the program.  I move my pen and nothing happens for a long while.  After about 5 seconds, the cursor will move maybe 2cm but is largely unresponsive.  Completely useless for painting/animating.
Is there anything I can do?  All my photoshop work is tablet based so I'm starting to freak out just a little bit here.  I'd really appreciate any help/advice .  Thanks!

    Thanks for the suggestions.
I've tried everything listed and unfortunately nothing works.
I was only using the trail to see if it was worth upgrading now that I have Vista 64 bit, and in the meantime I've re-installed CS3 on my new computer... only to discover my tablet isn't working in CS3 either... I wonder if it's time to panic yet!
ETA:  I'm positive this isn't a problem with my tablet as it's working fine in other programs on this PC and on my other PC.  Sadly, that pc is an ancient relic so it's not as if I could use any version of CS on it.
    UPDATE:
Disabling Vista's Tablet PC Input Service in Administrative Tools under the Control Panel is now allowing me to use my tablet in CS (it will at least move now).  However, there is no pressure sensitivity.

  • Error code 0xe0ef0003, No "BOOTMGR" after a system restore, no disc/self system.

So ... my HP Pavilion dv7 NB, that I've owned just a mere two days shy of three years, decided to get extremely lazy late last night. I have malware programs in place, strong security, etc. but I suppose that something might have slipped in ... but unlikely because of the issue I'm having. Which is the same issue that, well, everyone else is having! I do use my PC a lot so no big deal. Since I did everything that is suggested to do prior to an extreme act like a system restore I figured that I had no choice but to do a restore and that all will be well. Saved what images, music and a couple of other things that are important to me onto a disc and started to wipe things clean. I've done this before on my desktop ... which I've had since 2004 (Sony VAIO VGCRB42G) and is still going strong even though it's considered a "relic" at this point. I do take very good care of my things ... So after saving what I wanted I began what I thought was going to be a fairly short process. That started last night. 24 hours and hundreds of posts later I am no closer to figuring out what is going on. Maybe the OS? Microsoft and W7 really isn't ALL that ... it's good but not great by any means. Or could it be the components? Built by HP ... or FOR HP over seas, maybe? Regardless, my experience with HP products lately has been less than stellar. And after reading reams of the same issues that others and I share, with no cure for the elusive 0xe0ef0003/No BOOTMGR bug, it seems that my actions of a mere 6 months ago were spot on .... stop buying HP products.
There was a time when HP was king. They had great products, built right in my own backyard. Heck, my mom used to work for Fairchild. Who probably made some of the components that HP used in their products ... I think ... right here in the good ol' U.S. of A. I used to deliver skids and skids of freight to HP way back when. Now their campuses look like ghost towns. Yet there was a recent major ad campaign and their brand is still taking up shelf space at Fry's on Durham Rd. ... uhh, 'scuse me, Automall  ...
I've read a number of "Solved!" messages to which none helped me. But I do appreciate this community for trying ... sorta. Too many of these 'Solved!" messages included the suggestion of purchasing a restore disc, HD or something else. A recovery/restore disc ... something that was always included for free when one bought a new PC. Something that I got with my VAIO. Something that I've only needed to use once with my old a$$ VAIO! I am amazed that my ancient relic of a desktop outlasted my NB by 6+years ... and still going.
So after searching high and low and employing every other suggestion that I haven't tried already, all one of them, that doesn't require me spending more money I've resigned myself to accepting that if I want to be "mobile" with my PCing ... I'll have to buy another. Brand. Don't get me wrong, I love to spend money and I would gladly spend the extra dough if my NB was a little older but since it's so young and already needs a "heart transplant" I'd say the outlook for the rest of it's existence is pretty short and dismal anyway. So I'll just be "putting her down" ...
I'd like to thank you for allowing me the space to rant a little. Please be kind in your responses. I'm not really looking for help to fix my NB. I consider her dead. There are plenty of posts with folks who have the exact same issue. A ton. Mega tons! Chock full of replies and answers on this issue already. Do a search for yourself if you don't believe me! No, I just thought that maybe a muckety muck might be listening. I doubt it but ya never know!
As I am typing this up on my desktop I can't help but notice that I still have two pieces of HP product that I'm still employing: The wireless keyboard and mouse that I'm using at this moment. I sure do hope they don't burn up under my hands before I hit "Post"!

    you can't reactivate ps cs.
however, adobe allows you to use ps cs2, http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/creative-suite-2-activation-end-life.htm l

  • InDesign CS5.5 Export Error: Small fonts

When exporting to a PDF I get a Background Task alert:
Small Fonts: This font could not be embedded because it is missing its font outline file. Adobe Acrobat requires the outline file to be installed for correct viewing and printing of this file.
Can anyone tell me what this means and how to fix it.
When viewing the PDF that is exported part of my background from my Master Pages is missing however, it prints fine.

Congratulations! You managed to dupe InDesign to use one of the system bitmap fonts that come with Windows since (about) v.3.
"Small Fonts" is a for-screen-only bitmap font, intended to be used at a typical size of 3 to 6 PIXELS. It's a real legacy thing, just like the other bitmap-only-fonts "Microsoft Sans", "System", and maybe a few others. ("Microsoft Sans" is nowadays silently replaced by the system with Arial, I believe.) Those are the real bitmap deal -- designed to be used at their design size, for bitmap purposes only.
The strange thing is that, honestly, *every* self-respecting DTP software programmer *knows* to steer well clear from these ancient relics; and under normal circumstances they are simply not available as a font selection. Let alone, to attempt to include rhem in something as modern (and pixel-font free) as a PDF. Now *somehow* you got a PDF where someone else apparently not only used software that *did* allow him to "use" this font but write it to a PDF as well! Of course that didn't work; this person sent you his PDF, still containing the reference of the font but not the font itself; you placed this PDF called "financial info (etc).pdf" into your law-abiding, top notch modern version of InDesign ... that *is* smart enough not to check just the fonts YOU used in your document but also those inside PLACED PDFs.
There you are, now: you cannot use this PDF because it has a missing font; and this font is one that no sensible piece of software will ever allow you to embed.
Only two options left, here: ask the responsible party for a replacement PDF *without* using this font, or use Acrobat Pro to try and select the text in this font and assign another one (or possibly you have to use something like PitStop).

  • I DON'T RECOMMEND UPGRADING TO iOS4 IF YOU HAVE AN iPHONE 3G!

iOS4 has ruined my iPhone 3G! It has been a complete and utter disaster. One of the many problems has to do with the contacts. My iPhone 3G runs extremely slow, shuts off randomly, and has no contacts. All of which make a "smart phone" not so smart!
My advice is wait for the "fixes" or just get the iPhone 4. There are only a few features and advantages to the iOS4 upgrade with an iPhone 3G. Trust me, it's not worth it! This is not what I expect from Apple. The bigger they get the more they remind me of Microsoft.
To say that I'm upset is an understatement!

    Couldn't agree more!
took 3+ hours to download/install, all for what?!
So I can organize my apps now into folders, that in some ways make it HARDER to find the apps -- which folder did I put that one in again?
For a new "dock" that doesn't distinguish the docked apps well from the rest on the screen?
For the ability to edit iPod playlists (which isn't so easy to navigate through)?
For a unified inbox that doesn't mark emails as "read" after I've looked at them?
My 3G is running SLOW AS MOLASSES now, and keeps acting "buggy" with almost all apps.
Trust me, it's not worth it. In fact, I told my wife, who also has that now "ancient relic" known as a 3G, not to update her software. There's nothing wrong with the current 3G software that needs to be "updated" with 4.0.
Apple did this last year -- I remember my performance on my 3G suffered after the release of the 3GS and its 3.0 OS. I think I just got used to the slow performance. They came out a few weeks later with some "fixes," but I still say my 3G ran its best right out of the box (with the old 2.0 software).
The new 4.0 software is designed for the iPhone 3GS & 4, NOT the 3G!

  • I want to download ancient Photoshop 4.0 ,or following, but not not as modern as the CS's .Is that possible????

I want to download ancient Photoshop 4.0 or followings, but not as modern  than the CS`s. Is that possible???

They were on CD even as trials, the save/print functions were disabled. There was no "unlock code". The commercial version was the only fully functional version.
So, no. there are no 4 to CS versions available on Adobe's servers.

  • Is Photoshop 6.0.1 too ancient?

Trying to install photoshop 6.0.1 from my old disc (used in WindowsXP) on my new computer (Windows7). Installing program says my serial number is not a valid serial number (type is AAA000A0000000-000). Does this mean my license is expired, or what?
I am quite happy with 6.0.1 for my purposes, don't need update.

The activation Servers for up to Photoshop CS2 have been taken offline.

  • How to install Photoshop 5.0LE on Windows7 64bit?

Greetings, and new here.  Did a search but didn't come up with anything helpful, just a lot of very technical stuff.  I am very simply trying to use an old version of Photoshop 5.0LE that I got with a camera I bought on a new PC with Windows7 Pro 64bit.  I use Photoshop sparingly, but do on occasion and do not wish to purchase anything more elegant as I have no need and not much money.  I appreciate any help you might give.  I have heard there is a process but haven't been able to get it to even open the .exe file to try to install it.  I get a message something like "This version of Photoshop does not work with Windows7," (kinda makes me wonder why I even upgraded the OS since the XP Pro I had on my old machine worked very well with all my programs. Please help. Thanks. Highdesertdweller

UAC is Windows User Account Control, which is a big reason why older software might end up being incompatible with the latest OS.
Basically, in the "bad old" days, every application acted like it owned your entire computer, and modified anything and everything it saw fit.  Nowadays, by contrast, applications are supposed to install in certain places, then only make modifications and store data in user-specific places.
UAC is the Windows feature that asks you, during installs, whether you really want to allow an installer to make changes to the system, and it causes the redirection of some things that used to be at the system level to be stored in other, user-specific places.  It also causes your applications to be run without privileges, even though you may have added yourself as an Administrator.
UAC's folder redirection seems akin to "magic" and I've always felt it was a real hack job.
But in general UAC does protect people who don't really understand how everything works in Windows from a lot of malware, and - though Microsoft provides the ability to adjust the settings to facilitate greater compatibility with ancient apps - advising people to disable it has to be given with a disclaimer:
You should search for Windows User Account Control or just Windows UAC in Windows Help and online to learn what it does for you before choosing to disable it.
If you DO end up wanting to try disabling it to see if Adobe's old version will install, just click Start, type UAC in the search box, and click on Change User Account Control Settings when it comes up.  You'll need to reboot after the change.
Edit:  This seems out of order because it is; I had neglected to hit the Submit button.

  • How to install Camera RAW update for Photoshop CS3?

I know this is an ancient version! But for now it's all I need. Anyway...
My Adobe Updater says "No Internet connection.  Please check your Internet settings and/or firewall.  Waiting for connection..." That's the first problem.  I figured out how to manually update Photoshop and Bridge, but Adobe Updater still shows this message when trying to check for updates.  Also, I've tried to update Camera Raw from 4.0 to 4.6 and I can't figure out how to manually install it.  I knkow the website says to do the following:
    Mac:
Exit Photoshop CS3 and Adobe Bridge.
    Open the Finder.
Navigate to the root of the local disk (not the user’s home folder).
    Navigate to Library/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-Ins/CS3/File Formats.
Move the existing plug-in to another location (for example, a new folder on your desktop). Ensureyou keep this version in case you need to revert back.
Copy the Camera Raw plug-in, Camera Raw, from the download into the same folder as in Step 4.
Launch Photoshop CS3 or Adobe Bridge.
I manually entered "Library/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-Ins/CS3/File Formats" and it says this folder doesn't exist.  Can anyone help me update my camera raw?!
    Thank you so much!

  • Error 106 when Installing Photoshop 7?

    Hello,
I don't know much about computers and my english is not perfect, so please bear with me!
I just bought a netbook with Windows 7 Starter OS, and since my new netbook doesn't have a CD drive, and I was trying to install Photoshop 7 on here through my network from my old computer.
At about 40% of installation, it gives me this message:
    Media Name: data
    Compenent: Preset libraries/Brushes
    File group: Preset Brushes
    file: dry media brushes.abr
    error number: 106
Does anyone know why it does this?
Does it mean that the file corrupt or something? And if so, how do I replace it without having to buy the program again?
I would really appreciate your help!

If you're looking to run ancient software on your modern netbook, you might consider learning more about Windows UAC (User Account Control) and making an informed decision to disable it.
Just running a program As Administrator doesn't work around several of the issues (Registry and File System Redirection) that UAC introduces.  Some old programs might never run properly with UAC enabled.  I don't know, specifically, about Photoshop 7, because that's the one version I never bought; I went from 6.0 to CS.

I have been running Photoshop Elements Version 1 on a Windows XP machine.  I have a new Acer desktop pc running Windows 7 64-bit.  I am trying to install this old PhotoShop Elements V1 program from the original installation CD and as soon as I select "US English" and click "Next" I get a brief hourglass as if it is proceeding with the installation, but nothing happens and no message about failure comes back ... it is just as if I never put in the CD.   Is this ancient version of PE even compatible?

Pagemaker is ancient, obsolete and unsupported. It was discontinued over 10 years ago. (Though why it is still sold is a mystery.)
If you want to run PageMaker, your best bet is to use a Win2K or WinXP PC.
Otherwise move to Indesign or look at Serif's PagePlus or Scribus.
