I Have a new I pad and I cannot set up email. I tried 2 different emails and I keep getting messages that " the username or password for imap.gmail is incorrect. What am I doing wrong?
I would delete the accounts and start all over again making sure to follow the instructions here.

Sometimes, you have to go deeper into the settings and check the outgoing mail server setting as well, especially, if you cannot send mail.
Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Your email account>Account>Outgoing mail server - tap the server name next to SMTP and check in the primary server and make sure your username and password are entered and correct - even if it says that the password is optional

What's up with the iPhone update server. I have repeatedly tried in recent days to update the IOS software on my wife's 3GS iPhone but keep getting message that the iPhone update server cannot be contacted. The phone syncs normally and I am sure I am connected to the internet properly. Also I have successfully updated ITunes software during this same time frame. What gives??

Check the hosts file. The restore will fail if there is an active entry to redirect gs.apple.com. Follow iTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting to edit the hosts file or revert to a default hosts file. See section "Blocked by configuration: (Mac OS X/Windows) > Rebuild network information".
Try to restore from another known-good computer and network.
If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service. -
I am having a problem sending/receiving e mail messages on my iPhone 5 and cannot access my account. The message I am receiving is: The user name or password for "imap.gmail" is incorrect.
I do not know what imap.gmail is. I have also lost data which was contained on my diary which I believe is linked to the problem. Does anyone recognise this problem?

imap.gmail is the Google mail server. It doesn't recognize the password that is stored in the iPhone. The problem is that the password or email address you have in Settings for the gmail account is wrong. If you changed the password somewhere else that is the reason. You need to go to Settings/Mail,Contacts,Calendar, tap on the gmail account and enter the correct password. You also need to change it for outgoing mail in Settings. -

explained by Adobe Support: I purchased what is known
as a one user License of a Volume License from a supplier for a CS6
Upgrade from CS5. I had purchased the CS5 direct from Adobe and this is
considered to be a Retail version and not a Volume Licensed product. Adobe
says that you need to upgrade from a licensed version to a licensed
version. They provided me with a link and instructions to upgrade from my
retail version; however, so far it is not installing with the serial number
that was provided. I will contact Adobe next Tuesday after the holiday and
see if the problem can be resolved.

Iphone intermittently says "The username or password for yahoo mail is incorrect"
This is a mystery. Four email accounts on my iphone 4. No problems until a couple of days ago, when all of a sudden I get an error message when sending/receiving email BUT NOT EVERY TIME I AM SENDING OR RECEIVING. Nothing changed about the email accounts. Nothing downloaded/upgraded to the software for the iphone. I seem to get most of my email on my phone, but occasionally some mail seems to not arrive, while arriving on my PC.
?????? Since setting up these email accounts on my iphone (September 2010) I have not tinkered with the userID/passwords, or anything else about the accounts...
Any ideas?I get that occasionally, usually in a weak signal area - I aways assumed that the attempt timed out and the error message was erroneous. Usually, a few minutes later it seems to work ok for me.

I keep getting messages that the games cannot connect to the game center. Even when I try to open using the "play" incon in the Game Center, I get the same message. The message refuses to do anything when I press either "cancel" or "retry,", it just sits there and the game won't open when it appears.
I have tried resetting the IPad, turning it off/on; re-syncing, etc., and nothing seems to work. Can any one suggest a way to get the stupid Game Center message to close or some other method to open the game?

Was that Apple ID and password the original owner of the iPod? If not, try using the Apple ID and password of the original owner.

Apple's download AND activation servers are being stressed today with all the downloads/activations. It might be best to wait and try later.

If it is a POP account, there could be an issue with the outgoing server setting. It will not hurt to check this and make sure. Make sure that your username and password are in there.

This has nothing to do with iPhoto. When I have this type of problem I call tech support for my email service. They probably are the only source of the correct settings

What version of iTunes are you currently running? To check, in iTunes go "Help > About iTunes" and wait for the version number to scroll up from the bottom of the screen. For example, I see:
