Android 4.1 Jelly Bean - UPGRADE (15$ ?)

Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is faster than Android  4.0 thanks to something Google calls "Project Butter" which involves a few enhancements like VSync and Triple Buffering.  The Sony Xperia 2011 phones suffer from lagginess after update to Android 4.0 so maybe an update to Android 4.1 can resolve this problem.
The chances that Jelly Bean will ever get on 2011 Xperia phones are very smal!
Updating last year phones wiht the latest software is resource demading and this is why i think the solution for this issue is to buy the update
WOULD YOU PAY SONY 15$ FOR THE Jelly Bean UPDATE FOR YOUR 2011 XPERIA PHONE?
(maybe buy the update from the Android Market like any other software)

How wether we will update our 2011 armada of phones with Jelly Bean is for now for the future to tell.
I'd recommend you to keep posted on the product blog on the link below.

  • Jelly Bean upgrade for AT300 3G model

Hi. I read an old thread (1 month ago) that JB has not been rolled out to AT300 with 3G due to some modem driver issue. Does anyone know when will this be fixed and when JB update will come for 3G model?.

    Dear mates,
Stuck with the same issue like the most of you - 3G version AT300-105 with "smashing" 4.0.3 Android on it and with no apparent update in sight.
I am really disappointed with this as I need this device for work and to make matters worse, some of Android features I need are full of bugs on this version.
This is a expensive 650 euro tablet from a well-branded manufacturer, not some 80 euro low-end from an unknown manufacturer and I believe the former ones receive better support than we do. For this amount of money I could have purchase just about anything else. too bad I got suckered in for full SD card slot.
I read most of your posts and I am insulted by the "3G driver issue" which was stated . As a customer I could not care less about this excuse. It is Toshiba's hardware, their engineers chose it, and they should deal with it. Just to remind dear friends in Toshiba that there were three major Android updates since their initial release for this tablet:
Android 4.1 Jelly Bean (API level 16)
Android 4.2 Jelly Bean (API level 17)
Android 4.3 Jelly Bean (API level 18)
Android 4.4 KitKat (API level 19)
They had four releases after the initial one to fix the modem issue and I sincerely doubt they even bothered to try.
If they really cared they could have gone with issuing the newer release without modem drivers with warning for customers and possibility to roll back if wanted, but no, it is easier to use such petty excuse and do nothing. Shameful and disrespectful to buyers. If they don't do anything positive, which I doubt as I have this product for over a year and nothing was done, this will probably be the last thing I ever got from this company.

  • Jelly Bean Upgrade & Battery Life

Not sure if Battery Life was part of the Jelly Bean upgrade or if I had something running that was killing my battery which has been killed by Jelly Bean, but in the 12 hours I have used this since I upgraded, I have noticed that my battery is still almost fully charged despite the increase in activity as I play around with the new OS.  I normally am limping at 10-15% battery life by this time of day and I still have 60%.  Woot!!! I hope today was not fluke and this continues.
Anyone else notice the same thing?

CJ, software updates are supposed to improve functionality of your phone, and I regret to see that you developed a problem with the update. How long has your battery been lasting after the update? How long did it last before? Please try out some of these battery saving tips as well: http://bit.ly/WFT5GG.

  • Jelly Bean upgrade failed.

I got the Jelly Bean upgrade this morning but once I activated the upgrade it failed and gave no reason.  Where do I find the upgrade in order to try it again. Motorola Razr.

leeder46, let's get a passing grade for the software update. First, I recommend that you delete any unwanted information from your phone to ensure that you have enough memory capacity to accept the software update. For example, uninstall unwanted applications, delete unwanted text message threads, e-mails, and call history. Once you have cleaned your device out, from the home screen, tap Applications > Settings > About phone. You should be provided with the options to update the software. • Jelly Bean Upgrade Issues

Hello. After receiving the Jelly Bean upgrade, my Nexus will not longer connect to WiFi. It doesn't matter if I'm at home, work or out for the night. The toggle will go to "on", but will stay gray and then time out. Also, the OS doesn't seem to be as fast. Is anyone having similiar issues? Is there a fix for this?

        ClevBrowns1-
I'm sorry the wifi is not working properly since the update. I am able to use wifi on my Nexus like always. If you enable safe mode (steps http://bit.ly/OHgHtf) then try to use wifi, is it still an issue? Please keep me posted.

  • Gallery taking 50% battery after Jelly Bean Upgrade

Has anyone else experienced the Gallery taking up about 50% CPU after the Jelly Bean Upgrade?  Any solutions?
My phone dies in half the amount of time now.

I also noticed significantly increased battery drain after the update. I switched my Network to CDMA/LTE also, but I think the real killer was a couple of other settings that the update (re)enabled that I had turned off; the SmartStay option in the Display settings, and the option in S-Voice settings where it continuously monitors the microphone, waiting for you to say the 'magic wake-up command', that one even says it will drain your battery! With all that stuff on, my battery usage list would show "Screen" as the top item, and that was with the phone sitting untouched in sleep mode for several hours! I also found a couple of the "location update" related settings turned on that I was pretty sure I had disabled. I'm not sure which of those made the most difference (I suspect it was the S-Voice thing), but after putting all that back to way I had it, my battery usage is back to normal.
Many people in the DroidForums discussions are saying they had to do a FDR to fix this, but I suspect all that is really accomplishing is turning off all those battery-eating settings that the update (re)enabled. If anyone is still having issues after switching off the Global radio setting, I'd try the stuff I mentioned first, and if you still see battery drain with your settings back to pre-update values, maybe try the factory data reset.

  • Sony says 2011 Xperia phones might get Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

Hi! looks like not all is lost!
    http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/news/2195619/sony-says-2011-xperia-phones-might-get-android-41-j...

The information has been confirmed on the product blog (http://blogs.sonymobile.com/products/2012/07/31/on-android-4-1-jelly-bean/).
At least, it shows that Sony has not let their customers and older products down, contrary to what is said by some angry and impatient customers. Yes, software development takes time, and Sony may have been a little fast to release its ICS for every phones. But this news proves that Sony is looking into every possibility to improve its users experience.
I heartily hope that my neo v will get Jelly Bean and its new functions, with improved performances compared to ICS. So thank you Sony for considering it.

  • Problems after Jelly Bean upgrade

I upgraded to Jelly Bean when it came available and immediately started noticing problems.  The phone became sluggish in general but most notably the keyboard lagged to the point where texting became problematic.  I was unable to use the gallery app - it would open but pictures either wouldn't load or I couldn't scroll through them.  The camera app also wouldn't scroll through my pictures.  The web browser was sluggish even on a strong wi-fi connection.  I did a factory reset twice and lost a ton of information in the process, in hopes the reset would clear things up.  I ended up going to the store and the rep said he would have a new phone overnighted - which by the way, they gave me a used, sorry, a "certified like-new replacement" phone, not a new one.
Now that I have my replacement I'm reluctant to upgrade this one to Jelly Bean if I'm going to continue having problems.  Are/were these just an isolated problem, perhaps something in the phone itself and not the software, or are these widespread issues that will hopefully be addressed?  I've read on forums all over that people are complaining of battery drain but I didn't have that issue, just the sluggishness and the inability to access my pics.

Jbthompson, I know it can be upsetting when an update that should improve your phone's functionality causes it to have problems. I haven't seen the issues you experienced on most Galaxy S III's. Like TheGuyUpNorth stated, most issues are resolved with a factory reset. Do you know if any of your applications were automatically re-installed after the reset? Sometimes the cause of slowness can be related to applications that were compatible with the old OS no longer being compatible with the new one, or conflicting with each other. If you reset and then the same applications are re-installed, then the problem may arise again. Have you completed the JB update on your Galaxy S III replacement yet? Even if you defer or reject the software update, it may come again at a later date. You want to make sure you are ready to complete the update because if it alerts you in the middle of the night and you don't respond, it may go thru. If the battery isn't charged fully that could cause a problem with the update completing. Please let us know if you have any problems with the replacement and we'll be happy to help.

  • Xperia T menu icons touch problem after Jelly Bean upgrade

    I have Xperia T upgraded to jelly bean 4.1.2 Build Number 9.1.A.0.489 kernel version 3.4.0-g5b052b2-00759-gd9ee069 - Mon Jan 14 15:29:55 2013
After tap my menu icons in jelly bean there is no action. ex. Settings, Messages icon tap.
After switch on developer options -> show layout bounds - it's shown that icons (blue square) are covering the touch area (pink square) and not pushing touch events to action areas, only bouncing but without action. When touching both blue and pink area with finger icons works fine, with touching only blue areas no action. Every other touch are ok.
    Is it common issue ?
    Thanks.

I think this only happens when you enable that under development options. Have you tried to turn that off and check if this still remains?

  • Jelly Bean - Email AutoSync No Longer Works

I am at Android 4.1.1 (Jelly Bean) on my stock Samsung Galaxy S3.  Since the Jelly Bean upgrade, my e-mail will MANUALLY sync e-mails, but will no longer AUTOMATICALLY sync e-mails per the Peak/Off-Peak schedule for any of my e-mail accounts except for my Exchange account.  I have tried:
Adjusting the Peak/Off-Peak schedules to several different times / schedules.
Changing the period to synch from 1 Month or 100 e-mails to 1 month.
Accessing the Email app via the Applications interface and clearing all data.Step above obviously necessitated re-entering all e-mail accounts.
I have confirmed that Settings>Email(under Accounts Header) shows a green synch icon beside all four of my non Exchange accounts.
I've been messing with this for a number of days now and I'm hitting a wall.  This is not a menu-based configuration issue as far as I can tell AND it worked fine under ICS.
In case someone wants the information to diagnose, the non-exchange Accounts:
2 x @bellsouth.net (associated with my AT&T service, but hosted by yahoo.com service).
    1 x @yahoo.com
    1 x @gmail.com
My settings for synchronization (for all four accounts):
    All days selected.
    Peak schedule: Every Hour
    Off-peak Schedule: Never
    Peak start @ 7:00 AM
    Peak end @ 10:00 PM
    While Roaming: Use Above Settings.
Any suggestions?  (Other than the usual default "Have you tried a factory reset" that would require me to spend a day trying to get everything set back up and is basically a support tree "I can't figure it out easily so let's make your life harder because I can't be bothered" type of solution.)

Mine started @ JB, but in trying to research the problem on my own - I can confirm your observation that people are reporting sync issues across multiple platforms / e-mail providers.  What is weird about it is that on irregular occasions, one of my accounts will actually "sync."  As an example since I wrote the original post - I did get  notification of new emails in one of my accounts - I have purposely not been manually checking my accounts to see what is happening.  Interestingly, When I look at Settings>Email, it shows all of my accounts having been sync'd at 10:00 AM.  So what does that mean?  Sync is partially working, but not consistently (e-mails from across 4 hours came in when it is set to sync hourly) and even within the phone the sync status isn't being displayed correctly.  Something is clearly fubar'd I just don't know what.  (thanks for the advice though)

  • New Updated Jelly Bean List

The updated Jelly Bean List is out and the phones that will receive it is on the List and the one's that may or may not receive it is on there as Well and For the owners with a Razr or Razr Maxx it might be time to hold your breath because there not giving a time line when the Device will receive it. And it might be the phone won't get it all.. this makes my Happy Factor drop a few Steps.. b33
    http://www.droid-life.com/2012/09/14/when-is-my-android-phone-getting-jelly-bean-verizon/

All the specs are the same for the Razr.  They all use the same kernels and drivers.  There is no reason if they gave certain ones an update and not the others.
Keep in mind Verizon honestly doesn't care if the manufacturers update the devices or not.  They make money off the services, but since people will automatically blame Verizon for botched updates they want to test them first(which ends up taking the update to longer time frame).  If the update doesn't happen it's because of Motorola.
