Android anti-virus on Blackberry

I've been able to install, and run a few android apps on my Blackberry Z10. Would it be as effective running an anti virus/internet security whats unfortnatenly only releaslted on iOS, and android. It's a multi-device internet protection product. I know Blackberry is secure, but it wouldn't harm running something extra, is there any downsides if it did run stablely.

It isn't needed.

  • VIRUS IN BLACKBERRY TORCH

    Hi Everyone,
    M new to this forum and aprreciate if someone could help on the subject. i m a user of BB Torch in Msia. last month my service provider (celcom) charge me 210 for GPRS usage due large MMS sent which I never did. After complaining they waive the charge but said it is due to virus in the phone and will not waive it again. But they told me to change phone or clean-up the phone. I am charge again this month for the same thing. Is it possible to have virus in the phone? i have downloaded 'lookout' anti-virus scan and it shows no virus. Secondly how do i reformat, clean-up or whatever you call it? basically i want to reset the phone just like when i got it new., hoping it will clean the vrus or whatever problem.
    Thank you.

    There has knot been a Virus yet, but there has been a few forms of malware which might be similar in some regards, but is very different. Always be sure of what you are downloading and go over permissions for every app install, dont just trust them.

    Hi goggp
    This is not a Firefox for Android browser question since you are using the stock browser or google chrome ("mobile built in Internet browser,") , correct?
    This forum is only for Firefox for Android.
    As for the general topic of mobile device security and anti-virus, perhaps this will help as a starting point

  • Exchange 2013 IOPS Requirements for ActiveSync and anti-virus

    I am currently planning to replace my Exchange 2003 server with Exchange 2013. I have used the Exchange Server 2013 Role Requirements Calculator but I'm stuck on how much additional IOPS to add for ActiveSync and my anti-virus solution (Symantec Mail Security
    for Microsoft Exchange). The only info I've found for ActiveSync in regards to additional IOPS is to add .5 but nothing for SMSMSE. Symantec's web site has nothing on this (the question has been asked but not answered). I've also seen the ActiveSync question
    asked but not answered.
    Any advice or guidance would be appreciated.
    Thank you.

    Only Symantec can answer that for the A/V, but for ActiveSync, assuming you are using mostly Android/iOS, I would recommend using 1.3 for both IOPS Multiplication Factor and Megacycles Multiplication Factor.

  • Anti virus for incredible

    Has anyone found an anti virus worthy of downloading? And that doesn't drain the battery down constantly scanning the phone.

    Iuse lookout mobile, works great, free from the market, but I have heard that android does not need anti-virus, I'm just paranoid.

  • App Killers and Anti Virus Apps

    New android user do you need to use either of these Apps?

    No to the app killer. Don't waste your time. I don't use an anti virus, but I did for a while. I honestly don't know how effective they are since its a fairly new issue. I did have AVG for a few months and I liked it. It scanned everything that I downloaded. It did slow things down a bit and I think it also drained the battery just a bit, which is why I dumped it. It can't hurt to load one, but I just got tired of the constant scanning. I'll take my chances for now.

  • A Silly Anti-Virus Question

    I am new to driod OS, was wondering how important an anti-virus app or software is on smartphones.
    I know the dangers on the computer and windows system. Is there threat on the driod system. I only download apps from the market.
    What anti-virus do you use?

    In regards to the double post, what browser are you using?
    Search is your friend in this community.
    There are a couple of posts in the Android Apps section of this community that discuss antivirus applications as well as mentions of bad Apps that were removed from the Android Market.
    As for what I use for antivirus applications, I have used both Lookout and AVG Antivirus on my phones. No big complaints for either of them. Norton has one. McAfee does too. Kapersky or something like it has an android application as well.

Obs.: meu sistema e windows 7 home premium 64bits

  • Cisco Jabber for Windows - Anti-Virus Software

    Hello,
    Cisco Jabber for Windows could not resolve outlook contacts, when a client has installed McAffee Anti-Virus Software.
    Is there any documentation available, how to setup a Anti-Virus Software, to get Cisco Jabber for Windows running?
    Cisco Jabber for Windows Version 9.2.4 Build 4528
    Outlook 2013
    Thanks
    Alex

    this is all what we mention about antivirus;  http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/jabber/Windows/9_2/JABW_BK_J6915A59_00_jabber-windows-server-setup/JABW_BK_J6915A59_00_jabber-windows-server-setup_chapter_00.html
    Some antivirus or firewall applications, such as Symantec EndPoint Protection, block inbound CDP packets, which disables desk phone video capabilities. You should configure your antivirus or firewall application to allow inbound CDP packets. See the following Symantec technical document for additional details about this issue: Cisco IP Phone version 7970 and Cisco Unified Video Advantage is Blocked by Network Threat Protection.
    with that being said; we probably would like to get the jabber process excluded from the antivirus list so that it allows for inbound MAPI communication as that is what is used for quering for the outlook contact.
    The only process that ever runs from Jabber for windows is "CiscoJabber.exe" which is located in the following path:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Cisco Systems\Cisco Jabber
    i hope this helps.

  • Recently, I updated to Firefox 4.0.1, and the new version disabled several of my programs, including my anti-virus. How can I go back to the previous version of Firefox?

    I want to go back to the previous version of Firefox, because the new version (4.0.1 I think) that I downloaded disabled several of my programs, including my anti-virus program, because they were incompatible with the new version of Firefox. How do I get back to the previous version of Firefox and re-enable the disabled programs?

    Some gestures have been removed in Firefox 4.
    You can restore the zoom feature by changing the values of the related prefs on the <b>about:config</b> page.
    browser.gesture.pinch.in -> <b>cmd_fullZoomReduce</b>
    browser.gesture.pinch.in.shift -> <b>cmd_fullZoomReset</b>
    browser.gesture.pinch.out -> <b>cmd_fullZoomEnlarge</b>
    browser.gesture.pinch.out.shift -> <b>cmd_fullZoomReset</b>
    browser.gesture.pinch.latched -> <b>false</b>
    To open the <i>about:config</i> page, type <b>about:config</b> in the location (address) bar and press the "<i>Enter</i>" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.<br />
    If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.<br />
    You can use the Filter bar at to top of the about:config page to locate a pref more easily.

    Thanks for trying to help. Sadly, I followed the instructions and it rebooted to the blue screen again.
    It's going to have to go to Apple for repairs now. I'm out of options.
    I am wondering how much easier it would have been if I'd created a time machine restore point. I got what I deserved for failing to do that, but I'm doubtful even that would have worked in this case. It does seem to be because of that piece of widely reported malware that didn't want to leave without causing damage.
    The most frustrating aspect is the safe boot. I get to the desktop but without any menu, finder or dock. It seems to be similar to the problem below...
    http://www.macsmarts.com/?p=109
    But that's for Tiger. I tried that to no effect.
    Like I said, it's going to have to go to Apple now because I've done so many things I don't know if I'm just digging myself a deeper hole.
    Thanks again for offering help.

    Not a virus, but it is malware: The Safe Mac » Search Results » adware removal.
    Helpful Links Regarding Malware Protection
    An excellent link to read is Tom Reed's Mac Malware Guide.
    Also, visit The XLab FAQs and read Detecting and avoiding malware and spyware.
    See these Apple articles:
              Mac OS X Snow Leopard and malware detection
              OS X Lion- Protect your Mac from malware
              OS X Mountain Lion- Protect your Mac from malware
              About file quarantine in OS X
    If you require anti-virus protection Thomas Reed recommends using Dr.Web Light from the App Store. It's free, and since it's from the App Store, it won't destabilize the system. If you prefer one of the better known commercial products, then Thomas recommends using Sophos.(Thank you to Thomas Reed for these recommendations.) If you already use Sophos, then be aware of this if you are using Mavericks: OS X Mavericks- Sophos Anti-Virus on-access scanner versions 8.0 - 9.1 may cause unexpected restarts
    From user Joe Bailey comes this equally useful advice:
    The facts are:
    1. There is no anti-malware software that can detect 100% of the malware out there.
    2. There is no anti-malware that can detect anything targeting the Mac because there
         is no Mac malware in the wild, and therefore, no "signatures" to detect.
    3. The very best way to prevent the most attacks is for you as the user to be aware that
         the most successful malware attacks rely on very sophisticated social engineering
         techniques preying on human avarice, ****, and fear.
    4. Internet popups saying the FBI, NSA, Microsoft, your ISP has detected malware on
        your computer is intended to entice you to install their malware thinking it is a
        protection against malware.
    5. Some of the anti-malware products on the market are worse than the malware
        from which they purport to protect you.
    6. Be cautious where you go on the internet.
    7. Only download anything from sites you know are safe.
    8. Avoid links you receive in email, always be suspicious even if you get something
        you think is from a friend, but you were not expecting.
    9. If there is any question in your mind, then assume it is malware.
