can apps from Google Play be installed on the Passport? I want to install the MS Onenote app (it is very poor that such an important business app is not availble for BB, which is touted as a business device).  The app is available on Google Play but not the amazon appstore.  many thanks for any ideas.

  • Android Subscriptions & Google Play Magazines

Currently, Adobe DPS does not support subscriptions for Android apps. However, big publishers like Hearst which also use DPS are on Google Play Magazines. How do they do their subscription then? Or do they have an early update of some kind?

They use the enterprise edition of DPS with a custom entitlement server. With this solution it is possible to offer your own subscription service, which isn't paid via google checkout.

  • PlayBook Help with Android Apps / Google Apps ** Advice Needed Plz **

Good Evening Everyone, I need some help and advice please regarding a Playbook.
I had a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7" and found that firstly i could not move apps to SD Card so i sold it.
But now i want to buy a Blackberry Playbook and understand that Android Apps are on the new software update.
But i am trying to find out if i can buy them from Google Android Apps as i have a Google Account and used to buy android apps from there, can they be used on the Playbook??
Finally can someone advise me if there is a SD Card external port if i wanted to add a extra 32GB of storage. Looked everywhere on the Spec but with no joy finding out.
Any help and suggestions would be really Handy.
Its Nearly 2013 so wishing you all a Happy New Year.

    1) a far as I know, no SDcard reader available for the PlayBook currently.
    2) Android apps, that you can download from the Google Play with your Google Account will not work on anything else than an Android powered tablet.
    3) what you have certainly read on the internet, is that "the PlayBook can run Android apps", which is not exactly true.
What is true is this, and you will be quite disappointed:
    A) applications for the PlayBook are either web applications (like GMail using the browser), or applications installed from the App World (it is a Blackberry store, just like the AppStore for iOS or Google Play for Android).
    B) for a given developer that has developped an application for Android, it is very easy to convert their app to the BlackBerry format, and publish it on the App World.
====> basically, if you want to install an application that is available for Android, you have to wait for the developer to port the application to the BlackBerry PlayBook.
for the financial issues, I believe that if you buy an app on Google Play, and the app is available on the App World, then you have to buy it again (and vice versa).
I will end by saying that if the only reason for you to sell your Galaxy Tab 2, is that the apps cannot be moved to the SDCard, then I am not sure the PlayBook will suit your needs for that aspect.

  • Prevent android app audio playing when minimised

My android app has some looping background audio. When I minimise the app by selecting the "home" button on my Nexus 7 - the app disappears but I can still hear the audio playing. I assume the app must be still active in the background. The same app on the iPad doesn't exhibit this behaviour so I guess something different in how Android deals with apps that are not in the foreground.
Would appreciate advice on best way to prevent this audio playing. Ideally I don't want to completely shut down the app when minimised.
    All advice much appreciated
My app was compiled with Flash CS6 and Air 3.5.

    I listen for Event.DEACTIVATE
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/FlashPlatform/reference/actionscript/3/flash/events/Event.html #DEACTIVATE
When the app is minimized and that event fires, I just stop or mute the audio the same way i normally would

  • Cant download Skype at android from Google Play

    Device Maker: Sony Ericsson
    Device Name: Xperia x8
    Device Model: E15i
    Network Home from WiFi
Skype client version installed: Cant download
Hello guys...I log at market from my Android phone and i cant find skype at the Search Section...As well when i log at the Google Play to download skype it tells me "This application is not compatible with your device"...Can u please help me and tell me what is wrong with my xperia and i cant download it?Like 6 months ago i used to have it and now i cant even download it or find it through Market...Any idea will be helpfull

Skype has been discontinuing / blocking access to certain platforms and operating systems so you must be running Android 2.3.x Gingerbread or higher to install it.
As far as I can tell the Xperia x8 is shipped with Android 1.6 upgradable to 2.1 which does not meet the minimum requirement for Skype.
It maybe possible to install unofficial mods of Android to get Gingerbread (aka Cyangenmod) but the process is messy, may brick your device not to mention void your warranty.
For what it's worth a new handset running Kitkat or higher would be a better solution since there's no telling how long Android Gingerbread would remain supported.

When i try to purchase gold now it says i cant because it is considered a high risk transaction. Is there a setting or something i need to do to allow this? ASIMS.

I just checked my bank and both times it said the transaction failed the money has still been taken from my account but no gold.  ASIMS

  • Difficulty with Licensing Android apps developed with Flash CS6

Hi, I'm heading down many a blind alley with this one. I have developed an Android app using Flash CS6 and it is ready to be published on Google Play. However, as it is a paid app, it is strongly advised to license it to protect it.
There is a bit of documentation on how to do this with Flash Builder, but I need to be able to do it with Flash. The following link provides some info, though it is far too confusing for me to follow.
    http://www.rybram.com/index.php/blog/61-air-30-android-licensing-tutorial-project
The Android developer page has info about it here, but it keeps refering to the Manifest file.
    http://developer.android.com/google/play/licensing/adding-licensing.html
I've seen a few other threads on here touching on this subject, but I have not had any luck with them. There's lots of references to Air Native Extensions that handle licensing but I don't understand them.
I'm quite surprised that there is no support from Adobe on such a fundamental stage of the app production. Basically, anyone developing Android apps using the otherwise fantastic Flash CS6 will have trouble protecting their apps with licenses once published, meaning that anyone can just grab the .apk file and redistribute it anywhere.

I think what I need is the idiot's guide
As long as you don`t make this attudude a habit
It might be best that you hire someone to look into the matter, pushing out sth. on the market with no real plan
I'm heading down many a blind alley with this one
could get you into serious trouble with customers that buy your product, experiencing trouble with some kind of DRM you are blindfoldedly implementing and having no clue how to fix it.
    Just saying.
You wouldn`t surely feel comfortably buying from a developer who is admitting to have no clue what he/she is doing, would you?

  • You Upgraded to OS 10.2.1 and want to run Android Apps on Your BB10? Install Snap to Your Device!

If you've upgraded to OS 10.2.1.x on your BB10 device you can now install any free Android app directly to your BB10 smartphone directly without any special converting and without the need to connect to your PC.  This opens up BB10 to the thousands of Android apps available in the Google Play store.  However, you need an app to quickly search for and install these Android apps.
The best app available so far is called Snap.  Unfortunately, Snap can't be installed directly to the device since it's a native BlackBerry app and is not yet available in the BlackBerry App Store.  However, it can be quickly loaded to your BB10 device using your PC.
Here is a quick and easy way of installing Snap on your BB10 device using your PC.  Once Snap is installed on your device you won't need your computer to install Android apps on your device!
    1.   Download Sachesi for your computer Platform, i.e. Windows, Mac, Linux (Don't download the Sachesi bar file for BlackBerry or the apk file for Android)
    Sachesi
    2.  Download Snap from here:
    Snap
    3.  Connect your BB with the USB cable.
    4.  Double click on the Sachesi app you downloaded.
    5.  When it opens, click the "Install" tab. (If your device requires a password enter it here.)
    6.  Drag the Snap bar filed you downloaded in step 2 into the box under the install tab.  As soon as you drop the file it will load to the device.
    7.  That's it!  You can disconnect your device and enjoy direct downloading of Android apps on your BB10 device by opening Snap and using your Google Account.
Note:  Not all Android apps will run on the BB10 and, occasionally, an app will not work quite as expected.  However, the vast majority do run normally.

Hello John_Clark  Excellent contribution. Valuable information for all who want to upgrade and not wait until the update is releasedby our operator. It would also make a good listing of operators which has released 10.2.1
And which have not yet released. Regards.

  • When updating APK, Google Play tells the APK is not signed, but it is.

    Hi.
When uploading a new updated APK for my AIR app, Google Play tells the APK is not signed.
I signed the APK with the same p12 file I used for the first version (successfully published and approved on Google Play).
I'm using Flash Builder 4.6 with AIR SDK 3.7. The first version of app was packaged with Flash Builder 4.6 and AIR SDK 3.4.
Then I tried to generate a new .p12 key, but I get the same error message while uploading.

Hi there, I agree with poltergeist_ and and thanks for the post mentioning that error message, even though this original topic was not related, so that I found this topic!
I updated my apps on Apr 16 using whatever the latest Air SDK that day (3.7.x I believe), and for some reason until now those updated apps works/install from Google play on all the existing android devices I had.
Yesterday I bought new Galaxy s4 and when I try to intall the updated apps, it is not installing on it saying "Package file was not signed correctly", so I spent bunch of time trying to figure out if this was because of this new Galaxy S4 phone. I'm glad that I found this topic and this post.
I'm gonna try it with new SDK build and will let you know the results.

  • Why can't I see my android app on google play on phone?

I've built a native android app which works fine on a tablet, but I can't see it on a phone App Store, any idea why?

After you test the .apk file, log in to the Google Play Developer Console (https://play.google.com/apps/publish/). From there, you can either unpublish the previous app and add the new app, or you can submit a new version (upload a new .apk binary) of the existing app. If you're updating the existing app, you might need to go back into Web App Builder and override the version number. Instructions for doing this are in the link Neil provided.

  • Using Google Play Developer License RSA code with Air for Android App?

What is the procedure for using Google Play Developer's provided license code (Base64-encoded RSA public key to include in your binary) for an Air for Android app in Flash?
I see the need to load a p12 file and have gone through the process of creating one for Air for iOS with OpenSSL but the Google provided key is in a different format. To start with it is delivered by copy/paste off a webpage.
I am using Flash CS5.5. I could switch to CS6 if neccesary.
    Thanks

Sorry for late reply..I was away.
@TBO27, I've tried that and it does stop the downloads and installs but only temporarily. The next time I connect the WiFi it starts downloading and reinstalling again.
@Tidbits, No, that app isn't preinstalled. I can uninstall it easily enough but it really gets annoying when a bunch of the old apps get reinstalled one after the other. I chose Sharesfinder as an example. There are many others.  I had downloaded a few electronics tutorials and simulators 2 phones ago and even they get put back...sigh.
When I bring up my Google Play Apps on the PC I can bring up the settings where it asks whether or not to show each phone in the menus. There is a checkbox for each phone. That and a button to rename the phone. I unchecked all the phones from there except the latest, most current phone but it is as if this list was being ignored.
I reset the phone a few days ago but this time I unchecked the google backup and restore. I have to keep it off until I figure this out unfortunately...
edit: Since I was testing a paid backup app I reset the phone and since I didn't let Google reinstall anything automatically but installed all my apps myself, the "My Apps" in Google Play showed only those few apps I installed myself. Everything looks as it should. I was quite happy that it finally "took" and stopped the extra app nonsense. Sad to say that when I checked that box for Google to backup and restore my Apps, passwords, settings, etc. then POOF...all those old unwanted apps came back....sigh.
