Android Beam?

I have 2 LG spectrum 2s that I am trying to get the contact list transfered from one to another using the beam feature but Its not working. On each phone I have NFC and Android beam on, open contact list on the phone i want to transfer from, place the two phones together, I get the jingle and the vibration, but nothing else happens. From what I have seen on youtube, the item shrinks on the screen and a send button appears. but when I do it, nothing changes. Can someone help me please. thanks... Also tried with music, pics. still nothing. Only the sound and vibration.

Yes, NFC through Android Beam lets you instantly share URLs, contacts and calendar events with other Android Beam-capable devices. Are you having issues completing a transfer? If so, what is the specific error message that you are receiving? Just to clarify, are you wanting another way to send a calendar entry to another galaxy 3 device outside of NFC/S Beam? NFC stopped working

I have used the NFC to check the balance on my travel card for subway/bus. But now it doesn´t work anymore. I just get a notification "Reading error. Try again." Both alternatives NFC and Android Beam are activated. I have deactivated/activated them several times. But still the same error message.
Could the fact that I have uppgraded to Lollipop be the reason or something else?

What does NFC actually do on a laptop?

I am looking at a T540 and I see that NFC is available as an option. I use it all the time on my smartphone, but what purpose would it serve on a laptop? Can it do file transfers like Android Beam?

Modifying U310 - SSD, battery, NFC, fan

Hello!I want to start bit of a discusion.Getting the machine:
In 2012 I bought U310 from reseller in Slovakia. The machine came with 3 dead pixels (not so good), but the shop had replacing policy for displays with 3 and more dead ones (good). New model had just one dead pixel and after few seconds of pressure to the screen it fixed itself (thanks God). That was the story, how I get fully functional lenovo IdeaPad U310.
Oh funny thing! The warranty was void when I bought the laptop. The sticker on one of the screws was already torn to pieces, when I firstly opened the machine (after a year or so). UEFI dualboot hdd+ssd:First thing to do with 500GB HDD and 24GB SSD? RapidCache? No. UEFI dualboot. Pain in the astorage.

hdd+ssd out, SSD in:
Besides the noisy fan (later) the 500GB 5400rpm hitachi HDD is noisy and rated at 2,5W power. It was pretty good solution in 2012 (I liked it much better than the "SSHD" hybrid thing), but it's 2015 and you can get pretty decent mSATA even 256GB SSDs for good prices. So I am going to sacrifice half of the hdd storage in favour of fast and efficient ssd (data will be on NAS). Power will also be saved. SSDs have similar power consumption, so changing it for another will not affect consumption. But loosing HDD will surely improve it. (also the noise)
I bought second hand msata Samsung PM851 256gb ssd (seller just pulled it from other brand new machine and is selling it half priced) I will get the hdd out, install new ssd and try dualboot. The dualboot will probably be harder than hdd+ssd one.
Do you have a good way to perform a dualboot install on uefi with single ssd, that will survive windows updates? I will be very happy to see that
Bigger battery:Yeah I know.. Never use other battery packs than the one for your laptop. I know, lithium is fire, lithium is death!
Anyway.. After getting out the HDD there will be more space. I could get bigger battery there right?
Let me see U310 has 3cell 11,1V 46Wh 4160mAh battery. I can not simply add one cell to that battery pack that is impossible.
Can I get a U410 battery there? 4cell 7,4V 59Wh 8060mAh:Not so simple.. The voltage difference is too big here.
But question: Is there anyone, who is more familiar with the actual design of the motherboard and its power supply circuits of U310 and U410? That would be awesome to talk to someone, who can provide us these information. Is there any chance the power supply circuit will cope with 7,4V from the battery pack instead of default 11,1V? Like, U310 and U410 seems so similar in HW design, that onboard power supplys could be the same. Connectors and pinouts of these batteries are the same. That would be awesome to just plug the U410 4cell battery to U310 and go. (It will probably be not so easy..)Less dangerous option is to find slightly bigger 3cell or 6cell lenovo battery of 11,1V that can be fitted inside.
What do you think about this? I know it is not a best idea, but still it is a really good question, isn't it?
NFC inside!?:
Well who would not want tu use Android beam with his computer? So I bought cheap ACR122U USB NFC Reader and I will try to fit it inside of the laptop. The circuit board with the antenna is pretty thin. The only problem is the connection. I will probably need a usb hub inside of the case (possible with space from late HDD). I could use the single USB2 on the left side to connect usb hub to. Then connect the reader to one port of the hub and the actual notebooks usb2 connector to a second port on the usb hub.
This would hypothetically work.
Fan...:
Inefficient insufficient noisy piece of... you know it.. That thing cant even cool the i7 version below 40°C at 700mHz. The biggest problem is probably too small space and no airflow, so the fan spins but can not suck any more. So it simply sucks, suckn't it? Thermal paste change didn't help. There may by a solution of changing the fan for one from another model.. but I need to find good replacement. I haven't found it yet.
Well this will be all for now. I hope I didn't bore you. If you have something you've done yourself share, please! I will be very happy to see what is going on there If you know something I am trying to acheave (especially the battery!) Please! Help. Thank you for yor time. I hope you will like this.

SOLVED:
so.. I really didn't understand how.. but, I slovet my problem.
firstly I installed windows 7 to flash the BIOS I flashed it (http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/IdeaPad-Y-U-V-Z-and-P-series/how-can-I-get-my-money-back/td-p/920647). So now there is bios from U410 installed on my U310 (version 15). (I like this better, because upper keys functions as F1 F2 F3... and with Fn + F1... they have functions(volume...) U310 bios had it swapped)
secondly I installed Fedora 17 (UEFI mode, GPT disk tables)
thirtly I needed to install wireless adapter firmwares (yum install iwl105-firmware.noarch iwl135-firmware.noarch iwl2000-firmware.noarch iwl2030-firmware.noarch) I installed all of them. AND voila, SOLVED... I don't know how, but button is acting as supposed, fan is cooling continually and my wifi is working also.
IMO: EFI and OS are more connected than in BIOS, so badly installed firmwares/drivers can cause even hardware problems.

Excite PRO 3G connection not work after Android v4.3 update

I live in Italy and on last Sunday (january 26th) my Excite PRO tablet (model AT10LE-A-10H) got the Android version 4.3.201121220.35.
After restart my wifi works fine, all other app work fine, but my 3g connection doesn't work, mobile network bar is empty and it says "no service".
My sim card is ok. I used this sim card before the system update and I didn't get any problem with Android 4.2.2.
Please help me.

Go to the mobile network settings and search again for the 3G network.
I had similar problem with my Android Smartphone and my o2 provider
I started new search, then I chosen the O2 again and then I could solve the problem.
In case this does not work for you, recommend you to reset the tablet back to default (factory settings)

Why does Android Reader smart zoom not work as described on Google Nexus 7 2013 tablet?

The smart zoom feature in Android Acrobat Reader allows you to double tap on a text column and the reader will zoom up to the column in improve readability. This feature works great on the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 smart phone, but only appears to zoom half way on the Google Nexus 7 2013 tablet.

How to make mac address gmail contacts overwrite the ones on my HTC Android phone - I don't want to sync - that makes the phone scramble and overwrite my computer. I want to remove or correctly overwrite the phone information as I have done with iPad.

Please help - I am beginning to hate google, my android and gmail. I have just wasted about 5 hours in a futile attempt to try and get my current Mac contacts list on my computer updated to my phone. I'm not that computer literate but I have looked up about google phone accounts, vCards, backing up contact lists, what SD on phones are, and God know what else. I have searched the internet and tried all sorts of things and I still have a mac with a now correct contact list (after the iPad contacts scrambled it and I spent ages manually correcting them all) and a phone with an outdated contact list. If you try and sync them the phone wants to overwrite the computer one just like the iPad did (would it be so **** hard to give you a choice on the phone as to which overwrites which!). After all the advice on the internet failed, I got the bright idea to completely delete all the ones on the phone and if it was empty of contacts the computer one could be exported to it. Not as simple as it sounds. First I backed up (I think) my computer contacts list. Numerous futile attempts to go through the phone options to globally delete all contacts did not work - they gave a warning message and you got to choose whether to continue or not, I did, and it looked like it might be working as it changed to zero data on the phone, but then they all popped back up again from God knows where from, but without their little added bits like pictures of the people. So, I tried un- syncing the darn phone from google and then deleting them globally. That didn't work either. I tried deleting them all again and again and google would crash and not let me do it. It is absolutely ridiculous that this is so damned difficult to do (especially if you are not computer savvy) and that you cannot choose which device overwrites which when syncing. I gave up and ticked sync with Google again (not that it appears to do anything to the phone contact list at all). So after 5 hours I am back to where I started from, with a phone showing all the same incorrect contacts (but the pictures are back), which wants to overwrite the computer if I try any sort of sync, and no way to fix them except go into each one manually and try and do it - and how long would that take (and I've already wasted hours and hours fixing scrambled contact lists!). I think I will do a print out of the computer contact list and just carry it around with me like an address book - so much bloody simpler. So now I have a headache, am fighting an overwhelming urge to hurl the phone at the wall, hoping for a heat wave to evaporate icloud things and am wishing I had bought an iPhone instead of the stupid HTC Android. Can any one offer me any suggestions on how to get rid of the contacts on my phone and replace them with the ones in my mac address list - hopefully after that they can sync to their hearts content and not stuff everything up again (which was why I unsynced google a while back - because the phone's list kept making stuff ups and scrambling and duplicating my computer contacts list). Am I the only one on the planet having this problem or is there someone else out there who has had it and solved it.

Without "pretending" to be yourself on the other phone (change settings) there's nothing else you can do.
iOS devices are meant to be single user and can't view iCloud.com the same way a Mac or PC can do.
You need to find a desktop or laptop machine (Mac or PC) to log in at iCloud.

How do I add a contact / recipient to an SMS on iPhone 5s? It's easy on Android, but I've not sussed it on the iPhone - can't create a group etc. Tried to create a group on Mac, but it either doesn't exist or won't sync to the phone with usb, nor will other contact details created on Mac. I'd rather not use the cloud. I'm sure contacts used to sync to my old iPod touch in Snow Leopard.
Is it not more logical to have the phone as the main source of this sort of data? We're more likely to update on a device we carry all the time surely?

Geolocation isn't supported in the Emulator. You'll have to set up a test case that gives the geolocation without relying on the Emulator.
