Android calendar on shows a subset of what's on Google calendar

I have seen so many different posts regarding calendar problems that I'm sorry if this answer is already out there, but I can't find it by searching so I'm going to ask for myself:
I have a Google Calendar that works fine when I create/update entries from the web. I do not use Google Calendar Sync or any other SW to communicate with my Android phone (Droid 2) and I do not have/use Outlook.  My phone calendar is set up and it shows everything correctly for the current and past 6 weeks.  Updates made on either calendar (web and phone) appear on the other in less than a minute, so the basic Sync function seems to have the capability to make the correct updates.
I created my Internet Google Calendar around Sep 2010 (when I got this phone) and I created past events for record keeping purposes (I added details of a vacation in 2009, a business trip in Spring 2010, etc),  I also created several recurring events that extend for a year or more into the future (like music lessons and task deadlines).  All of these are clearly visible on my Google calendar when I access it from the web and when I access it on my phone via the Internet.
However, when I use the onboard calendar function it does not show any events older than 7 weeks except those that were created as recurring events.  It also show only 1 recurring event starting past this week--it loses recurring events that start in the past and extend past next week along with losing recurring events that start and stop completely in the future.
The net result of all of this is to render that onboard calendar function pretty useless--to get an accurate view on my calendar I have use a shortcut to access my Google Calendar through the Internet.  I am perplexed why there should be so many users with documented problems related to syncing their web Google Calendar with their phone calendars on a platform developed by Google. Similar calendar complaints seems to fill the Google forums from 2009 through today with not much in the way of solutions or work arounds offered. My old Palm Tungsten PDA may not be able to sync wirelessly, but when it did sync it had all my events,
Can anyone think of anything I could be doing wrong that causes these problems?  Does anyone have any advice on how to overcome these problems?
(I've already spoken with Verizon and Motorola support:  1) I already tried completely deleting all calendar data from my phone and reacquiring via a new setup; 2) I've reset my phone to factory setting and reloading everything; 3) I had them send me a replacement phone in case it was a programming error on my phone but the replacement acted exactly the same way.)

I have been researching this problem since it first surfaced with the 2.2 Froyo updated on the Droid X for me.   It is unbelievably frustrating.  I basically run my life with my calendar, and also use it as a journal to document what I do.   There are two fundamental problems:
1 - the sync only will bring in appointments to about five or six weeks prior to the current date, not any in the further past;
2 - the sync hangs up and fails to complete the synchronization.
I have read hundreds of posts related to these issues on this Verizon forum, and also on Droid Forums.   Scores of customers seem to experience these issues.
When I first got the Droid X, I noted the failure to sync past appointments, and finally after many hours on the phone with Verizon support and reading many posts, I learned the trick of manually setting the phone date to some time in the past, since it will sync future events to the gmail calendar.  That had issues as well, as it used to only sync 1 year into the future, so I had to keep resetting the phone date to past dates one year at a time to rebuild my calendar from 2005.  This no longer works because of problem #2 - synchronize stops and fails.   Verizon phone support admitted that they have had complaints about this problem as well.
I have checked all Accounts settings, auto sync, power widget (trick from the developers forum), factory reset and rebuild of environment, removal of possibly interfering market applications such as task killers and virus protectors, system recovery utility->clear cache partition, etc.   I have tried everything that I have found a suggestion for or thought might solve the issue, all to no avail.
At one point I thought it was a Google issue, but when I setup a new Macintosh computer, iCal synchronized every single appointment and event back 7 years and forward from the current date flawlessly to my Google gmail calendar.   The synch on the Droid X will run for perhaps 10 seconds and then the little icon with the arrows stops spinning and it just hangs there, having brought in only 15% or so of my thousands of appointments from my Google gmail calendar.
Maybe it is a size problem, since I have so many appointments.  Or maybe not.  No one seems to know.  No response from Google support.   I have posted extensively about this issue on Droid Forums (username Tedmeister there) if anyone is interested in looking at those posts (and the many folks experiencing similar issues).   Verizon support is clueless, and only suggests another factory reset "try and see if it works".  Sigh.
The problem has gotten MUCH worse since the 2.3 Gingerbread update, as well as some additional handset problems being introduced by that update.  Some of these Verizon has also admitted knowing about, and just say 'Google is working on the fix'.
I am pretty much at the end of the rope on the calendar sync issue.   The only thing I have not yet tried is to hurl the Droid X through the window and go buy an iPhone  :-)
So anyone out there who has looked into this deeply, or has any inside information about the causes and/or solution, I'd love to hear form you.

    Is it a bug?

Sorry for the huge chunk of code.
Mm, yes, I'm far too lazy to read all that.
But you should be overriding paintComponent(), not paint().

I am having the same issue, as is my husband and a friend.  We have both been subscribers to this calendar for several years and as of Jan 1 it no longer populates iCal.  I have subscribed to it again but, while it shows up in subscribed calendars it still does not populate.  I would appreciate some help.

  • Can't update Calendar Event Title or Location on IOS 7 iPhone (Google Calendar account))

I am using IOS 7 Calendar App on an iPhone 5 linked to a Google Calendar account.  I can create a new event on the iPhone and I can update the event time, the event and updated time will sync to google and other linked devices as expected.  However, if I update the event title and/or location, those changes appear to save, but then, after a few seconds, the event spontaniously reverts to the pre-update values.  The updated title/location never appear in Google or on my other linked devices.
Does anybody else have this problem or know of a solution?

This still works for me in iOS 6.1.3
Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPad?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after the iPad shuts down, then press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds). Ignore the "Slide to power off"

  • Calendar will not sync with Exchange server or most Google Calendars

    Hi,
I am writing about my wife's brand new Samsung Charge on Verizon. We managed to setup both her gmail account and her work exchange server account fine, except for the calendars:
Her Google calendar shows up fine, but I am unable to even see any other Google calendars that she has access to (both her own secondary calendars as well as calendars that others have shared with her) in order to select them to be visible.
Her exchange calendar says it is enabled (on the list of available calendars), but no events at all show up.
This behavior is with the latest software updates on the Charge (2.2.1 firmware, I510.EE4 build) using its stock calendar software. I did notice that if I use Smooth Calendar, it does list all of her Google calendars under its listing of available calendars, but it still only shows data from her primary calendar. This is also true using the Touch Calendar app, which leads me to believe that there is some problem within the Google Calendar sync software that is not allowing her calendars to appear correctly.
    Thanks!

    Hello whereizben,
I see you have posted same post in another thread.  I have already replied to that posting with a solution.  Please see the following link for my reply:

  • Public google calendar changes not showing on Pre

I set up a google account for myself and for my wife.  I shared my calendar info with my wife.  On her google account, I added my calendar and a public calendar from my kid's school.  If I make a change to my calendar the change shows up in google online and on the pre.  If the admin of the public calendar makes a change, it shows up in google online, but not on the pre.  I can remove her google account from the pre and re-add and the public calendar will be correct... UNTIL they make another change.
    Has anyone else seen this?
I'm running pre software version 1.1.0 on both my pre and my wife's and both are seeing the same problem with the same calendar, although we're each looking at our own google calendar which contains the other's shared calendar and the school calendar.
I added the school calendar to each of our google accounts by url but can't imagine why google online would update but not the pre.  It's not that the pre's aren't syncing because we can each add calendar events, on the pre or in our google accounts online, and see them show up on both devices.
Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)

    @djmpre
When in the Calendar - Is the google calendar even an option in the drop down menu? Is it recognizing it, but not pulling your scheduled events? Ifit is there, are you able to add an event to the PRE, does it appear on the web version?
if for some reason its not listed at all, select preferences and accounts, and make sure you see your google calendar listed there, and set as default - if not, i would try adding again and see if you are getting an error, or what happens - if it appears to add smoothly, check the drop down on the main calendar page again - If you are still not getting the calendar, I would check your settings/preferences on the google side -
I cant get the birthday or sports calender to sync with the PRE either -  I did noticed on the web base version of the sports calendar, if i click an event it will let me copy it to my "personal" calendar and then they will appear on my PRE

  • Multiple google calendar within iCal [10.8]

    Dear iCal experts!
I have a multible google calendar in my google account (two calendars in one account). How can I make them both availabel inside iCal?
Right now it only apears the main google calendar which is connected to my google email address.
I found some help for older iCal versions but it does not help me with the latest version of iCal (6.0).
It would be very helpful if I could see and edit all of my google calendars with OSX iCal and iOS iCal.
Thank you in advanced - best regards sascha

just got a new MBPro w/ 10.8 and was looking for this myself.
i think i stumbled across it.
calendar -> preferences -> accounts -> delegation tab
i found my 2 google calendars here.
i check the boxes and now they show up and sync in iCal 6.0.
now if i could only find some way to turn off that ugly brown skin on the title bar, i'd be really happy...
hope that's what you're looking for.  it was not obvious to me when i was tring to figure it out the 1st day...

  • Google Calendar and Google Contacts

On a previous Android phone (T-Mobile's G2), there were two apps, Google Calendar and Google Contacts. When I first got the Incredble 2 in June, I thought I remembered seeing a Google Calendar app, but now it is no longer there.
I'm interested in the Google Calendar app because I'm wondering if my syncing issues (see earlier post) is related to this? (Verizon's Calendar app is not syncing phone created events to my Google calendar).
    Thanks.

Perhaps those are the differences you are seeing when you compare the T-Mobile G2 to the Droid Incredible 2.

  • How can I move my Google calendar to iCloud calendar???

On the iPhone I sync the calendar and mail (without contacts) with google. I want to move the current Google calendar to iCloud and start syncing with it from now on.
I could export google calendar to an ical file but iCloud calendar doesn't have an import option. I don't have an Apple computer.
So, how can I back up all my google calendar entries into iCloud???
    Thanks!

So I solved this today.......I really wanted to switch everything over to iCloud calendar from Google Calendar (and had entries since 2008).....The easiest way to do this is using iCal on a Mac. The problem was I don't have a Mac. So I went down to my local Apple store (I guess you could use a friend's or work Mac as well). I asked them if I could use a Mac for a bit to get my iCloud calendar to work and was allowed to do so. Here's what I did....
I opened my google calendar on the store Mac's safari (or maybe it was firefox, I don't remember now)
I went into settings and found the export section. Then I exported all my calendars onto the desktop in a Zip file(I have 13 of them!)
Next I opened iCal on the Mac. I added 13 different calendar titles (I used the same titles from my Google calendar) under the add calendar setting (this would be so much easier if I didn't have so many different calendars)
Next I imported each calendar from the Zip file into their respective calendar titles(again this would be easy with fewer calendars but even with 13 of them it only took 10 minutes)
Finally I went to network settings, opened up iCloud setting and put in my user name and password. All my calendars uploaded to my iCloud calendar.
I opened iCloud calendar on safari and logged in. All my calendars were there. They weren't in the same colors as the one's on my google calendar but all of it was there (More on this later).
To finish up I deleted my iCloud account settings under network settings, deleted all the iCal entries, and logged off of the the iCloud and Google calendars (don't want anyone in my stuff)
When I got home I logged in to iCloud and changed the calendar colors to suit my preferences.
Sorry this was a bit long winded....all in all it took about 20-25 minutes and was really easy

  • How can I view all my google calendars in a single window?

I have my computer synced with my Google account and everything is working great.  However, when I have iCal open, the only calendar I see on the screen (and the only google calendar that shows when I click on the "Calendars" button is the "Personal" calendar.  HOWEVER, if I click on Window in the menu bar, I see all my Google calendars and can click on each one, open each in a separate iCal window, and see all of the events.
My simple question is if iCal knows I have multiple Google calendars, how do I get it to show them all inside a single iCal window?
    Update >
Ended up (finally) finding a helpful post on the discussion board that solved my issue:
Secondary Google calendars appear in ICal as delegates, giving you re-write access (more useful that subscription). You have to select these by opening iCal's Preferences > Accounts then select the Google account and select the Delegation tab to select the ones you want to see. In iCal they appear in their own top level "Delegate" section of the calendar list.

Can I upvote this? I was going to give up, and this little note solved my problem.  the delegates thing.  Wow, they bury that in the interface.

  • Using iCal with Google Calendars: can view subscribed calendars, but not add to them

Something recently happened to my google calendars causing them to all disappear from Google. Anyway, that mystery remains.
I am currently trying to re set up iCal to sync with Google Calendars and things aren't working quite right.
In iCal, I've done Calendar>Subscribe and entered the URL for that particular Google calendar. This has been completed for the 5 separate Google calendars I have and they show up in the list of subscribed calendars.
However, if I attempt to create a new event, the only calendar choice I have is for the main GMail calendar, not any of the subscribed "sub calendars".
In Preferences>Account, If I select Google and then go to the "delegation"tab, there is a message that states "You can't see delegation settings when this account is offline."
    Can anyone offer some advice?
    Thanks.

That's the part I always forget how to do. See if this answers your question:
To select which calendars to sync to your Apple device, follow these steps:
Open the Safari browser on your device and go to http://m.google.com/sync
Sign in with your account and select your device from the list of devices you've set up for Google Sync.

  • Sync Calendars like "Calendar", "Home", and "Work" with Google Calendar

When I go into the iCal program on my mac, I have three calendars that I assume iCloud/iCal creates automatically for you. The ones that are showing up for me include: "Calendar", "Home", and "Work". All of these three calendars are under the iCloud subheading. Under the Gmail subheading, I have my google calendar. I would like to be able to sync these three iCloud calendars with my google calendar, as when I create a new event in iCal, it does not show up in Google Calendar. How can I make this happen? Also, when I create an event from Google Calendar, it shows up on iCal and all of my iOS devices, however, it does not show up in iCloud.com's calendar. Why is this, and how can I fix it?

You can't.  That's not how it works.
In the iCal app, indiviudal calendars exist either locally on you Mac or in the "cloud" on a server like iCloud, Google, Yahoo!, Exchange etc.
Logging on to your iCloud account at icloud.com will only gain you access to your iCloud calendars much as logging on your Google Calendars account will only gain you access to your Google calendars.

  • Can't set Calendar Alerts for Google Calendar

I have several Google Calendars for my work and personal schedules. I've used Apple Calendar (formerly iCal) on my Mac, and the Calendar app on my iPhone to interact with my Google Calendars for years with no issues.
After upgrading to Mountain Lion, I can no longer set alerts on any Google Calendar events. When I edit a Google Calendar event using Apple Calendar, I can change any field, including the 'Alert' settings. However, when I click to save my changes, the alert settings are entirely removed.
In Calendar Preferences, I can set a default alert that applies to all my Google Calendars, but I can't change the settings for any individual calendar event. If I attempt to do so, then Apple Calendar removes all alerts from the event.
UPDATE: It seems the problem is that Google Calendar doesn't know what to do with a "Message with sound" alert type. You can use "Message" and it works fine (with no sound obviously).

Strange, I am experiencing the exact problems you describe, however it doesn't matter whether the alert is set as "message" or "message with sound".
By default, events created in a Google calendar have an alert of "mesage, 30 minutes before". If I try to change the time, add a new alert, or remove the default alert, inevitably it get's reset to the default state.
Furthermore, If I change the alert using Google Calendar in a web browser, the event in Calendar (aka iCal) doesn't get updated, it stays at 30 minutes. Sometimes I receive the alert an hour before anyway, despite what Calendar indicates. Very Frustrating.

  • Syncing is not happening when adding events to google calendar via iPhone or laptop

Google Calendar is the only calendear that I use on my iPhone.  My Google Calendar has a total of 8 "sub calendars".  If I add an event to my Google calendar via my new iPhone 5S or via the lap top-the two devices are not communicating with one another-therefore not updating each other.
I just transitioned to the iPhone 5S last Sunday.  All settings used on my previous iPhone 4 were saved and transferred to new device.
I have attempted to make changes to settings while the iPhone is syncing to laptop via ITUNES and by searching General Settings-Mail/Contacts/Calendars on phone itself, but no change has granted what I'm looking for, and I'm making more of a mess for myself. Pressing the Calendars app on phone-its home screen used to read:
    All Calendars
    IMac Calendars
All Google Calendar     *with the possiblity to check off which calendars would be seen on my phone.  This NO LONGER APPEARS this way.
    My choices now read:
    Hide All Calendars
All Google Calendar -with the option to check off all 8 sub calendars.
Google calendar is not a "new" account, again, this was set up on my old phone and working up until the switch over.
    Appreciate your help.

  • Sync from ical to Google calendar

Oddly I found this info nowhere on the net. There's lots of advice to sync Google to iCal, but getting the iCal calendars already on your mac synced to Google ? Things become hugely complicated and mostly require 3rd party apps. When in fact it's relatively simple.
    1) Sync Google to iCal. Google based calendars will appear underneath your desktop based calendars in the left hand bar of iCal. Google calendars are synced fine, but your desktop calendars are not, and that is the problem (for the moment).
    2) Select (highlight) one of your desktop calendars. File - Export and save the file somewhere on your Mac.
    3) In Google Calendar (on the internet, not in iCal), create a new calendar and give it the name of the desktop calendar you just exported.
    4) In Google Calendar, choose Import and select the file you created on your Mac. Assign it to the new calendar you created in Google.
Bingo, the calendar now appears in Google under the same name as your desktop. It also reappears a few moments later in iCal (when iCal resyncs with Google) under the Google section in the left hand bar of iCal. BUT all the entries for that calendar now appear double in iCal, once for the desktop version and once for the Google version. So :
    5) Deselect the desktop version (or remove it - you can always reimport the exported file if necessary)
    6) Proceed the same way for the rest of your desktop based calendars.
You now have all your calendars both on Google and iCal (including all past events) and they will remain synced from now on. No third party app required. The only limitation I've seen so far is that you can't create calendar groups (to archive the calendars you no longer need, for example) in Google.
    Hope this helps.

I thought the answer would be CalDav. Publishing your calendars to your server or mobileme. But when I did this nothing showed up in Gcal.
