Android/IOS IPSec Client for RV180
Hi,
I currently have an RV180 in a small business set-up and curently being accessed remotely by laptops (Quick VPN) and Ipads/Android ICS tablets (PPTP). All is working well but I've become concerned about the security risks of PPTP and would like to shift the tablets to IPSec. I'd appeciate thoughts on:
1) For a small business are the PPTP risks real?
2) What are the alternatives for Android ICS? I can't find a Quick VPN client for Android, has anyone seen one.
3) I can't get the core IPSec VPN in Android to connect to the RV180? Is this possible? Has anyone succeeded?
Look forward to any thoughts.
Regards
Andrew

I'm setting up DAP rules for AnyConnect clients. When I set the default policy to terminate, I get the right results from AnyConnect connections, but all IPSec clients cannont connect. I know I need to set up a DAP rule for IPSec clients to allow them through, but can't remember how to set that up.
Ok, that worked. Follow-up question though. So the only thing I'm looking at doing right now is setting up a policy to look at Anti-virus and disallow if the signature is more than a week old. Works fine with the AnyConnect. But if I add that to the IPSec rule (app = ipsec and av exists (< 7 days), it won't let the IPSec client connect at all. I seem to recall something about if we're doing posturing with IPSec client, we have to use endpoint assesment or pre-login policy? Is that the case; it would be nice to do it all w/in one DAP rule.
Thanks

Directory Caching issue with Cisco Jabber client for Windows
Hi ,
I am facing cache issue with Cisco Jabber client for Windows. If I do any change related to modification or deletion of contacts in Active Directory/ Callmanager, it does not reflect in the Jabber. Because jabber takes the contacts from the locally stored cache file in the Windows system.
Every time I have to remove the cache file to overcome this issue, practically it's not possible to do the same with all the Widows users. As, if any employee leaves the company and still I can see his contact appears in the "Cisco Jabber client". I have not seen this issue with Android/Apple iOS.
Is there any automated way to remove the cache file?
Here is the detail of CUCM,Presence and Jabber.
CUCM version: 9.1.x
Presence : 9.1.X
Jabber : 10.5 and 10.6Hello
On our environment we had to install a dedicated Microsoft Certificate Authority "just for Cisco Jabber usage" to house the
Network Device Enrollment Service.
Our certificate for the CUPS were generated on this Certification Authority too.
I discussed this certificate matter with my colleagues this afternoon and nobody seems to remember how these certificates were deployed into the
Enterprise Trust store for the users.
But I think they asked all 400 users to accept the 3 certificates by answering "yes" to the popup instead of using a script deployed by GPO...
I wish you success with that deployment and really hope you have a technical partner that *Knows* this subject.
Our partner left us alone with that unfortunately.
Florent
EDIT: If the "Certutil script method" works, please let me know. This could be useful in our own deployment. -
Are there any plans to have a Cisco Jabber client on linux?
Mike,
The larger body of use case and development for Jabber has centered on Windows and mobile iOS and Android devices. That's not to say that there isn't a contingency of customers that want a Linux client but, as of today, there is no "Jabber" client for that platform. However, I've heard this question asked in a few different forums and the answer thus far has typically been one or both of the following:
1) There is a Jabber SDK, which could potentially be used to custom develop an application.
2) Use 3rd-party XMPP client (e.g. Pidgin)
As for an official answer on "will there be in the future" with a yes/no/maybe and/or a possible timeframe, you would need to reach out to Cisco or your trusted partner as roadmap items cannot be discussed without having a non-disclosure agreement in place. That's what Jamie is getting at in his response.

Hi,
I have a testing environment which I configured according to the instructions here:

Any idea what I can do to resolve this issue?
Thanks,

Official RDP client for all major platforms and certificate issue only on windows
We have been fully embracing RDS and remote apps(working great internally). On the four major platforms OSX iOS Android and Windows we are using the official Microsoft application to connect to "Remote Resources" through VPN. Every platform besides
windows just popped up a certificate error you could accept. The windows client from the windows store was a miserable experience by going to the webpage and installing the certificate into the Trusted Root Certification Authorities. Something no end user
will be able to achieve.
Why is the windows experience worse then the other 3 platforms. I am by no means certificate expert. Is this where we purchase an offical certificate and not have this issue? Still doesn't explain the lack of user friendliness on windows compared to the
other OS'esHi,
I understand what you mean. One thing to keep in mind is that making it as easy as it is on the non-windows clients for end users to simply choose to trust the certificate and proceed is a security risk. If the end users would contact their admin
via phone and verify that the thumbprint shown matches the cert thumbprint on the server then it would be okay, but people generally will not do that.

How to create a VPN client for Windows Phone 8.1?
We have our own VPN client for Windows and Android. I would like to create a VPN client for Windows phone 8.1. After referring these site I found that there are some third
party VPN plugins available for WP 8.1.
I checked OpenVPN but it is also not available for WP 8.1.
Is there any APIs available for creating a VPN client in WP 8.1 similar to
VpnService provided by Android SDK ?The VPN APIs for WP8.1 are not open at this time.

Is there really a Cisco VPN client for Linux? _Really?_
Hello folks,
I've finally after almost experiencing a brain aneurysm by trying to think too hard got my Cisco 881-SEC-K9 router properly configured for a multipoint IPSec VPN tunnel to my Amazon Virtual Private Cloud, so that hurdle is finally passed and I actually feel it was a very important milestone in my life somehow. I never thought I'd see the day I actually got my hands on a legitimate Cisco non-stink... erm.. I mean, non-linksys router. Now I just can't seem to find a 'client' VPN program for Linux. I'm currently running a Xen Hypervisor environment on openSUSE Linux because it's the only Linux distribution that completes all of my strenous requirements in a Linux server environment. It's also the most mature, and secure Linux on this planet, making it the most appreciable Linux distribution for my research needs. Using NetworkManager is not really an option for a basic Linux server environment, and OpenVPN is just too confusing to comprehend for my tiny little head. I've heard mention of some mysterious "Easy VPN" but after hours of digging online can't find any information about it, even the Cisco download link leads to a Page Not Found error. I do see a Linux VPN API for the AnyConnect program, but is that an actual VPN client, or just an API? It seems to want my money to download it but I don't have any money nor do I really know what it is because it's all secretive-like, closed source, and I can't even find a simple README file on it explaining what it is exactly. I'm just an out-of-work software developer trying to connect to my home router for personal use and I can't really afford to fork over a million and a half dollars for a single program that I'm only going to need to download once in my lifetime that should have been included with the router in the first place. I more than likely won't even be able to figure out how to use the program anyways because I don't know anything about VPN connections which is why I bought this router so I can try to figure it all out as part of the not-for-profit open source, volunteer research I'm presently trying to conduct. Is there some kind of evaluation or trial period for personal use? That would be really nice so I could at least figure out if I'm going to be able to figure it out or not. I hate throwing money away when it's in such short supply these days. There's really no alternative to a Cisco router. It's an absolute necessity for the things I'm trying to accomplish, so trying to settle for something else and going on with my life is not really an option. No, this is something I just need to face head on and get it over with.
<Rant>
Maybe I have a little too much crazy in me for my own good, but I don't see why it should take so much money just to learn how to do something for personal reference, it's not really a skill I would ever use otherwise. Wouldn't it be great if Cisco made their VPN client open source and free to the public to use and modify, to improve on, to learn and to grow and bring the whole world closer together as a community? Even the source code to the old discontinued Cisco VPN client could be used as a valuable learning tool for some poor starving college student or Open Source Software developer somewhere trying to get by on Ramen Noodles and Ramen Noodle Sauce on Toast (don't tell me you never thought about it). Through the ripple effect, It would drastically improve sales over the course of time, because it would open the door to a whole new market where those who previously could not afford to participate now could. That's the true power of Open Source. It creates a more skilled work force for the future by openly contributing and sharing knowledge together. What if the next big internet technology and the solution to world tyranny - the solution to end all wars forever - were locked in the mind of an unemployed software developer who couldn't afford to upgrade their cisco router software or access the software they needed because it was closed source and required committing to an expensive service contract to download? That would be just terrible, wouldn't it? I guess there's no way to ever know for sure. I suppose I'd be just as happy if some kind soul out there could point me to an easy to use alternative to an always on VPN connection that runs in the background which doesn't require NetworkManager or having to spend days upon days digging through and trying to comprehend either some really poor or extremely complex documentation? I apologize for all the run on sentences posed as questions, but I've just got some serious mental burnout from all of this, being unemployed is some hard work folks. I could really use a vacation. Perhaps a camping trip to the coast is in order after I get this working, that sounds nice, doesn't it? Nothing like a good summer thunder storm on the ocean beach - far away from technology - to refresh the mind.
</Rant>I do tend to talk too much and I don't mince any words either. What I am however, is really appreciative for the help. I know you hear that all the time, but you have no idea how much time and headache you just saved me. I think vpnc might be just what I've been looking for, unless someone can think of a client for Linux that I might be able to throw a little further. I'm very security minded now, after the backlash of Blackhat 2013, there's no telling which direction the internet might head next. Oh, you didn't hear? Well wether they realize it or not, DARPA basically declared war with other government agencies by releasing their own version of a spy program for civilians to use against the whoever -- possibly even the governmnet itself. They even went so far as to suggest it's private usage to blanket entire cities in information gathering. Civilians are a powerful foe, as they are not bound by the oath of office, any evidence they obtain is admissible in court, wether they know that or not. There's a very important reason for that. It's to prevent another civil war from ever happening, we shed enough blood the first time around less people forgot. It's something that can and will be avoided because our civilization has advanced beyond the need for bloodshed. The courts have to obey the majority rule, no matter what. For the first time in history, cyberwarfare can reach into the physical world to cause serious damage to physical structures like the nuclear facility incident in Iran. There's scarry bills trying to sneak through congress that are changing the landscape of technology forever for the entire world. We're at a pivotal point now where things can happen. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out over the next decade or so. No matter which way you look at it, just be preparerd to sell a whole lot of routers.

Lion Server: iOS 5 clients can't connect to Address Card Server
I have set up shared accounts on the server for Calendar and Address Book (family) sharing. Although I can add and use the Address Book shared account on OS X Lion clients, I can't get this to work on iOS 5 clients (iPhone nor iPad). I keep on getting "CardDAV account verification failed".
Calendar sharing works just fine on both OS X and iOS5 clients
Let me briefly describe my setup and observations:
Server:
Running Lion Server 10.7.2 on Mac Mini (server)
Using SSL connections with keys generated during set-up of the server
Portforwarding in router (ao) for 8008 and 8843 (iCal and Address Book)
Created shared accounts on server for Calendar ("sharedcalendar") and Address Book ("sharedcontacts")
In the DNS server I created services in my primary zone for "_caldavs._tcp." and "_carddavs._tcp." both on port 8443
OS X Client (Calendar)
Created additional CalDAV account in preferences (user "sharedcalendar")
Left the server settings untouched (server path, port "auto" and using SSL but not Kerberos)
Created in "sharedcalendar" different calendars and reminder lists for the family members which each can access from their OS X client
This account is now set-up through Profile Manager (tried this with Address Book as well but didn't make any difference)
iOS 5 Client (Calendar)
Once tested on standalone and got this working I'm now using the Profile Manager to push the definition of the shared account to all clients
Hostname with port 8443 (default)
Left Principal URL blank since it was optional
User "shared calendar" with the appropriate password
Ticked "Use SSL"
OS X client (Address Book)
Created additional CardDAV account in preferences (user "sharedcontacts").
Left the server settings untouched (port 443 using SSL)
iOS 5 client (Address Book)
In the settings add a CardDAV account (server, user "sharedcontacts", password, description).
First error message "Cannot connect Using SSL. Do you want to try setting up the account without SSL?". When I press continue I get the error "CardDAV account verification failed"
If I then save the account details still and edit the account I can access the "advanced settings". When I change to SSL I have tried port 0 (default value), 8443 (the one that's listed in the documentation) and 8843 (which is used by default if you try to set up the
account in Profile Manager). All to no avail, including Profile Manager
Observations:
Lion Server app nicely lists both Calendar and Address Book Server as active (plus Profile Manager, File Server, Web server and Wiki server)
When I access my server home page, Calendar is listed in addition to other services (Mail | Calendar | Change Password | Profile Manager) but not Address Book. Is this normal behaviour? i.e. can't Address Book entries be changed through a web interface?
Address Book on OS X client uses 443 for SSL but does not require me to define port 8443 for secure iCal or Address Book server communications
Lion Server Profile Manager specifies port 8843 as port for SSL communication. I only saw 8443 listed in documentation
The response "can't connect .." or "account verification failed" happens very quick which make me think either the verification doesn't even leave the iPad or there is something wrong in the SSL connection
Since iCal set-up works nicely using the same ports I am puzzled why it doesn't work for Address Book
Your solutions or suggestions how to investigate are most welcome,
ErikThanks for joining the discussion.
Although port 8443 is mosten quoted as correct port for CalDAV and CardDAV, port 8843 can be found both on Apple's website and other places:
see Technical Note 1649 to find port 8443 listed for iCal and port 8843 for Address Book
Mac OS X Lion Server for Dummies (sic) lists port 8843 on pages 236 and 238 but port 8443 in many other places
when you want to push iCal and Address Book information with Profile Manager, Profile Manager lists port 8443 for iCal but port 8843 for Address Book as default:
So I hope you understand I'm somewhat puzzled.
I did get the Address Book working for my Lion desktops with the all the necessary certificates as far as I know, just not for the iOS devices (iPhone and IpPad). iCal sharing from Lion Server works fine on both Lion and iOS devices. -
Edit Anyconnect IPSEC Client text
Hi
I am trying to edit the text in the any connect client for new and existing users of the client who make IPSEC connections to my ASA.
I have followed the following cisco document:-
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/vpn_client/anyconnect/anyconnect30/administration/guide/ac11customize.html
I want to edit the text in the box which prompts you for group, username and password having clicked connect following the applications launch. I want Password: to change to Token Number:
Following the above document I have edited the template in
Configuration > Remote Access VPN > Network (Client) Access > AnyConnect Customization/Localization > GUI Text and Messages
I changed the following by adding an entry in the quotation marks for msgstr
#: 0300000000000000e4fe180003000000
#: 0300000000000000e4fe180003000000
msgid "Password:"
msgstr "Token Number:"
Following saving the changes on the ASA I have uninstalled the IPSEC Any Connect client on my client machine and reinstalled it. The change is not recognised in the reinstalled client and I presume this is because the information isn't pulled down from the ASA each time a new connection is established.
Any help would be great
thanksCan anyone offer any advice as to how to change the text in the any connect login box?

Does the iOS app allow for digital signatures ?
does the iOS app allow for digital signatures ?
Hi,
Currently, Adobe Reader mobile products (for iOS, Android, Windows Phone) do not support digital signatures. But you can add handwritten signatures (as annotations) to PDF documents.
For digital signatures for legally binding documents and contracts, I'd recommend the desktop version of Adobe Reader or Acrobat Pro/Standard. Alternatively, you can use Adobe EchoSign for e-signatures.

Is there a compatible Swyx client for iPad?
At work we use SwyxIt! VoIP clients in the office with our own SwyxWare servers, currently Swyx 5.03 on one site and Swyx 7 on another. I read rumours of an official Swyx client for iPhone but that was dated 2009, just wondering if anyone knows anything about this or what I should look for in a compatible iPad app if there is such a thing. I am told that Swyx can be picky about clients so I don't want to go trying any old thing and find that it crashes the live server (which would be a disaster!) I am the IT administrator so I have complete access to the Swyx server, I know how to configure Swyx for SwyxIt! clients and Swyx phones but have never tried anything else.
I have a first gen iPad running the latest iOS as supplied through iTunes.I don't see anything more recent than that, when they announced a web app for accessing their service, not a native iOS app. There's no native app listed in the iTunes Store, the only source for iPad apps, so it would appear that no official app is available and going through their web interface is the only option.
Regards.

Using an 8.0 client with a 6.5 server
We currently have an application running on AIX and Tuxedo Client 6.5, that connects to a 6.5 server. We are thinking on migrating the application to Linux, and found that Linux is only supported for Tuxedo 7.1 and higher. Would there be any problem

Is it possible to pin tabs in IE 11? I don't mean pin them to the task bar, I mean pin them to stay open. Chrome allows us to right click and "pin tab" and it moves over to the left and remains open and returns to its place next time we open Chrome.

An Applescript error appending to list objects - I believe this is a bug?
Try this on your machine.... Step 1: Paste this script into your Script Editor and Save it to any file name you want to give it. Step 2: Run the script and hit Command-S to save the script. set xLimit to 8144 set aList to {} repeat with I from 1 to x
