Android Market Force Close

My phone's firmware was recently updated, which I assume is in preparation for Android 2.3. Unfortunately, those updates have caused me to have to uninstall and reinstall most of my downloaded apps for them to function correctly.
However, as of about an hour ago, my Android Market will no longer allow me to download or reinstall apps. As soon as I choose to download the ap, I am prompted with a force close message. The process is com.android.vending.
Is anyone else experiencing this issue? I have powered off, removed the battery, etc, and the problem remains. Is there any way to uninstall and reinstall the Android Market?
Sorry for all the questions. Thanks,

None of those solutions worked. It seems as if a factory reset is the only immediate solution. I'd like to try and wait for Gingerbread, in hopes that the upgrade might resolve the problem. However, now that the end of Q2 has come and gone, and we still don't have Gingerbread, I'm no longer holding my breath.
Because of this, I have a question. I have apps installed on my phone, all of them on the SD card. If I do a factory reset to the phone, will this erase all of the saved data within those apps? ...even though they are installed on my SD card?
Thanks,

  • Periodic sluggishness and Android core force closes since latest OTA update.

Has anybody else been experiencing this?  The phone was pretty close to perfect up until the latest OTA update last week or so.  Since then it has random periods of sluggishness where the phone essentially freezes up for a while; and worse: at times I'll get some android.process.acore stopped unexpectedly message which usually goes back to a blank HTC logo screen before recovering at the Home screen..
Nothing else has changed aside from the update.

Yes my droid is doing the same things as yours.  Mine also is doing crazy things.  I have different  ringtones sent for different people and it still rings with the default ring tone.  This SUCKS!   I love my phone but it is getting on my NERVES!!!!!

  • Application Email (processcom.android.email) - Force Close ....keeps popping up?

How do you do that?  I have gotten the same message!

I went and had a "hard reset" after trying for 3 hours with suggestions.  It came back.  This is an awful phone and I'm getting poor service (as usual).

  • Downloading files from filesharing sites causes the Android market to force close.

After the last big Android Market update, any time I download a file from a filesharing site like Rapidshare a prompt asks me to force close the Android Market. This continues throughout the download but stops once the file has been downloaded.

yes i am having that problem too, but i do not know how to fix it either

  • Force close com.android.systemui and other bugs after update to 4.4.2 (A3500-H)

    After update to 4.4.2:
-System gets force close when user rolls out statusbar (this in right side with shortcuts) then rotates the device in home screen (launcher),
-Statusbar is not transparent in custom launchers (eg. Nova Launcher which supports this function)
-Default e-mail app doesn't update IMAP e-mail list (on demand, auto update works good) I tested tlen.pl provider
-Button to change lock screen wallpaper doesn't work

There is no any answer,  Lenovo?
I even wrote e-mail to your support and also no answer.
I add to this list often tablet freeze for few minutes after attempt to run some movies using H/W codecs
    I can't even do downgrade...

  • Phone updated to build 3.26.605.1, Now I get "Force Close" on most apps

    Recently my incredible Rebooted.
When it came back it said "Software Updated to build 3.26.605.1"
Now I get "Force Close" on most apps including the Android market.
What is this build & how do I get rid of it !!!
PS: this phone is 12 months old with no problems until today.

I am having the same problem.  I got some kind of a notification a couple of weeks ago that there was a component update available (can't remember the words but a puzzle piece showed up in the status bar), but I ignored it at the time.  About a week later (1st week of May) my Incredible crashed and rebooted while using Nav, then it went into a reboot loop until I pulled the battery.  When it came back, most of my apps Forced Closed on me and I lost all of my contacts and stuff.  This did not make me happy.
I restored the contacts via backup assistant (thank you) and then had to un-install and re-install all my broken apps.  The phone still doesn't feel right after this (sorry, that's subjective and unclear, but it's just not it's old self.)  Then this last Saturday, we're driving down the road and I'm using tethering with a Netbook (I have the tethering plan) and the phone crashes and loops again.  Again, I have to pull the battery.  Again, most of my apps force-close.  A little further down the road (haven't had a chance to reload apps yet) it crashes and boot-loops again, forcing me to remove the battery.
If I check to see if the software is up to date, the phone says it is.  My baseband version is 2.15.00.07.28, my kernel version is 2.6.32.17-g9a2fc16, and the build number is 3.26.605.1 CL264707 release-keys.
Everything as fine before this, I was a happy user.  Now, the phone software seems very brittle.

  • Android Market After Update 2.2

So when I updated my phone to 2.2, I went to the market to download some apps, but now everytime I try to download an app it says "Android Market experienced a problem" something like that and then I have to choose force close. What do you guys think is wrong with it? Everything else is working good.

No, I haven't done the soft reset, does that mess up anything in my phone like my contacts and other stuff? Thanks for the help but I just tried the market again and it still doesn't work haha. I don't know if it stopped working because of the update 2.2, before the update the market was working good.

  • Droid Incredible 2 Keyboard forces close

This has been happening for about 2 weeks now, when I am sending a text message...right in the middle of typing it, the on-screen keyboard forces close then I have to write the whole text over again...it is very frustrating. Anyone else having this issue, if not, any suggestions on how to fix it??

pinkinlove87, I understand how frustrating this can be because the keyboard is used for almost most functions on the phone. When did this issue start occurring? Was it after you downloaded an application? I recommend some trouble-shooting steps that may help resolve this issue. First, try removing the battery for 1-2 minutes to perform a soft reset for your device. Secondly, try putting the phone into safe mode. Safe Mode temporarily disables all applications that have been installed via the Android Market. Performing this troubleshooting step can help determine whether a 3rd party application is the cause of an Operating System / Application issue. I will list the steps below for enabling and disabling safe mode.
    Steps to Enable Safe Mode
Press and hold the Power button.
    Select Power off.
    Slide the keyboard open.
    Press the Power button.
Press and hold the OK key.
Continue to hold the OK key until Safe mode appears in the lower-left of the unlock screen.
This may take up to 30 seconds.
While in Safe Mode, remove the most recently installed applications.
Power cycle the device then attempt to use the device.
If the device works properly, install applications one at a time to identify the application causing the problem.
    Steps to Disable Safe Mode
Press and hold the Power button.
    Select Power off.
Let me know if the above steps help.

  • Google play force close on open

I just got a slightly used HP touch pad and on setup realized that I needed to use Google play to download apps, after setting up my Google account and singing in insuring wifi access ......Google play opens says "server error retry" and force closes the program. Since then I have done some research factory reset the tablet, installed latest updates, force closed through app settings and erased all info for Google play reset the I connection rebooted several times, and made sure time date and location were correct. I am still experiencing the same problem with the app. If anybody has any ideas that might help me it would be highly appreciated :-)

    Hello Rockafied!
The HP TouchPad comes with webOS installed as its operating system.   Yours has been modified to add Android to it, and as such we don't officially support this type of change to the device.
That said, there is an app existing called "gapps_fixer.zip" existing in the wild.  This may or may not solve your problem.
If you are unfamiliar with hacking this device, or how CM9 or CM10 was installed on it, it may require some research on your part to learn how to fix the issue.  Visit the "Android on the TouchPad" section of webosnation.com for some insight.

  • K1: apps are forced close + can't connect to internet + can't factory reset

All of a sudden, my ideapad K1 keep poping up messages saying that **** has stopped unexpectedly and force close.
I try to upgrade the fireware while realize there is no wifi connect (the wifi works well on my other devices).
After trying tons of method, including calling the customer service who seems cares nothing and only ask me to do a factory reset. I eventually decieded to do the most stupid fix -- factory reset while told that "com.android.setting" has stopped unexpectedly and exits.
I try to delete the application one by one and after reboot, all the applications are still there.
So basically I can't do nothing change.
Any one has any idea how to solve the problem or how can I do a hard factory reset? Thanks in advance.
BTW: why my panel for this community is in Espanol even though I set it to English?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

This might help in this situation,
As I mentioned in another post, if you start having forced closes or any other abnormal behaviour on your tablet or phone etc. shut it down completly and start it again. If that does not help go to settings and open up the applications box, and then open up "Manage applications". Choose "Running" and look at the applicatiions that are using the most memory. some of them are necessary, but others are not. If you see an application running that you never use, go back to "All" and delete the offending application. This should free up more memory, making your tablet more stable.... Hope this helps....
And if you can't shut down the tablet, let it run without charger until the battery runs down and it shuts off that way. Then charge the battery and try starting it again....
I have had my tablet since late october 2011 and have had no problems except if I try to set the brightness on auto. Just leave it on manual and go from there.

  • K1 - update - Force close

    Good evening,
few hours ago turned on my K1, and got a pop-up about updating the system. After hitting update, there was some loading bar with android guy, then it restarted.
From this point after turning it on I see the lenovo screen and Nvidia intro for like 2 times in row, then it leads me to the hold screen. As soon as I unlock the screen, there are loads of errors coming at me asking for force close. All of them are getting closed, however the last one called launcher popups endlessly.
I can't press anything on the screen as the popup blocks other buttons.
So my question is, what on earth happend and how to solve it? It's on warranty, however it is a painful process, any thing i can do about it?

Yes, just now tried to do the reset, nothing changed.
About the system update, i think it is impossible in my case, as I'm not able to press anything expect the "force close" button on the popups.
Update: I have found the solution, after you press force close you got some little time to press somewhere else, by that method after pressing for 5 min I successfuly got into the setting panel and made factory reset.

  • Android Market not loading on my Idea Pad K1

    Hello,
When I launch the Android market I get a message that "Your client is out of date. It will be automatically updated shortly". It has not , further more I am unable to update or download any other apps from Google. I looked into this with Google and they are indeed haiving an issue but they say it should be resloved. Their web site says if you need immediate updates you should reset the tablet (WHICH IS NOT AN OPTION) for me for a whole bunch of reasons, the primary reason is that LE Tools does NOT provide a complete back up.
Is there another soft rest option>
    Thanks!

I'm sure you've tried this, but just in case:
Mine didn't autoupdate but I was able to force all my Google stuff to update by opening Market, then clicking on My Apps in upper right, then scrolling down the list of each app and clicking on update.

  • HTC Rhyme "Force close"

I have a HTC Rhyme, and constantly get into the screen/message of "Sorry! Activity HTC Sense (in application HTC Sense) is not responding. Force close; Wait". After I clicked "Force close", a white screen of "HTC" came up and the phone was frozen for a while before it came up again. Meanwhile, my Yahoo emails do not show up in notifications and only after I go into "Mail" to refresh did the new mails show up. This is getting really annoying. I even went into local VZW stores a couple of times to have it fixed, and it's still recurring. Any insight or tips to solve this? Is it unique to Rhyme?

        Hello there Whe!
Oh no! Force closing messages are never fun on Android devices.  This particular error message is definitely not unique to your phone, and I will be delighted to go over some options for you.
The force close error message generally implies that something has gone wrong with an application on your phone, so it needs to close.  Generally you can repair this by uninstalling and reinstalling that particular application.
If you're getting an "HTC Sense" Force close this generally means something with the actual HTC operating system is failing.  On many occasions this would mean a hard reset of your phone would need to be completed.
You would want to ensure all of your media is saved on your SD Card and that your contacts are backed up to either gmail or backup assistant.  You would also visit www.google.com/play and log in with your gmail and click "My Android Apps" to reinstall your applications.
You can reset your phone by following these steps:

Please let us know how this worked for you!

  • Android Market Error

Every few days (or every few attempts) when I try to go to the market for some apps, I get a white screen that reads "Market needs background data to be enabled." The funny thing is, it's enabled and it will eventually correct itself without any help from me, however I don't want to wait a few days for it to go back to normal. I don't know what to do and it's kind of **bleep** me off. I never get anything like that on my ipad (and I was talked into getting the htc thunderbolt over the iphone4 by the sales girl at a best buy cell phone store in the mall, already found out she lied about so many freakin' things.)  I'm wondering if there's a way to fix this, if it's something the android market does frequently or if it's just my phone, and what I can do about it.
Thanks for any help. Sorry if it's been posted before, I didn't really know what to search for.

Good afternoon and thank you to the community for your suggestions!

    5. Select the application. (Market)
    6. Select Force stop then select Clear data.
    7. Select OK.
Once this is completed, please try restarting your device, and you should stop getting the error message when attempting to access the Market.
    Reset device:
    1. Press and hold down the Power button (upper-right corner).
    2. Select Power off.
    3. Press the Power key to power on the device.
