Animate within a symbol using "named anchors"

hi everyone,
i would like to set up navigation of 3 colored buttons (red, blue & green) that will scroll on mouse down to the corresponding large colored rectangle.

in the below link, there is a file that i was able to make the blue & green buttons work if pressed from when the page first opens in the browser.
but how to get the buttons to work if you are on "green" and want to go to "blue" or "red"?

Using named anchors

Hi everybody,
Let's say I have a two column layout with a series of links inside the left column (sidebar). Is it recommended to use named anchors to link text in one DIV to text inside another? Can I create a menu inside the sidebar and then target text inside the mainContent DIV? I've done a few tests and it seems to work well, but I'm not sure if this is the best way to do this. If not, can anybody recommend a better alternative?

Reating an HTML Table Contents using named Anchors

I have a on website:
http://www.vpea.org/Bylaws/Test/bylaws_toc.htm
a table of contents for our Association Bylaws. Just in case
I've created named anchors using titles such as article_I,
article_II, etc.
is there anyway to make when clicking on a given TOC entry
that it will go to that point perhaps highligting it, going to that
point the document?

firstly, if you have multiple rows.. you need to start each row with <tr> and end with a </tr>. You just have one in the beginning and end,which will obivously give data in one row.

Using Named Anchors with Dynamic PHP Pages

I have a web app that uses PHP to generate pages out of a
MySWL database. The links to the page look something like:
www.domain.com/display.php?id=300.
On this page I'd like to include a link to an anchor towards
the bottom with a feedback form. I have a named anchor called
"add_rating". The link I'm using is
"www.domain.com/display.php?id=300#add_rating".
This link doesn't work in any browser/OS combination I've
tried and so it must be my code. Any help?

Html link to a named anchor within a PDF file?

So, I want a link on a web page to hop to a specific part of
a pdf file.
Same thing as using named anchors really. The issue I see
here is that the
web pag (link) has no real notion of pdf's implementation of
anchors, so how
could it know to utilise them?
I assume this is not possible, but need to make sure.

Albert,
In my case I was using a named anchored object to get a handle to an actual
service object. My named object that I registered in the name service was
an intermediary to which I did not maintain a connection. So I have not
explicitly tested what you are asking.
However, I too was not using a hard coded reference to the SO, and fail over
and load balancing worked fine. The functions of fail over and load
balancing are not done by the service object but by the name service, proxy
and router. Since you are getting a proxy back any time you do a lookup in
the name service I would think that fail over should work with any anchored
object that is registered in the name service. When you do a RegisterObject
call you will notice that one of the arguments is the session duration,
which implies to me that fail over will be handled the same as for service
objects.
Load balancing adds another wrinkle. Load balancing is handled by a router.
You must get a proxy to the router and not a proxy to an instance of the
object that the router is doing the load balancing for. In the latter
scenario you will be bypassing the router. If you are creating, anchoring
and registering your objects dynamically you will not have a router so you
will not be able to load balance! This applies even if the objects are
instantiated within partitions that are load balanced because you will still
be getting proxies back to a particular instance of the anchored objects.
There are ways to accomplish load balancing between objects that you
register yourself. However, the best solution will vary depending on the
actual problem trying to be solved. If you would like to discuss this
further, include a little more detail about the scenario you need to
implement and I will give you what I know.
BTY what I have outlined above also applies to getting references via a
system agent.

I can not comment on the speed difference because I never tested it.
But, I
will say that we looked at the agent solution at a client sight
before. I
will give the same warning I gave them. If you go the agent direction
you
are now using agents for a purpose that they were not intended. Even
though
it technically works, as soon as you start using a piece of
functionality in
a way the developer did not intend it to be used you run the risk of
forward
compatibility problems. By this I mean, since agents were not
originally
intended to be used to look up service / anchored object references,
it may
not work in the future because it is not likely to be given
consideration in
any future design.
As we all know, programmers are always stretching the bounds of the
tools
they use and you may have a good reason (i.e. performance). I just

let you know the possible risk.

Named Anchor?

I have used named anchors before when I am trying to link
something within that page but when I have something on a different
page and want to have a link take a person to a certain spot on a
different page, it doesn't seem to be working.
Are named anchors only relevant when on the same page? And if
so, does anyone know what options there are to linking to a certain
spot on a different page? Hope my question makes sense and is
clear.

If you set a variable on stage ,say
sym.setVariable("stageVariable", "I am stage variable");
You can access it from within a symbol using :
var myVariable = sym.getComposition().getStage().getVariable("stageVariable");
Basically you need to get handle to the symbol in which the variable is defined.

Named Anchor Hyperlink Problem

Has anyone used "named anchor hyperlinks" or bookmarks to jump from one location to another on the same page? (Portal version 9.0.4)

I've used this method:
in edit page mode, reach your portlet, clink on edit defaultas link on its right and as display name use
<a name="xyz">Display_name</a>
Then take the address of the page
http://servername/servlet/page?_pageid=NNN,MMM,624&_dad=portal30&_schema=portla30#XYZ
adding #xyz at the end of the link.
This is my experience, it works.

Normally, when using the the default "Flash Only" setting in the HTML publish settings, you can set the dimensions to 100 x 100 percent. This will make the Flash movie fill the browser window and resize with the browser.
I'm using named anchors and am using the "Flash with Named Anchors" setting in the HTML publish settings. Everything else is the same as when I use the "Flash Only" template. However, when I publish this HTML document it is not filling the browser window correctly. Instead, the movie is being displayed as if I had set the movie size to 100 x 100 pixels instead of percent. In other words, the Flash movie is squeezed into a size of 100 x 100 pixels. Something is causing it to misinterpret percent as pixels.
I've looked at the HTML document and it correctly says width="100%" height="100%". This problem occurs in Firefox 3.6. Everything displays correctly in IE8 and Safari 5. Thank you in advance to anybody with advice or a solution.

It has nothing to do with what Dreamweaver will let you do
nor not do, it has to do with what you the panels are "told" to do
in certain situations. In this case you want to open a specific
panel, preferably based upon the anchor name that you're already
using. Take a look at the URL Utilities sample page, in particular
at the last example:

This means you'd need to get the full Spry download:

If you wanted, you could add a query string parameter like
the above example does, but that might mean changing a lot of
links.
Or you could modify the example code above to "slice" out the
first letter of the anchor and figure out the index of the tab to
show (they use a 0 based index, so 'a' would 0 and 'z' would be 25.

Named anchor like link in textfield

I'm trying to get links in a textfield that link to
paragraphs in that textfield. The same as you would do in html
using named anchors.
For now I've an asfunction href in the text that searches the
textfields text for a certain substring using indexOf. This gives
me a position index of that substring in the text.
Then I use a search for "\r" to get the number of lines
before the position index is reached. I then use this number of
lines value as a scroll value for the textfield. This works but
since the textfield is textwrapped I never get the correct amount
of lines, because the textfield actually has more lines than it has
"\r" linebreaks.
Does anybody have an idea how to solve this issue?

Instead of inserting an tag and style it so it looks
right. Then replace the z with a when you save it.

Links to id's and named anchors within a page in an iframe do not open in firefox

In order to force layout of my liquid website, I use i-frames to display content . It is all on my sight www.rdelutherie.com, and I am not displaying pages from other sights. The links to sections of pages from within the same page do not work in firefox.
I have had this problem before with named anchors, and in moving up to html5 and in making my site accessible for people with dissabilities, I started using <nav> eliments... and changed from named anchors to links to ID's like this:
In an unordered list I have these:

They link to sections of the same page like this one:

Last time I researched this problem (a year or more ago), I was told that it was because of a security risk (something about being able to count views...and other peoples proprietary and copyrighted material), but the vaguely described reasoning made little to no sense to me nor many others, who can not even link to our own stuff. The Mozilla developers were rather abrupt and some were even rude in telling us to live with it, instead of trying to come up with a solution or work around, and closed the post and disallowed further posting.
The problem still persists, and although I am not a programmer, I have a real hard time believing that it is impossible for Firefox to distinguish between links contained within a document and site, from those on different sights, domains and what have you.
As far as I know, no other browsers have this problem, so if it is such a big security risk, what is to stop someone with malicious intentions, from just using M$ IE, to bring their evil plan to fruition?
In keeping with "Making the web a better place": Please address this problem, and find a solution, workaround, or at least explain why it is impossible.

I know exactly what you mean, but I have had other page display problems with adjacent columns where one side does not display completely and seems to be conforming to the other ones height... hence the height settings and other tricks to force things to be acceptable.
I am far from understanding code, and most of the solutions, including the one in the link you posted do not have the information a novice like me would need to implement them successfully. Most of them are written for people much more advanced. Without it telling me where exactly to put the code, point to it, what I can (and should) change and remove elsewhere because of it... I am at a loss. I don't know the basics, and have tried hard to understand them, but it is not like electrical circuits, physics and other things that I can understand naturally and with ease.
I will look into it further in a few days, meanwhile I have to attend to my real work that doesn't even pay the bills completely: guitar building and repair, now that comes easy and naturally to me!

Using Components within a Symbol

Project. To create a flash box that allows a visitor to enter 1) email 2) phone number 3) preferred method of contact. Then they can hit submit. That information is sent to a php which sends an email to the administrator letting them know to contact someone.
Reason it is done in flash. I have a "tab" graphic appear and in the tab is the entry form. When they hit submit the information is sent and the tab lowers out of site then raises back up with a confirmation message that the message was sent.
Problem: The tabs work in annimation. I know that the code works to send information to php and that the php works to send the email. But, my issue is with the GUI. When the flash is rendered, the field boxes do not show up. See image below.
Setup: To get the fields to move with the tab I have them as separate objects within the symbol of the tab that moves. Could this be the issue? If so, any ideas around this problem?

Thank you Ned for that information. I have finally got some time to get back to this project. Here is what I have found. I put a trace on those objects and they are defined as TextInputs and RadioButtons.
And here is what my Timeline looks like. They are on the form layer and as is shown they animate upward from frame 1 - frame 10. Then in frame 20 the actionscript is called that I have listed previously, as well as a stop(); command. Then when the form is submitted the player proceeds and there is an animation to drop the form layer down and raise a Thank You prompt verifying that the form was submitted. And then in frame 50 another stop(); is called.
I am just missing why these objects are invisible when the .fla is rendered. Any help is appreciated to get this problem solved.
I have done preliminary testing to have the form there (no animation in) and when the form is submitted the Thank You slide covers the form. This graphically works, I have not tested the code yet. So, I may have found a round about way to fix the problem. I would still like to know though why when the textInput and RadioButton elements are placed in a graphic to be animated, they disappear.

Set image src within a symbol - How?

I have created a symbol in Edge Animate, which contains a rectangle as view area and an image and text as contents of that view area. I want to set text and image src before I start the animation of the symbol. I can set "Text" with

and when I start the animation of that symbol, the new text is used. Question now is, how I can set the image source for the item "Image" within that symbol. I have looked into the files Edge Animate creates, and the text as shown above is in a field called "text", while the name of the image is contained with other information in a field called "fill". I don't have a clue how to set the image source. Any pointers?
I don't want to create 24 instances of something for an advent calender, I just want to have one, which I fill through JavaScript, before the animation is shown. All text and all images have almost the same size, so this should be doable somehow.
The follow on question would be, whether the preloader loads all 24 images, because they are not actually referenced in any EA object...

Target Named Anchor in a Spry Collapsible Panel from a different page

Let me start by saying I have combed this forum (and others) looking for a resolution to this. I am familiar with David Powers solution on Foundationphp.com and am using that code in project to open the collapsible panel from a separate page and it works beautifullly. The problem I have is that I want the browser to move down to a specific named anchor inside that opened collapsible panel when clicked from a different page.

If I have a named anchor say <a name="species1" id="species1"></a> down in the page, how do I target that named anchor from my link on the separate page. I have tried adding the #species1 to the end of the link on the link page (see below) but with no luck. I believe those were the instructions on foundationphp.com site.
