Animated gif changes to black and white when exporting

A student created an animated gif of a solar system for class. When he tries to export it as an animated web gif, it changes everything to grayscale.

If you go to File>Image Preview, there's a drop down menu called "palette". This is probably set to black and white or greyscale. Change it to exact or adaptive.

I have been playing duo and montotone images into indesing with no trouble. Then all of a sudden as I placew them they go black and whitre. I have tried everything from re saving, re making in photoshop and differant colours et5c. But nothing seems to wrok. The images already in my document arew fine it is just new ones. If someone could help that would be great

Can you start a new document and then load one of the duotones known to be good in the working file and have it correct? If so, try one of the duotones known to be bad in the working document in the new file. Does it work?
If no to either suggestion, can you share one of the images known to be good and one known to be bad? ZIP 'em up and upload to dropbox and plop a link here. Or, to keep the file sizes down, you can quickly make a new set and provide those.
As well, the ID version and OS info would probably be helpful.

It sounds like your screen is flashing unexpectedly on you for some reason. I would recommend this section from the following article to help you get that resolved, named:

Reset the system
You can reset the Mac's parameter RAM and SMC.
Reset the resolution
Start by resetting the Mac's parameter RAM. If the display does not come up, was previously set to an unsupported resolution, and still results in no video:
Start up in Safe Mode.
From the Apple () menu, choose System Preferences.
Choose Displays from the View menu to open the preferences pane.
Select any resolution and refresh rate that your display supports.
Restart your computer.

My iMac screen suddenly turn black and white when I'm in fullscreen mode. What could be the cause of this problem?

Hi, once in a while the screen on my 5K imac turns black and white when I'm on youtube watching videos in fullscreen mode. It also exits the fullscreen mode automatically from one second to the next and a warning pops up saying how I can exit the fullscreen mode. Does anyone have an idea why this happens and if this is a software or hardware problem?

I'm using a Dell laptop with Windows 7. I've set the resolution to 1024x768, though the maximum resolution on this can go as high as 1366x768. So this is a problem that no one has been able to figure out? I've ran lots of other Flash-based applications that went fullscreen with no problem, so I'm wondering what other methods there are to try, if possible.

Normal colors are black and white when drawn or placed.

Change the color mode of your document from BitMap or Grayscale to a color mode (RGB, CMYK, or LAB).

I see that you're wanting to print in black ink only.
I have a couple of questions for you.
Are you trying to print black ink only while using ePrint?
Are you trying to use black ink only when printing from computer?

TV shows up as black and white when I hook Ipod to TV

I have the dock and the remote, the cables, etc.... Yet when I hook up to the T.V. to watch downloaded show 1. I either get the show in Black and White
or 2. I get audio only. What's the solution?

if you are not using cables specifically designed for the iPod make sure you switch the red and the yellow. also make sure the TV out setting is on in your video settings on your iPod.
if you are using a cable specifically for the iPod and it doesn't work after trying the above the cable maybe defective.

Artwork only displays in black and white when adding to a song

Artwork when importing JPG only shows in black and white. Old artwork is OK in colour previously imported. Note these are for non-ITunes store purchased.

You might want to set WMP options before you let it loose on your itunes content.
It doesn't matter if you never use WMP - its default settings allow webpages to open WMP in the background without you even knowing, and get info from the internet.
You need to turn this auto-update "feature" off in WMP in 4 places.
Player tab: everything unchecked so WMP won't touch your files
Library tab: everything unchecked, esp the box to retrieve info from the internet
Privacy tab: everything unchecked, esp the box to update files
Security tab: everything unchecked so web pages can't launch WMP in the background
You also need to check these 4 settings after every windows update that includes a WMP update, because it has reset them back to some of the defaults, I have noticed.

Printing black and white when colour is out of ink

I am currently wanting to print a doc in black and white. The YELLOW is out of ink. it will not allow me to print in black and white. I have changed the printer setting to defalt to black and white but it still will not allow me to print cause of the empty YELLOW ink. Is the a way to bypass the colour ink and just print black and white?

I see you are looking into printing with empty cartridges. Due to the design of the printhead, it requires cartridges with some ink in each slot to ensure there is no damage caused to the printhead.

Original picture turns black and white when adding layer masks.

Creating a collage. Just placed a new object with a layer mask. Now I need to create a hue/saturation, levels adjustment layer and color balance adjustment layer all with masks. Ok, no problem, but when I do this, my original picture turns black and white. HELP!!! School project and has to be completed by Monday morning.

You haven't added a Hue/Saturation layer that's got Saturation turned all the way down, by chance?
It might be helpful if you'd capture a screen grab and post it here, showing your layers and channels panels. With a look at how things are organized knowledgeable folks here should be able to help or at least ask more direct questions.

PSC 1510 All in one printer - won't print even black and white when colour cartridge not recognised

My PSC 1510 All in one printer is flashing the "check printer cartrige icon" and both "Black" and "Colour" icons at the bottom left of the printer.
It won't print at all, even when I select grayscale (black and white). The help pages tell me that if I remove the colour cartridge the printer will switch to backup mode and I'll still be able to print in black and white (though not copy or scan). But this is not the case, and I can find no way of switching manually to backup mode. The help pages have no useful explanation of backup mode. I've also tried cleaning the cartridge (which I'm pretty sure isn't empty) but that makes no difference.
Can anyone help? I'd be very grateful.

With only one cartridge light blinking I would suspect the cartridge, they do rarely fail (much more often for reman cartridges, see here). Clean the cartridge contascts as shown here. If that fails and the cartridge is an original HP then check the warranty date as shown here. If the cartridge is in warranty return it to your dealer for a warranty replacement.
The printer will automatically switch to backup mode if the black (or color in some printers) cartridge is removed. I do not know if this works with the PSC 1510, some all-in-on devices insist on having both cartridges present.

Can i force a officejet pro 8000 a809 to print black and white when a color cartrigde is empty?

I am trying to get two text document printed and I get an No ink/toner message on the top the printer que window. It is the Yellow ink cartridge, can I bypass this and force it to print in black and white only?

I know these posts are old, but.
To force the print to print even though some carts are empty or expired. Turn the printer off. Then hold the feed button while turning the printer on. Keep the feed button pressed for about 4-5 seconds after powering on the printer.

Equium A80 - Black and white when plugging into PAL TV

I know this seems to be a common problem but I have searched this forum and it seems the soloution is to select PAL or a screen refresh rate of 50Hz.
My Equium a80 has no option for PAL and the only screen refresh rate is 60Hz.
Can anyone help?? Please!

I assume you have connected the notebook with TV and now the pictures on TV are black and white. In my opinion its not a hardware fault and also not a issue of 60 Hz display settings.
How did you connect the notebook with TV?
Some of TV units have option for S-VHS activation. If your TV doesnt support that you can use a Cinch-cable to connect the notebook on the TV.
