  • Animated GIFs don't loop in exported movies from Keynote 3

I am just getting started with Keynote 3.0 and really like what I have seen. I created a series of slides and pasted animated GIFs in various places. They are set to loop on each slide as Keynote presents the slides. The slide show has preset transition and build timings and there is music playing continuously, throughout the show. It works quite well. (However, there is very intermittent choppy audio and video playback when there are builds or transitions occurring. Any thoughts on optimizing this?)
The problems begin when I ask Keynote to export the slideshow to a movie. The main problem that I am struggling with is that the animated GIFs don't loop in the rendered movie, regardless of which compressor I choose. I don't see anything in the documentation. I have also searched several of the discussions on making movies from Keynote 3 but have not specifically seen animated GIFs discussed. What am I missing here?
Also, I want to be able to play this movie on a DVD player at an upcoming function. Any recommendations for an approach that will be best? I have QT 7 Pro and the iLife '06 suite.
Thanks, in advance, for any forthcoming suggestions.

My guess is, it's too much of a pain to have to calculate how many times it will actually loop and create the loops and then composite everything. Running it in Keynote just tells the thing to keep playing over and over till you do something that stops it. There's a BIG difference there as one is just being told to play, the other is having to be placed in a movie with an exact number of frames, so there are a bunch of calculations involved.

  • Can you make an animated gif from edge animate?

Can you make an animated gif from edge animate?

not natively. edge exports html and javascript files, not video files, or frames.
however, you could use a third-party program that has a video screenshot function and make one that way.

  • Getting Animated Gif files to animate

Anyhad had any success at having animated gif files animating in Keynote 2? Mine doesn't seem to want to animate. Thx!

Another thing, did you get your animated GIF from online or from a collection on CD/DVD? If you just drag and drop an animated GIF from Safari, it will usually only save the starting image. You have to control-click (or right-click) and Save File As… to save all parts of an animated GIF you download from the web. Off of a CD/DVD, there shouldn't be any such problem, though.

  • Animated GIF won't animate or not even show at all

I have been using animated GIF with no problem so far but now with iWeb 08 sometimes it works with certain GIFs documents or sometimes won't with other GIFs documents. Why ? And what can I do about this ? What is the solution ?

Well Bababooey if you're comparing yourself to a Apple Genius Bar then you should already know my answer, your snarky remark get a snarky reply.  Why would I go to a salesperson to fix my computer problem when I can go directly go to the source itself.  I used to sell Apple computers over 8 years ago and was apple certified before the Genius bar existed. If I am to go about fixing an issue I can't fix on my own I will go to the source itself meaning Apple's programmers and developers - being UI UX Developer myself I know they should have QA'd all platforms and troubleshooted any arising issues.
This was also the first time in the 20 years I've been using a Mac that I even attempted to go on this forum which i thought would put me in connection with a certified Apple representative.  This turned out to be a complete waste of time just being a public forum with no Apple employee involved.  I was hoping to find a quick fix but in turn I was only frustrated with stupid responses such as yours that were in no way an answer to my original question.
BTW I fixed the issue on my own and without your help or Apples help. I'm glad if all forums point here regarding this issue because I now have the answer. The answer I was looking for from someone earlier was as simple as this {Download Maverick and reinstall the platform - it will take an hour to do but afterward 10.9.2 was installed and my computer is now able to shutdown and restart without having to do a hard boot.}  No more software update bar at top and no problems with my drive which I told both you and Grant - I know my computer better than you and I've probably been using them longer than you.
So again Babowa you were so wrong...... and I am right.
Again anyone having the same problem, I suggest reinstalling Maverick and you'll be suprised 10.9.2 will work fine.

  • Animated Gifs won't animate when forwarded to other people from mail...

I received a cute series of animated gif files via email today. I decided to forward the mail to a few friends and included myself on the list since I've had issues with forwarded gif files not animating in the past. Several friends received the files in working order. Others, including myself, received what appear to be the first frame of each of the animations but not animating at all.
    Any suggestions?

  • Animated .gif actionscript 3 question

I hqve some small swfs that I need to convert to animated .gifs for
a client. I assumed this this was a painless task but I was oh so wrong as the bigger the swf the worse
the animated gif looks. But I have some small.swfs I need to convert and I did and they do not look bad but my problem is the swf had clikTag info in it for googleadwords. When I converted to animated .gif the file does not have any actions inside, which leads me to ask how do I pass actionscript to an animated .gif done in Flash?
    anybody??

HTML links are likely your only recourse.  If you need help with that, visit the Dreamweaver or web design forums.  They might have some alternative approaches to offer as well, possibly using javascript or something along those lines.

  • Animated GIF works in-network, doesn't out ????

    Greetings,
I have a RoboHelp (FlashHelp) piece at
    http://iqweb.mcny.edu/iqweb/Student_IQWeb/userGuide/student_IQWeb.htm,
which has a few animated GIFs, you can find one at the end of the
page in the Do It Online book, View Application Status topic. There
are two animated airplane smilies marking the end of the page and
the end of the documentation. This work is hosted by a server
maintained in-house at the college for which the piece was
    developed.
I have the same work hosted outside for my own portfolio, at
    http://mywebniche.com/ID/MCNY/RoboHelp/Student_IQWeb/userGuide/student_iqweb.htm
and the animated GIFs do not animate.
Also, when I view the piece at the -in-house location
    http://iqweb.mcny.edu/iqweb/Student_IQWeb/userGuide/student_IQWeb.htm
from outside the college, ie, outside the LAN, the very same
animated GIFs also fail to animate.
Does anyone have any idea what is going on? It is not a
browser setting, I've checked all those, they're the same inside
and out. It can't be the server per se since the in-house server's
animated GIFs work fine when viewing from in-house, but not from
the "outside." Conversely, the animated GIFs in the RoboHelp on the
outside server animate just fine when viewed from within the
college LAN, but also fail when viewed from the outside.
Why would a GIF animate inside a LAN but not outside?
    regards,
    stevenjs

    Hi stevenjs
Sorry to have to be the bearer of bad news. I just tried both
links and in both cases, the gifs were animating just dandy. The
only thing that comes to mind is that I noticed your site stresses
IE as the suggested browser and I'm using Firefox. But I'm thinking
even that shouldn't really have a bearing on a simple animated
    .GIF.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Animated GIF in Flash v. Fireworks

    Hi-
I was told that I had to learn Fireworks to create an animated GIF because the animate gifs created through Flash are different. That doesn't make sense to me. Does it?

    no not that
on publish settings in the cs6 i could select animated or static gif & a bunch of other options like the colors 256 & etc
i cannot do this in the cc version .... is ther any other way to do it?
i need to edit the colors cos the file turns very low res
    thnx

  • Animated gif background - Won't animate!

I have a website which my partner and I have created. I'm really happy with what we have achieved EXCEPT I am trying to add an animated star gif background which is stationary even when I've published it. I've searched so many places for the solution that I'm now thoroughly confused as to if this is possible.
The website is http://www.billieanthony.co.uk and I have added the animated gif to the welcome page only (black/blue stars) to see if it works (which to me doesn't). I added the gif via the page inspector layout section. The other pages only have a static background.
Any comment gratefully received even if it's only to say it can't be done.
    Many thanks
    Kevin

Step one to enable the community to help debug what you're encountering would be to provide the URL for the page where the GIF is being used. My first guess would be there are effects applied to the image (i.e. inner glow, bevel, etc.) that require Muse to re-encode the image and Muse does not support encoding animated .gif. It only supports passing animated .gif files through unchanged. (And to get an image to pass through unchanged it needs to have no effects that require rasterization applied in Muse.)
Given you've stated the GIF file is 7.5Mb I have to question your choice of .gif. At 7.5Mb this single file will take ~8 seconds to download on the average US broadband connection and will be much slower for many broadband users and most cellular users. GIF is a reasonable choice for very small short animations used sparingly, but is seldom (if ever) a good choice for larger or longer animations. Better choices for those are to use a video or a tool like Edge Animate to create a HTML5/CSS3 animation. The end result will be vastly more user friendly in terms of page load performance.
A huge percentage of first time visitors to a webpage will cancel the page load rather than waiting 8+ seconds for the page load to complete.

  • Edge Animate export to animated .gif?

Hi everyone, I just started using Edge Animate and have completed my project. My final deliverable I am looking for is an animated gif with everything contained in it.  Can Edge do this? I think I will blow the mind of my vendor if I try to send them an HTML file, Javascript and the images all separately.  Is there a way to export just one file?  If not, can I import my Edge Animate file into another Adobe application where I could do so?  Thank you.

There really is no "single file" solution with HTML, none that would be easy anyways. The HTML page is an aggregate of images, libraries, fonts, etc and due to the nature of the format I don't think you'll find the one-off package you're looking for. Even if you were to embed in say Dreamweaver or Muse the output would still be multiple files.
IMO I think your best solution would be to upload somewhere and share a link
    Cheers,
    Sarah
