  • Animated GIFs don't loop in exported movies from Keynote 3

I am just getting started with Keynote 3.0 and really like what I have seen. I created a series of slides and pasted animated GIFs in various places. They are set to loop on each slide as Keynote presents the slides. The slide show has preset transition and build timings and there is music playing continuously, throughout the show. It works quite well. (However, there is very intermittent choppy audio and video playback when there are builds or transitions occurring. Any thoughts on optimizing this?)
The problems begin when I ask Keynote to export the slideshow to a movie. The main problem that I am struggling with is that the animated GIFs don't loop in the rendered movie, regardless of which compressor I choose. I don't see anything in the documentation. I have also searched several of the discussions on making movies from Keynote 3 but have not specifically seen animated GIFs discussed. What am I missing here?
Also, I want to be able to play this movie on a DVD player at an upcoming function. Any recommendations for an approach that will be best? I have QT 7 Pro and the iLife '06 suite.
Thanks, in advance, for any forthcoming suggestions.

My guess is, it's too much of a pain to have to calculate how many times it will actually loop and create the loops and then composite everything. Running it in Keynote just tells the thing to keep playing over and over till you do something that stops it. There's a BIG difference there as one is just being told to play, the other is having to be placed in a movie with an exact number of frames, so there are a bunch of calculations involved.

  • Animated .gif actionscript 3 question

I hqve some small swfs that I need to convert to animated .gifs for
a client. I assumed this this was a painless task but I was oh so wrong as the bigger the swf the worse
the animated gif looks. But I have some small.swfs I need to convert and I did and they do not look bad but my problem is the swf had clikTag info in it for googleadwords. When I converted to animated .gif the file does not have any actions inside, which leads me to ask how do I pass actionscript to an animated .gif done in Flash?
    anybody??

HTML links are likely your only recourse.  If you need help with that, visit the Dreamweaver or web design forums.  They might have some alternative approaches to offer as well, possibly using javascript or something along those lines.

  • This is ridiculous... MAIL.APP AND ANIMATED GIFS

Receive an ANIMATED GIF - works fine.
Forward an ANIMATED GIF - it doesn't work
    UNTIL
You look at it again in the 'Sent Items' box - then it works fine. (THE RECIPIENT SEES IT WORKING FINE AS WELL)
OBVIOUSLY a bug. BUT - as embarrassed as I am that the issue pertains to such a heinous relic to the web, there MUST be a fix. I've scoured high and low - and not ONE SINGLE DIFINITIVE ANSWER. NOT ONE.

"When in the compose message view, do you really want a big blinky GIF in your face? The message composer is for writing the message, not for viewing it."
Sort of not the point. The issue is that if I RECEIVE a message with an animated GIF - and can see it in its full hidious glory - then I should be able to view it when I forward it to someone.
And whats more, if (God help me) I create an email with an animated GIF, then I should be able to see it in the body of the message - currently I only get the animation once its in the 'Sent' box.
"SO WHAT?" you ask. "BIG DEAL." you remark.
Well, lets say, for instance, that Mr. Ad Agency Exec A wants to send an animated gif that displays a current round of creative to Mr. Client Exec B.
Currently there is no way to view the animation before sending. You can see it if you have recieved it - AND - AFTER you send it, but not during!?!?!?!?!?

  • Why don't apple add animated gifs support on their products

It's so annoying that their products still don't support animated gifs it will be great if they added this feature. And it will be great if they add Bluetooth file share.

  • Why don't animated GIFs open in Preview now?

Before updating to Yosemite, animated GIFS opened in Preview. Now, I get a box telling me that it may be damaged or use a file format that Preview doesn't recognize.  I have never had any issues before, and these are all images used before. Please advise.

With the bookmarks that open in the Sidebar ''(small section of the browser on the left)'', right-click those bookmarks and select '''Properties'''. Un-check '''''Load this bookmark in the sidebar''''', them click Save.
That box becomes check-marked when the user uses a button on a web page for "Bookmark this Page". Best to use the Bookmark this Page feature within Firefox, rather than buttons on web pages.

  • Disabled JMenuItem doesn show animated gif

    Hi there
I would like to have a popup menu with actions that are enabled after they have finished with some background task taking some time. Basically this works fine for the enabling action on a shown popup. However, adding an animated gif as the icon or disabled icon does not show it in disabled state. In enabled state it works perfect. Please have a try with the sample code. You should see the disabled item for 2 secs and the icon is not showing up. After being enabled, it does. Invoking the menu again shows the animated gif in its last state left, but not moving any more.
I guess, repaints are not done appropriately in disabled state... Any ideas how to solve that would be highly appreciated :-)
Actually I used the icon at http://mentalized.net/activity-indicators/indicators/pascal_germroth/indicator.white.gif

The problem is that you are causing the EDT to sleep, which means the GUI can't repaint itself. Read the section from the Swing tutorial on Concurrency to understand what is happening.

  • Problem saving animated gif

    Hello!
Just for fun i was planning to edit a animated football tackle gif. I was planning to remove the player who tackle in each and every frame of the animated gif. So it would take some time to finish.
I have successfully opened the gif in CS6 via import Video Frames to Layers.
It consists of 72 layers and i have tried to fix 10 of them just to see how it roughly would look like.
My problem comes when I try to save and render the GIF (via save for WEB).
The 10 first frames of my gif only shows one freezing frame, and then it shows the rest from 11-72 without any problems.
What am i doing wrong, since my edited layers don't show up in the final GIF?

    Right on! Easy solution.
First, the reason your first 10 frames are not changing is because each of those frames shows the same layer (Layer 1).
In your layers panel, you have Layer 1 set to visible and all the other layers are invisible. That's good for Frame 1, but for frame 2 you'll want to make Layer 2 the visible one.
Click on Frame 2 in your Timeline panel and then check the eyeball icon to make Layer 2 visible! Do the same for Frame 3/Layer 3, Frame 4/Layer 4, etc. until you get to the end of the animation!
To address the second problem, the option for Make Frames from Layers is greyed out because you already have frames in your timeline.
Go to your Timeline panel and select all the frames and delete them.
Then select all your layers in the Layer panel, right-click and choose Make Frames from Layers... you should be able to click on it once your Timeline is cleared. It will automatically create frames that go from Layer 1 to your last layer (so, you wouldn't have to do it manually like above ^).
Either way should take care of your problem! Please let me know if this works for you!!
    Cheers,
    Michael

  • Does animated .gif export support animation of library symbols?

I'm currently using the 30-day free trial of Adobe Flash Professional CC. I was really pleased to see how easily you could export animations in animated .gif format, seemed to run without a hitch.
One thing I noticed while using Flash is that instances of symbols placed into a scene don't actually animate when you use the "Play" function -- that is to say, when you press Enter and the playhead starts moving along the timeline from its current position. They remain at the very first frame of their respective animations. In order to show the proper animations of symbols, you have to use the Test function (CTRL - Enter) to actually compile a working .swf of the thing.
This wasn't much of an issue until I tried to export in .gif format and I got this same issue. Instances of symbols don't animate, they only seem to work in compiled .swf's.
FileDropper link to the working file I'm using: http://www.filedropper.com/flashbottle
    Result .gif: http://i.imgur.com/PZVXST7.gif
Since the use of symbols in the Flash workflow seems to be a rather common occurrence it seems unthinkable that Flash wouldn't support their usage with whatever mechanism they use to export animated .gif's. Is there some sort of silly mistake I'm making or checkbox I need to toggle? Or is the functionality simply not there?

    Thank you for your reply!
I check exported GIFs in various browsers and XnView viewer.
It's definitely not a preview  issue - i have 32Gb of RAM and Nvidia Quadro 4000 GPU on my system.
I believe the issue is with transparency, because i'm able to export GIFs with solid background just fine
GIF export dialogue window has 'Transparency' checkbox, so it looks like it should be possible to export an animated GIF with transparent background, but for some reason i'm getting all frames at the same time
    thank you

  • My animated gif keeps pausing in captivate and flash

Hi guys, thanks for your help.
I made an animated gif in Photoshop CS4 and inserted it as an animation into captivate 6. The animation works (I played it several times by opening it with internet explorer and safari). But when I open it in Captivate the animation goes black for a split second-several times, before it reappears-several times. It gives it almost a "reloading" or pause look when I play it. The same in flash, but in Adobe Flash CS4 Professional the timeline shows black dots once in a while, as you can see in the screen shot below.
See those black dots? I will insert a picture of what happens, when the player lands on one of those black dots:
It's the same animation, but only shows a little. Like I said, it plays fine when I open it with an internet browser, it plays fine when I play it in photoshop, but it just won't work with flash or captivate.
Any thoughts? Thanks so much!! I really appreciate your help guys!
    Nat

No problem. Building a simple animation in Flash isn't that bad. You could save each "frame" as an image from PhotoShop and then import these into Flash and place one frame at the time on a keyframe in the flash timeline (press F6 to insert a keyframe).
If you want your animation to loop then you don't have to do anything as this is the default behavior. If you want it to stop at the last frame you insert a command in ActionScript to stop it. Select the last keyframe and hit F9 and type stop() in the ActionScript window.
    Good luck!

  • Question on Animated GIF Timing

I have a weather-type animated GIF, and believe me, it is not
    my choice or
idea, but anyway I need to get this working.
    Here it is:
    http://www.sendto.org/temp/weather-cvia.gif.
In this animation, all the frames are set to 100 but the
    timing is not
smooth. No idea why. When I change frame 2 to 50, the timing
    seems to me
to be closer to even, but it makes no sense to cut the time
    on frame 2 to
have all frames display for equal time. Is anyone else seeing
    this?
    The source file is here:
    http://www.sendto.org/temp/weather-cvia.png
    Many thanks,
    Tony

    Hi Anthony:
Are you testing the playback in a browser? The FW playback -
    at one time
anyway - was not a reliable method for previewing.
Have you checked to make sure there are not several frames
    identical to
frame 2 in the animation? That too would give the impression
    that frame
    2 is staying up longer.

  • Animated .gif files

I have been using an older version of Photoshop Elements for a long time but just got a new MacPro and decided it's time to upgrade my PSE.  But maybe not....I downloaded the Photoshop Elements Trial version to check out if it's really worth upgrading or not and I think I'm in trouble. I have a ton of animated .gif files and they do not appear to open in the familiar "layers".  i read through some of these discussion threads and I think you're saying that if I use the current version of Photoshop Elements I will not be able to edit my old .gif files.  I did try making new layered files and save them for the web with animation and that seemed to work.  But if I'm going to lose the ability to edit my old .gif files I'm not sure I want to upgrade.
Can someone clarify this for me please.  Maybe it's just a matter of switching from Elements to CS4, but I thought from the descriptions of the programs as provided in the Products section that I fit more with the Elements program.....maybe not????
And this does not even consider that I haven't tried to load my older version on the new intel machine yet, it may not even run if I try that.
I do, for about 20% of my computing time use "that other" platform, but I don't like it, I much prefer my wonderful Mac machines.
    thanks for your help
    Leigh

Thank you for your offer, I do appreciae it.  But I think the better question to ask at this point is :  What is the last version of Photoshop Elements that supports editing animated gif files.  This is too important to me to lose this ability and after checking further I see CS4 is out of my price and needed features range. I would rather hang on to my old laptop to manipulate photos than lose the ability to edit my .gif files.
Can anybody help with this question?

  • I am having major issues importing Animated gif's into Adobe Captivate

    Hi everyone
Captivate 7 (64 bit) keeps crashing when i import animate gifs into flash.
It's a serious workflow issue for us as the project requires animated gifs.
I don't have any files to supply for this query as i can't even import gif's into a blank doc.
Has any one found a solution for this issue ?
Adobe ??  Have you got a fix for this bug ?
    Thanks in advance
    Nick

How were the GIF's created? Which version of 7 do you use, you can see the complete version number under Help, About Captivate.
I have been using animated GIF's in 7, they were created with Photoshop. And I know that each frame in the animation has to have a duration that is not 0secs.
