Animated GIF In Elements 6

Please forgive me if this is a simple question but I am new to Elements 6. I recently created a website using WebEasy software. My old site had a place on the home page where a series of pictures would display in sequence and loop, like an animated GIF file. The software I'm using cannot do what I want it to do and it is limited in it's capabilities. I tried to create an animated GIF in elements 6 because I think that would meet my needs to take 5 or 6 photos and display them in a loop in a space on my home page. The help section keeps telling me to place my photos in the layers panel and save to a web page, but I can't get more than one photo at a time to appear in the panel, so when i save it as a web page, the gif is only one photo. Maybe the GIF is not the only way to accomplish my goal, but I would appreciate any help. I am stuck.

Thank you for helping me. I guess I am so new I got stuck on your "create a new file and then add each layer and copy your image on as many layers etc."
Here is what i tried: I selected 7 edited JPG images from the organizer (all at once) and clicked full edit. This opened the editor and my images were in a bin at the bottom. I brought one image into the editor and it created a background layer. I saved this image as another name. I then added 6 layers from the layer panel. I then did a drag and drop on the other images into the editor and they did begin to fill the layer panel with additional layers, albeit not the extra layers I added. I deleted the blank layers and saved the entire file. I then saved it to web and tried the gif, but it was one gif with 6 small and one large pic on it, so no go.
I then tried to save one image, add layers and drag and drop the remaining images from the bin into the blank layers, but it would not accept it.
I appreciate your response, but I need a little more knowledge. I am pretty good at editing pictures, but this layer concept is confusing me. I have had a small amt of training on elements 2, but not on layers. (The dark background on 6 is driving me nuts) I wonder if 7 or 8 changed that.
Thanks

  • Can someone help me with a very basic guide to animated gif with elements 11?

    Hi
    I bought Adobe elements 11 and have been trying to do a very basic animated gif with it.I came acroos some instructions about layering,etc but still cannot get it to work. All I want to do is add two of my school photos together so that one suddenly vanishes and the one appears.I am planning to put this on my blog.
    The animation I want is the day time picture of teh school magically vanish and the night time picture appear.Can it be done with elements11(I wouldn't mind if someone can even do it for me so that I could deconstruct it later!).I have attached the two photos.Please remember ,my knowledge of phtoshop is abysmal and very very basic.My apologies for that.hence I might be need to be told like a 10-year old!
    Please help as I need this fast! Karen.

    It’s not possible to fade between gif images but you could sandwich two layers with a black fill layer between them as I have done in this example.
    Then use the menu:
    File >> Save For Web
    Choose gif as the file type, select animate, and set your timing in seconds with continuous loop if required.
    Then Save.
    PS the images are different sizes so I had to re-size the daylight image to make it the same as the night image.

  • Can't set frame rate on animated GIF PSE8 on Mac

    When saving an animated GIF in Elements 8 (running on Mac OSX 10.6 Snow Leopard) I can't modify the frame rate. It is set at the default .2 delay and can't be modified. Anyone know of a fix for this?
    Thanks.

    Thanks Barbara... I have used that very workaround already - but was hoping there was a solution so I could just do it in the app designed for this! So unfortunate that Adobe knows about this bug and hasn't fixed it!

  • Video, animated GIF, PNG's to FC

    50% of buttons panels and so on can be non static... so
    1) Drag and drop video is avaliable?
    2) List of formats?
    3) Size issuse (Drop flv MPG MOV vill the size grow extreamly?)
    4) Effects and Loops?
    5) And what about animated GIF PNG elements?

    We are looking at supporting FLV and F4V video formats in a future beta. Video can be streamed so that the video itself does not have to be embedded inside your Flash content. This prevents the file from getting too big.
    Regarding #4, are you referring to effects and loops on video, or for general animation purposes?
    Regarding #5, no support for animated GIFS yet

  • Photoshop elements 10 animated gifs show one layer only

    I don't like this new version of photoshop elements (photoshop elements 10). When I try to edit an animated gif file, it says I can only view one layer and the rest will be lost. Why is this?

    Known issue. This is actually because Photoshop CSx used a GIF plug-in that didn't support opening GIF files as layers. That same plug-in was sent over to PSE in version 9. You can get the plug-in from earlier versions to fix this:

  • Can Premiere Elements be used on an animated gif file?

    I am considering purchasing Premiere Elements but I need to know if one can use it to add effects to an animated gif file.
    For example, in Photoshop Elements one can add certain effects to a gif image, such as giving it certain textures or filters.
    Can one do the same kind of thing in Premiere Elements and if so can it be done to an animated gif file?
    Maybe a better way to ask this question is:  can you import an animated gif file into Premiere Elements and then manipulate it?  Run filters, etc.
    Thanks for your help.

    If you load your GIF into Premiere Elements 10, edit it, then share to an AVI file, you can then import the AVI file into GIF Movie Gear by Gamani, which will then create an animated GIF. I learned about this utility from a Microsoft tutorial on creating icons for Windows XP.
    http://www.gamani.com/product_icon.htm
    If you use Firefox and get redirected, try using Internet Explorer instead.
    After the trial period is over, it's $29.95US for 4 licences.
    When you share to an AVI file, you will want to select the Microsoft AVI item from the list, then click the advanced button to open up the dialog where you will need to select a codec and enter the frame size and frame rate. The codec will have to be one that GIF Movie Gear likes, so there may be some trial and error needed to get a good codec. I shared to an AVI after picking Xvid for the codec, which GIF Movie Gear imported.

  • Adobe Premiere Elements 9  - animated Gif Export

    Hallo

  • Loading .gif animations into Photoshop Elements 8 for Mac

    For years I used Photoshop Elements 2 for Windows to make .gif animations with great success.
    Then I switched to a Mac and bought Elements 8 for Mac.  Now, I am finding out that I can not load any
    of the animations I made using Elements 2 into 8.  (And yet I can load animations I made using 8 into 2.)
    In fact, I can not load any .gif animations into 8, other than if I make one and save it
    as .psd.  8 allows me to make them, but not load them as .gifs.
    My question:  Is there an easy way to load .gif animations into PS Elements 8 so a
    person can work on the individual frames?  Am I going to have to convert any .gif animation I
    want to import into 8 first into .psd?  All I seem to get when I try to load a .gif is the message
    "This is an animated gif.   You can only view one frame." I have searched manuals and the
    Net looking for a specific method of using PSE8 to load gif animations intact (not just one frame).
    Is it possible?  Thanks. (I also have noticed that Elements 8 will not allow me to change the frame
    speed -- it is unchangeable at .2)

    Dear Ms. Brundage -
    I followed the directions detailed in your blog entitled "Moving a Catalog from Windows to Mac" as well as your description of the process on page 58 of your book "Photoshop Elements 9 - the missing manual."
    I installed PE9 for Windows and converted my catalog.  I then backed up that catalog to an external hard drive.  I then connected the hard drive to my MAC on which I also installed Photoshop Elements 9 for MAC.  I opened the Organizer and tried to restore that converted catalog.  However, for each file in the converted catalog, a dialog box opened that said "Could not restore file:  /Volumes/Name of External Hard Drive/Filename.JPG."
    I then made a second backup of the converted catalog using Photoshop Elements 9 for Windows and then tried to restore that catalog again on the MAC using Photoshop Elements 9 for MAC, again to no avail.
    Do you have any idea what the problem may be?
    Thanks again.

  • Missing Animated GIF option in Premiere Elements 9

    Greetings!
    I have been researching this for a while and it's driving me a little crazy. I have an incredibly short video clip (like three seconds) that would make a perfect animated GIF. I read online that it's possible. The help files for Premiere list Animated GIF as a supported export format.
    BUT, when I go to the Share tab, there isn't a single option for creating one. It's a pretty infuriating.
    Any help?

    I'm looking at the help file for Premiere Elements 9, and it lists Animated GIF. I do not think it's unusual for a video editor to export a video to a "motion image." It exports individual image files, so why not GIF? And there are instructions elsewhere online for creating GIFs with Premiere, but they're all using older versions using the File > Export menu. That item is grayed out now, which is another terrible UI design because it took me a while, as a new Premiere user, to figure out how to perform the basic task of creating a video from my timeline.

  • Animating gif problem in ps elements 7.0

    I am trying to save a file as an animated gif... and when I click to save as a gif, then check the box to save layers as frames, then click save, it doesn't prompt me to the animation window where I select the animation, loop, and speed. How can I get this window to pop up? where do I need to go in the program to get it to animate?

    the animation, loop, and speed. How can I get this window to pop up? where do I need to go in the program to get it to animate
    As the others said, use "Save For Web".
    In Elements, you will not have an option for setting how fast each frame plays...or is delayed.  To control the frame rate in the animation, the workaround is to use duplicate layers in the layers palette as each layer represents a frame in your animation. By making a duplicate layer in the layers palette, you create a delay for that frame.

    hi all
    does anyone know how you open an animated gif in pe6 for mac ?

    is there a bug in the program ?

    Well its basically because you weren't paying attention.
    But I understand we all do that.

  • Edit animated gif

    Hi,
    How can I edit an animated gif in Photoshop Elements 6 for Mac?
    When I open the file there is just the first frame in one layer - no other layers available.
    Thanks!

    Thanks Barbara!
    Barbara B. wrote:
    ... then bring it to PSE.
    I can't drag the single frames from Preview to PSE, because PSE 6 doesn't run in window mode.
    (Is this improved in the current version?)
    I can only drag the single frames to the desktop (as TIFF files, I guess transparency info is lost then?).
    Barbara B. wrote:

    What's the default frame delay rate? Maybe it's just what I need.

    Yes that's maybe a better idea. It doesn't have to be free software. Can you recommend something good?
    Thanks again!

  • Load/import images into layers to create animated gif in PE4

    I'm trying to make an animated gif using Photoshop Elements 4.0.
    I have numerous images (photos) that I need to insert into separate frames of one image.
    (photo1, photo2 ..... photo10 - all combined in layers to create the frames of the animated gif)
    I can open each photo separately, copy it, go the the animated gif image, create a new layer, and paste the image into the layer to create a frame in the animated gif.  This is very time consuming.
    Does Elements 4.0 allow for just opening/importing the separate images (photos) into the layers (frames) of the gif direclty?  I remember having software that came with Macromedia Dreamweaver 4.0 in 2000 that made this simple and straight forward.

    We are not the right people to ask.  The Touch forum (for tablet) is at

    There's a long list f video tutorials here, but I can't see anything about animation

  • Animated .gif files

    I have been using an older version of Photoshop Elements for a long time but just got a new MacPro and decided it's time to upgrade my PSE.  But maybe not....I downloaded the Photoshop Elements Trial version to check out if it's really worth upgrading or not and I think I'm in trouble. I have a ton of animated .gif files and they do not appear to open in the familiar "layers".  i read through some of these discussion threads and I think you're saying that if I use the current version of Photoshop Elements I will not be able to edit my old .gif files.  I did try making new layered files and save them for the web with animation and that seemed to work.  But if I'm going to lose the ability to edit my old .gif files I'm not sure I want to upgrade.
    Can someone clarify this for me please.  Maybe it's just a matter of switching from Elements to CS4, but I thought from the descriptions of the programs as provided in the Products section that I fit more with the Elements program.....maybe not????
    And this does not even consider that I haven't tried to load my older version on the new intel machine yet, it may not even run if I try that.
    I do, for about 20% of my computing time use "that other" platform, but I don't like it, I much prefer my wonderful Mac machines.
    thanks for your help
    Leigh

    Thank you for your offer, I do appreciae it.  But I think the better question to ask at this point is :  What is the last version of Photoshop Elements that supports editing animated gif files.  This is too important to me to lose this ability and after checking further I see CS4 is out of my price and needed features range. I would rather hang on to my old laptop to manipulate photos than lose the ability to edit my .gif files.
    Can anybody help with this question?

  • Animated GIF problems

    I've recently implemented an extension of IconView to animate gifs correctly in editor panes. I am just haveing two problems with it that I can't figure out.
    Firstly, when an animated gif is added it animates fine. The next time the same gif is added, it doesn't animate, just shows the last image of the animation. I assume that something is trying to be clever by caching the image somewhere, is there any way around this?
    Secondly some of the gifs do not animate very well. I believe that they may be using transparency to leave the contents of previous frames behind, but I guess that java does not support this. Any thoughts on how I could solve this?
    Here is the simple code for my view:
    class AnimatedIconView extends IconView implements ImageObserver
         private Container container = null;
         private Rectangle bounds = null;
         public AnimatedIconView(Element e)
              super(e);
              Icon icon = StyleConstants.getIcon(getAttributes());
              if (icon instanceof ImageIcon)
                   ((ImageIcon)icon).setImageObserver(this);
         public void setParent(View parent)
              super.setParent(parent);
              container=getContainer();
         public void paint(Graphics g, Shape s)
              super.paint(g,s);
              bounds=s.getBounds();
         public boolean imageUpdate(Image img,int infoflags,int x,int y,int width,int height)
              if (((infoflags & ImageObserver.FRAMEBITS)>0)&&(container!=null)&&(bounds!=null))
                   container.repaint((int)bounds.getX(),(int)bounds.getY(),(int)bounds.getWidth(),(int)bounds.getHeight());
              return true;
    }Dave

    I just can point you the bug which is probably related to your problem:
